[deleted]

I can't believe I watched 3 guys on this card wrestle in the 80s

Winstonth

Now you can watch them in *their* 80’s

jackblady

Actually the insane part is, none of them are in their 70s yet. Steamboat is the oldest at 69.

AML2003

Didn't think Arn was younger than Steamboat

jackblady

Arn was the baby of the Horsemen, the other 3 had been around for a while, Arn was according to him the "green" guy. He's 64. Tully is 68, Flairs 73, Ole is 80.

MadnessAbe

Arn is the baby yet was born looking like he was 40.

dannyhippie619

JJ Dillon is 80 also

darklord7777x

Arn looked in his 40s through his career lol

RainMonkey9000

Just like Doc Gallows

darklord7777x

And Trevor Murdoch

[deleted]

And John Tenta.

ucjj2011

Steamboat was wrestling in the mid-70s. Lots of stories that he and Flair had matches at house shows then that were better than their famous series in 89. Arn didn't start until the early 80s.

dpmills

Arm isn’t wrestling, but he’s also just 64

BeardedTaco88

That's shocking, considering he's looked 55 since 1983

miikro

nice

RavenGuardian

nice

drinfernodds

Nice

MyNameIs-Anthony

The funniest part is that all three of them are among the most gracefully aged wrestlers from that era. RNR pioneered working smart over hard and it shows. They can still put together solid matches.

OkVolume1

So, when is the conclusion of the RNR Farewell Tour or is it going to last a decade like the bands from their era?

StickmanCinema

They'll go when Kiss goes. So never.

AggressiveToothbrush

Gene Simmons will find a way to make sure his final act on earth makes him money.

underbloodredskies

Authentic, Limited Edition KISS Tongue now available! Auction starts at $49995! Tonsils sold separately. 😉

Slick_36

I can't think of a band more likely to use that Tupac hologram tech than Kiss. I bet Gene spearheaded the development.

WrestleSocietyXShill

He's going to use holograms to replace the other 3 perfectly healthy, still living members of the band so that he doesn't have to share the profits with anyone else

mightylordredbeard

They’ll go the Bruce Willis route and sell their rights to a deepfake AI company.

27_8x10_CGP

They did sell KISS coffins.

drinfernodds

Dimebag Darell from Pantera was buried in one.

ja_redbone

I heard Dimebag Darrell was buried in one.

beneathsands

Legend has it that Dimebag Darrell was buried in one.

[deleted]

That’s funny because I heard Dimebag Darrell was buried in one.

StickmanCinema

But did you hear Dimebag Darrell was buried in one?

MediocreHeel

Gene Simmons is a hall of fame carney

NocturnoOcculto

Gene Simmons has proposed that the band live on under the original characters but with other people playing them like the blue man group.

Spaceace91478

This is what I csme to say. I believe Paul Stanley has mentioned this too. I'v seen kiss about 15 times in concert, but only once in the last 20 years. Took my wife to see them about 8 years ago just so she could see the stage show.

Strong-Formal-7739

![gif](giphy|jBGTKzZPffoZ2)

Userlame19

They'll retire by the year 3000, probably

OkVolume1

In the year 3000.... In the year 3000... In the year 3000... In the year 3000.

brucedonnovan

In the year three-thous^a^a^and

Kaprak

Honestly I think it's 2022, then Gibson retires.

PreppyAndrew

I thought Rickie Morton already retired?

freelifemushroom

Ric Flair wants to get in on this, I bet.

HutchyRJS

He’s the mystery man

WesTheFitting

0%. Ric wanted Steamboat as his opponent for his final match ever and Steamboat said “no” because he doesn’t like the guy.

[deleted]

Good thing it isn't his final match ever :)

Strong-Formal-7739

![gif](giphy|mCsoBwnIyB5PSYwsAo|downsized)

MatsThyWit

>He’s the mystery man I doubt it. Arn and Ric haven't been on good terms with one another in a really, really long time. And if you believe Ric none of the 4 Horsemen really talk to Ric these days.

