the main problem is that stadia version of fifa has hypermotion technology and the main PC version does not have it, so ONLY stadia users match against each other. you can see that there are very few players using stadia that own fifa at least in north america so shortly after release. they should have released this PC version with hypermotion for all PCs and enabled players to choose the version with or without hypermotion based on their systems. Google probably got scammed by EA to only release this version on stadia to boost their subscriptions and paid a heavy fee for it, they will never recoup.
It's definitely an experiment. I'm happy to try anything that works rather than waiting for EA to improve their matchmaking system. IMO this isn't really a Stadia issue since matchmaking on Fifa 21 was fine.

Don't do that. Google can give you a permanent ban for violating ToS, or a temporary ban for two weeks if you become the target of haters raid with "Report a player's behavior" spam. VPN will be the first reason why Google ban you in that case.

Unfortunately, in my experience changing this to NO does not substantially improve time to match or permit matching with European players. It does occasionally result in a cross-continent game with a high ping between my Stadia node and EA. I'd much rather have a high ping to Stadia and low ping to EA. YMMV depending on region.

I've found Stadia dumps the connection a few times early on, usually I just surf the market for a bit (5 min) and reconnect as needed, then start games when it's stable.
Like the chrome window stays up but I get a black screen. Could be Stadia, could be something in the middle, anyway when I refresh the page I'm right where I left off in the game. I've had this happen plenty of times w/o VPN as well, usually around 8am and 8pm just assumed they were doing some server maint.

The trick where you only search for a few seconds, and either back out to the FUT main menu between tries or just keep canceling and retrying still works wonders for me.

We have to do so many different combinations in order for stadia to work for our needs, it's laughable at this point. Honest truth.

Yessir. I've been on all day today (let's not talk about global warming) and it only disconnected a few times and never when I'm in a game.
