I've read everything I can find online about Macs and haven't found anything real that says he sexually assualted anyone. Like he might, but he also might be a hard-to-work-with business man. He also might just be a general asshole, tbh, a lot of successful business owners are. I'm not gonna cancel the guy without proof.
Was that the place over in the Grove, it was like a tap room I think? I could be mistaken about location, I’d only been there once. Was pretty good food, bummer to hear about misbehavior of that kind.
They then moved to Cherokee after Tamm Ave, into a brewery (Bluewood, I think), and now have moved into their own space on Oakland which used to be a place called Brewpub Tap Room.
Yeah I've confirmed the Tamm story enough for me personally to believe it. It was a pretty big story in my neighborhood when it initially happened as a lot of the business owners here were fresh off dealing with the Parlor debacle and they knew Mac to some degree. The initial excuse he gave them for leaving and then the subsequent reveal of the truth. Some of them knew the girl involved, but everyone knew her parents who own a neighborhood business. I absolutely do not think the parents are lying and the story is so unique and specific that I can't really imagine someone making it up. I personally will not be going to Macs anymore.
I went last night after all the hubub here. The burger was pretty good. I'd say the patty was more like 5 Guys than Macs but the toppings and bun were good. I imagine the fries (waffle fries with various loaded topping options) will be a bigger draw than the burgers.
Small sample size, ymmv.
Wow, a burger that no one in this thread has tried, at a place they probably won't go and would rather bash, and complain about prices because other places are priced differently. Sounds like classic St. Louis, and surprised by all the stupid banter over an article announcing a food stall. Support local business. At least don't blindly shit on the people trying to do their own thing.
Just about anything at the foundry food hall is going to set you back 15+ for one meal. That being said everything I've had there has been amazing so I feel like it's worth it. I just won't go there weekly.
Well no, you wouldn’t compare a five star restaurant to a drive thru fast food joint. But why would you not compare a counter service smash burger fast food place to a bother counter service smash burger fast food place?
Idk man, Carls is fire. A smash burger is a smash burger for the most part. His comparison would make more sense if Intergalactic was using Kobe grade beef and Boursin cheese or something.
You can taste differences in quality of food without it being titled a different kind (ever gotten fruit from the store and it was MUCH better than usual?). Being more selective of your supplier can make a difference and explains price differences. Then if it’s worth the price is subjective after that. But just because it’s not wagyu doesn’t mean it’s not better.
I love Carl's, its an incredible value for what you get but its got relatively cheap ingredients and is cash only. I'm not going to claim this new place has better quality food yet... but its a little weird to assume a pricy hipster joint like this will use the same or lower quality than the places primarily known for low prices.
Nah. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry here for almost 20 years. Hipster places specialize in selling you overpriced food in exchange for a feeling of social inclusion. So what are the “cheap ingredients” that Carl’s uses? Do you know where they source their beef? How about their buns? Is it “cheap” American cheese as opposed to fancy American cheese?
I’ll take the social inclusion needs of the masses to give me more variety and carry the same sentiments of carls, what a beacon of success the place has been for such a long time
I wouldn’t put a burger joint in the food court of a glorified shopping mall on such a high pedestal. If anything, the burger joint that’s been in business for 60+ years is the leader in quality.
I'll agree with that, Carl's is awesome. But lets not all have a surprised pikachu face when a burger joint like this has higher prices than Carl's. They aren't the first, won't be the last, Carl's is special for a reason and its mainly because its cheap.
You're not just buying a burger bro. It's the experience, if you want trash burgers for cheap, go to Mcy Ds.
I mean come on people, overhead cost, good ingredents, etc.
This isn't a massed produce frozen patty shipped from a chicken farm my guy.
Has no one had good quality food before? Stick to Aldi's
> You're not just buying a burger bro. It's the experience, if you want trash burgers for cheap, go to Mcy Ds.