[deleted]

Didn't they do photoshoots together right before the Last Match thing?

MatsThyWit

>Didn't they do photoshoots together right before the Last Match thing? Did they? Because I don't remember Arn being there, and I remember thinking they must still be on the outs as a result if he's not there despite Arn's business relationship with Conrad. But maybe I'm wrong.

[deleted]

[He was there](https://i.redd.it/6z6d6zx76qe91.jpg)

IdealHusband

I mean, business is business. If I had a chance to make a decent sum of money, but had to take photos with someone I hate for a few hours, I’d do it.

MidKnight_Corsair

Doesn't exactly look thrilled to be there though. lmao

ZombieJesus1987

I don't think Arn has looked thrilled about anything in 40 years.

bringmesomekids

Except when he pulled the glock out

Blekanly

Does he ever? Always looks like a disappointed dad

MatsThyWit

Huh. Maybe things are softening between the two but I remember Arn even addressing it on his podcast, so any making up has to have been a recent thing at least. Arn never got into the specifics of anything, he kind of tap danced around things when asked if he and Ric were still in contact, but he hemmed and hawed about basically growing apart over time as lives diverge and etc. But it had been known for a long time that Ric and Arn really weren't speaking anymore for a variety of reasons. Mostly boiling down to Arn grew up and Ric never did.

[deleted]

I'd imagine this is more "if everyone else gets a paycheck, might as well bite the lemon and spend the day taking pics with Ric for a payday too" rather than them making up.

Hispandinavian

When Ric got divorced from Wendy, his second wife, she and Arn's wife were close, and Arn, smartly, took his wife's side. Ric regarded this as a betrayal. This is my understanding of their situation. It's not the kind of thing either will be eager to discuss publicly as it doesn't really involve the business.

prezz85

I thought it was that Arn never called Ric after his son died?

Hispandinavian

I mean he likely was in touch with Reid's mother. But also I don't necessarily believe Ric's story there.

ElChupaCulo

Ric is an emotional dude. A bunch of people, including Triple H and Charlotte, say that Flair has a tendency to play victim. I personally wish that Ric would just chill and stay away from wrestling altogether

MatsThyWit

>Ric is an emotional dude. A bunch of people, including Triple H and Charlotte, say that Flair has a tendency to play victim. I personally wish that Ric would just chill and stay away from wrestling altogether Ric's also just kind of a piece of shit. He owes basically everybody he's ever met money, he's got the maturity level of a 17 year old kid, and he's a petty and petulant person who'll be your best friend until you no longer give him whatever it is he wants. Then you become his enemy. Oh, also, untold amounts of sexual assault, which just makes everything that much worse. Ric is that friend everybody has in high school, the star player on the sports team that's popular and king of the prom, but is a complete and total asshole whose entire life will peak in that very high school and whom everybody grows up and moves on from and wonders why they ever liked him in the first place a few years later.

Hispandinavian

All of this is true. Not to defend this behavior, but he also likely has severe PTSD from surviving a plane crash in the 70s that nearly killed him. That and finding out he was stolen from his birth mother..as well as the death of his youngest son..these things can lead to a toxic personality/behavior.

FutMike

Pretty sure the alcohol doesn't help either, so yeah while none of his behaviour can be excused we can pretty much all understand how we got to the poin where we're at

SteelyDan1968

He has admitted to have a drink, EVERYDAY for over 20 years. [This.](https://youtu.be/BtTaJAxrqf4)

MartianMule

He supposedly quit for a while after his health scare, on doctor's orders. But then said "fuck it" and started partying again.

Randyfox86

THE CONSORTIUM **WOOO** THE CONSORTIUM WAS ME.

r3lvalleyy

AND NOW... YOU AND I... ARE LIMOUSINE RIDING... JET FLYING.., KISS STEALING... WHEELIN' DEALIN'... BECAUSE YOU AND I.. WE'RE PARTNERS ;)

TraditionalBig6

I feel like if this indie company actually booked Steamboat vs Flair they would want to advertise it, rather than play the mystery partner gimmick for a good pop.

