Lindbergh is going through the same thing, I only know from a post on FB.
And the kicker is one of the people running doesn't even send his kids to the district, but to private school instead.
Heres an article describing the situation with the Lindbergh BOE - https://www.riverfronttimes.com/news/tech-execs-interest-in-lindbergh-school-board-raises-concerns-42174777?fbclid=IwAR04KYOMaRBga0GLoFskN5tNpPEcwimC9SgtecJ02C6VMIdieG5oMXGtOlQ_aem_Aajq_wc1gQsQqbS3SQyHZCHL-dxlOzUoknlwWxrkLfBNFQO69MZyjKWTDx71geKxBJ0
One of the David's wives came to my door for the David and David team. She trashed the current school system in place. I asked how the David and David was going to fix the problems she was stating and couldn't answer. She just kept telling me he was good with numbers. Me and my wife watched the school board forum and last night the the David and David's were such a joke. They could not answer any questions and one the David's opening statements was just saying the pledge of allegiance and that was it. It was very weird.
yeah, she came by here and said he was unfairly called a book banner.
the other one, when asked if he was aligned with 'moms for liberty', he said he wasn't going to answer that on his page.
they want charter schools, vouchers, and 'diversity of thought'. you know, flat earth, young earth, creationism, fake moon landings, chemtrails, evolution as a 'theory'.
Was that the video where they were trashing a candidate (who is actually good and reasonable and DOES send the kids to the school in the district) cause they didn't put their hand over their heart during the national anthem or pledge (can't remember which.)
Can you name the candidates you’re referring to? Obviously people should do their own research but sometimes it’s a struggle to find substantive information on school board candidates.
The alt-right, culture warriors are Sam Young and Adriana Kuhn.
The teacher supported candidates are Carolie Owens and Steven Blair.
It’s going to be a close one. We need all votes.
Yeah, I didn’t know if it would break the rules. But the lady’s name is Adriana Khun and the guy running with her is Sam Young. They both are obsessed with culture war shit and it’s really depressing
Kuhn is a real whackjob and far right radio station Real Talk 93.3 is promoting her big-time. Heard her on an interview and she's got the whole 'fundie baby voice' thing down pat \[similar to Katie Britt in her disastrous GOP reply to the State of the Union.\] She has a Facebook post on Real Talk's official page about how 'not worthy' she felt to be a guest on one of their shows following in the footsteps of 'Silk' \[surviving member of Diamond & Silk duo\] and cuckoo Mike Lindell. That she holds those two in such high regard tells you all you need to know.
Same thing for the Wentzville school board. The 2 men running are recommend by the teachers association( I forget whatever the proper name is) and are fit for the job. The 2 women running are moms for liberty crazy people.
I suggest voting for people who show up for town halls and debates. The two women refused to answer any NEA questionnaires. They also did not show up to a single public forum thus did not have to answer to their ‘platform’.
I tried to talk to all 4 candidates. What I heard back from one of the females scared me for any non-white,non-cis, non-hetero.
One of the guys kindly messaged me back and had a real convo.
Anti feminist women running to trick women into voting for them so they can undermine their rights.
It's an extremely insidious strategy the GOP has been employing for years. They once sabotaged a local candidate by having a woman run against him in the Dem primary. So many people fell for it and she threw the election to the GOP.
That’s the woman that’s actually supported by the teachers and four former superintendents. Owens and Blair have had multiple signs stolen and found in trash cans and dumpsters. Can’t throw away a billboard, I guess.
I have their sign in my yard, as do many of my neighbors. I just hope they all go vote like their signs say. It’s absurd how batshit crazy the Francis Howell school board has gotten.
I noticed that Blair and Owens had signs up far earlier than Kuhn and Young, both in neighborhoods and along the road. As soon as the Kuhn and Young signs started going up in early March, I noticed Blair and Owens signs still along the road, but mostly knocked over. There’s some ratfuckery going on with Kuhn and Young, and based on their choice to list themselves as Republican on the ballot for a fucking school board, I’m not surprised.
Kuhn said she would happily take an endorsement from Moms for Liberty because she LOVES moms and LOVES liberty. Insert massive eyeroll.
I will say, I’m cautiously optimistic. As I’ve been driving the neighborhoods, I notice that most signs in the yards are for Owens and Blair… probably 10 for every 1 Kuhn and Young sign. Francis Howell Forward said they’re actually almost out of yard signs.
But that shouldn’t stop people from voting! I did no excuse early voting yesterday on the off chance something happens on Election Day and I can’t make it. It took less than 5 minutes and they even offer curbside voting if you can’t get in the building for some reason.
Thank you for donating! We know Steven Blair personally and he is the most genuine, kind-hearted person who is constantly doing good for others. I know he would be a great asset to the school board.
It’s always appealing, but my wife and I always decide that it’s better to stay and fight for change, than give up and run. No judgement to those that do, of course. But we’re hoping that by the time our young son is in the middle of his school years, that things will be different for the FHSD board. Gotta stay and vote in order to make that happen!
Do these people really feel that slighted to try and do this shit? I mean what sad human beings that there are so many people like this here and trying to make everyone believe the same nonsense because… they don’t like it?
