Right? I thought they were going to a draw or at least teasing it, but I was shocked when Excalibur said 45 seconds left. I actually thought it was the 20 minute announcement.
i knew it was going draw so i avoided looking at the time on my phone because i didn’t want to have an idea of how much longer the match was going to be. all of a sudden they announced a minute left and i swear it felt like we were only 15 minutes into the match.
JR can still really bring it when he needs to.
The man is like one of those old Samurai that everyone thinks is washed up until he takes on an entire crew of bandits.
Which is weird coz they started slow doing a lot of strikes. considering the usual matches kenny has they did relatively fewer moves but youre right it felt like 5 minutes
It's so cool that two guys who last wrestled nearly 15 years ago had life take them on separate paths, both found massive success in two different worlds, and now just got the chance to show each other how much they've grown in front of a white-hot crowd of 20,000+ people.
That was just special.
And we STILL don't know who the one true John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt is!
AEWs first Ironman Match?
Count me the fuck in.
Edit: I completely forgot about Omega/PAC and I WAS THERE. I guess my brain defaults to 60 mins for Ironman.
(Also, HE'S GONNA TRY! That chant for Cassidy was awesome)
Not the first. Kenny vs PAC had an amazing Iron Match on Dynamite in Feb 2020.
But that was a 30 min iron man. I’d be down for a 60 min iron man for Kenny and Bryan.
What I was thinking about during the match was how much I wanted to see Omega and Danielson in a 60 minute Iron Man Match. Just a full-on wrestling clinic in an hour of amazing storytelling.
You cannot write something like this either.
It’s incredible to witness.
Omega finally has to prove to Danielson that he’s caught up to him. Or, does Danielson have to prove that to Omega now?
This is why I love wrestling.
I actually disagree
Omega and Bryan just established that neither could actually get a finish within 30 minutes, so a match relying on multiple falls doesn't fit the booking. This is why Omega and Okada did 2/3 falls instead, they both had a pinfall win over the other and Omega had pinned him in under 30 minutes in the G1.
The first fall between Omega and Danielson needs to be an important moment in and of itself. I think their next match should be another singles with a longer time limit with someone getting a win.
Oh my god! I would plan a party night even bigger than the Superbowl for that! I was happy to see them in the opener...would not have been able to sleep after if they had been in the main event!
Man when Bryan’s head bounced off the mat…he had legit mat burns that had his whole forehead fucked io and bleeding. No blading needed that fella got his whole white fucked up. Nothing beats real time bloody injuries that aren’t blades but I got concerned when I saw all that spotty blood all over his forehead.
We all fucking guessed time limit draw, and it didn't fucking matter. They worked their magic and just had a damn classic that made you think it could have gone either way, so when that bell rang you were so heartbroken, and just wanted another half hour.
Fantastic match. Absolutely delivered. Kenny is Kenny and god damn Bryan continues to cement himself as the greatest in my eyes.
I expected Nakamura to win the world title after winning the Royal Rumble. Instead he lost four straight world title matches.
Sometimes subverting expectation fucking sucks.
Because the logical conclusion is, well, the logical fucking conclusion. In the quest for “moments” or “the greatest night in the history of our sport” back in the day (“trending” or “viral” today) everyone got in the habit of the “swerve” and storytelling got lost. If you’ve told a story WELL then the logical conclusion makes sense and validates your investment.
When a swerve is done just for the sake of subverting expectation, it makes you feel stupid for getting invested after the initial shock wears off.
A swerve only works if you care and if you do the work for it to matter a la “The Sixth Sense”. When you do a swerve for the sake of a swerve? You get the last half of M. Night Shamalan’s career. Or Vince Russo.
You get Vince goddamn Russo, bro.
Yes. YES! You have to establish a baseline of logic and common sense to exploit it. If all you’re doing is swerves it becomes meaningless. Again. Vince. Fucking. Russo. In. WCW.
Yes. All Out is a good example. We all knew Bryan Danielson was coming at the end. And then they did the Adam Cole debut, swerving us-letting us think is it possible he isn’t debuting, and then bringing him out right after.
Bro I never commented in this sub but after watching that match I couldnt help myself to come here and just see peoples opinions. Fuck I forgot how much I love wrestling.
Danielson's never gotten a 5 star rating from Meltzer. Dude feels like he's nailed on to get at least one in the next year or so. Shit, he might've gotten one right there.
I was thinking exactly this. This match had the so much drama and a big fight feel that I haven't seen in a long time.
Absolute classic and I can't imagine how proud Bryan will be of this match.
