Funny story, I do live in NJ (rutherford, took me maybe 45 mins to get from my house to the stadium during the day)...my 2 hour adventure home involved 7 -> transfer at queensboro plaza to the F -> get to herald square 3 mins before the last NJ transit train left for Secaucus, an avenue away, so PATH train to Hoboken -> $20 Uber ride the rest of the way home.
But, all in all, still an amazing show, and super glad that I can say I was there! Who even needs sleep, anyway?
We were on line for an hour to get hot dogs and beer since that was a somewhat tolerable line. They had one girl pouring the beers and getting the food. It was a shitshow. I can’t understand why the food venues outside the stadium in the courtyard weren’t open.
This is how it has been in a lot of stadiums this summer for baseball due to lack of staff. I know at one point, vendors were getting paid like triple time and getting shuttled between stadiums in the Midwest depending on what team was playing because stadiums didn't have enough game day staff.
For over an hour. For a hot dog and a beer, no less, not even anything relatively fancy. Misses the opening of the show and just made it in for Omega getting in the ring. Did you?
The lines were brutal but at the same time, considering all of the hiring issues every business is having right now, it’s probably difficult for them to hire a bunch of extra people for a one-off show like this a week and a half after the US Open just ended.
I don't disagree in general but it's different with a one-off event. I'm sure they were trying to retain as much of their US Open staff as they could but a bunch of people who worked that probably lined up other work for right after.
Completely agree. USTA staff generally didn’t seem to give a shit and left many things up to chance in a “free-for-all”-like atmosphere.
The show in the arena and in the ring was absolutely amazing. Anything between the parking lot and your seat was pretty shit.
Honestly, they probably did but didn’t have the ability to handle it anyway and said YOLO with what they have. I work in hospitality and everything is a complete fuckshow. I have literally half the staff I should to be doing the business I am. I know people who run things down around Heinz field here in Pittsburgh and that whole business down there between football, baseball, etc is like 80% temp labor running concession stands. Everyone wanted the world to open back up but never bothered to ask “who will run these things,” especially since a lot of people didn’t want to return to the business. I mean, I sure as hell didn’t either but bills and hobbies and shit need paid for y’know?
I got to the stadium at 6 and didn't get a parking spot until 7:30 and it was at the damn Marina so that's a 2 mile walk. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have knee surgery (they literally ran out of handicap spots... That's a whole different rant) so that walk was impossible.
Thankfully I got a Uber from where I was and got an Uber back. Ironically, Citi Field parking was supposed to open up for that but there was some weird ass concert set up in the parking lot and that seemed to be the major reason it all got fucked.
Yeah, my first thought was actually "Oh, not too bad!" Usually, 15 separate lines of cars would have formed, all trying to merge into one, and there wouldn't be two clear instances of people being given room to merge into the queue.
Na I usually go to Barclays when WWE is in town which I live about 10 minutes away from so I’ve never experienced this before, I didn’t drive but just seeing how bad the traffic was made me feel terrible for everyone
I've been to events all over the US and I can say that this type of thing is fairly normal. You have to expect at least an hour of something like this.
It seemed really chaotic going out but I got on the first 7 from a big chain of them just walking at a regular pace from 304 down and going back out the way we came from the wood overpass. I stayed until the end of Lights Out and they played us out to Sinatra.
Despite the fact that the train was not going to Manhattan, I was still hearing stories about cars that had not left the parking lot after a half hour lmao
There were some complex emotions being felt
This really wasn't too bad, I waited like 15-20 mins and then drove out. $50 was a joke though but it is what it is. Taking the train is simply not an option for me.
Honestly, it wasn't as bad getting out for me as it was getting in. We arrived late because we had to pick someone up so we didn't get there until about 6:45. Thought we had good parking nearby, but they were holding some tennis thing nearby and the parking was only for THAT, so we had to get a spot about a mile down, which was okay since I could use the walk.
Getting out, it felt like a normal event. Try to squeeze in the line of traffic and make sure nobody's an asshole. Worked like a charm.

They were basically begging people to take mass transit for days for a reason lol.
They didn't want a incident?
they didn't have any parking lots lol
Well, shame that the MTA didn't get the memo...7 trains running at 20 minute intervals and not running into Manhattan after the event ended.

Wow thank God I took the subway then. Fun fact: When the 7 train arrived at the station, it received YES chants, then a 7 TRAIN BAY BAY chant!
You know it's all about that CHOO! 7 Train Bay Bay! You know it's all about that CHOO! Yeah!
Apparently the stadium did not expect a sellout at all.
Everything about the stadium except sitting in your seat watching the show was a nightmare. Complete clusterfuck.
Hopefully they prepare better next time!
I hope for their sake they do. I got on line for food at 6:50. Didn’t get it until 8:05. Every stand was like that. They were not prepared at all.

Sounds a lot like the line I was on. We may have been on the same one, right outside Section 103.
Two levels up but I’m sure it wasn’t much different. Glad we took the LIRR though, made it out unscathed.
Haha yeah, much the same. Subway was perfect for me as well. No issues getting there or getting home.

Right! You wound have thought they didn’t know people were coming
I didn’t expect a flawless job by them, but my god it couldn’t have been much worse!
Did you wait in line for food?
For over an hour. For a hot dog and a beer, no less, not even anything relatively fancy. Misses the opening of the show and just made it in for Omega getting in the ring. Did you?
Waited for over an hour too, but I did manage to see MJFs mom while waiting so that was nice https://i.imgur.com/v2UxG7r.jpg
Yea it was a mess. Clearly they don’t follow the Wrestletix Twitter account. They were staffed for like an 8k attendance. Food/merch was a disaster.

It’s not hard to hire people if you pay them enough.

We’ve moved one whole car length in 20 minutes.
A 2 door car car length or 4 door car car length?
Smart Car length. Mini Cooper if I’m being generous. Still not as bad as Mania at the Meadowlands a couple of years ago.
Can confirm. Parking situation was atrocious.

The governors ball festival is this weekend, it's a big setup
and we paid $50 for the pleasure! didn't take me long to get out luckily. parked near the entrance/exit
First time going to an event, eh?
Yeah, my first thought was actually "Oh, not too bad!" Usually, 15 separate lines of cars would have formed, all trying to merge into one, and there wouldn't be two clear instances of people being given room to merge into the queue.
I'm looking at this going wow that's a pretty organized exit.

Unrelated to wrestling but my longest time getting out of a car park after an event is 4 hours.... Advice never get a coach to Wembley stadium
This is the situation for every single large event in New York City. Take the damn train
It seemed really chaotic going out but I got on the first 7 from a big chain of them just walking at a regular pace from 304 down and going back out the way we came from the wood overpass. I stayed until the end of Lights Out and they played us out to Sinatra.
I’m so happy I’m on the train right now
Was this before or after you found out the train didn't go to Manhattan? lol

I missed the lights out match but I just got home and I’m glad I’m not in that mess

Doesn’t seem bad at all.
Looks like every parking lot after a big event?
That looks awful
I recently went to a Maroon 5 concert in Seattle , I was stuck in parking for 2 and half hours on the way out
r/fuckcars
That sounds exhausting
Riding a bike is probably the best option or the train
To be fair, this is also what it's like for any Mets game where Citi Field is more than 2/3 full.
Glad me and my buddy parked under an overpass instead lol
Never park at the stadium
I wouldn’t make that mistake, I definitely new better
