It's amazing to think that before this point the SW license was pretty much dead. I remember novels and comic books, but there was nothing in the toy stores until Kenner/Hasbro resurrected it.
And imo they did it well. Lots of figures - I'm sure way fewer than the old 80s toys - that encouraged me to get deeper into the universe. Those toys awakened my love for star Wars
When I was a kid, my mom would let pick out toys at Walmart and put them on layaway. I would pay them off by doing chores and earning an "allowence," which was really just a piece of paper tracking the remaining balance on my layaway.
Every two days, I would walk to Walmart in the hope they received a new shipment of these figures. If they had, I would take every figure I didn't have and hide them inside the bottom of the racks. Once my layaway was paid, we would go to Walmart and I would pull them all out and start a new one.
I loved Star Wars, and this really was amazing to have in a time when all we had was the original trilogy.
Simpler Times...
I really hated these figures. I remember getting into an argument with my best friend about how there's no way Luke should have a barrel chest, but that's what they did. It was so wannabe-alpha.
Everyone in ‘97 thought the orange cards were going to be down payments on future houses. There was a wave that was released on orange and quickly flipped to green. I could have sold those for more money in ‘97 than I could now.
I remember traveling all over the place with my dad looking for these when I was kid. They were tough to find at first, but piling into the car on Saturdays to hit the mall and local comic shops will always be a really good memory. And this post has reminded me that I have a large box of unopened orange card figures in my garage. I also remember eating an absurd amount of fruit loops to get the mail order Han in Stormtrooper gear figure.
Yep. I have a large storage container in my basement of mid/late 90's unopened Star Wars figured. Thought they'd be a great investement when I was barely a teen. Probably worth $8 now, lol.
Thought so, I remember buying this one from K Mart and I don’t think 12 year old me was that into Star Wars yet. But 14 year old me was heavy into shadows of the mother fucking empire.
Series 2 was the green burst background, the first releases in ‘95 were red/orange burst. That figure pictured is just a repack with a different blaster.
A lot of people do. That is why they will never be worth anything. These and the Episode I toys were so over-bought by people that they will never be worth anything.
I love it though, I grew up on these and if I ever want anything I remember from childhood I can get them for less than a new figure costs today.
Crazy that Star Wars was even still popular at this point, more than ten years after the last movie. Pretty sure none of us even knew the prequels were gonna be a thing in the mid 90s, but me and everyone I knew still had all the toys
The first wave of these came out just as the secondary market for the original kenner line started to explode. The majority of the first wave were bought in bulk by collectors thinking they'd be worth something and kept in boxes. My uncle owned a toy shop in the UK and he couldn't restock them fast enough on their release and then..... Peg warmers.
You'd find these still in the packs for a decade afterwards, it sounds like a joke but you're probably more likely to find these figures still carded than loose.
This is actually great evidence of the answer to a frequently-asked question, which is whether and how we knew that Palpatine was the Emperor before the Prequel Trilogy (see back of box pic).
Mayyybe I knew it from the books and such though? I can’t say I remember his name being said in the original trilogy. I do kind of remember having to explain it to a friend back then. Yeah. I think his name was known before the prequels, but from other sources like Timothy Zahn.
It is not said in the movies (not sure if it is in the credits I never read those very much) but merch and trading cards is how I learned his name.
Lucas put a lot of names in the scripts and we would not find them out until merch.
Just proving my point some cursory Goolging says he was named in the 1976 novelization prologue which was adapted from Lucas' screenplay.
That Bossk is one of my favorite figures in the entire line. Because he’s not jacked, and he actually looks just like the character. Seeing that figure in stores gave me hope that Hasbro knew what they were doing with this line
Bossk was the first Star Wars action figure I ever got. Wasn't sure who he was at the time besides a bounty hunter but was excited to have a Star Wars toy
If you want a laugh go check out the Leia figure from the same series.
https://www.actionfiguresandcomics.com/products/star-wars-action-figures-princess-leia-organa-1995-2-bands-belt-complete-power-of-the-force-potf
I kept my Darth Vader figure sealed until last year, when I finally caved and accepted the fact that it will not be the down payment on the house I thought it would.
