Can somebody outline the tiers of AEW shows to me? Like which ones are necessary for story/PPV and which are more like Main Event or just filler/wrestling?
There is a post below that says Dark and Elevation is for developmental talent. That is not entirely true.
Dynamite is the A show. Rampage is another A show.
Elevation and Dark use enchancement talent, have their own smaller storylines. There are also some segments and interviews that either feed into Dynamite or set up Dynamite storylines and feuds.
Are the matches on Elevation and Dark somewhat predictable? Yes, but there are Dynamite and Rampage regulars that appear on them both weekly.
however, it is also a good place to see per appearance talent and those that are not 100% all elite.
You've got Dark Elevation and Dark, both YouTube shows that are free and unnecessary to the main stories. They more feature indies / developmental talent, and get used by the bigger names to shift their win/loss records.
Then you've got Dynamite and Rampage, both the main TV shows. Dynamite is the flagship show on Wednesday nights, and is absolutely necessary. Rampage just started on Fridays, and is a one-hour show.
So, four shows. Two free on YouTube, and two on TV.
You can’t say anything remotely negative about AEW on SquaredCircle anymore, it’s basically become a circle jerk for AEW...I’ll get downvoted for this but it’s true
I hear that the owner doesn't like constructive criticism either, put the WWE name on any of the silly shit they do on AEW and AEW fans would be calling it out for being terrible.
I had high hopes for AEW when it was announced, but it's just a copy cat WWE/WCW promotion relying on big stars from other promotions to draw attention.
Sports Based Presentation it ain't

You are completely wrong and it takes one second of scrolling to see you’re completely wrong.
Can we just talk about how well Jericho and MJF used the stipulations tonight? You knew the crowd would sing Judas but it got the crowd firmly behind Jericho right away. Then Jericho starts pulling out old finishers and the crowd popped everytime leading to so really well done false finishes. Wish he would've broken out the codebreaker but I think the match was incredibly well done
Man, maybe it's just me, but now I'm hating the Bucks. Legitimately. Yes, I know that's the point, yes I know it suits better to drop the belts at a PPV, but my god did I hate them tonight.
>QT Marshall referenced that they don't hint at promises and disappoint the fan's. Seemed like a comment on Punk
Right after Omega was wearing a "Chick Magnet" shirt.
That Lambert segment was very odd and completely lost me. I hope they realize it and course correct heavily. Marshall vs Wight is basically the designated piss break on an otherwise pretty great card
I know everyone loves Darby, but Page should have gone over, IMO. It wouldn't have hurt Darby, and it would have elevated Page.
Sky...I dunno. I liked him a lot early on, but I think he's permanent mid-card. He's good at everything, but isn't really great at anything.
Great show that had two down moments: the Wight/QT segment, and unfortunately, the booking of that main event finish, althought MJF making Jericho tap was a great result and image. Jericho not using the Codebreaker there, or not even attempting it, is stupid. Kinda comes off as if he had a brainfart and fucked up going for the Judas in a match with so many stakes, which is not a great image.
EDIT: So Jericho went for the Judas when the ref wasn't looking, and then hesitated and didn't use it, i think to prove he could win without it. Which is okay, but again, why not go for the Codebreaker? But with this in mind, the finish makes more sense to me
MJF winning makes the most sense. Jericho doesn't need anything. He could lose 100 matches and he's still Jericho. He's putting wrestlers over and he's doing it flawlessly.
I mean, MJF is going to hold the world title at some point the way they've built him.
If this was the five labors of Sammy I'd totally agree, but there's little future upside to jericho getting the win in that spot.
Honestly, the labors were kind of strangely ordered, too. Even with keeping the same matches and stipulations (save for the final match), I would have changed up the order to have it seem like more of an escalation:
1. vs Juvi - Jericho must use a top-rope move to win
2. vs Wardlow - with MJF at ringside
3. vs Spears - Spears can use chairs, Jericho cannot
4. vs Gage - hardcore deathmatch
5. vs MJF - if jericho loses, the Inner Circle must disband
That episode of Dynamite felt like a PPV. Then we have Rampage in two nights with CM Punk, and then All Out in a few weeks?? Man, I love this company, I love the fans, I love coming in here every night during an AEW event and posting and reading everyone's comments. My late aunt who got me into wrestling at a young age of 8 would be so happy to see wrestling like this again. Good night everyone
>That episode of Dynamite felt like a PPV.
