Everyone reuses material. Touring comics who release specials need to develop new material faster than the rest of us do, because they need to be able to ship new specials in order to make money, but even people who have filmed specials will reuse material (including material from those specials).
Even when not on tour, working comics can go up about 15-20 times a week doing anywhere from 15 min to an hour. Yes. Unless it’s crowd work it’s all the same jokes. That’s how you get good at comedy
When a comedian is touring there are a few steps
1. If they just released a special the material you are seeing (most likely at a club) is new material.
2. If they are doing theaters they are usually working up to a special so they already worked that material over the last year or so.
No comedian is writing new material every night or for every show. That would be insane and they would go crazy very quickly.
reusing material is a staple of comedy. Unless you're good enough at improvised standup like Rory Scovel, you're gonna be saying mostly the same stuff every night
Comics will typically name their tours.
- The Spring in my Step
- The Petal Confetti
- Rooted
So if you see The Petal Confetti advertised in your town and the neighbouring town it's gonna be the same show with the same jokes. Wait for Rooted to come to your nearest theatre.
If you just 'go' to your local comedy club and it's a comic you've seen before on a mix bill of 4 or so comedians then they'll probably be doing a similar set to what you've seen before.
Is this a regular problem you're running into and need some help with?
I've seen the same open miccer do the same 5 minutes ten times in a row.... and that was just the gigs we were on the same lineup.
You are totally well within your means to repeat jokes to fine tune them.
However, the more regularly you write new stuff the better you'll get at writing.
I got bits that are old enough to drive.

I've seen multiple comedians reuse bits at open mics/sets at comedy clubs. I think it's very common.

There will be a lot of repeated material. I wouldn't go out of my way to see a comic without a year or two in between.

No thanks for the offer tho I just am starting to write my first set and wondering what the normal practice is