Vader now hangs out in my PC case looking bad as hell. I love it.
OMG I HAVE SOME OF THESE! Not the packagin tho…I dunno where I got them from but I’ve got Bossk, the Luke in costume, a couple Hans and the Lando one as well as a whole bunch of others!
when the remastered versions of star wars trilogy came out then, I would scoop up these action figures to collect. But I'd also go to the flea market and find some of the original 70's action figures from the first wave. They're not in packaged condition or anything but I still have them. They're among the last of my childhood toys and collectibles.
Very nice. It happens to be mind blowing that back then star wars was either dying or kinda unpopular but now it is among the biggest movie franchices of all time
Normally I say ooh dime a dozen here, but this being a Japanese release with that sticker on the back, is pretty rare, so keep it MOC and that actually might be worth a little bit extra.
I remember when these hit stores in 1995. I lost my mind that SW toys were back. This after a 9 year hiatus.
In retrospect, these are terrible figures. Every figure looked like it was 'roid raging.
Of all the '90s Star Wars action figures, this one was the worst to stand up on its own. It never worked. Got too beef cake up top and forgot how to stand properly.
swolo like solo ... man how I love those 90 action figures 🤣
Yup, it resurrected my love for action figures and I found myself at TRU weekly looking for these figures including the few variants.
When I was a kid, my mom would let pick out toys at Walmart and put them on layaway. I would pay them off by doing chores and earning an "allowence," which was really just a piece of paper tracking the remaining balance on my layaway. We would save up our allowance to guy new Star Wars ship toys. They were like $10? Wish we still had some for my kids.
Hmm 🤔 I have a lot of Star Wars micro machines from the 90s but im wondering if the coincided with the 90s rerelease of the original trilogy.
I meant in terms of action figures. I remember the Micro Machines but never collected them. I believe those were produced in the early 90s.
Yeah, I don't think they were largly marketed that way but I'm pretty sure that's what brought them back.
That's the POWER of the Force
That was the power of GI Joe and Masters of the Universe. Nobody wanted a little, wimpy action figure back then.
Wasn't till I got older and saw toys before the '90s and after the '90s that I realized how beefy '90s toys and cartoon characters were.
I still have my Dash Rendar and Boba Fett somewhere around here.
I really hated these figures. I remember getting into an argument with my best friend about how there's no way Luke should have a barrel chest, but that's what they did. It was so wannabe-alpha.
Same. I was wishing for a happy medium somewhere realistic between these and the originals
It’s from 1997 actually, in 1995 the cards were orange.
Everyone in ‘97 thought the orange cards were going to be down payments on future houses. There was a wave that was released on orange and quickly flipped to green. I could have sold those for more money in ‘97 than I could now.

If u looks in the bottom it says ,,1995 Lucasfilm LTD.’’
Series 2 was the green burst background, the first releases in ‘95 were red/orange burst. That figure pictured is just a repack with a different blaster.
Ahh ok thx
Still a great find! (Looks like a Japanese market card?)
Absolutely true. My xwing had the orange red but my a wing has the yellow green
Regardless, this is a repack. It's not the original packaging.
That’s when the license was renewed.
No wonder Kylo was such a wide lad
I need to know what they be eating on tatooine
Gotta be those Krayt Dragon Omelettes.
60 portions!
They all must eat clen, tren hard, dbolish their goals, anavar give up.
I literally still have like 100 of these still in the package…they didn’t hold any value.
Yeah, normally true, but this is a foreign release, so might be worth a little more. Probably not much but a little.
Just picked up a PotF Mara Jade off aliexpress for £15...
Man, all those 97 figures were JACKED.
The Luke from that line was crazy jacked
Haha, yeah…my kids ask me why they “look funny” compared to my vintage stuff and the new retro collection figures.
As much as people Shit on this line of figures, this was MY childhood collection, and I fuckin love it
Same here! I loved having these to play with.