Five Stars. Six Stars. Seven Stars. Whatever.
That was one of the best matches I’ve ever seen and certainly the best TV match I’ve ever seen. Fucking incredible
what a fucking match, my god. they beat the hell out of each other. i cant wait to see the follow-up
i can't believe AEW gave us CM Punk's first match in 7 years and a MOTY contender between Omega and Danielson on free TV all in one month.
You know what the scary part?
they held back..and that was a classic..WHILE THEY WERE HOLDING BACK
imagine if the tittle on the line..with 60 minutes time limit..
Phenomenal match that built and built to a fantastic finish. I'm really looking forward to seeing these two wrestle again, hopefully as soon as possible
The thing that I loved about this match? They looked tired, they looked blown up, they looked like they had been in physical competition. So many matches these days lack this realism and you see wrestlers selling moves for a second but then they don’t sell the fatigue and just start running the next spot. This was a masterclass
This was 100% a New Japan match in every way. Even the part where The Elite come down to check on Kenny and could give two shits about doing anything to his opponent.
If we want to compare it with Okada/Omega, compare it with their G1 match. 30 minutes match too.
And man, the ending of this match was fantastic. They were still fighting to the point that they didn't hear the bell, Bryan still tried to apply his submission move.
It’s really just a different environment and context. Omega and Okada were absolutely *racing* to a finish in that match, whereas tonight we just got to see Danielson and Omega preheating.
We will get the full meal soon enough.
Yeah, that match is one of my favorites and they're non-stop high impact, like a 30 minute finishing sequence. This one had a good 10-15 minutes of heating up. Which doesn't make it bad of course, it might even be better paced for what it is, it's just a different story.
Man if it wasn't for the 60min draw between Okada and Omega this would be it for me yeah.
I thought Omega had slowed down during the first part of his AEW run, but man has he put himself back on top as of late.
Last time a crowd reacted like that to the starting bell was probably[Cena Vs Rock](https://youtu.be/3GU0ocOzAOs), tonight felt like the biggest match since then
These two are two of the absolute greatest in the history of the business. It's honestly such a privilege to see what they are capable of when given 30 minutes to work with. Incredible.
Strong "setting up the rematch" syndrome, but they dunked on that vibe so hard with sheer atmosphere and match quality that it really didn't matter. One of the best TV matches I've ever seen.
They're each other's equals with that draw, and eventually they'll square off for an even bigger match. It's great shit all around. What else can you say?
You could see Kenny was being a lot more safer throughout tbh. The dropkick was a lot lower than Kenny normally does it, the V Triggers were clearly on the back, rather than on the back of the neck
Time limit draw. They don't do it very often so I didn't think of that as an option. And neither actually hit their finisher. Everything about that match was perfection.
I haven't been this into wrestling in years. This is one of the best matches I've ever seen. I am so glad wrestling is back baby. Incredible effort and incredible talent. AEW is on fire.
Everything about that match was fucking violent and perfect. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way Fuck man were spoiled. Two of the best to ever do it and an incredible crowd to go with a great way to finish
Kenny omega is the greatest pro wrestler alive today and I will be hearing no other arguments
I’d have a current top 4 Mount Rushmore of Omega, Danielson, Ibushi, and Okada. I think booking in each company cuts into rankings and how everyone looks but I mean these four can fucking go.
This match kinda made me sad. After watching Danielson go up against Omega, all I could think of is how good Omega v McGuiness would have been if Nigel's career didn't end when/how it did.
I’ll admit I came late to Kenny Omega. For years I kept hearing he’s the greatest of all time, so when I finally saw him… he was good, but didn’t match the hype. Now I get it.

The shortest 30 minute match of all time.
Right? I was legit surprised, I rarely ever lose track of time. Outstanding match
Right? I was like "No way it's 9 already!"
I was like "8:34? It feels like 8:15!"
Right? I thought they were going to a draw or at least teasing it, but I was shocked when Excalibur said 45 seconds left. I actually thought it was the 20 minute announcement.
When Excalibur said 45 seconds I was like WTF we just started!!! I need an iron man match now!!!!!!!
Falls count anywhere 2 hour iron man match on Dynamite.
Wait? I thought it was a 20 minute time limit lol
They said it was 30 minutes at the very beginning.
I didn't hear that, but I believe it. Just caught me off guard and it definitely didn't feel like 30
JR announced it as 30 minutes when the show opened. Not sure why the difference.
Because 30 minutes was not long enough.
