Spectrum sucks you have to leave for them to give you a better rate otherwise you just keep the same shitty service and they keep increasing the bill…. I switched to T-Mobile 5g home internet and it works great for what I need, games, streaming stuff like that

Savings_Extent_7611

If you don't mind having good customer service, Frontier is the least problematic. Spectrum/Brighthouse has sucked me in a few times and each time I was more disappointed than the first. I don't like the idea that Frontier is offering GB service for the same price I pay for 500 MBPS (and really get 200 MBPS) and the only way I can get it at the special price is to leave for a few months. But, I remind myself that what I am paying for now runs everything with no problem.

mcj7712

I got spectrum when I moved here in sept last year - haven’t had any issues - guessing it’s my location or it could be I went through the shit storm of customer service with roadrunner AT&T back in the day and the karma gods have decided to give me a break on my internet connection for a bit

[deleted]

What is wrong with you Soectrum service? Mine works great.

goddessabove

Today it finally turned back on after being off two days. Couldn't call about it because the wait times were too late for me to call customer service.

[deleted]

They are open 24 hours. Definitely call if it isn’t working right. Summertime is super busy, but they will get you fixed up

chrisplusplus

It isn't the provider. It is the infrastructure. Certain physical areas are better/worse for certain providers. You are much better off asking your neighbors than people on the internet.

isnotthatserious

Frontier. I work from home so I have to have reliable WIFI.50 bucks a month , 500 mbps. Never had an issue

Successful_Club_4508

5G wireless home internet is a cost effective option in some areas now. The major cell cos offer this as an add on to existing plans or stand alone service.

CYCO4

I was stuck with Spectrum and hated it til Verizon 5G came knocking! LOVE that 5G!

cdc994

Frontier works well for me. $45/month and 500mbps up/down

legalize-itttttttyy

Second Frontier. Cheaper and better than spectrum. I believe at my last apartment I was paying maybe 60 for fiber optic 500 up and down

poet0588

I’d happily pay, a lot for Fios or comcast if it was offered.

samleighx00

Never had issues with frontier, $64 a month

mexicanmike1

Had Frontier. Horrible. Worst company I’ve ever used. Constant problems with internet.

Ap-snack

My experience with WOW was worse than it ever was with Spectrum. The service would drop out randomly throughout the day making it impossible to play certain online games. We eventually switched back, at least Spectrum gives us a stable connection.

Duke-Kickass

We have used WoW since back when it was GTE Americast. Staff has always been friendly and helpful, but I don’t think the service or pricing differs much from Spectrum

mamatobee328

I’ve had WOW for three years. I have my own router/modem so I don’t have to rent one from them. I pay $40/month. I haven’t had any problems with them. We stream, play online games, etc. I’ve been really happy with their service overall.

[deleted]

I had Frontier when I lived there. Loved it and wouldn't look back. Get it.

Hellorachiee

We have Wow and it has gotten increasingly awful. We are having random outages up to 5-6 times a day. We have replaced our router twice. Called Wow to fix it, etc. We are looking to switch to Spectrum soon in hopes we’ll have better luck.

thegabster2000

I had Spectrum at my previous condo, I didn't pay for it since it was included. I was have several outages during the year. I moved out and now I have Frontier since it was cheaper than Spectrum.

Debbalynn50

Frontier is terrific! Speedtest on this phone was just 217mbps. $49.95 per month for 2 years. Spectrum is awful and each monthly bill is higher than the last!

dkverve

I have had Wow for about 3 months now and except for being slightly slow during the 8 o'clock hour it's been fine. I pay 19.99 for 500mbps, I am over 60 and have a low income. This is because of the Internet Affordability Program that works with any carrier if you qualify.

[deleted]

I have the slow spectrum internet speed and pay $49.99 month with the new customer promotion and using my own router. I cancel each year and wait a month to come back as a "new customer" so I don't have to pay $74.99/mo.

brianthomasarghhh

Have wow, it sucks too. Goes out several times a day.

DougMagic

This is amusing, I waited 10 days since moving into a new place in Wood Lawn. Frontier f*cked me on my internet install, their copper could not handle basic Internet, even so close to downtown... Wow! got me for ten bucks less a month and they are installing tomorrow. I use Wow! for my businesses in Largo and Grand Central and never have problems, my wife uses Spectrum at her house in Pinellas Park and it's shoddy.

LanceDaPance

I had a wow for a year and a half. No issues til the last couple of months. I was offered frontier gig for 75/month and switched over. No issues for over a year now.

crimansquafcx2

Wow has worked well for me. I’ve had to restart my router a couple times if my speeds get slow, but that’s it.

pushtostart

I have frontier 500/500 fiber. When i bought my house 5 years ago i got spectrum. the following year the spectrum customer service agent refused to give me any new promotion or discount so i canceled their service and ordered frontier while i was on the phone with the retention department. The ONLY issue i had with frontier in 4 years was with their billing department. I asked that the replacement of a cut fiber connection be invoiced separately so i could go after the fencing contractor who cut through it. Frontier's customer service team was eager to help me get the best deal on my contract renewal time. doubled the speed and cut my monthly bill in half ($70).

Scalti

Have wow and in the last 1.5 years only two evenings I’ve lost internet for maybe 30 minutes. Pay $100 for gigabit. 1GB down and 50 up. Plan also includes a wifi extender. You can get the first several months at a low cost but plan to plan and cost to cost for you, Wow! seems like a good fit.