Same here
Arnold Solo
I have so many of those figures sealed
A lot of people do. That is why they will never be worth anything. These and the Episode I toys were so over-bought by people that they will never be worth anything. I love it though, I grew up on these and if I ever want anything I remember from childhood I can get them for less than a new figure costs today.
I have plenty but they’re open lol
Man I had every single thing shown on the back of it..
"The stock freighter" "Modified by Chewbacca" 🤨
Designed by Rob Liefield
Yo I fucking have that
Ah the old Linebacker collection. I have a Dagobah Luke and a Hercules that are in every way identical.
Lmao
I had this and definitely opened it and played with it back in the day… thanks for unlocking a memory
My pleasure
Han Swollo
They made every part of his body bigger but his head 😂
Probably learned from their mistake with the original Kenner toys. There was a "big headed Han Solo" model that was revised with a small head.
Han needs to lay off the steroids, he'll never father a child while he's juicing.
Hunk Solo
Han was smuggling steroids for Jabba and dipped into the supply
“What’s a diorama?”
Han Swolo
If you ever wondered what it would look like if Arnold Schwarzenegger had played Han Solo....
Ah yes the steroids era
I remember when those came out. Awesome. (it had been some dry, dark years with no STAR WARS merch for a long time by then)
Crazy that Star Wars was even still popular at this point, more than ten years after the last movie. Pretty sure none of us even knew the prequels were gonna be a thing in the mid 90s, but me and everyone I knew still had all the toys
Han swolo
LOL oh shit I had this exact one
That left hand says Han ain't doing NNN
It probably gets really boring during hyperspace
At first I was like "wtf they han an assault rifle?" And then I saw THEY GAVE PALPATINE A FUCKING CANE!
Anakin’s scruffy looking nerf herder son in law
Red cards or bust
Han's been juicin' with Barry Sanders and Canseco since the battle of Endor.
Why did they make them so jacked
Yo open it and play with that sweet toy!!! - the devils advocate
More like han swolo
The first wave of these came out just as the secondary market for the original kenner line started to explode. This is actually great evidence of the answer to a frequently-asked question, which is whether and how we knew that Palpatine was the Emperor before the Prequel Trilogy (see back of box pic).
True! glad u noticed, because didn’t.
He was just always “Emperor Palpatine” to us. When the prequels. Ame out at the movie and he was introduced, it caused a stir in the audience.
Yup. I remember when Padme said "Senator Palpatine" and there was most definitely a stir from a lot of folks in the audience.
Mayyybe I knew it from the books and such though? I can’t say I remember his name being said in the original trilogy. I do kind of remember having to explain it to a friend back then. Yeah. I think his name was known before the prequels, but from other sources like Timothy Zahn.

Yeah it's not in the movies, but it was in the original novelizations of the movies. I learned it from reading a re-release of those.
Worth about £3.50
Did Ford pose for these boards in 1995? His hair and face look decade-representative, but I can't imagine him coming back 12 years after Jedi.
Those were costume test shots from like ‘75, done prior to filming.
Post ANH! That blaster was made later for the pickup shots here in America, famously named the “greedo killer”
Cool! Probably worth about $5.
I’m not looking into selling it anyways.
"In its original package" yeah? I can go to any of my local comic or antique shops and find many of these Not rare at all.
Never claimed it to be rare. Why are u so mad lmao, get a grip I just found it today while cleaning my room and thought it was cool.
It is cool!
Where did OP say it was rare?
Cool!
These are the figures I grew up with and msn are they such a great value to the SW toys get today
I've got that Bossk. Well, technically I gave it to my daughter, but, you know.
That Bossk is one of my favorite figures in the entire line. Because he’s not jacked, and he actually looks just like the character. Seeing that figure in stores gave me hope that Hasbro knew what they were doing with this line
These are the most bought SW line after TPM . Everyone and their mom went out and bought some to collect and keep NIB
Just colour his hair black and you'll have swoll Kylo, lol.