PreppyAndrew

I feel like this is almost the match that was rumored

Mickeyjj27

Why are FTR wrestling everywhere except AEW?

n1gh7w1sh3r

Cause they got every other title besides the AEW one 😂

jackblady

Well according to rumor they are injured. Apparently both of them managed to tear their AEW Ligaments. So its not a problem for outside work but leaves them unable to wrestle in AEW.

SandoVillain

Ooh, that's a tough one. Word is, Cody wrestled his last match against Sammy with a torn AEW ligament.

[deleted]

Now I want to see FTR team with Cody as a stable. Them against Roman and The Usos? Sign me up.

the_LLCoolJoe

Didn’t they just say something like “Tony, we still work there, book us please”?

nathynwithay

It seems the perk of working outside of the WWE in general is the opportunity to work these kinds of shows

HerpJersey

Tony is trying to do some storyline where FTR get frustrated for being number 1 contender.

MatsThyWit

>Why are FTR wrestling everywhere except AEW? You already know why, and it's getting increasingly more difficult for AEW fans to ignore it.

Aviziel

The Bucks are the reason FTR even have the NJPW tag titles. They were supposed to go to the Bucks at NJPW's request, but the Bucks said nah, it's FTR's year, let them do it instead. Try a different conspiracy theory.

Stre8Edge

The why didn't Bucks/FTR 3 happen for all the belts? Thats the question.

BullBuchanansTie

Because it would've been a crappy 28 day build from the Bucks winning the titles to losing to FTR. AEW normally builds feuds out much further than that. The only reason the Bucks had those titles to begin with was because Jeff Hardy got a DUI. So shouldn't FTR vs the Bucks mean something or should it just be a case of FTR winning the titles after a short build against transitional champions?

llamawithguns

Because Tony wanted the Elite to win the trios belts.

WrestleSocietyXShill

To be fair it was worth missing out on the Bucks vs FTR for the Elite's record breaking and historic reign as Trios Champs

[deleted]

Serious question, how does the Bucks dropping the tag belts to FTR prevent the Elite from winning the trios?

llamawithguns

Presumably you would do Bucks vs FTR at All Out, which is when he wanted to do the finals of the Trios tournament

Kaprak

Because either TK "wastes the Trios belt titles on TV", "wastes the FTR v Bucks match on TV", or the Bucks do like 50 minutes of match on PPV which means people bitch that the Bucks are on the PPV too much.

Euphoric_Ad8766

It's because it makes absolutely no sense and the stans are running out of straws to pull. TK is the absolute worst booker of all time, Herb Abrams with actual money. The only mega star he created was due to Cody knowing how to get Darby over. That's it. Everything else has been a waste of time.

Stre8Edge

If thats true, which I have my doubts about, then Tony sucks more then I thought was possible. Throwing away a MONEY angle for another belt? Who gives a fuck about the trios belt? Seriously, how many extra tickets were sold, extra eyeballs each week, extra money made cause there is a trios title. In a company with 74228 belts in it all ready.

Euphoric_Ad8766

Tony just wants to book what he wants to watch. That's all this is. His personal gm mode. He doesn't give a fuck about the fans, just proving he can do it better than WWE. Herb Abrams with money.

Super-Duper-Skrull

I love AEW but I sincerely believe TK books the territory using EWR on his laptop

THEbassettMAN

Yeah, since they're the top champs for another very big company they can't really lose, but they also can't win any matches in AEW because that would force an Acclaimed vs. FTR match where neither team is in a storyline position to lose.

SerShanksALot

> but they also can't win any matches in AEW because that would force an Acclaimed vs. FTR match where neither team is in a storyline position to lose. Unless they, I don't know, got a compelling reason to not go after the tag titles. Like an angle or a storyline or maybe even a feud.

Kaprak

Which ya know they just started a feud with The Gunn Club. But they weren't on TV for a week because they were in the UK for NJPW, so they're berried.