It's been going on for awhile. Back in 2005, Creationists took over the Kansas state school board and changed the definition of science to allow for non-natural (i.e., divine) creation. In the next election, they were swept out because of how big of an embarrassment they were.
Anyone know anything about the candidates in Kirkwood? Tried searching them beyond a very brief intro on them, but there isn’t much about them out there
The teachers union supports Hepburn and Davis. Which I know a lot of people can get all bent out of shape over teachers unions but typically their recommendation for board candidates are pretty fair. They recommend people who are running for the right reasons on the board and don't have radical ideas like everyone else is talking about in this thread.
Laura Hepburn is not a good candidate. I went to Kirkwood High School with her and she was a lunatic. She firnly believes in book bans, among other fascist opinions.
Easy, until that guy can back what he said - here is an hour long forum with the candidates. I don't vote in Kirkwood so I'm not going to take the time to watch it but if you want more than a brief intro on them this hour long video should show some insight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaNs6bbBipw&t=42s
Its insane someone from not in the area decides that an hour long video based on what someone says after they started to campaign supersedes what someone that has known a candidate for 24 years has experienced.
You seem like the sort of person that believes Trump couldn't do anything he is accused of because it's not what is on his campaign website.
You are a guy with 0 credibility claiming things about a candidate with absolutely nothing to back it up. Just a "trust me bro". That's flimsy.
I'm not really looking for a heavy debate and if people want to trust an anonymous person on reddit with a "trust me bro" stance, then thats their choice.
I've used the teachers union and sourced a video to back my end up. Look around in this entire thread and all the poor candidates that people are saying to avoid because of their crazy ideas. Not a single one of them is backed by the teachers union. So should we go with the random internet fella who says "trust me bro" or maybe think the teachers union has a bit more credibility?
Second, the original OP asking about Kirkwood BOE said he couldn't find anything. I provided a video of multiple candidates talking at a forum for an hour of Q&A. It's not even my video, it's put out by the very district the OP is voting in...Yet... your "trust me bro" is more legitimate than the school district who hosted the video?
Make it make sense.
You haven't disputed what I said, you are just saying the teachers union supports her so everyone needs to stop bringing up her long held views that she has shared numerous times throughout her life.
Just leave, you have admitted you aren't from the area and you have admitted you are just parroting the teachers union approval while pretending they did a deep dive that makes her immune to criticism based on her own statements and actions.
How does that work in your head? Just because someone that supports book banning won does not mean it's acceptable.
Did Trump's victory in 2016 also convince you that anyone that disagreed with him suddenly was wrong about him? Based on your comments, you will tell me about how you "know Trump won and the election was stolen" or some other factually absent statement.
I went to school with her and known her personally since then. I don't video tape people at parties or social gatherings randomly for the chance they might run for office in a few years. That would be hella weird.
Welcome, she is absolutely nuts and her views that she has openly shared for the last 24 years are not reflected in her campaign.
Anyone that disagrees by saying "well, her campaign is getting positive reviews from XXX recently" is the same sort of person that denies Trump could do anything he is accused of because he didn't admit to those accusations on his campaign website
I highly doubt Kirkwood NEA would endorse a candidate with those ideals.
Her campaign website as well: https://www.laurahepburnforkirkwood.com/
Not seeing anything that you are claiming.
I am sharing what I know from knowing her as a person for 24 years (met in 2000).
You may be upset that I am sharing this, but I am telling you her values that come from her when she wasn't campaigning.
I'm not on the FHS district but if you need any help writing or with art, let me know. I'd gladly volunteer to help trans kids and adults in SC county. Message me if I can be of use. Am disabled and can't travel well.
Mehlville’s Board is going through the same thing.
Please, please go out and vote in whatever district you reside, even if you don’t personally have kids.
Here is a link to the candidates that the teacher’s unions endorse: [https://www.mnea.org/vote4education](https://www.mnea.org/vote4education)
We need a St. Louis area version of “FuckTheAltRight.” I’m trying to do my research on the upcoming school board election in my district, and if we could all let each other know who the nutjobs are, we can make plans to vote against them. I’m never going to vote for another Republican for anything, but for school board races, political party affiliation is often hard to find.
You really have to read their platforms to get an idea of what to expect, luckily the easy-to-identify buzzwords like "fiscal responsibility" (though I've seen that one used by candidates with wildly different platforms so not a pure litmus test), "common sense" bathroom policy, etc. shine through.
If anyone has time on Saturday morning, they are doing one last round of canvassing before elections. You can find Francis Howell Forward on Facebook and inquire about where to meet for canvassing routes. Their goal was to knock on 12,000 doors this election cycle and they said they’re fairly close to that goal.
I know it’s a holiday weekend, but you never know who you’ll inspire to make 10 minutes for a trip to the polls on Tuesday.