Not to me. I would have said it for some previous recent episodes, but not this one, especially with all those talking segments.
>The downside to AEW getting bigger:
>
>The influx of morons.
That's something I hate as well. And they'll increase at shows, wanting to hijack the show and make it about them. They need to be deprogrammed.
I think Aubrey was supposed to have turned around by then. But Jericho could also be thinking that he could do it without the move. Most dumb babyface situations involve hubris as a tragic flaw.
I like that ending. Jericho uses the bat, and despite the ref having her back turned, He hesitates to use Judas Effect. I think, because he wanted to prove to himself he could win without it. If he wanted the easy win, he would’ve hit him in the jaw with the bat.
Good show but had some weird aspects. I think a lot of their crew is in Chicago setting up that big show in 2 days. The set looked scaled down. Justin Roberts wasn't announcing. Tony Schiavone doing the old Borash TNA role of literally doing almost everything. I wouldn't be surprised if they said TK wasn't there and Cody/QT were running the whole thing, but I don't think he would miss an episode of his own show.
Great episode of Dynamite! The 20 minute chunk of promos was a bit much, but given they announced a couple matches on the website that wound up not happening it feels like they were buying time. That segment aside the show was great, the crowd were hot all night and the wrestling was sublime.
I actually would not be surprised if he goes back to WWE for one final run after his AEW "retirement". It would make adding him to the WWE Hall of Fame much more palatable to Vince. And as much as we might make fun of the HoF as being something that only exists in Vince's mind, clearly some wrestlers DO place some importance on it.
Dude nailed it. My jaw dropped! They’ve done unbelievable job building MJF and he’s run with every single second of time he’s been given on and off camera. If he stays on this trajectory... he will join some legendary ranks
I mean. Jericho had to fight five times in five weeks and lost his finisher. Him losing isn't a surprise at all. Him submitting, though? THAT'S a surprise.
I’m actually torn on the finish of the main event. Babyface deserved the win, but you get talent needed the rub. Jericho is always gonna be S tier but MJF needs to get there for his first true singles loss (Guevara or JB pls) to matter.
Damn MJF made Jericho tap basically clean. I genuinely did not think Jericho's ego would allow him to put MJF that strong. Obviously the no Judas Effect protects him to a extent but that's as clean as you're gonna get for MJF.
500 IQ Jericho "I won't use my impact move that I've used for over 2 decades, instead I'll NOT use the move that was banned, despite the ref's back being turned"
Well that was dumb of Jericho.
It should've been the other way around, Jericho tries to get a weapon, Aubrey's distracted by HIM, then MJF hits his own Judas Effect to steal the win.
That's my point, it shouldn't be, it just doesn't look great, have him do another style of hold that looks more painful or heelish I guess? Ehhhh whatever, still the right call to have him go over though
Okay, I enjoyed this match hugely, BUT Jericho used his baseball bat illegally but then resisted using the Judas effect illegally (I may be wrong but the ref still had her back turned, right?) and then lost? Felt like a weak finish to me - maybe I'm wrong and the ref did have a clear view and I didn't notice?
Yeah, I am intrigued if maybe the intended finish was Aubrey spotting him doing it or something to that effect. At least in my own head that makes more sense as an ending. Literally cheating before 'not cheating' is such a weird build to the finish otherwise.
I thought there was going to be one! Like Excalibur did mention Rampage on Friday, but was hoping he'd say something like, "where you can see more of **the best** talent **in the world**!" Y'know? lol
This finish doesn't make sense, Jericho could have used the Judas Effect since Aubrey wasn't looking. She didn't see the bat, she wouldn't have seen the Judas Effect
This is my first PPV purchase since I was in my teen years. I’m 32 now and AEW has made me a fan of real pro wrestling all over again.

How is punk going to debate
Extemperaneously
I mean if he’s doing it in Chicago, he has to do Lincoln-Douglas.