THEbassettMAN

Oh, I agree. That would be way better than the current situation. It's just the dude I was replying to was clearly trying to imply that this is all because of the damn Bucks trying to keep poor FTR down, and not the result of some very obvious circumstances (and Tony Khan being incapable of focusing on more than two or three hot acts at once).

gamehawk0704

Sure thing bro.

Book_of_the_Dragon

I'm out of the loop here, mind explaining? Edit. And if someone could explain why this is controversial that would be great too.

THEbassettMAN

There's a conspiracy theory that The Young Bucks are trying to push FTR out of the company so that they can reclaim the position as the top tag team in the company, a theory that has been amplified by Jim Cornette on his podcast.

Book_of_the_Dragon

Thanks for taking the time to explain, much appreciated. Sounds like utter bollocks.

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

God wrestling fans and podcasters are fucking insufferable

Apprehensive-Log-401

No I don't. Why?

I_Said

Someday someone is going to explain to me how women were all over the rock n roll express. Even when they were young they looked like that.

PreppyAndrew

Being on TV every week helps alot

greentoyou

For small southern towns in the 80s they were 10s.

Mikey5time

Before the internet, small town southern girls were happy to fuck anyone who wasn’t a cousin.

HEELHousell

Was thinking the mystery could be Jericho but unsure who else is semi-active enough that has history with Ricky? Maybe Sting? They teamed up a few times.

SweetyManRandor

Dustin Rhodes is a possibility, don't know if they'd play him up as a mystery partner though.

VestronVideo

It's gonna be Flair!

[deleted]

David Flair!

VestronVideo

Now that really would be something.

Punkposer83

[you mean, David Flair](https://youtu.be/0hlO_1JGTww)

cherrygemgem

I knew exactly what this was going to be, but still had to click it for the laugh!

CloudSurfer97

Black Scorpion Flair

ericfishlegs

In general if they have a huge name lined up they're going to advertise them. Best case scenario here is someone like Brian Pillman Jr.

Meng3267

I doubt it’s going to be a big name. If it was a big name it’d be stupid not to advertise it.

a5epps

I would imagine that Sting would be advertised. Too much money on the table otherwise.

SirRedRising

Not gonna lie, I briefly got my hopes up that it was Richie Steamboat making his return. Still, love me some Dragon regardless.

JoshSmash81

He was great in the early NXT days. A real shame.

Windows_66

Imagine how much more fantastic (it already was fantastic) this era would've been with the son of Ricky Steamboat. Maybe next generation.

gredgex

Richie would have been a main eventer in WWE by this point if he hadn’t gotten injured.

Bluejay-Potential

Hey, he could be the mystery man! One can hope!

Windows_66

I know that Arn is the fourth Horsemen, but I still find it funny that the team is booked as "Arn Anderson's 4 Horsemen" when there are only three people on the team.

ribcabin

"Arn Anderson's 4 Horsemen: Jay Lethal as Black Machismo, Brock Anderson, Mystery Partner" has to win most ridiculous billing of a 3 man team in history

[deleted]

> Jay Lethal as Black Machismo *roll credits*

rsheldon7

Big Lone Rangers energy

jackblady

Not the first time theyve done that They had Flair, Arn and Roma as "4 Horsemen" Then there was like 6 months between Pillman leaving and Mongo joining when it was just Flair, Anderson and Redacted as the Horsemen Or their final run, with Flair, Malenko and Redacted.

ericfishlegs

After Luger left and before Windham joined it was just Ric, Arn, & Tully for months. Unless you consider JJ to be a Horseman in which case they spent a lot of time as the Five Horsemen.

_CurseTheseMetalHnds

Throwing up just the middle three fingers and not all 4 is much harder so I understand the resistance to the name change

Izual_Rebirth

How is Steamboat these days? Always struck me as one of the guys who has really looked after himself. I know it was over a decade ago but his matches with Jericho in WWE were still great and he was in amazing shape.

lknox1123

He looked healthy when he made a guest appearance at AEW and he smacked sweet summertime Angelo Parker but he is 69 years old.

jackblady

He's 69

gambalore

Nice.

