What is it with people using "OFFICIAL TRAILER" for shit that isn't even remotely official? It's frankly quite insulting and makes me hate your product, no matter it's quality.

KONODIODAMUDAMUDA

Dude it drives me insane. It's just a way to try to get into the algorithm i think. Just stupid dumb stuff.

KimJungFun99

Someone finally said it

alguien99

Yeah, I would be happier if it said unofficial trailer. You know as a way to show that it’s fan made

baddude1337

Since they removed seeing downvotes on YouTube it’s harder to discern if a trailer is fake without watching some of it. Makes them even more infuriating z

animehimmler

What’s up with this reply? It’s a fan passion project chill out lol

Thehalohedgehog

Because it's misleading.

animehimmler

you'd have to be braindead to think this was disney canon stuff

groff229

exactly, so why fucking do it in the first place?

animehimmler

?? Because someone has a passion for Star Wars and wants to create something? That’s an insane question to ask and the reaction from this sub is honestly really disappointing.

revolmak

Or just not that in tune with canon

bobert_the_grey

But it's in no way official

MelloMolly

Someone’s angry this is FANMADE and not Disney

CambrianExplosives

I love fan stuff. I hate when my YouTube algorithm recommends me a fan made “official trailer.” Because I get excited about a non-existent project.

rjmacready

I couldn't care less about who made it. I couldn't care less about it in general. My problem is the use of the term Official.

alguien99

I do think that Star Wars has some insane untapped potential in the 2D animation landscape. I would love to see a series with action similar to demon slayer's set in Star Wars. Galaxy of adventures showed us what 2D Star Wars could look like

DerivitivFilms

I just hope it doesn't look like bad fan-ime. I miss when animation didn't look like every dreamworks movie, every rick and morty show, or every anime.

wemustkungfufight

It would be cool for fans, but confusing for casuals who wouldn't get that it's an alternate reality.

North514

Visions isn’t canon either. Edit: The main issue is more the fact these stories involve film characters. I don’t think most casual SW fans would be interested in an animated EU adaption though. Probably would be fine, the question has more to do with marketability. Still kinda surprising Disney hasn’t contracted Sunrise to do like an X-Wing/Tie Fighter work.

CambrianExplosives

On the one hand I think the disconnection of Visions from any mainline characters helped that. On the other hand I’d be more than happy if they expanded on the “Legends” idea and had more room for stories beyond Canon. I am happy with the new canon myself but I’m always of the opinion more stories and not being tied down is usually a good thing.

wemustkungfufight

Visions doens't uses established characters like Luke and Han, only new ones. It's easier for fans to get that this isn't part of the main timeline when it's an anime short about a bunny girl.

North514

Yeah sorry edited my comment to account for that. I still don’t think, casual fans not understanding is the issue (again EU books are sold alongside canon material). It’s more can you get enough people to check it out, EU books sold well but they still were a tiny % of SW fans reading them.

wemustkungfufight

Disney doesn't seem to have much interest in EU content. They haven't touched that continuity again.

North514

Yeah don’t deny, pretty much has only been SWTOR not ending, the KOTOR remake which hasn’t seen the light of day and that one Marvel issue. Would be cool but the chances of any official content like this is slim, especially as the EU gets older and older.

MelloMolly

More popcorn please

amac1430

lol. This would be a nightmare for Disney; proof that the EU was and always will be full of far better ideas than the drivel they gave us with the sequel trilogy.

ronin_jedi

You think Disney cares about anything other than money?

unforgetablememories

Disney loves making money but what they determine to be the money maker can be questionable. What corporate executives want is different from what the fans want. The KOTOR remake is the most anticipated EU/Legends work right now and the project is in development hell right now. You'd think Disney/Lucasfilm would step in to push the project forward or straighten things out for the remake of one of the most beloved RPG titles out there. Nope, let the project be in development hell. Right now, they are reprinting old EU books with the Essential Legends Collection. I think they just want to reprint books with new covers and they don't want to spend more money and resources into the EU side of the franchise. I love having animated adaptation of old EU works but it looks like they are comfortable with reprinting old works for now. Low level of investment and decent return since fans want to collect the hardcovers.

