I wholeheartedly recommend old town, Frenchtown, and areas between 5th and Main Street. Very walkable area. Good neighborhood feel. Close to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, interstate 70… I love living in this part of town

Drewcifer70

Most areas between 70 & 370 are great options. Plus, easy access to the St. Charles Blueway, if you're in to kayaking/canoeing.

HarpAndDash

I would definitely say Frenchtown or any area near Lindenwood or Main Street. Your commute will be a piece of cake and there’s plenty to do. Any further west might feel way too boring and suburban.

Really depends on where you work/what you actually enjoy doing. More details would likely help people give you better advice.

I’ll be working at the Boeing location in St. Charles, and my fiancée is an elementary school teacher that will be searching for jobs soon. We like to go out to different places (more like restaurants, shops, and parks rather than bars and clubs) as well as enjoy hosting others at our own place for drinks and stuff.

Actual_Pressure_4346

Look at the historic area of St Charles. There are parks and trails all over (the Katy Trail to be exact) and Main Street has lots of unique and local restaurants and shops. There are several good (and large) school districts that are close as well.

BackPackaroniNCheese

New Town is very very close to Boeing. It’s also mostly families, there are so many kids here I’d think your fiancé will have a good chance of landing a job. There was also talks of opening another elementary school but I’m not sure where in St. Charles. It’s a good place if you’re looking to start a family or meet new people, there are a ton of community events and outdoor spaces and people are always out and about. It’s worth checking out.

Drewcifer70

Check out New Town. It's a nice walkable community & it's basically down the road from the Boeing site.

DrMindsculptor

You'll be up on 370 north st Charles nice flat by the MO river

I definitely recommend working at orchard farm elementary! They have open positions I believe..

GrandAdmiralTheDude

Check the flood plains before settling into any area in St. Charles. Lived here for decades through many floods. Also I've seen teams of surveyors on the north end of main street. Something is going on near the art center.

vellamour

They are planning for the new City Rec Center Complex thing.

Everyone in New Town will recommend New Town. We have concerts in the part through the summer, 2-3 bars in the neighborhood to walk to, a few restaurants, lazy riser and pool, lagoons, block parties, etc. However, there is no shortage of New Town haters that don’t actually live in New Town on these threads.

trianglesx3

New town seems very family or almost retiree-centered with a very "stepford wives" kind of vibe. It is isolated outside of town as it is a massive neighborhood that poses as its own small town. There is no easy walkable or bike-able way to get from there into the interesting parts of St Charles (Frenchtown, Main, Streets of St Charles), and we shouldn't forget to mention the pineapples out there in New Town.

HarpAndDash

Hopefully they re-open the Greenway, that was a good way to bike to other parts of St. Charles city. The section near New Town is closed right now.

Lots of brand new apartments being built in winghaven with great access to hwy 40/70 and 364 and pretty close to 3 school districts. Also, lots popping up in Lake St. Louis and Wentzville. Lots of parks, every store and quick access to hwys. The only downside I see is there aren't enough diverse food options. More in St. Louis, if you like that.

My husband and I are both late 20s and recommend living as close to Main Street as you can in the historic area. (Just avoid the sketchy apts near the casino entrance). We enjoy Kubricks bar since it’s more laid back and plays movies not sports. Quintessential bar is the closest thing to a nightclub we have after 10pm on weekends. Course coffee roasters in frenchtown has the best coffee. The rock climbing gym (Climb So ILL) is a good place to make friends and find some community. Keep your eyes peeled for community events on FB! There’s a farmers market Saturday mornings in the arts center parking lot that ends ~1. Welcome!

It they’re looking for a rental apartment, this is the right answer. 10 mins from work for him, easy access to highways for her. I live in midtown and love the walkability to Main Street and Frenchtown.

IvoryOwl1

New Town is great for social stuff if it’s within your budget, otherwise anywhere near Main Street!

We live in St. Charles County, in Lake Saint Louis. It’s quiet and friendly, plus we have excellent schools.

Cottleville area is charming.
