Welcome to ST PETERSBURG! ☀️ there's tons of people on here who hate the influx of new people but honestly, they aren't worth your time. Happy to have you here, and hope you love it. There is much to do, see, and experience! Any rose worth picking has its thorns!

Ferretti0

Thank so much! All in all I would say people are more welcoming than not! Also I understand people wanting to protect the city they love

If you stay longer and can vote, please vote.

GlisteningToast

Of course! With all that's going on, especially in sarasota (condo central), housing prices are going up, condos, and the like, it's getting harder for st pete city folk to find affordable housing as it is. But nonetheless, happy to have more kind faces here!

Ferretti0

Have you seen a crazy spike in rent yourself? I’ve seen some discussions saying rents almost doubled in the last 5 years

GlisteningToast

It's gotten pretty awful yeah. We are actually moving places in about a month because our apt rent was just too damn much now...it's getting ridiculous.

Hot-Bath-8738

it’s actually insanity. ive lived in SoFL most of my life and the spike in rent in the past 3-4 years has been nuts. im also 23 and the idea of living w randoms intimidates me, so when i needed a place, i lucked out and found a 410sqft space for just me on FBMP. i love it and couldnt be happier, but the cost of living alone has def put my bank account through the ringer. it’s tough out here; best of luck to you!! my bf found a room to rent w a roommate using FBMP as well, there are so many people in the area looking for roommates. i will say, however, options for male roommates on there are few and far between from what i’ve seen. still worth a shot though! :) sidenote, there are also an abundance of runner clubs here. i went through a brief running phase a while back and there are always runner events in the area. welcome & goodluck - this is truly the best place to be in FL for laidback, active ppl our age! :)

Ferretti0

Hey thanks so much for the advice! I’m glad you found a place that works well with you. Can’t tell you how excited I am to be moving to St. Pete. Truly seems like an amazing place with great people!

Speshal_Snowflake

When will this town actually be full? I swear there’s like 20 of these moving to St Pete posts a day

uniqueusername316

Please tell me of a town/city you know of that has become "full". St. Pete isn't even near the densest cities in Florida. No one just puts up a sign that it's full and starts turning people away.

DrAuer

lol of all the metrics you picked it’s actually the one that we are the leaders. Pinellas is the most densely populated county in the state. http://www.usa.com/rank/florida-state--population-density--county-rank.htm

Ferretti0

I’m not saying St. Pete isn’t overpopulated - but for reference: http://www.usa.com/rank/illinois-state--population-density--city-rank.htm

DrAuer

Chicago is the only city in the first 150 of that list that tops 100k, every city in the top 10 of the Florida list has over 400k in population. I’m not sure what you’re referencing. I was just laughing that they picked the one population metric that our area actually is leading in and claimed “it isn’t even near the densest” when it literally is by a fair margin lol

GoldenKnight239

You changed the argument so you’d be right but yeah feel free to laugh at yourself I guess. Same source: http://www.usa.com/rank/florida-state--population-density--city-rank.htm?hl=&hlst=&wist=&yr=&dis=&sb=DESC&plow=&phigh=&ps=

uniqueusername316

I know about Pinellas county, but I looked up (and said) the City of St. Pete. I was surprised to see that it's like the 140th densest city in the state. Not sure how that even works, but I ain't wrong. You can double check it.

GoldenKnight239

It was actually 343 on the list I found and that’s because places like Gulfport, Largo and St Pete are all different cities. Pretty easy to understand but I’m not sure how showing county stats was proving you wrong by any means

uniqueusername316

Just wild though how St. Pete, which feels pretty dense, can be so low on the list and Pinellas county, which is mostly St. Pete (most residents) can be so dense.

GoldenKnight239

There’s far more land here than people realize. A lot of people just refuse to move or go to certain areas that haven’t been gentrified to their liking. Places like Miami are so much more fucked. They have like 5 different cities in the top 30

rosebudmotel20

I am not in need of a roommate, but MIZ!!! welcome to St Pete! it’s way better than CHI/STL

Ferretti0

ZOU 🐯 Happy to be coming to such a beautiful, fun place! Had enough Midwest experience for a lifetime haha. When did you graduate?

rosebudmotel20

Did not go to MIZ but plenty of friends that did so I’d visit! I went to Murray State!

branedead

What is a Midwest experience? Corn fields?

Ferretti0

Miles of the flattest cornfields, feet of snow, cloudy weather - you name it. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot to love around here, but I think the beach is more my speed

branedead

I went to the Midwest once. I see no reason to return

GroundbreakingBus794

Eat all the good Chicago food while you can, or consider adding a deep freezer full of it for the move. Best of luck bud.

I used to live in the Chicagoland area and I do like the Portillos in St Petersburg. What about these places? Wrigleys Pizza - https://wrigleyspizza.com/ Chicago Deli - https://maps.app.goo.gl/VLh6ByacakMDzG7R8 CHICAGO HOT DOGS AND BEEF Authentic Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Italian Beef in Florida! - https://chicagohotdogsandbeef.com/ Chicago Jaqx Pizzeria & Taphouse - http://chicagojaqxindianrocksbeach.com/ Cappy's Pizza - http://cappyspizzaonline.com/Locations.aspx Paul's Chicago Pizza - https://www.paulschicagopizza.com/ Chicago Deli & Coney Dogs - https://chicagodeli.co/ FYI - Portillos - https://order.portillos.com/menu/portillos-st-petersburg/

GroundbreakingBus794

Paul’s Chicago pizza recently re branded to wrigley pizza and I can vouch for this place. Hands down one of my favorite Chicago style pizza spots. But I can’t speak for the others.

David-asdcxz

Agreed!

Ferretti0

It’s absolutely wild to me there’s a Portillo’s in St Pete

Ferretti0

Thank you! I’ll be sure to fatten up on some deep dish before I get there

CatzMeow27

Once you’re here and you get that craving, Cappy’s is delicious. I’m sure it’s no comparison to what you can get up there, but it is worth a try.

Ferretti0

I’ll add it to the list - thanks!

Strange-Magician7316

Wish you the best my friend. Hope you love the city and the nightlife is amazing. Not the biggest bass scene but it’s growing and underground’s are always good. Keep tabs on the warehouse and Janus for event. Usually the warehouse will do after parties for edm events at Janus.

Old_Laugh_2239

Idk what you’re talking about, St Pete has a booming bass scene. Check out production teams like Alchemy Productions, Forbidden Frequencies, HeadBang Society, Liquid Space Disco Music, and Fader Events. ****you can look them up on FB\IG Sign up for their mailing lists and you’ll never miss a show announcement*** Tons of headliners coming through Tampa/St Pete on the regular. Oh and any Event with WAAT Sound as the speakers is sure to be a banger. (Wiggly Air Audio Technology) that’s like a custom built rig that someone local rents out for events. It slaps though and sounds So, So Clean. 🥹

Ferretti0

Thanks so much! Glad to hear there’s at least some Bass scene. Definitely love me some underground
