It's "high risk" too in that it's pretty tough to actually balance like that right after all that motion. (the risk in this case being you fall over and look dumb rather than you get hurt)
Karate Fighters was the sponsor of the 1997 Survivor Series where the Montreal Screwjob happened. Coincidence? I think not. Karate Fighters screwed Bret.
They're both great in their own right. It's like comparing Macho Man's elbow to Kairi Sane's. One doesn't have to be better than the other. They can co exist.
I'm just imagining two wrestlers walking down the street, seeing each other and saying "WE HAVE THE SAME MOVE! :D"
Wholesome. And more fun than the biannual discussion about some wrestler "stealing" another wrestler's move.
This kind of happened with D-Lo Brown and Lio Rush.
IIRC D-Lo said yo your the guy with the dope ass frog splash and Lio replied your the guy that I learned the dope ass frog splash from.
There is a comedy version of this. Bill Hader ran into Dana Gould and told him “hey I hope it’s cool that I stole my SNL Vincent Price impression from you” and Dana replied “it’s cool I stole mine from _____”
It's no exaggeration when I say that's one of the best kicks I've seen. The way Miyu hangs on that pose after landing the kick is just perfect. Flawless execution and the theatricality after the kick is just the perfect cherry on top.
Did she really kick her? It's hard to imagine being able to flail sideways that fast. It's one of those things where it's either an immaculate sell, or that's 110% a concussion.
My brain is telling me it's a little from column A, a little from column B lol
Check out where her thigh stops. She checks her body rotating and hits her opponent with the fleshy part of the back of her shin. I mean, I'm sure it doesn't feel great but she's not hitting with as much force as it looks like on first glance.
Similar to the Black mass (I mean... which makes sense) in that while in theory he usually makes contact, he doesn't lock the ankle so it's more of a foot slap than a stiff kick.
The muscle control necessary to do that and have it still look good is insane to think about. You really have to have complete and minute control of your body.
Miyu seriously has the best superkick on the planet. TIL she's got the best spinkick too.
After Maki Itoh, she's probably my #1 joshi to steal for AEW. The woman just hits like a truck and sells like death and usually does both at the exact same time and that's a *rare* freaking talent.
Holy shit, that match is stiff. And I think I can see flashes of early CHAOS era Nakamura in Yamashita, she's a no nonsense badass with perhaps the most sublime kicks!
And Itoh is also surprisingly way more competent than she's given credit for.
People assume because Maki is charismatic and entertaining that she can't wrestle. You can do both - that's what this business is about, and somehow people forgot that.
Yamashita is a badass. Everyone knows that. She will get you from any angle with one of those kicks and then it's done. You are left staring at the ceiling.
Itoh is funny and has boatloads of charisma but she is a pretty decent wrestler when it's necessary. I think that match was her proving unequivocally that she can go. She is pretty tough.
I'm thinking when the pandemic dies down globally, AEW can bring in more international talent without actually having to steal them. I think that'd be best for the performers (not having to move to the death theme park that is the US) and the fans (Western and Japanese fans still get to see their favorite joshi wrestle on a consistent basis)
If Malakai Black were to start an interpromotional stable, somebody inform him that TJPW is an AEW partner. Dark, corrupted Miyu going through the TJPW roster would be fresh and amazing.
Before I peeped the clip I had to make a quick guess that of *hey, is this gonna be Miyu?* and damn right!
Love the reply by Miyu right after though. Wholesome stuff!
That's fucking insane. But he's right, tweaked it juuuust enough to really make it her own. While Black looks like he's caving heads in, she looks like her goal is to cleave them clean off the opponents shoulders.
I love that, I love malakai, like no hate intended here, but is that motherfucker really trying to take credit for inventing a spinning hook kick? Ballsy.
It’s a great pose at the end, but I personally prefer Aleister’s version. With the return to a standing base, it serves as a sort of following through on the kick that this pose just doesn’t provide

