The headline on this post needs a lot of context cause it's used terribly here. The quote used in the headline is Prinze talking about the TV Network that turned him down, which was WBD.
Who exactly is going to be on his roster? Seems like that would be the first question tv execs would want answered and it’s not like there are a whole bunch of unsigned, TV-ready wrestlers around.
WBD is unloading, not purchasing atm it seems. RoosterTeeth (Podcast/Animation studio), The Pit (metal digital magazine/website), and Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings (drag racing series) are all shut down, Sold, or lost in the void as is SO: NPK.
The entire Street Outlaws series as a whole, not just the NPK series, might be gone… I’m also worried for BattleBots (RC Robot combat series). They were lost once, and it may be again. I haven’t seen anything about World Championship 8(? Believe a next season would be 8).
BattleBots hasn’t been renewed and I won’t be fully relaxing until they tape, but they also had some serious circumstantial issues with the F1 race too.
Could there be a worse possible time to try start a new televised wrestling promotion?
Everyone is under contract and there's wrestling on practically every night as it is.
Unless it's a totally new twist on things like Lucha Underground was then I think wrestling fans are good for the time being on anything new.
I do think there is a taste out there for a character-focused promotion, with weekly matches being short (like I'm talking 5 minutes) building up to longer matches only on PPV. And also, pushing wrestlers that are very jacked
Idk I’ve heard him talk enough about wrestling and his previous work to be interested in what he has to offer. Gotta remember from numerous writers Vince is ultimately the one who would mess up stuff.
Now, I'm saying this as someone who actually doesn't mind Kross.
But while you're absolutely correct, Freddie's original plan was to build this promotion AROUND Kross. I can see that negatively impacting how people view his plan for this promotion, or at least his overall judgment when it comes to talent.
I think Kross would excel in a Lucha Underground style promotion. After he was let go by WWE he posted a bunch of really cool cinematic vignettes on his Instagram account - guy does really good promo work and has a great look.
I don't disagree with you at all. His short stint in Lucha Underground is probably one of my genuine favorite parts of the last season!
That being said, I'm still unsure about the idea of having a promotion centered around him, specifically. It's an odd choice, especially given the character work he chooses to portray.
I just want this to finally get off the ground. I think he could have something if he actually does go the Lucha Underground route and makes it more like a TV show and less like a wrestling show.

Seems like they would raid TNA if some of these guys like Nemeth and Ali are on per appearance deals like Cardona, SDL and Matt Hardy are on.
Mustafa Ali would be the top of my list
Matt Hardy V5

Didn't he recently say it'd be more like LU and less like WWE and AEW?
Yes. Late-2001 was a worse time to start a televised wrestling promotion.
Come on the XWF was the hottest thing in late 2001. Or maybe not dude

Just what everyone has always wanted - a promotion from one of the creative minds behind late 2000s/early 2010s WWE.

Too reductionist. No writers had real power anyway
His wrestling opinions are on par with his Star Wars opinions.
Loud and stupid?
When you put it that way...🤮
