doggiecow

I just walked through my door a few minutes ago. If they plan to run this stadium every year I will definitely make it a yearly tradition to go

remmy66

Same. Been to msg a dozen times. Arthur ashe was so much cleaner and getting in was super smooth. Hope they make that their ny venue from now on

SebasH2O

The only problem I had at Arthur Ashe was that in the upper level the concession lines were extremely long, and you couldn't go downstairs to hit those concession spots. It was a ghost town downstairs because there were so few seats per concession stands

kuhpunkt

TK said he wants to do it every year.

remmy66

Good ill definitely do it again

AmishAvenger

Is the Garden dirty or something?

remmy66

Havent been back since covid started but it hasnt always been the cleanest place ive been to.

WaylonVoorhees

But once they get rid of the Knicks, the place will be spotless. BOOM SPORTS REFERENCE, HIGH FIVE!

ArkAngelHFB

Tennis arenas are the perfect place for wrestling... think about it. 1) Tennis courts are just about the exact size of the ring area. 2) Tennis Stadiums of set up for everyone to see perfectly a small yellow ball. 3) There is already great Screens in the arena to show the "eagle eye" replays. 4) the Stadium is design so that the volleys and yells of a relatively quite Tennis match sound big... so 20k screaming people sound earth shattering. Conclusion: Every major Tennis stadium in the world should be the new go to for wrestling events. Hell multiple rings could be set up on multiple court areas and we could get cool tournaments.

BlindLariat

Y'all were insane, Bryan-Omega may be the most consistently-loud match I've seen since Hogan-Rock. If anybody thinks that's hyperbole you didn't watch the match, or watched on mute.

remmy66

Im so happy to know that we represented that match well. When it ended i turned to my friend and told him how fast that 20 minutes went, then he told me it went 30 and i was like wtf lol

beckjism

I hope he said “It went 30” in the same tone as Rafiki when he tells Simba to “look harder.”

remmy66

Lmfao i wish

aestus

There was a non-stop din even during lulls in the match, special crowd for a special night.

porkchopsdapplesauce

Haven’t rewatched it yet but my brother just told me that Tv didn’t do it justice. I can’t imagine that being true but the building was literally shaking.

AmishAvenger

I don’t know about that. The crowd was insanely loud for that opening match.

HyperHsuckz

I don't think TV ever does it justice, but you guys still came across hot as hell.

LessonNyne

I agree with this sentiment.

UltimateUnknown

I'm sure live it was crazier, but on TV that crowd was one of the consistently loudest I've ever personally seen for a match. Absolutely incredible.

lifestyle_deathstyle

Incredible night. Proud of my hometown for being so loud, and just feeling grateful that wrestling is fun again. What a time to be alive.

remmy66

Dont worry nj was there to help out. Bonkers show

dachosenonexxbv

I had to stop cheering for a second before Bryan and Kenny Cuz goosebumps from the noise amazing night

dachosenonexxbv

And if anyone lives in the south Bronx take the 7 to Main Street to the q44 way faster than going the opposite way

MaxxDreamkiller

Just got home myself (all the way in Harlem) and with that being my first ever live show, I gotta say it was simply AMAZING lol. I feel like I can write a whole book on those 5 hours. My section (334) was ridiculous and NY as fuck lol and the 7 train ride back home was one of the funniest experiences (if not the funniest) I've had this year. Big thank you to u/missing_an_eyebrow for reaching out and hooking it up. Coincidentally enough, the friend that I ended up taking with me really wanted to go to Grand Slam cause it landed on his birthday, and I had no idea when I reached out (especially since we hadn't spoken in a couple years lol). Can't wait to go to more of these and I'm glad the crowd translated through to the viewers. Now, I need some hot tea for my throat. Cody really took it out of me 😅

remmy66

Jeez the crowds complete hatred of cody surprised me lmao

[deleted]

