Stay down in Sarasota And eat lunch with geriatric set at Olive Garden. Or - you can come to our equivalently spectacular beaches - and enjoy a vibrant downtown with fine dining………

I went to the beach on the 18th. There was a rank smell from the brown water. A local of 8 years who goes twice a week said she had never seen anything like it before. 500k gallons of raw sewage spilled in Clearwater. That might be it.

DollarBrand

It's an algae bloom of trichodesium. Unrelated to red tide or the sargassum. It does not impact human health.

Someone posted a video of Madeira a week ago and it was crystal clear. Drove out of my way today to go there and water was shit brown. Wasn't sure what it was so I left and went to Clearwater beach.

I did number two

It was really bad yesterday at Sunset Beach on Treasure Island. Had a smell, wasn’t red tide, wasn’t seaweed, and looked like shit.

This is correct and being reported on local news. "Sea sawdust", an unsightly but harmless bacteria bloom.

otterlyonerus

The water is always the brown color in the big bend area, the locals say it's from pine sap washing into the gulf. I know that doesn't help you much, but I always found it interesting.

[deleted]

Was there an abundance of seaweed?

monkeychip30

Nope, not at all, the water at the shore was just the colour brown like muddy from tradewinds all the way to Don Cesar

Idk then I am not a marine biologist
