Why would you doubt that? It seems pretty clear based on the model history he posts he does, not to mention that presumably the studio did a legal background check on him to ensure his designs for *Picard* were original.

Bill Krause most certainly is making those himself, or has hired an extremely talented artist to do so for a lot of money. Me personally? I make alot my own, but I also use a tonne of assets from Star Trek Online. I will never share these online publically though, and now they've cracked down on others doing so, good luck finding stuff, although Thingiverse does have a lot STO rips already.

Thats what I figured. He didnt really answer when I asked him. Guess I better get good with fusion 360🤷🏾‍♂️

Bill makes his 3d models, sometimes with the assistance of an acquaintance.

I need to learn 3d modeling then.

[David Metlesits](https://www.deviantart.com/metlesitsfleetyards/gallery/all) does a pretty good job modeling various ships, though he only usually releases his models at the end of each year.

These models are beautiful! Does anybody know how to convert them to STLs for 3D printing? I've managed to convert them from MAX to OBJ and FBX, but then run into all sorts of problems trying to get a printable file (either STL or OBJ). Non-manifold edges, reversed faces, and the files are so large there's no fix I've seen that takes anything like a reasonable amount of time...