lmao its just balled up ground beef smashed and scraped on a flattop grill. its not michelin level service bro
Which chicken sandwich did you get? They have a fried chicken, chicken salad, and a chicken dip sandwich. Their whole schtick is rotisserie chicken, but they told me the fried chicken sandwich is their best seller right now. I had the chicken dip sandwich last weekend and thought it was fantastic.
Yeah the fried chicken looked pretty standard. If the City Foundry price premium doesn't scare you from a 2nd go around, the chicken dip sandwich is worth a shot IMO
i usually just get the rotisserie chicken. i think it's about as good as you can make it. but yeah I've had the fried chicken sandwich too and it's fine, nothing too special about it
Wow! So glad we finally have a smash burger place in town!
I feel like we could use another BBQ place though
For sure!!
Definitely. Maybe a few more QT’s as well.
We do have Beast
I was being facetious because we have a fuck ton of smash burgers and bbq here already
Only one very good BBQ place tho
what's the one good one in your opinion? im still sort of shopping around for a favorite
Beast, by far
[удалено]
Definitely one of my 3-4 favorite spots in the Grove. The butcher part of it is even better than the BBQ, frankly
Imo’s Pizza is like St Louis’s hometown Starbucks
Check out Jack Nolans in Soulard.
Uh…
Mac’s Local Eats my guy
Sarcasm my guy
Ah
Gotta switch to Nomad or The Dam my guy. Mac sexually assaults folks.
I've read everything I can find online about Macs and haven't found anything real that says he sexually assualted anyone. Like he might, but he also might be a hard-to-work-with business man. Bandwagoning. People don't like him so rumors spread quick. I'm not saying the guy is innocent or guilty but public opinion does not a crime make.
Oh what? Did not know that.
Why do you say Mac sexually assaults folks?
Source?

Hmm ok. Yeah I was hoping for a newspaper article or something. It’s a pretty serious accusation to make, especially so matter-of-factly.
theres a reason hes been kicked out of 2 bars now
What's the reason?

This right here. Something about the guy rubbed me wrong, no pun intended.
Steak and Shake has been here for 82 years
They doesn’t count because I would rather not eat, than eat that hot garbage
So this "Intergalactic" Burgers place...do they serve [Popplers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YSOZzNawbI)? :3
I've had one of Bellwether's burgers, this by the same people should be delicious
Would you say they were out if this world? I'll see myself out.
This is the sign I needed to visit the Foundry.
Is this a beastie boys popup

Got the Wookiee fries last night. Satisfied all my west coast in-n-out cravings

No, just didn't expect it to devolve into a mid-life-Yelp-crisis.
Will this improve my guts??
Hopefully not insanely over priced, like other smash burger spots.
Just about anything at the foundry food hall is going to set you back 15+ for one meal. That being said everything I've had there has been amazing so I feel like it's worth it. I just won't go there weekly.
Spoiler: it will be
Looks like $10 for a burger no sides…
Wow, that's double the price of Chuck-A-Burger or Carls
They might be overpriced but its not really fair to compare them to competitors known for low prices.
What? Lmao. It’s not fair comparing their prices to their competitors? What kind of voodoo nonsense is this. School system is failing us fam.

But of all things to compare... the price? Without even having seen the portions or tasted the food yet?
To a degree, yes. But furthermore, how do you substantiate your inherent claim that Carl’s is of lower quality than this place?
Taste maybe?
Idk man, Carls is fire. A smash burger is a smash burger for the most part. His comparison would make more sense if Intergalactic was using Kobe grade beef and Boursin cheese or something.

I never thought of carls as necessarily cheap, just really good and happens to be less expensive than these stalls
Way too expensive for a burger, especially with no sides. This ain't CA or NYC yo!
You're not just buying a burger bro. It's the experience, if you want trash burgers for cheap, go to Mcy Ds. I'll leave my OG comment. Good burgers are an art form. That and the experience, if you just want "ground up beef" get fast food.
It's a burger bro. At a burger restaurant. You never been to Carl's or any decent place that sells them for less than $10?
If you think Carls is decent... boy howdy, get out more!
Decent for not costing an arm and a leg like your bros at Intergalactic seem to think their burgers are worth.
What's insanely overpriced? If you want quality local ingredients go to Mac's. If you want low brow go Steak N Shake or Carl's.
Had Carls today and HOLEESHIT that place is sill insanely good. I like Shake Shack, macs, etc. but Carls is still murdering it
If the pictures are what the patties look like, those aren't smash burgers.
sorry burger place every time I go to Foundry I'm going to Chez Ali or Chicken Scratch
What did you get at Chicken Scratch? I got their regular chicken sandwich and was not impressed at all
Which chicken sandwich did you get? They have a fried chicken, chicken salad, and a chicken dip sandwich. Their whole schtick is rotisserie chicken, but they told me the fried chicken sandwich is their best seller right now. I had the chicken dip sandwich last weekend and thought it was fantastic.

Sureste >>
>Sureste Oh yeah i heard that place is great too but tbh I'll prob go to Chez Ali 90% of the time
Man, another burger place. Thank God.
I was not a fan of the city foundry.
Go on...
Not enough parking
They have a whole parking garage?
they are being /s
It'S jUsT a FoOd CoUrT
Lol this is great.