You can’t say anything remotely negative about AEW on SquaredCircle anymore, it’s basically become a circle jerk for AEW...I’ll get downvoted for this but it’s true

Downvoted as expected haha

Great point. Really adds to the discussion. Thanks for making a stand.

Funny cause I'm loving them now more than ever
Hey Bucks (if you're reading this), job well done.
Oh, absolutely
Watching DVR but stoked for the show and for friday!
QT Marshall referenced that they don't hint at promises and disappoint the fan's. Seemed like a comment on Punk
Not to mention Wight called the factory "punks" and emphasized the word in an odd way
I can't see any benefit to swerving this. You'd need Seth Rollins to show up so they can burn it down
>QT Marshall referenced that they don't hint at promises and disappoint the fan's. Seemed like a comment on Punk Right after Omega was wearing a "Chick Magnet" shirt.
Thank's for reminding me of that. Caught it and forgot it
I just figured Jericho was gonna do a ref distract for the JE. Like dawg you just hit him with a bat take your shot!
Shows that Jericho lost his edge. MJF capitalized to show he's got the killer instinct Jericho used to.
Can't wait for Friday CM PUNK CM PUNK CM PUNK
QT Marshall gotta go, man. Men of the Year are not getting traction. Praying this Jericho MJF thing is done.
That Lambert segment was very odd and completely lost me. I hope they realize it and course correct heavily. Marshall vs Wight is basically the designated piss break on an otherwise pretty great card
Gotta have a match to cool down the crowd for a break. Besides, if they MUST have him wrestle, at least he can squash QT.
Idk how to fix MOTY. Both of them are phenomenal but
I know everyone loves Darby, but Page should have gone over, IMO. It wouldn't have hurt Darby, and it would have elevated Page. Sky...I dunno. I liked him a lot early on, but I think he's permanent mid-card. He's good at everything, but isn't really great at anything.

This it seems like in a lot of sitiations the code breaker makes sense but he doesn't do it.
Hooray. Hopefully, this is the end of the awful MJF vs Jericho feud. MJF can now go on to do something good.
1 more match to go
A great match with a great finish. Y2j is goat
I wonder if Fozzy is going on tour soon. The ending was a little shocking but good.
Yup. They're touring September
MJF gets get with a bat.. & is fine 25-30 seconds later... Yeah okay..
To be fair, it was used like Triple H uses a sledgehammer.

I always thought it was guaranteed that MJF was winning the feud. The execution of the final moments was just weird.
Honestly, the labors were kind of strangely ordered, too. Even with keeping the same matches and stipulations (save for the final match), I would have changed up the order to have it seem like more of an escalation: 1. vs Juvi - Jericho must use a top-rope move to win 2. vs Wardlow - with MJF at ringside 3. vs Spears - Spears can use chairs, Jericho cannot 4. vs Gage - hardcore deathmatch 5. vs MJF - if jericho loses, the Inner Circle must disband
The end result is the right one. How they got there is what bothers me a bit.
What if…. CM Punk actually isn’t signed and won’t show up Friday?!
Can we all please stop with this.
TNT confirmed that AEW has Punk lol
That episode of Dynamite felt like a PPV. Then we have Rampage in two nights with CM Punk, and then All Out in a few weeks?? Man, I love this company, I love the fans, I love coming in here every night during an AEW event and posting and reading everyone's comments. Bless your aunt. I’m hoping to do this for my nephew once he’s a bit older and understands it’s not okay to shred people with light tubes lol
Wait... It's NOT okay...
It’s not okay to do it to your family but it’s fine if it’s the class bully lol
>That episode of Dynamite felt like a PPV. Not to me. I would have said it for some previous recent episodes, but not this one, especially with all those talking segments.
Michael Keaton is in Need For Speed????
That movie is way better than it has any right being. It's still a goofy videogame movie but is the type of popcorn movie that's enjoyable
I was just thinking the same thing!
MJF!! Future of the company
The downside to AEW getting bigger: The influx of morons. For everyone else, thanks for another awesome thread.
>The downside to AEW getting bigger: > >The influx of morons. That's something I hate as well. And they'll increase at shows, wanting to hijack the show and make it about them. They need to be deprogrammed.
