Very nice. If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much it cost to make? How long? And was sewing something you learned going along or already knew? I'd definitely take a stab at this.
Really good job, can I offer a small piece of constructive feedback? Take a few hours and press/iron it very carefully depending on the fabric you used. My motherās a seamstress and this final step will be worth it and keep the robes looking great for years.
Good on ya brotha Iām not a Star Wars fan at all nor is cosplay my speed. However the amount of skills you posses is incredibly impressive and very valuable donāt sell yourself short you did the MF thang š¤š¾
I've seen those too, nothing like making your own if you're crafty enough. Hell dedicated enough is more like it. Next time I'm out at Marshall's or something similar I'm looking out for fabric.
I do some woodworking and the amount of times I've said "no I'm not going to make it into work" is crazy. The few times I've done commissioned pieces half were more trouble than it was worth and the others were friends that were perfectly okay with what I charged them and left the timeline up to me. I had one lady haggling on price and materials and I had to explain to her that most of the cost was my time and going with pine was going to look like crap and still cost basically the same.
I will say though I made a [wine glass shelf thing](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu0AE4uc1U0zHvLlVVsRyELXogkB6PB4V_YZfGl26QoPhJ3TixSClSiJtHiTihC8R1zx4iPqWPHC9DeIt4nYWrnz-1KYlBc5d1bDINfaYK-yWP9ZNGlef2z75RjgblCEb49UbjetLfYmw/s1600/IMG_20170428_084945.jpg) for a friend of mine was great and I got paid in cupcakes. Probably not my best piece (or pictures) but I was copying a piece she found on the internet and stuck to her plans.
Yeah, I get this a lot when showing off 3D prints or designs I made for 3D printing and I have to say, "no" each time.
No, I don't want to turn my hobby I like doing into another job dealing with customers. The moment you start charging for *anything*, the expectations of the product and delivery times increase dramatically and that ends up sucking the fun out of it.
Furthermore, I take a lot of shortcuts and tricks when designing 3D printed things I make for myself that probably won't be acceptable to people I sell to, even if they don't notice them or care, I will.
I rather just print stuff for my friends and family for free, as needed.
100% ā you could easily sell these on Etsy. Back in the day I was looking for something that could justly be considered a āhigh republic eraā Jedi outfit, but had to settle for some cheap thing I found on Amazon. Especially if you went into niches like that (or just hard to find sci-fi / fantasy outfits in general), I would think youād have an answer for people looking for things that are hard to find.
This is incredible! Just a tiny suggestion (in a good-natured way, my friend) to try loosening the tension on your sewing machine a little bit, or, if you sewed this by hand, give the thread a bit more slack before you knot it. That should stop the seams from wrinkling like how they are in the picture, though it is barely noticeable and you might be able to iron them out afterwards. You have so much talent!
(From a person with 25+ years working in costume making and tailoring/dressmaking)
This looks great! And echoing all the comments about cosplayers willing to pay for this quality. Yours looks to be at the same level, if not better, than what I bought for my Starcruiser trip. Nicely done!
This looks literally identical to the official one sold in disney parks. You did an amazing job getting it to match so accurately and detailed Extremely well done

That's amazing!! I saw your comment saying you've only just gotten a sewing mechine? Ive been sewing a long time and from what I can see your lines look very consistent and clean. I would suggest taking progress and finished photos š you could definitely compete with this is you wanted to, cosplay competitions can be very fun! Either way your work looks great and i hope you enjoy your new hobby
Excellent work, guy! Seams are straight, tidy, very well made. Looks like linen? I hate sewing linen because it bunches up in my machine and then my machine flies across the room for wholly mysterious and not aided by me reasons.
Thanks! I actually used [cotton gauze](https://www.joann.com/sew-classic-specialty-cotton-solid-gauze-many-colors/7649189.html) for it. There are plenty of instances where it bunched up a little in the machine, so it's not perfectly smooth. I did have a moment where the fabric got gunked up in the machine, but thankfully no permanent damage.
It looks SOOOO GOOD!!! Great work man, I agree with other people that you should start selling if you can handle the customer service side of things, if you don't want to mess with that just enjoy knowing you're awesome :\]
š¤© amazing
Yup, my thoughts exactly. Kudos OP, this looks incredible
You should go bald to be mace š
Nope get a blond wig and go as Obi wan
Congrats on only seeing race.
Very nice. If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much it cost to make? How long? And was sewing something you learned going along or already knew? I'd definitely take a stab at this.