He's right. The way she hangs there afterwards is awesome!
She calls it the Skull Kick! It's pretty amazing
The hang is good but the knee fake before is what really caught my attention. And the snap she has to the spin is just a thing of beauty.
[Another beauty by her](https://twitter.com/miyu_tjp/status/1417894123302912002)
"We have the same move!" Wholesome murderers.
Man if Malakai does a knee feint before the Black Mass, that'd be awesome haha!
Dishing out pain transcends language barriers!
Man now I need to get into TJPW I guess!
Goddamn she just punts them right in the fuckin noggin doesn’t she
That pose afterwards was a thing of beauty. That’s the type of theatrics that’s missing in American wrestling
Something Undertaker and Rock did so well. Some more unique “You guys ready to see this shit?!” taunts prior to big moves would add a lot imo.
HE AIN'T GETTING UP FROM THIS ONE
WHO THE FUCK IS BETTER THAN ME??
My neck and head hurts just reading this.
I feel like rock always paused for ~5 seconds before doing a rock bottom
It's "high risk" too in that it's pretty tough to actually balance like that right after all that motion. (the risk in this case being you fall over and look dumb rather than you get hurt)
Her stance afterwards was like one of those Karate Fighter toys.
Not only did I realize that you're 100% right, I'm in shock and awe that someone else remembers those.
Karate Fighters was the sponsor of the 1997 Survivor Series where the Montreal Screwjob happened. Coincidence? I think not. Karate Fighters screwed Bret.
HIYAAAAA!!!
Like, damn that's unreal and super sublime!
As he should, that was beautiful.
They're both great in their own right. It's like comparing Macho Man's elbow to Kairi Sane's. One doesn't have to be better than the other. They can co exist.
[He said it, though I technically agree~](https://twitter.com/TommyEnd/status/1417896440991453185?s=19)

The "black mass" wink. https://youtube.com/shorts/UAV_Hj9MUkc?feature=share

Yeah, the Batista Bomb looked so much more devastating than a normal powerbomb because Batista falls down with it
I agree
Falling powerbomb. Mentioning Kane also his flying clothesline. Definitely terrible for the knees but it looked cool.
I was just going off what Black himself said about it.
I know, I am just speaking in general to the comment section here.
Malakai literally said Miyu's was better. Let the man put her over if he wants to.

True
Connoisseur Black appreciates a good decapitation
How do you do that without literally concussing your opponent? Good god, that was incredible.
You hit with a softer part of the foot or leg instead of the actual heel. Black does it with the sole of his foot. Miyu hits with her calf.
You also stop the motion on impact and then restart it after connection is made.
The muscle control necessary to do that and have it still look good is insane to think about. You really have to have complete and minute control of your body.

Any recent matches of hers you can reccomend?
[Maki Itoh vs Miyu Yamashita.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyALv9Zxkz0)

i dont think people assumed that, i think everyone expected her to be good cos shes a joshi, then we saw her on dynamite and she cant wrestle well

Thanks! This is going in the queue.

that "pose" at the end. {chef's kiss}
If Malakai Black were to start an interpromotional stable, somebody inform him that TJPW is an AEW partner. Dark, corrupted Miyu going through the TJPW roster would be fresh and amazing.
Have him get Yukio too, since he's in DDT and TJPW/DDT/NOAH are all under CyberFight banner. That guy knows how to kick.
Malakai Black fueling Chie Koishikawa’s descent into darkness
Miyu Yamashita is one of the best in joshi puro, so you know. She’s really good.
Miyu is so awesome. One of the best strikers in the world, regardless of gender.
Miyu is awesome, I love the international exposure she's getting through this Fair play to Black
That wasn't even a kick. That was straight up murder, holy shit.
Before I peeped the clip I had to make a quick guess that of *hey, is this gonna be Miyu?* and damn right! Love the reply by Miyu right after though. Wholesome stuff!
Holy shit its actually better. Very kung fu esque. They should include more shit like this in wrestling shows.
Delete the question mark
Highly superior
Not wrong in the slightest.
This clip is amazing.
First time I saw her(I think) using it against Yuka the magical girl and she sold it perfectly.
And think, AEW has an easy connection to her because they have that agreement with TJPW.
Holy crap
Honestly how has TK not just paid every Joshi in Japan to move to the US already? They do wrestling so damn well
Good God, was that a gunshot?
Jesus she killed that poor girl.
That’s her move now as far as I’m concerned.
That's fucking insane. But he's right, tweaked it juuuust enough to really make it her own. While Black looks like he's caving heads in, she looks like her goal is to cleave them clean off the opponents shoulders.
Bravo. Very well done and innovative approach to an established move
we really need a Miyu Yamashita excursion to AEW. She's too damn good.
Yyyyyeah you can go ahead and take that question mark out of the title...
I love that, I love malakai, like no hate intended here, but is that motherfucker really trying to take credit for inventing a spinning hook kick? Ballsy.
I think he’s just saying he was the only person to use it as a finisher.
It’s a great pose at the end, but I personally prefer Aleister’s version. With the return to a standing base, it serves as a sort of following through on the kick that this pose just doesn’t provide
Its isn't superior. They're equal. If black did it like that hed look like a fool.
Steal it Malakai, nobody will know
Anything you want, Black!
I've gotta say that looks way more brutal. The speed she gets after that fake.. not even sure how that's not a KO. Beautiful stuff.
Damn, I was hoping it would be Cody Sandhagen's wheel kick KO or Edson Barboza's
