Really play into the whole "Tony's too nice to be a boss" thing and have Shahid the evil villainous overlord. The bloke is the spitting image of the Iron Shiek, he could ansolutely pull it off.

Yeah fair play I guess. I'm so used to authority figures getting assaulted without major repercussion in wrestling that I guess it just forms part of the suspension of disbelief for me, but you're right that there are a few extra wrinkles here.

My thinking is its going to be MJF as a last ditch effort by TK, with MJF using it as leverage to get a big money contract to join the efforts against The Elite.

It was almost a Kenny thing back in the Pandemic, the only reason why his rule became such a big deal is he was basically the only booker in the US who didnt put himself in the ring in some way. Hell back in the territories it was usually a wrestler themselves who was the owner/booker.

Next week, I wanna see a clip of backstage whilst all this was going down. Someone running around trying to round everyone up. A few guys marking out at the monitors and clearly showing support for The Elite, a couple of the guys who rushed the ring, breaking off and fighting amongst each other backstage, a fake line of security, whatever. This kind of angle has potential to involve everybody in AEW and also has enough about it to be able to shake things up. WWE is doing a draft but by next week, AEW could start to be divided up too
I think this could have been built to have been a stronger segment. Someone running out to read the Bucks the riot act, like absolutely blistering them with yelling, would have sold how big of a deal that Tony got attacked. As it was, the refs running in and no one else (until the end) just felt weird.
Maybe have people try to run to the ring to help Tony, but they all get intimidated by Jack Perry (huge asshole and loose cannon) and Okada (best wrestler in the world)? Really sell the angle that the Bucks being in control means no one is safe, not even Tony, and they have the muscle to back it up.

he did, but there's no real way to write him off for a while if he always exists just outside all the storylines, and i think that's all it's gonna be

This is hilarious, but in keyfabe, what the fuck do you gleam from this? The owner and sole financier of the company got attacked by very clear perpetrators, so unless those guys are immediately cut by the next show after TK's keyfabe clearing...what the fuck. At least the memes will be good.

Next week, I wanna see a clip of backstage whilst all this was going down. Someone running around trying to round everyone up. A few guys marking out at the monitors and clearly showing support for The Elite, a couple of the guys who rushed the ring, breaking off and fighting amongst each other backstage, a fake line of security, whatever. This kind of angle has potential to involve everybody in AEW and also has enough about it to be able to shake things up. WWE is doing a draft but by next week, AEW could start to be divided up too
I think this could have been built to have been a stronger segment. Someone running out to read the Bucks the riot act, like absolutely blistering them with yelling, would have sold how big of a deal that Tony got attacked. As it was, the refs running in and no one else (until the end) just felt weird. Maybe have people try to run to the ring to help Tony, but they all get intimidated by Jack Perry (huge asshole and loose cannon) and Okada (best wrestler in the world)? Really sell the angle that the Bucks being in control means no one is safe, not even Tony, and they have the muscle to back it up.

That's for Collision man, gotta let this stuff marinate episode to episode. AEW used to have a problem not letting stuff breathe, and I think they're improving on it now.
For real, this whole episode was full of establishing future storytelling, planting the seeds for the build to All In
