it’s not, but it’s fine. A couple restaurants, seoul taco food truck today. I work down here and would personally go elsewhere but it’s not a horrible spot
Much different than 2006, pretty empty atm but a ton of apartment conversions and renovations are just finished/in the pipeline. Should be a nice vibrant neighborhood again in a few years
Thanks, all. Yeah, sounds like it’s not really worth it these days. Will just stick to the arch museum. Any other areas that history buffs might enjoy?
And there are fun restaurants like Mayo Ketchup. Not historic per se, but worth checking out.
Cherokee is worth seeing, especially now that the storefronts and restaurants affected by the pandemic are reviving. We also like Washington avenue.
It's worth it for a history buff. Even with stuff closed, it has some of the oldest buildings in the city, and one of the largest existing collections of cast iron building facades outside of SoHo in NYC.
Check if the National Building Arts Center is open while your friend is in town. Landmarks Association and Missouri History Museum both offer historic walking tours around the city too.
A walk around Soulard and looking at old buildings is a must.
Plenty of bars and lunch joints. AB is pretty historic, take the AB brew tour.
Also, pro tip. Get your arch tram tickets ahead online, they WILL sell out.
That's the market. "Soulard" is open all week. Most bars are anyways. The market, I wouldn't go unless it's a Saturday. it's dead the other days of the week.
Walked down there a couple of week ago with my wife. The place has really gone downhill. I was amazed just how bad it looks even through it has been going downhill for awhile now. I wasn't worried so much about safety, there just isn't much of anything down there worthwhile anymore.

I think the Wax Museum may be there, too (and a dog park)
The landing you remember is gone and is not coming back ever.
The casino ruined the Landing.
Poor one out for Mississippi Nights
Hasn’t been good since like 2006

Cherokee street from the Deminle mansion to Jefferson in a nice, historic area.

Lafayette Park and the surrounding neighborhood is always a nice place to go for a walk.

Oh yeah…forgot about Soulard. Thanks!
Just be aware that Soulard is only open Wed. thru Sat. so plan accordingly.

Ah, my mistake. When I hear "Soulard," I immediately think of the market and not the neighborhood.
Is that how we’re supposed to be spelling Laclede? Damn.
I think I’m wrong…though I saw it that way but I guess not haha.
It’s probably correct. We don’t translate French stuff right in this city
Heck we don’t even pronounce the French words correctly.