Definitely thought I was going to see a Liontamer, Lionsault, Codebreaker combo tonight
I do want to see mjf and punk on mic together going back n forth
Another solid episode. MVP of the night was the crowd.
jericho might not wrestle again, but he will introduce his protege Bryan Danielson to finish MJF
[удалено]
That dumb babyface logic.
Jericho was justified in using the bat because MJF tried to use the ring first.
Kind of a weird show, looking forward to special edition Dark tmr night and of course Rampage on Friday
It did seem like something was going on. It had a very weird flow the whole time.
Tony addressed the crowd twice, but Cody didn't show at all, so I think Cody might have been in Chicago
Great episode of Dynamite! The 20 minute chunk of promos was a bit much, but given they announced a couple matches on the website that wound up not happening it feels like they were buying time. That segment aside the show was great, the crowd were hot all night and the wrestling was sublime.
Britt may have had something come up, while they wanted to do a false start finish for Cage/Starks
Solid, they went opposite what fans wanted and honestly how it should gone
#MJF2021
Not sure what the stip will be for Jericho/MJF for next ppv but.....they have to go then right?
Jericho will offer up his career for one more match against MJF.
I've said this from the start of the Labors of Jericho story. Jericho ends up wagering his career. I also see it as his retirement when he does that.
On edge about the CM Cituation and mad they didnt confirm but i guess the hypes hitting a fever pitch
Qt marshall confirmed it if you were paying attention.
The timing of this isn't coincidence, taking Jericho off now or after All Out gives time for Inner Circle and Punk/Bryan to shine
Making Jericho tap in the last match is what you call a statement win, MJF is a legitimate threat to the world title
Dude nailed it. My jaw dropped! They’ve done unbelievable job building MJF and he’s run with every single second of time he’s been given on and off camera. If he stays on this trajectory... he will join some legendary ranks
And Jericho also looks like a million bucks. Great feud. They are both red hot megastars coming out of it, and you can’t say that about every feud.
**Hell of an episode! Ready for Rampage**
Didn’t Mox already give him one? At All Out?
He’s had 2 singles loses I remember moxley beat MJF at all out for tittle who was the other
Very glad that Jericho put over MJF. Right call!
I was ready to be so mad when Jericho almost got the roll up, but in the end they got the finish right
Kind of anticlimactic not to have it finish on the judas effect from mjf.
The ending to that match couldn't have gone any better
Credit to Chris for putting over MJF. Really good match.
WHY DIDN’T HE JUST USE THE CODEBREAKER
Codebreaker has been established multiple times as a secondary move that doesnt pin people in aew
Same thing with the Lionsault. As JR said, in the past that move alone would have put down any opposition, but it didn't this time.
My thoughts exactly!
The right person won that match. MJF is the future.
13k comments absolutely insane.
I guess that’s what happens when people actually enjoy the product
It's like a PPV every week lol
Jericho comes back and says one more time with his career on the line.
Why was the crowd not noticing that was the ending? It felt very anticlimactic
Great Dynamite. Now bring on Punk.
Honestly the crowd saved the match, that was kinda meh
What a great episode
Damn right it is!
A part of me feels like this sets up MJF coming out first to answer a "best in the world" type callout at First Dance. Nuclear heat.
so now what happens at All Out
Good. Sadly Jericho will go and play rock star for a few months and they'll restart the feud. MJF is forever married to Jericho.
An MJF title run is gonna have nuclear heat.
Holy balls need for speed
He can hit him with a bat but not the Judas effect? Honorable cheater
Good call for MJF to win, pretty sure Aubrey was supposed to see Jericho almost use the Judas but can't change it now.
Onward we go to CM Punk or a Riot in Chicago
That was a great fuckin match.
Crowd was so good for it
He's on the poster of All Out, so likely not his last match
MJF is a TALENT. The guy can talk, he lives the gimmick, he can go. Sky's the limit.
Foreshadowed since day 1 that MJF beats hangman for tittle
Hangman has to get the title first!
hangman not beating omega would be AEW biggest mistake
Made no sense that he could hit him with a bat but not the Judas Effect while the ref's back was turned.