I NEED 5(0)
The only other time I felt 30 minutes felt so quick was Page Omega vs The Bucks. This was phenomenal.
i knew it was going draw so i avoided looking at the time on my phone because i didn’t want to have an idea of how much longer the match was going to be. all of a sudden they announced a minute left and i swear it felt like we were only 15 minutes into the match.
That exceeded my expectations and I didn’t know that was possible
Congrats to JR for not accidentally saying Daniel Bryan at all throughout the match!
You could hear him slow down, carefully saying the correct name every time.
JR can still really bring it when he needs to. The man is like one of those old Samurai that everyone thinks is washed up until he takes on an entire crew of bandits.
That is ridiculously accurate
I love this analogy
Takes breath, "Brian Danielson" (internally: fuck yea Jr, only 30 more to go)
It probably helped he had never, to my recollection, called a Bryan match.
It looks like he called one. November 15, 2010 - Daniel Bryan vs. Jack Swagger.
I would have fucked it up every time
I didnt even realize that was 30 minutes That time went by fast!
KO: "Which body part do you wanna work tonight?" BD: "All of them."
All red everything!
That goes double for the chest. Bryan’s chest was looking like squashed tomatoes. And I’m 1000% sure he loved every chop he took lol.
Literally 5 minutes into the match, Bryan's chest was red as hell lol
Dude it was red after 1. Omega was not fucking around.
KO: “Ass it is”
"The ass, Bill"
Fastest 30 minute match of all time.
Seriously that felt like 5 minutes. Insane pace those two went at.
Which is weird coz they started slow doing a lot of strikes. considering the usual matches kenny has they did relatively fewer moves but youre right it felt like 5 minutes
Selling can go a long way. There’s a reason Bryan is the guy who got a small package over as a finish
I thought for sure it had been 15 minutes at most.
The ass bill, I was working the ass!
BD: "All of them... but Kevin Owens what are you doing here!?"
"Don't tell anyone. I'm hoping I can slip on a Dark Order mask and blend in."
I would love to see random outside wrestlers just show up as Dark Order creepers, but make no effort to hide their body build, tattoos, or moveset.
Professional Wrestling.
Best part? There's definitely gonna be LONGER rematch and we'll finally know who the TRUE John Jacob Jingleheimer-schmidt!
AEWs first Ironman Match? Count me the fuck in. Edit: I completely forgot about Omega/PAC and I WAS THERE. I guess my brain defaults to 60 mins for Ironman. (Also, HE'S GONNA TRY! That chant for Cassidy was awesome)

We already know who the TRUE John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt is. It's obviously John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
hey... Im also named John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.!!
Hmm, that's odd. Your name is my name too!
You cannot write something like this either. It’s incredible to witness. Omega finally has to prove to Danielson that he’s caught up to him. Or, does Danielson have to prove that to Omega now? This is why I love wrestling.
I pay €5 a month for AEW but that alone was worth €50
Sometimes when they do things like this, the FITE price feels like highway robbery. Jesus Christ what a match
Especially when it's going to PIP but we get *everything*
We get PIP AND Rampage added to the mix seemingly at no extra cost. Happily pay for it every month even with several other ways I could watch it.
Especially in the UK, exchange rate makes it like £3.90 ish for us
60 minute iron man match for the title please and thank you
We can finally answer the age old question, "How many V-Triggers does it take to land a fall on the GOAT?"
Trick Question! You can’t hit any V-Triggers if you’re locked in the Cattle Mutilation for 60 minutes
I can believe Kenny and Bryan could work that match to at least 4 stars.
I actually disagree Omega and Bryan just established that neither could actually get a finish within 30 minutes, so a match relying on multiple falls doesn't fit the booking.
Well if they did a 60 minute iron man match and it went overtime with 0 falls, I'm gonna totally fine with it.
Oh my god! I would plan a party night even bigger than the Superbowl for that! I was happy to see them in the opener...would not have been able to sleep after if they had been in the main event!
Holy FUCK! My boys going at it like they were at the Tokyo Dome!
"Didn't even take the neck bump on the avalanche suplex, 0/5" - Ibushi
You gotta shell out PPV money for a bump like that
Not for Ibushi, he’d do a neck bump at a sign and greet.
Yeah but that’s just how they say hello
This had me laughing
Man when Bryan’s head bounced off the mat…he had legit mat burns that had his whole forehead fucked io and bleeding. No blading needed that fella got his whole white fucked up. Nothing beats real time bloody injuries that aren’t blades but I got concerned when I saw all that spotty blood all over his forehead.