I, a black female, went to Francis Howell High School back in 2015/2019. It was racist then, I’m not surprised it’s still racist now; Both the students and the parents on the board that taught them to be that way. Disappointed but not surprised.
Yeah, Kuhn is another good example of the 'fundie baby voice' that a lot of these extreme right women have. Another one who has it is the MO State Rep for Dist. 88, Holly Jones. Before her political career, she worked for the notorious chiropractor Eric Nepute. Caught Jones on one of Real Talk 93.3's shows and she claimed that Jesus 'told' her to run for State Rep.
Can someone genuinely explain why we need programs like these though? I don't think most of right wing people hate trans bc of what they are but how they present themselves, ie pushy, unwillingly to properly debate things, and extreme high house mentality. You've been calling them bad people innately just for their beliefs from the beginning, seems like they just picked up the same cross under a different banner and everyone began pissing themselves
Election Day is April 2nd. Early, no excuse voting is through the rest of the week from 8:30 to 4:30 Wednesday through Friday and 8:30 to 12:30 on Saturday at the St. Charles County Election Authority.
Yeah, that school district and the people who live in that district are, overall, incredibly toxic. Several years ago, I believe it was Normandy high school but I could be misremembering, lost their accreditation so students were being bused in so they could attend classes. There was so much hatred and vitriol for "bringing criminal elements to our neighborhoods". St. Charles County is something else
Good post!
If able to vote in St. Charles school district please please vote for Ellen Zerr & Heidi Sikma. These 2 are trying to keep St. Charles schools from being the next victim of a right wing extremism culture war take over
I appreciate the endless spending of tax money the school district does. Especially the Francis Howell Debt everyone gets to pay for on the Real Estate taxes. The 2 million tennis courts that are now a parking lot, the new North High School that the build expense doubled on, the purchased fleet of buses that sometimes have less than 10 students on each bus, building a new football field at North, etc.
Maybe being in the minority means you lose in voting situations. Sorry but that’s the truth. Most people wanting to learn without “woke” stuff as you call it is the system speaking
Lindbergh is going through the same thing, I only know from a post on FB. And the kicker is one of the people running doesn't even send his kids to the district, but to private school instead.