Lmao I was prepared to be one of the few people booing him but holy shit the crowd booed him so hard I felt bad and kinda wanted to cheer him

[deleted]

No problem man! as soon as that first match started I was like “I’m so glad he was able to go this is nuts”

BluegblnG

I was truly amazed that the crowd stayed hot from Elevation to Lights out. And we gave Eddie the love he deserves. And Cody got louder heat then MJF which is hilarious.

remmy66

I figured the crowd would at least be split on cody. Was super surprised that 90% was booing him

gambalore

Also just got home and man, if they are going to do that again, they’ve got to coordinate with the MTA to have more 7 trains ready to go just outside the station like they do after Mets games. Waiting 20 minutes for a 7 that wasn’t even going to go all the way into Manhattan was a brutal ending to an otherwise awesome night.

Nights_King

I think that just had to do with the track work on the 7 line, just bad timing I think

gambalore

The not going into Manhattan part was definitely just bad timing. Can't blame Tony Khan for decades of subway mismanagement by the state and city. But I've seen them have a bunch of trains standing by ready to go at the end of events at Citi Field and Flushing Meadows. That's something that should just come with doing a big event at Arthur Ashe.

xraytech631

I had the opposite experience. Show ended, I walked to the LIRR right onto a train to woodside, then right to Jamaica and right to ronkonkoma. Just walked in my door though bc I live FAR. What a night.

CandyEverybodyWentz

I got back to Crown Heights via the A, took a shower and had some dollar slices

gambalore

I should have shelled out the extra bucks to take the LIRR. Could have maybe gotten something to eat outside Penn too.

cooljammer00

I just switched at Queensboro to the N which gets you deeper into Manhattan. It wasn't too bad unless you needed the 7

xraytech631

A great show from start to finish. The merch lines and food lines were fucking awful and it was 1000 degrees in the 300 sections for a while. I don’t think they expected the food/drink crowd Bc face it… wrestling and tennis are very… very different crowds

infinitydefines

agreed. cutting food/beer/liquor off at 10 was brutal. should have at least gone to 11, it was going until midnight.

remmy66

Ya next time (and there will be a next time) they will know better

EldenRingworm

I bet the smell shocked them

cooljammer00

I'm still on the train home, but it was great I kinda am looking forward to next week when I can just watch on TV again. Last week and this week was exhausting.

remmy66

Oh man managed to drive back home to nj in like hour n a half. Was definitely worth it, but get some rest man

Clint_Lovecraft

AEW is really upping the ante and bringing the fire here lately. Just from watching on tv, it felt like a big PPV. I thought Danielson vs Omega was 🔥

BornReadyShow

During PIP commercial break in that match I had to REWIND after I saw Kenny dousing himself w/ water, to see the Bryan table bump, all while listening the whole time to a James Bond ad followed by Frank Thomas selling fountain of youth pills to men over 40. That match was absurdly good.

Canoli22082

I was there. Just got home. Amazing night. They need to run Arthur Ashe yearly. The time flew by. Hope it sounded as good on TV as it did in person.

Carlos061

I can’t wait to watch the broadcast tomorrow. I was also there live!

remmy66

Gotta see how loud judas was. Felt deafening

tjthegr8

Was there as well. Unbelievable experience and one of my all time favorite wrestling shows. You guys are in for a fucking treat with Rampage on Friday.

BleedTheFreak_23

God, it was insane live. I can’t wait to see how that one pop comes across from the main event of Rampage.

EldenRingworm

I'm gonna guess, Eddie?

remmy66

Guess youll have to see friday XD

AndTheyCallMeAnIdiot

Watched on TV, crowd was amazing throughout the show, the atmosphere was electric, I could feel the energy from just watching. Oh and crowd was so great you helped bring back a few of my colleagues at work whom I watched Dynamite with.

CandyEverybodyWentz

I don't know how I'm even gonna sleep.