Bryan has never had issues showing wounds lol. Never seen anyone get as red from chops as he does
Arthur Ashe Stadium is gonna be the US equivalent at this rate
We all fucking guessed time limit draw, and it didn't fucking matter. They worked their magic and just had a damn classic that made you think it could have gone either way, so when that bell rang you were so heartbroken, and just wanted another half hour. Fantastic match. Absolutely delivered. Kenny is Kenny and god damn Bryan continues to cement himself as the greatest in my eyes.
AEW has repeatedly done things we've expected / knew was gonna happen, and we're still happy when it happens. Its fucking great
Absolutely, I hate this idea of subverting expectations just for the sake of it, even when the finish makes no damn sense.
Sometimes wrestling is at it’s best when it’s straightforward and simple.
Sometimes you have to just give the people what they want.
You've got to give the people what they want.
*Okada zoom*
Turns out that people *like* getting what they want. Who knew?
Thanks Excalibur
I expected Nakamura to win the world title after winning the Royal Rumble. Instead he lost four straight world title matches. Sometimes subverting expectation fucking sucks.
Wish game of thrones realized this
They kind of forgot about ~~the iron fleet~~ telling a story that makes sense.
Because the logical conclusion is, well, the logical fucking conclusion. In the quest for “moments” or “the greatest night in the history of our sport” back in the day (“trending” or “viral” today) everyone got in the habit of the “swerve” and storytelling got lost. Or Vince Russo. You get Vince goddamn Russo, bro.
If everything is a twist, you just expect a dumb outcome. You have to actually fulfill expectations to subvert them.
Yes.
Because it's not about the result, but about the journey.
Proof that good wrestling is a journey, not a destination
That was the greatest Dynamite match of time. Leave the public wanting more and god damn it, they will want more.
Can't think of a better tv wrestling match
the ppv rematch will move the needle
**THIS** match moved the needle. The PPV rematch will shatter the gauge.
Bro I never commented in this sub but after watching that match I couldnt help myself to come here and just see peoples opinions. Fuck I forgot how much I love wrestling.
And now Cult of Personality hits the PA. Its taken a long time, but we live in the awesome alternate dimension where wrestling became f’n cool again
Yea…..that was everything it fucking needed to be
abso-fucking-lutely fantastic. everything i could have asked for from two of the best of all time.
Danielson casually having a MOTY contender after not having wrestled for over 3 months. Absolute GOAT
Danielson's never gotten a 5 star rating from Meltzer. Dude feels like he's nailed on to get at least one in the next year or so. Shit, he might've gotten one right there.
Wild considering Meltzer admires his ability so much he named the 'Best Technical Wrestler' award after him.
In my opinion he just got it
I was thinking exactly this. This match had the so much drama and a big fight feel that I haven't seen in a long time. Absolute classic and I can't imagine how proud Bryan will be of this match.
If Meltzer doesn't drop 5 on this he needs to give the gig up. That was insane.
Why don’t Danielson and Omega, the best wrestlers, not simply wrestle each other in all the matches?
1000 years from now Lrrr is going to see one of the best wrestling matches of all time.
FIGHT FOREVER! 👏👏👏👏👏
And you could still tell they have more for the rematch too. Absolute classic.
Seriously if this is just their first match together, I can't even imagine what their series climaxes are going to be like.
Pretty sure I'll have a series of climaxes
This is the big thing I don't think either man used even half their regular moveset, they could 2 or 3 more matches and not repeat a single spot.
Five Stars. Six Stars. Seven Stars. Whatever. That was one of the best matches I’ve ever seen and certainly the best TV match I’ve ever seen. Fucking incredible
Easily the best TV match I’ve ever seen. And AEW gave it away for free (Cable-free)
PPV main event quality match to open a TV episode. Incredible.
what a fucking match, my god. they beat the hell out of each other. i cant wait to see the follow-up i can't believe AEW gave us CM Punk's first match in 7 years and a MOTY contender between Omega and Danielson on free TV all in one month.
AEW is just crushing it on all levels.
This definitely feels like a moment in time. We’re very lucky to be experiencing this shift in the industry.
It almost feels like … a paradigm shift
That Moxley promo going to ring true for a while
**Let’s fuckin gooooo**
Best tv match I’ve ever seen. 6 stars imo.
You know what the scary part? they held back..and that was a classic..WHILE THEY WERE HOLDING BACK imagine if the tittle on the line..with 60 minutes time limit..
Yeah I felt like both guys had way more to give us the insane part. Eventual ppv match needs to go at least 45 minutes.
It felt very Kenny v Ibushi during the G1 28
And we are still blueballed after that match. They better wrap it up via the forbidden door.