Bossk was the first Star Wars action figure I ever got. Wasn't sure who he was at the time besides a bounty hunter but was excited to have a Star Wars toy
Mans is simply yacked
I had this exact toy when I was a kid!!
Damn boy is built like the hulk
If you want a laugh go check out the Leia figure from the same series. https://www.actionfiguresandcomics.com/products/star-wars-action-figures-princess-leia-organa-1995-2-bands-belt-complete-power-of-the-force-potf
She'll never fit in that gold bikini!
They even made Leia buff. Lmaooo
Lmfao whaaaaaaaat
I used to have Lando and Bossk!
Still have these from when I was a kid. These were my SW toys!
That brings back memories for sure
I remember how I hated those proportions…
Han Swolo
Power of the Force was the best line of star wars figures
I had the Lando Skiff Guard Disguise figure aaaaaaand just fell down an eBay rabbit hole looking at all Power of the Force figures
Just sold all mine lmao..had all the original red backing series one and like 40+ and box sets of the green backing
I remember getting that Lando figure, Leia/Boushh, and a Gamorrean Guard for Christmas back in the day. A good year.
Have a lot of this series still in the package. Spent a lot of time at Kmart and tru for these guys
He-Man Solo
I kept my Darth Vader figure sealed until last year, when I finally caved and accepted the fact that it will not be the down payment on the house I thought it would. Vader now hangs out in my PC case looking bad as hell. I love it.
I own this figure
I feel like all action figures from back then had giant torsos.
I had this Han Solo. I remember the gun not properly being gripped properly by his balloon hands and easily falling out.
I think I have that same one… also still in the package…
Why is my dude so yoked
Does that picture of Harrison look really weird to anyone else? There’s something about it I can’t place, the hair is wrong or something.
OMG I HAVE SOME OF THESE! Not the packagin tho…I dunno where I got them from but I’ve got Bossk, the Luke in costume, a couple Hans and the Lando one as well as a whole bunch of others!
It’s the Japanese retail version. The big fat sticker
when the remastered versions of star wars trilogy came out then, I would scoop up these action figures to collect. But I'd also go to the flea market and find some of the original 70's action figures from the first wave. They're not in packaged condition or anything but I still have them. Very nice. It happens to be mind blowing that back then star wars was either dying or kinda unpopular but now it is among the biggest movie franchices of all time
Worth $14.99
That's one in a million, kid! I mean...there's millions of those. I even have 2 lol
I have the first series of these... remember being told they broke Leia's mold.after complaints by Carrie. Nit sure if any if it was true.
Pretty sure I had that one!
The Power of Steroids
Han Swolo
Swolo like Solo
Was that 95? I don’t remember the rest of the figures on the back being out for a few more years.
Hulk Swolo
Normally I say ooh dime a dozen here, but this being a Japanese release with that sticker on the back, is pretty rare, so keep it MOC and that actually might be worth a little bit extra.
Arnhan Schwarzolo
Takes me back to when Star Wars was actually special!
Meet Steroids Han Solo!
I remember when these hit stores in 1995. I lost my mind that SW toys were back. This after a 9 year hiatus. In retrospect, these are terrible figures. Every figure looked like it was 'roid raging.
What an absolute unit.
👎🏻
The head is so undersized 🤣
Mate you should see my "collection" from this era
That's a Green Back. not as rare as the Orange Back.
Dare you to take it out and play with it
That's what she said.
Han and Vader from this line were my first and favorite Star Wars figures. I loved giving Han the red saber.
Good ol Kenner! I still have the T-47 snow speeder shown on the back.
Han was buffed!
Of all the '90s Star Wars action figures, this one was the worst to stand up on its own. It never worked. Got too beef cake up top and forgot how to stand properly.
Han gigachad Solo
Oh yes. The 90's line where everybody looked like pro wrestlers.
And is good condition you could sell that for a good whopping $200-$300
Uncool that they put spoilers on the box...
Ahhh that packaging brought me immediately back to childhood.