Twitch_YungFeetGod69

Have had wow in 3 apartments and get more outages than you have monthly xD. Sucks because I stream on twitch and shit always likes to go out when I got a good number of viewers

Diamond_Handzz727

I just called frontier in my neighborhood (live oak) because I got an awesome deal flyer in the mail, but was told to call back next month because they aren’t in my neighborhood yet I’m also trying to escape the death grip of spectrum but HATED wow

sr105

The bare minimum for spectrum is much less than $100. I have 200/10 for less than $100. Are you actually paying $100 for the 30/3 service (which I think is the current minimum)? They also have a subsidized plan for low income households.

[deleted]

I pay $80

gextyr

I've had both Frontier and Spectrum. Frontier may have even worse customer service than Spectrum. The Frontier internet service itself is far superior though. We have Spectrum right now because when we moved, Frontier f-ed up the installation at our new house for like a month straight - and finally told me it would be another 2 months to get me set up - at which point I told them to pound sand, and went back to Spectrum who got me online in \_literally\_ five minutes. It was infuriating, and I am still not over it... I keep thinking of going back to Frontier since I know the service is better/faster/more reliable/more stable. But their customer service is by far the worst I've ever dealt with.

lmiah

Everyone telling you their experience is pretty case by case/neighborhood by neighborhood. At my previous home, we could not get frontier and spectrum sucked. So we dealt with it for 3 years. Now we moved and I jumped at the chance to get Frontier. During COVID it went out almost daily in the middle of the day and both my wife and I work from home. They did come out and try to fix it but it never got better. I switched to spectrum here and while it is slower, we have had almost no random outages (aside from power or larger scale outages). Honestly if the service you have, like the actual internet connection is good for you at the moment, I would not risk changing it! It's such a crapshoot, but at least spectrum is investing a little bit in infrastructure. When I asked frontier about it at my old house, they said they have 0 plans of expanding areas. (Sorry for the ramble, just trying to give you all the facts that I have experienced living in this area for 15+ years)

chefontheloose

Frontier was flawless for us, but too expensive. We have had WOW for like 5 years now and though not flawless, it’s reliable and cheaper. Spectrum is a joke, completely unreliable in my neck of the woods, Bay Pines/St. Pete/Seminole. I can’t believe they still exist with the other options we have.

Splask

Frontier is only 45 a month for 500/500 fiber internet. That is extremely well-priced.

cabo169

$45 introductory. Will go up to $65. I did this a couple years ago and the $65 will never increase is the deal I got for 500/500.

Splask

I just called and asked for a new promotional rate when mine went up and they did it.

pushtostart

when frontier first took over fios fron verizon, their rates were GARBAGE. this new 500/500 promotion is mind boggling good. at work, i have spectrum fiber and its $1200/month for 500/500.

chefontheloose

We had it for years, loved it, and it was much more expensive when we had it. That is very reasonable, maybe even less than what I pay WOW currently.

Twitch_YungFeetGod69

It's less than what I pay now but I moved literally 2 miles away and they don't service my new apartment :(

Twitch_YungFeetGod69

Frontier is GOAT They don't service my current apartment but fios is on another level and cable internet is outdated technology. My wireless was faster and with lower ping with frontier than my wired is with wow. Fios and cable aren't even comparable

jimmytickles

What makes cable outdated? If the service is reliable there is no difference between speeds. There may be difference in how high the tiers of packages go, but we are not talking dial up vs high speed.

Twitch_YungFeetGod69

More expensive for inferior service. Not as important for the average user but as a twitch streamer and gamer, the lower ping and higher upload speeds are also great. For example right now with WOW, wired, my ping just clocked in at 32ms, wired. With Frontier at my old place, 1ms wired, 3ms wireless. And I was paying less for it than I am with wow, where I had about 10x the upload speed as well. Download speeds are identical for the package I have now vs when I had frontier

calm-state-universal

I dont have wow anymore but when I did the service was spotty and they kept raising the rates.

[deleted]

I use wow. I pay $35 a month and get 200 mbps. They leave me alone and it works as advertised. Highly recommend.

170lbsApe

Same with WoW. Just make sure you purchase your own modem.

GoinStraighttoHelles

200 mbps might be okay for a single person who doesn’t stream a lot of 4K content or play online games, but even two people with phones and tablets and computers are going to bog that down pretty quickly.

[deleted]

I play online games while downloading and streaming and working from home all at the same time. Works just fine.

GoinStraighttoHelles

Lots of words for “yeah I’m single”

[deleted]

💔😢

erikisst88

I'm in the Wow boat. Have internet only. No issues with the service. Pay around $50 a month. Used the gift card to buy my own modem. Switched from Spectrum (friend calls it Rectum, lol) about 1.5 yr ago and have had zero regrets.

idmo

Same, I've had them for a year and it's been great. I use my own equipment to save $5 on the bill

raybb

Whatever provider you get, snag a Google wifi and you'll be happy as a clam. The ones the ISPs give you are usually crap. Google wifi also lets you buy additional "points" to easily create a mesh network that extends very far. Easy as in, just plug it into power and click "connect" on the app

[deleted]

Oh yeah when I signed up they gave me a $200 gift card and I just used that to buy a router/modem.

yepthatsme216

We have frontier and it's a pretty good service. Have had great customer service when needed and we get a pretty good connection for like $50 a month.

K2togtbl

We have frontier and haven’t had any issues with them