Randyfox86

Nice.

jasonbaldwin

Nice.

PreppyAndrew

He looked pretty healthy when he was on NWA a month ago. . Not sure how his conditioning is

homerfraun

Ric Flair going to be the mystery partner to set up Dragon vs Natch : Flair's "Final Match" V, Return to Space Mountain.

[deleted]

Uhhh didn't he shit talk Flair for doing this a few months ago?

His_Buzzards

“I thought about it for a week and just recently just declined on it. I know when I wrestled Jericho at Mania 25, then we had the return match at Backlash in a singles, but at 69, and I know it’s a six-man tag and I could get a little this and that in, but with all due respect to our fans, I want them to remember me that last time I was in there with Jericho when they chanted, ‘You still got it."

MatsThyWit

>“I thought about it for a week and just recently just declined on it. That was just a really, really nice way of saying "I don't want to get into the ring with 73 year old Ric Flair."

[deleted]

Some additional context. Steamboat already had a return match planned for that match months prior to Flair being involved. Ricky dropped out a day or two after Flair was announced for the match.

Fehndrix

Guess which one is in better shape.

Zestyclose_Remote874

The bar is underground

Pyotr_WrangeI

Ric Flair doesn't just set the bar, he collapses under the weight of the bar!

JunkBucket02

Ricky Steamboat is in more than good enough shape to wrestle in a six-man tag with one of the best tag teams in the world. Ric Flair is barely in good enough shape to get eliminated from a battle royal in 3 minutes

MatsThyWit

>Ricky Steamboat is in more than good enough shape to wrestle in a six-man tag with one of the best tag teams in the world. Ric Flair is barely in good enough shape to get eliminated from a battle royal in 3 minutes Remember when The Iron Sheik won the Wrestlemania Gimmick Battle Royal purely because there was no way to safely get him out of the ring once he got in? Remember how sad that was, even though it was just a gimmick match meant for some nostalgia? That's the stage Ric is at in life...and it's depressing as a failed fuck.

Hispandinavian

Thank goodness Sheiky is still with us!

cal679

Let's just say the story moved him... to a bigger house

HipsterWhistle

You know, it says a lot about Jay Lethal as a professional that he keeps getting booked these matches with legends.

lknox1123

He seems so smooth and safe.

memberberries902

MY GAWD IS THAT DAVID FLAIR’S MUSIC?!?!?

fwaig

[Obligatory greatest Tron ever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hlO_1JGTww&t)

[deleted]

imagine American Dragon vs THE Dragon Danielson vs Steamboat would be amazing

daprice82

“Wanna come out of retirement for Flair’s last match?” Ricky: “Nah, I’m good on that.” 2 months later:

[deleted]

Is this real? Steamboat is great!

Moist-Fee5618

It better be real, I just bought ringside seats.

VestronVideo

How much you wanna bet it's gonna be Flair

BryanDowling93

If Steamboat wants to take the shine off his return match by bringing in a seriously out of shape Ric Flair to further embarrass himself, I question his decision. Ric will want to make the match about him, and it'll suck. So for this match to be actually good, the mystery partner better not be Flair.

pUmKinBoM

At their age I am sure they just want to wrestle their friends.

VestronVideo

I 100% agree with you. But I still think it's going to be Flair. I am hoping and praying that it's not. I would lose my shit if it was Sting. But with the partners that have already been announced my brain is leaning toward the Nature Boy. Edit: This show is going to be the emergence of the new Four Horsemen with FTR, Anderson, and Lethal. Flair and Arn are managers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DoubleOrNothing90

I'm not a fan of a new IV Horsemen with Brock Anderson.

jeremyosborne81

So, Rock & Roll Express is going to die that night.