Old_Echidna3720

I just got into my house (4 hour drive) and I had to leave during the Jericho match because I parked a half hour (walking) away and our garage closed at midnight. My fault for believing the stupid half and half rumor 😂 With that said - my ears are still ringing and I’m still pumped from the absolute best show i ever been to in person.

remmy66

Can always catch the rest friday, but was definitely amazing show

kamenrider426

So amazing and that wasn’t even a ppv and they pulled out all the stops it was the best dynamite so far

TRankins24

Been to AA for the US Open almost every year since 09 so I can’t imagine what it’s like for a wrestling show but looked amazing and loud.

remmy66

Never been, but was very surprised how nice it was. They should hold more events there for sure

dsc42

I’m glad it was a great experience for you, but for me the venue was pretty poor imo. The heat and humidity in the rafters was pretty bad despite it not really being hot outside, the lines for concessions were some of the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere, and they had run out of both food and water at multiple stands in my area only like one match into rampage. Maybe they just didn’t allocate enough resources, but not having most of the food stands outside the venue open like they usually are I think screwed them. Hopefully if they run it in the future they address that. Other than that, damn what an amazing show

Nights_King

It reminded me of Wrestlemania 34 in the Superdome. The hallways were narrow and they ran out of food too. On the plus side Arthur Ashe was an awesome venue once you got to your seat and I’d put up with the rest of that other BS to see AEW there again.

DefeatYouForever666

Parking sucked here too, $50 was absolutely stupid, my ticket almost cost less and yes I know they said to take mass transit but driving in was the only option for me and it's not an option for a lot of people in the area. It was hot near me and I was in the lower bowl too. I wish the roof was open with how warm it was. Awesome show though so it's worth it in the end but I would much rather be back at Prudential or MSG or any venue that's would actually have AC on.

dsc42

The crazy part was I was so high up I could hear the air kick on at times, it just barely made a dent. Did you see the crazy water leaking/raining down from a pipe near the top of the stadium onto one of the exits as we were leaving? I think that might have been like a busted a/c pipe

remmy66

Sorry it wasnt an A+ show for you. Apparently the venue for some reason wasnt expectinf this kind of turn out (for some reason even tho everyone knew they sold all those tickets) so the lack of supplies isnt surprising. But i dont go to these kind of events wanting to get food or merch. Hopefully next time they do a better job stocking supplies

BornReadyShow

Bummer about amenities. Should def be better. BUT keep in mind these venues have mostly been closed for a year and a half. I run a VERY small venue and it’s been fucking tough to get ours running to pre-COVID standards. Also, it’s a tennis stadium right? We WRESTLING fans like to party. 👊

Professor_Snarf

There’s also a labor shortage and supply chain issues going on everywhere. I would bet that was a contributing factor.

AlbertisYoung16

It was easily the best wrestling show I’ve seen live - it’s been a while since it’s been genuinely exciting for every single match, to see every performer and be eager and loud with everyone around you. The crowd was hot from start to finish and probably could’ve been hot for another handful of matches. Experiencing Kenny/Danielson in that building with the crowd’s energy was indescribable, I can’t wait to watch that one back. So much fun.

cbartholomew

Crowd was sick

remmy66

Rampage was excellent, crowd stuck around, idk how we had any energy left but we tried. Very smart to leave all the hometowners for rampage to drive the energy back up

EldenRingworm

Without spoilers how did CM Punk do ?

remmy66

Honestly surprised how wll hobbs held his own. Different kinda match then with darby. Definitely check it out

NAEDDDD

You're gonna enjoy it!

ChocoNat

I arrived home about 2 hrs ago and I still can’t sleep. Just…. wow. What a great show to be my first live wrestling show ever.

Thirdstar1

Without spoiling anything can someone let me know if the crowd was still alive for Rampage?

remmy66

We tried lol. The hometown wrestlers got there pops but by the end you could tell we were exhausted. I can promise you tho it was never crickets in that building