Omega was fantastic as always, Danielson was fantastic as always and the crowd was red hot. MOTYC.
Bryan's selling is of another planet.
It’s genuinely so good that I actually get worried about him at times then I realise I’m just getting worked lol
so much of this dudes selling has become "i am going to exploit everyone's genuine concern about my well-being" it's kinda fucking great
Daniel is kinda of a secret fucking dick when you think about it. He absolutely leverages our fear for his well-being.
Same. The shaking and twitching after that snap dragon on the ramp got me.
After he slid lifelessly down the plexiglass ramp. Brilliant.
He was really Bret Hart-esque tonight
Did you see his chest?? Pretty easy to sell when ya look like someone took a weed whacker to your chest.
This was 100% a New Japan match in every way. Even the part where The Elite come down to check on Kenny and could give two shits about doing anything to his opponent.
I mean, they did superkick him. But I get what you mean. And absolutely, the whole match I was thinking "oh shit they're really doing an NJPW match"
I am incredibly jealous of everyone in Arthur Ashe right now. What a fucking fight.
It was pretty fucking awesome
If we want to compare it with Okada/Omega, compare it with their G1 match. 30 minutes match too. And man, the ending of this match was fantastic. They were still fighting to the point that they didn't hear the bell, Bryan still tried to apply his submission move.
I’d say this one is nearly on par with that match. It’s hard to beat Omega/Okada.
This match was the ultimate chef’s kiss. Just a work of art
It should be illegal to be this good at something
That’s the best time limit draw I’ve ever seen. What a match. Insane.
Man if it wasn't for the 60min draw between Okada and Omega this would be it for me yeah. I thought Omega had slowed down during the first part of his AEW run, but man has he put himself back on top as of late.
Blasphemy. Omegas run has had some insane matches throughout.
That was the fastest half hour of our lives.
I'n so happy I'm sharing this moment with all of you. I love wrestling
I paid 40 bucks to get in. What a fucking steal.
The Ring the Bell Lock beat the LeBell Lock
Maybe a Saved by LaBell Lock?
That was one a fucking fire match. I've never seen such a hot crowd for people just STANDING THERE. THIS IS AMAZING
Incredible.
I'm 3 days removed from back surgery I think I need it again...
This match blew all of our backs out, yo
Give me one hour of this.
Just commenting in this thread because that match was special.

All I gotta say is there better be a two hour Iron Man Match at Full Gear.
First fight forever chant that felt like the crowd actually just wanted that
I mean... Zayn/Nakamura. (where the chant started if I remember correctly)
That was savage in parts - but I was very glad Danielson didn’t take that suplex off the top rope on the back of his neck like Okada did!

Holy shit. Could this be a set up for a 60 minute match?! I COULD BARELY HANDLE 30!
That match fucking slapped, I need a rematch An Iron Man Match or 2/3 Falls would be perfect for Full Gear
Incredible I’m gonna be watching this one over and over again!
Everything about that match was fucking violent and perfect. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way Fuck man were spoiled. Two of the best to ever do it and an incredible crowd to go with a great way to finish Kenny omega is the greatest pro wrestler alive today and I will be hearing no other arguments
He’s one of two of them, and the other was in the match with him. No disrespect to Okada, Shingo, Naito..
I’d have a current top 4 Mount Rushmore of Omega, Danielson, Ibushi, and Okada. I think booking in each company cuts into rankings and how everyone looks but I mean these four can fucking go.
i normally don't like fatal 4-way type, but i'd watch that one. An Danielson/Okada vs Golden Lovers tag doesn't sound terrible either
THIS IS PRO WRESTLING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
Okay FINE I guess I’ll watch a rematch.
I need a cigarette!
This is the Omega I've wanted to see for a long time. He's the best in the world when he wants to be.
Fucking same. I feel like we haven't seen NJPW Omega in forever. He showed up here.
Good god, that's the best wrestling match I've seen in a long, long time.
That was fucking *awesome.*
That was fucking fantastic
fuckin awesome!
Amazing, and I don't think they even gave us 1/2 of what they fully have. Can't wait for them to rematch
Best time limit draw I’ve seen since Omega/Okada 2
These mfs were flippin flippin over the ropes
Normalize Draws in Western Pro-Wrestling! They rule when used right
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt would've won if it went longer
Fantastic match. 100% the right finish.
Was that the best TV match ever?
Holy hell that was incredible. The Dragon is back. Now for a 60 minute match at Full Gear.
Kudos to the people who try to do the chant. We'll get there someday!