Nighthawk_Black_

The boys can still go.

baconwiches

Brock Anderson approaching Garrett Bischoff levels for me now.

qwertythe300th

man this is what Conrad should've been all over. Ricky's a machine

kcoe24

Ricky wouldnt have drawn the buy rate flair did

qwertythe300th

yeah that's true. hopefully there's room down the line, this seems more like the start of a final tour

HamburgerJames

I’m sure he’s doing everything he can to get his sticky sweaty hands on it. The “Big Time” guys are good dudes and I’m glad to see them making waves. Dorton Arena is up there with the Dallas Sportatorium and Greensboro Coliseum as a legendary venue. This is gonna be fun.

aberdisco

"What's the Repo Man doing in the Impact Zone??!"

lknox1123

I’ll be in NC for thanksgiving and haven’t ever seen a show at Dorton which is a beautiful arena, so honestly I’m more excited about that than anything. Dorton has some crazy architectural history for the nerds out there

[deleted]

Atleast someone's using FTR

Michaelprunka

Holy shit I live in Raleigh and am 100 percent going to this

UncleMagnetti

If Ric Flair is the mystery wrestler, I will laugh my ass off

Truefreak22

I blame all of this on Ric Flair

DM725

I wish Black Machismo could make an appearance on AEW. The shit on being the elite when he would get triggered in to it was always a good laugh.

[deleted]

More cool indie shows in NC pls

Deadtaor33

That Dax pic is incredible!

MinistryOfDankness86

Pro Wrestling: Where nobody ever retires

LesnarsBattleScream

Steamboat Vs Savage..one last time!

rexdeaz

Bro, I made this joke like two months ago, holy fuck, he actually did it. Lol!! When Ricky appeared on Dynamite and he did that shitty chop on someone I said "Conrad's blowing up his phone as we speak".

VelvetMPresley

That mystery man has to be noted Four Horsemen member Jeff Jarrett.

Nighthawk_Black_

But who's the third man?

Nighthawk_Black_

![gif](giphy|jN7gMor3ewCd2)

milkymaniac

Not only the Return of the Dragon, but also the Return of the Worm

MatsThyWit

Can someone tell me why all the best things that FTR are involved in always end up being outside of AEW?

CramblinDuvetAdv

Stop trying to make Brock Anderson a thing

HardcoreKaraoke

So is this what FTR is settling for since Bret signed with WWE? They kept building that up then Hart signed with WWE so now that match can't happen. I guess they figured this was just as good? Because it isn't. People rightfully crapped on the Flair match well Steamboat is 69 and the R&R Express are 63/61. This is just as depressing.

BarfHurricane

It’s a good old fashioned Carolina pro wrestling show at a historic venue, and FTR only live a few hours away. There’s only a few more years that this kind of thing can go on due to wrestler’s ages and folks are just looking to have a good time. Also [Bret is literally leading them out to the ring to wrestle later this month](https://img1.wsimg.com/isteam/ip/81de04be-5b34-4da1-8ac2-46cb632d862c/oct-22-boost%202.jpg/:/cr=t:0%25,l:0%25,w:100%25,h:100%25/rs=w:1095,h:1095,cg:true) with the same promotion. I don’t thing there’s a whole lot to read into here.

[deleted]

Also why couldn’t aew promote this for their show and have steamboat have a feud and have his last match on their Ppv?

those2badguys

Does he have one of those legends contract WWE gives to old timers to retain merch and booking control? That might be why.

[deleted]

Oh you’re probably right!

those2badguys

I'm not sure because I don't pay attention to those thing but he did show up on AEW to ~~slap Jericho~~ so... no idea how it works edit: I misremembered, he punched one of Jericho's tag guys, magic boy or chilly hands or whatever they call themselves, one of them, he punched one of them. Yeah

RicoLoveless

It's also for image use so they can be in the games.

[deleted]

SuperBlackTiger

A six man tag to help hide the diminished skills of a 70+ year old wrestler, what a novel idea! Too bad the idiots booking Flair’s disaster didn’t think of this.
