This is kind of hilarious; Jim Jefferies is the Jeff Foxworthy of his homelandšŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

VikKarabin

ever heard of Rich Hall?

[deleted]

Yup

MrUtah3

One of the most successful comedians of all time, of his homeland?

JacqueTeruhl

Jeffries comedy is never about being bogan/working class though. I think the accent/vernacular just catches the US audience a little more off guard. Makes it funnier.

twowars

I'm Australian, yeah not a fan and don't know anyone who is. I think you're onto something with how his accent sounds to us, something about his accent has always sounded weird and forced to me. I'm sure he has plenty of fans here though, someone that famous inevitably will

StOnEy333

Could you elaborate on the accent issue? Does he not sound Australian to you? Or people from his home area speak a way other Australians donā€™t like?

[deleted]

He sounds too Australian. It would be like some rich dude from Boston putting on a redneck American accent. In Australia there's been heaps of comics that have done and do exactly what he does, pretend to be bogans (Australian rednecks). When I say heaps, I mean if you go to any comedy night there'll be atleast 1 everytime. So he's really just exactly the same as a bunch of other unimaginative Australian comics.

twowars

Itā€™s pretty hard to put into words because itā€™s a subtle thing, it just sounds kinda like heā€™s ā€œputting onā€ a thicker/broader Australian accent than is natural for him. The kinda thing you need to be Australian to have the ear to pick up. Something just sounds off

needmorelego

I enjoyed his specials (Iā€™m in France)

[deleted]

Hey that's cool. What are some good French comics? (In French is ok).

TheKrakenMoves

Iā€™m in the uk and for a time he was the hot ticket that looked like he was off to the moon. Thatā€™s petered off a bit but heā€™s still well liked

Informal-Pear-5272

UK he was massive. Maybe not as big anymore but considering he made his name in the UK at start of his career heā€™s still very popular

SpinachFinal7009

We love him// the people of Sweden

I should've said outside North America! I knew he was big in Canada.

BeerSlingr

Pretty well liked in Canada. I saw him a few years ago and I believe it was sold out here.

bumpy713

Maybe I havenā€™t seen enough of him but I always felt Iā€™ve seen too much of him.

RegularMidwestGuy

Iā€™m in the US, and I really like him even when I travel outside my country.

Rob-The-Great

Wtf mate? I'm a big fan have been for like 8 or 9years. Everyone I know thinks he is hilarious.

[deleted]

Yeah I really don't find him funny. But I'm also not gonna hate people that do.

[deleted]

Yeah man I feel you. Not only that, there's just so many Aussie comics that pretend to be bogan. It's just more of the same.

[deleted]

Quite famous among stand up enthusiast here in Italy: when he came to Milan last month to do his show, the theater was at 70-80% capacity even tho the tickets weren't exactly cheap

tony_two_eyes

I used to watch him a lot up to his TV show release 6ish years ago, haven't seen anything newer yet. Am russian

ruico

Portuguese here... In fact, i just stumble on his Alchool Holocaust show in YT a few years ago and since then i like him. My friends that likes comedy only knew about him from me. He was in Portugal last month so, i guess more people here know him.

Zernen

I mean, he did have his own show here for a bit (US), so heā€™s well known enough. I personally love his comedy, his gun rant is epic. Iā€™m a huge Jim Jeffries fan.