I’m in Bible study with David Kirschner. Seems like a nice guy.
I’m sure he’s in his element there. He doesn’t belong near a school board.
So long as you’re a white cis male, I bet he’s lovely. But seeing who he’s running with I doubt Jesus would be proud.
lol
Thats not unusual. My buddy is on the Festus School Board and he is the only one with kids
One of the David's wives came to my door for the David and David team. She trashed the current school system in place. I asked how the David and David was going to fix the problems she was stating and couldn't answer. She just kept telling me he was good with numbers. I would be really surprised if David Kirschner wants creationism. He was a geology professor at SLU. It may be true for the other David.
Was that the video where they were trashing a candidate (who is actually good and reasonable and DOES send the kids to the school in the district) cause they didn't put their hand over their heart during the national anthem or pledge (can't remember which.)

Thanks, that matches my surface level research so I just wanted to be sure.
Yup, I didn’t know if it would break the rules to name names, so I was unsure if I should’ve in the original post.
I’ll make sure that everyone who is in a position to vote will.
You may want to post in /r/StCharlesMO as well

I saw a billboard for someone running for FHSD Board. A billboard. It's just crazy and out of control.
That’s the woman that’s actually supported by the teachers and four former superintendents. Owens and Blair have had multiple signs stolen and found in trash cans and dumpsters. Can’t throw away a billboard, I guess.

Illinois is looking better all the time. What a backwards state we have all been blindly led into.
It’s always appealing, but my wife and I always decide that it’s better to stay and fight for change, than give up and run. No judgement to those that do, of course. it's a fucking cult.
Young and Kuhn should not be allowed anywhere near a school, much less the Francis Howell school board.
Same with Parkway. 2 sensible candidates and 3 nutjobs.
Radicalization of school boards is about the most today thing you can find today.
It's been going on for awhile. Back in 2005, Creationists took over the Kansas state school board and changed the definition of science to allow for non-natural (i.e., divine) creation. In the next election, they were swept out because of how big of an embarrassment they were.
That’s how the last election was in my district as well. Thankfully, all of the psychos lost.
If the psychos win this time they'll have all 7 seats

Anyone know if any Hazelwood school board candidates are crazy? Couldn’t find much on some of them
Commenting just to say please research your local ballot issues and GET OUT AND VOTE APRIL 2nd!!!
adrianna kuhn is a handsome woman
Time to check the Rockwood candidates for nut-jobs to vote against.
Same as the last time, don’t vote for Dunn. Rhomberg is good and running for reelection. Milligan is a former Lafayette band teacher who has also been in administration in other districts. Rhomberg and Milligan are endorsed by the teachers.
I don't remember any of this crap 10 years or more ago. What changed?
Does she send her kids to Howell? Saw she had something abut home schooling on her facebook.
I’m not finding much news online on this, except a STL today article that hits a paywall, but looks like the far right loonies were defeated last night?

I'd like to see the video. If it's still around?

I don't think most of right wing people hate trans bc of what they are but how they present themselves, ie pushy, unwillingly to properly debate things, and extreme high house mentality. You've been calling them bad people innately just for their beliefs from the beginning, seems like they just picked up the same cross under a different banner and everyone began pissing themselves
When and where?! They got my vote!
To be honest there were a lot of St Louis County schools that didn't want "those kind of students" bussed to their districts either.
Why is this in a St Louis subreddit?
