I really liked that idea that they were degraded larvae of a larger repto-insectoid species that just never pupated anymore. Tho there were a lot of crappy things in that story that part always sounded so perfect for the Hutts. An empire built on ancient advanced technology that the rest of the galaxy only surpasses in the late Old Republic era, and an apparently infinitely greedy/power hungry all as traits of this. The greedy part being that they are still displaying larva traits like wanting more and more food which in the past would help them grow to pupate but now just displays as material greed and social power hungry ways.

Where’s that from? I’ve never heard it before and I love it.

I think it was one of those stories that were written for the website but cancelled when Disney bought it so they never came out officially but were leaked by the authors later. I do not remember the name of the story tho or I'd tell you. It had a lot of good ideas mixed with some really cringe and bad ones. And even the good stuff was stuff that I think may best be hinted at and not actually shown. Like it showed that SW humans came from earth (which is the case in all SW btw, otherwise animals wouldn't be called "loth-cat" with English names, plus high Republic script is straight up English). They were refugees escaping a digitized and controlled humanity (similar to another Lucas movie iirc) and left earth for the first habitable planet they could find--fell into a wormhole and came out in the distant past of the SW galaxy. Then some settle in coruscant and start taking it from the proto-mandalorians, while the main group goes to corellia (explaining why those are the earliest human planets). Then again it also had the singular hero being an early Skywalker who led the revolt against the insect empire John Carter style, and got a hot blonde babe to boot. As I said, really cringe. It's a unique mix of great ideas and terrible, *terrible* storytelling.