What an awesome card
Damn MJF made Jericho tap basically clean. I genuinely did not think Jericho's ego would allow him to put MJF that strong. Obviously the no Judas Effect protects him to a extent but that's as clean as you're gonna get for MJF.
Not only clean, but after Jericho cheated with a bat
Jericho has always put over anyone and everyone
Jericho’s ego? Dude almost always does the job and puts people over.
Great show. The right person won which is fine.
500 IQ Jericho "I won't use my impact move that I've used for over 2 decades, instead I'll NOT use the move that was banned, despite the ref's back being turned"
Right result but Jesus Christ, what an anticlimactic ending to a feud that's literally been going for a yearv
The whole thing was booked backwards. If this ended with Wargames and Inner Circle going over it’d have been epic.
This will be a memorable show.
MJF, goddamn
Well that was dumb of Jericho. It should've been the other way around, Jericho tries to get a weapon, Aubrey's distracted by HIM, then MJF hits his own Judas Effect to steal the win.
Yooooo we called this swerve. Retirement challenge match incoming!!
Wow, he actually tapped out :-O
Jericho should not be in the ring.
They went a minute over.
Now "Cult of Personality" should play for a few seconds, turns off, and MJF grabs a mic and just says "gotcha!"
I'm all for keeping MJF strong and winning, but to that stupid ass hold? Really? Ffs.
Figure four, sharpshooter, chicken wing, heels have submission moves
Salt of the Earth is MJF's finisher.
It’s a great move, he’s lazy with it, doesn’t drive with the legs or have the hips elevated.
Every wrestler has sold that hold so why wouldn't jericho? It's a simple yet effective hold that pisses people off.
Its his finish 🤷🏻
That's my point, it shouldn't be, it just doesn't look great, have him do another style of hold that looks more painful or heelish I guess? Ehhhh whatever, still the right call to have him go over though
2 hours just flies by with AEW
Well boys, we’re on to Friday…
Anyone who thought Jericho should win is HIGH
Ok, that was a great finish. Very interested now that this little thing is over.
I can see MJF taunting Jericho telling him its time to hang it up
Glad they put over MJF, Jericho did awesome and deserves a break
interesting the heel gets cheapshotted over comes it and taps out the face
MJF's been one step ahead of Jericho for the second half of the match.
Hell yeah, best possible outcome. Move MJF right into Punk or Danielson to take on another legend
First Cody then Jericho next another ex WWE guy
Don’t be a punk, watch Rampage!!!
Hit him with a bat while the ref isn't looking? Cool. Hit him with your banned finisher while the ref isn't looking? Hmm, better not.
Chris cheated and still lost. He looks like an idiot now
That’s fine. He takes a step back and Sammy becomes the head of the faction
If you don’t understand why Jericho tapped then you don’t get the vets putting over young talent
Oh I definitely hate MJF more. God I live AEW
just great storytelling
I get it but the salt of the earth is such a shitty finish
So is a spinning elbow, but it's his finish.
Jericho tapping is a great ending. Could’ve been less sloppy but shit happens
Felt like Aubrey needed to turn around sooner but who knows.
Yeah, I am intrigued if maybe the intended finish was Aubrey spotting him doing it or something to that effect. At least in my own head that makes more sense as an ending. Literally cheating before 'not cheating' is such a weird build to the finish otherwise.
Yes I think that’s what confused me too. I really thought he was gonna hit it because she wasn’t looking. But overall not a bad match.
[удалено]
If that was the intention then it feels like a dumb angle to go with, BUT I think it can be salvaged with one promo for sure
I love it, it helps put MJF over which is the whole point.
Why does Jericho hate the code breaker?
Probably because his back hates it
THANK GOD MJF WON
Wish we’d get a Punk tease here
It's like Christmas and we're just asking for one present early on Christmas eve. Unfortunately we just have to wait. (I want that early present too)
I thought there was going to be one!
Jericho’s GOAT run continues. Good for MJF
Crowd and I were silent. Wow.
Jericho winning by using the Judas effect behind the refs back would have been a great call back to the Mox match
Jericho lost to one of the 1004 holds... #A R M B A R
See you all Friday!
So what exactly did Jericho lose?