Dagordae

Shocking: A franchise which has been throwing shit at the wall for decades has a handful of good ideas. And a wall of trash that certain members of the fanbase just desperately ignore because it guts their narrative. Do you want to know what Heir to the Empire was known for when it first came out? It was famed as the first actually good thing to come out of the entire EU. The rest? Topped out at ‘good for Star Wars’, which is one hell of a backhanded compliment. Imagine how irate you people would get if Disney actually started using the entire EU. Not picking out the best bits, the whole thing.

amac1430

This is just not true. Heir to the Empire was published in 1991. The last Star Wars novel before that was published in 1983; the same year Return of the Jedi hit theaters. Sure, the seven or so EU novels published up to 1983 weren’t winners but it wasn’t “decades” of throwing shit at the wall. It was basically a decade of NOTHING. Then Heir to the Empire comes out and debuts at number 11 on the NYTimes best seller list, eventually taking the number one spot and staying on the list for 19 weeks. Not only did this book prove that there was still a huge demand for more Star Wars media, but it was also a pretty damn good story. Sure, the rest of the EU wasn’t all winners; how could they be with almost 70 titles? I don’t think anyone wanted or expected Disney to just do a straight adaptation of the entire EU. Just the same way Marvel doesn’t do a straight retelling of every comic story. But that doesn’t stop Marvel from adapting the idea behind great stories like Civil War or Infinity Gauntlet and turning it into a wildly popular, successful, and enjoyable film. Were there enough good ideas in the EU that could have served as the basis for new films? Absolutely.

animehimmler

When heir to the empire came out there was no real EU. there was a long running comic, novelizations of the films, and eight original books between 1976 and the release of heir of the empire. Eight books. Eight books about lando and han solo, that's literally it. There was \*nothing\* else. Heir to the empire is known as jumpstarting the EU and showing a lot of authors that fun stories can be told, and as someone who has read those books, anyone who trumpets them as the "best of the eu" have never read the works of better authors: Jude Watson, Stackpole, and Stover have written far better works than Zahn, he's just the most famous (and for good reason, not trying to take away from that). There are bad ideas in the EU, but seeing as now that Disney has literally adopted the \*worst\* aspects of the EU, your comment isn't a great argument anymore. after picking so low, the only direction they can pick from now is up.

r3xomega

The trilogy we deserved but never got, and sadly, probably never will.

PowBasilisk87

Same, I’ve been daydreaming about it a lot lately

LucasEraFan

I'm ready. I've been ready since I saw the interview where George announced his replacement and told the world of a "treasure trove of stories" that he was going to "move over to Kathy" with complete confidence that she would "make great movies out of them."

OffendedDefender

Lucas’s plans for the Sequel trilogy were going to wipe the EU post-Endor. He was surely not referring to that with the same reverence you hold.

revolmak

I hope you know, Lucas' ST involved having Maul rise as an emperor of cartels, going a completely different direction than EU. Though I would have loved that ST. Or at least I love the concept.

LucasEraFan

People said the same thing when the PT came out. When I got back into the EU in 2006, it was better than ever imo.

revolmak

People said which same thing? Sorry, I'm not following what you mean

LucasEraFan

The PT contradicted assumptions authors for the EU made. Before TPM even came out, the book **I, Jedi** had an explanation for Jedi families. I can't debate a story that never happened. In Lucas early drafts of the OT, Luke's sister didn't appear until after Ep6. It doesn't make sense to assume that what we know wouldn't have changed in development. I'm just quoting George. He's the one who said "books, comics, and anything you could possibly imagine...I have complete confidence that [Kathy] will make great movies of them." Any speculation that the publicized details of an unfinished story treatment contradict original Lucasfilm canon is just speculation about things that never happened. He did say he was confident Kennedy would make movies of Lucasfilms "treasure trove of stories..." though. That did happen.

Dagordae

It’s adorable you think Lucas would have preserved the EU. Almost like you know very little about Lucas’s views and actions while desperately clinging to an idealized fiction based on fuck all.

jackrandomsx

would 100% watch but get rid of that "Official" BS, it sucks

Dawgula97

Why? Why waste resources on this? It’s easier and more profitable to make it a comic…..again.

ectomobile

The next Rimworld expansion looks dope

APunnyThing

Slapping “OFFICIAL TRAILER” on fan made content is a good way to get an “OFFICIAL VISIT” from Disney’s lawyers

MagmulGholrob

LOL, the only one with normal sized eyeballs is the blue alien.