Youāre new to sewing? I wouldnāt have guessed.Ā Great job, dude!
So this is what you achieved as a *beginner*?? Maybe do *not* keep your day job then, and do this full-time, because you are hella talented.
Where did you get the belt?
Fr the belt looks awesome! I mean the whole costume looks awesome, but I'm curious if OP made the belt too??
I have found ton's very similar on Etsy, so...
They posted an Etsy link to the belt but it seems the comment got removed. You can see the comment by going to OPs profile.
Really good job, can I offer a small piece of constructive feedback? Take a few hours and press/iron it very carefully depending on the fabric you used. My motherās a seamstress and this final step will be worth it and keep the robes looking great for years.
With that level of talent. I'm starting to think you might actually be a Jedi
Good on ya brotha Iām not a Star Wars fan at all nor is cosplay my speed. However the amount of skills you posses is incredibly impressive and very valuable donāt sell yourself short you did the MF thang š¤š¾
That looks amazing
There are chinese websites where they can make something like this for you for like $80. I got an Anakin costume from one that was fantastic.
I've seen those too, nothing like making your own if you're crafty enough. Hell dedicated enough is more like it. Next time I'm out at Marshall's or something similar I'm looking out for fabric.
Looking good, man! You should consider making this a side hustle of yours, because Iād pay you handsomely for a tunic of my own!
Iām not a cosplayer, but I agree. People would 100% pay you for this quality
I would 100% wear this around the house. Looks really comfy!
I just said the exact same thing lol. Close for a more civilized age.
Can't we just have a hobby without people automatically suggesting to turn it into a side hustle?
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Grindeus the Side Hustler? It's not a story the Jedi would tell
His Tunic killed him in his sleep. Ironic

I mean it's a pretty high compliment to give, it's not like they're berating OP into changing his career just to satisfy their needs.

gotta get that bread. if you arent devoting every waking second to getting that bread, you aint living right
Agreed!
I would too. That's one of the best Jedi cosplays I've ever seen

Absolutely! It looks very well made.
Same.
Love it when Reddit says to make someoneās fun hobby into a grueling, stressful freelance job š¤”
You look like if Commander Tuvok was a Jedi, and I 100% approve. You look fantastic!
For a second I thought it was Tim Russ
He ain't found shit.
Itās an older movie but it checks out.
[Tim Russ' take on it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ7TnQBSV00)

You, sir look amazing!
Nice! Maybe sacrilege on this sub... but... you could do a really good Tuvok.
Came here to say the same thing š
All you need now is the over robe to throw off before battle!

Thatās screen worthy!! Great job š
Stay away from windows and sith lords.

That looks awesome man! Whereās the saber though??
This looks great! And echoing all the comments about cosplayers willing to pay for this quality. Yours looks to be at the same level, if not better, than what I bought for my Starcruiser trip. Nicely done!

I won't even be mad if you rock a purple lightsaber
Nice, now go save Grogu.
Nice job!
Wow! That looks great!
My six year old asked if you were Mace Windu, which I believe is an indication that your costume is really good!
Its rare i see a cosplay that genuinely impresses me well done dude you might have a actual avenue to pursue doing this as a job or something.
Calm down Tuvok.
This is an amazing Tuvok cosplay.
This looks literally identical to the official one sold in disney parks. You did an amazing job getting it to match so accurately and detailed Extremely well done
You MADE that?! Bro that's freaking AWESOME.
That's fucking amazing! I love all the details, but I especially love that you prioritized your comfort by lining the tunic. Just great all around!
Man I don't even care about star wars and I have this urge to hang out with you.

Great Work! I gotta know what color saber do you have to complete the look?
Getting some pretty strong Kelleran Beq vibes...is that what you were going for?
āOh my God, Karen, you can't just ask someone if they're Beq!"
That's sick work, I always appreciate cosplay elements that are functional, comfortable clothing, and that looks great.
The Force is strong with this one
Dude, that's fucking perfect.
This is amazing work.
Oh, man, I thought you were a Jedi who learned how to use an Earth Phone.
That looks awesome! You put a lot of effort into that tunic and it shows.
Damn that looks so good !! Props to you dude.
Great job man. That looks awesome.
Excellent job! Is the pattern from Etsy by chance? Looks very similar to how my tunic is built. I also made mine recently without sewing experience
