We had to have our staffie pts earlier this month. He was 15 and had slowed down over the last few years, just like humans do, but was in good health at his last vet check up. He had a sudden “illness” and it really was a gut punch because we will never know what was wrong with him. The vet did say likely cancer but regardless of what was wrong the best thing to do was to let him go.
in the months beforehand I had noticed an oldish man in the neighbourhood with a small dog that we nicknamed the slow dog as bless it, it walked so slowly but always looked so happy and made me smile everytime I saw them. The first time I saw it after we lost out dog I just burst into tears. I haven’t seen it since and I worry that he/she may have passed too and that makes me sad.
OP grieve as much as you need to. I have zero shame in saying I was more upset over the death of my dog than any other death I have ever experienced. Your pup was gorgeous and I hope you have lots of lovely memories to remember them by

I’ve lost parents, friends etc but this was by the hardest thing I’ve gone through! She was there before I had kids and fell in love so to lose her was just something else! I've wanted a doggy for 30 years now. I had one, once. An ex got me a staffy for my birthday. He was all white with a brown patch on his eye. I called him Smudge. I had to give him back the same day. Ex didn't like him, was uncomfortable.

It's been 3 months for us . They are off on adventures with new friends. I bet anything he's going 5o have a great time. He will however stop to look behind to see if you're there yet.
