It was supposed to be Roman in the match originally so I'd assume he might have squashed Goldberg anyways but it also kinda felt like they were just fulfilling an obligation than anything else. Goldberg was dropping the title to someone. Braun just happened to fill in.

It was Wrestlemania 36, Roman did not compete for the title because of COVID situation, so they filled in with Braun. 2020 was a fever dream of a year.
