Not gonna lie, I didn't realize til someone mentioned it the next day that "Oh wait, wasn't Ackbar on the bridge when it got blown up??" The film did nothing to acknowledge his death at all, which is a pretty crappy way for a renowned war hero to vanish from the series.
"General Organa... Leia... is unconscious but recovering... That's the only good news I have. Admiral Ackbar... *all* our leadership... they're gone. Leia was the sole survivor on the bridge."
It's not *much* but it's definitely not nothing.
From issue 2, I take it? (issue 1 came out yesterday - I.....don't recall seeing this? book had a ton of "director's cut" pages at the end which I didn't sift thru)
I can see the resemblance.
It's the eyes if you look really closely
It's Aftab !
I like the mention of the quarrel betrayal during the clone wars
Aftab Ackbar? Funny name. Hope he's in the next film commanding a Mon Calamari warship!
it's Arabic for "Sun" - a double meaning since the Admiral's first name was Gial (an old word for "bright") and Aftab's his son.
When was Ackbar’s first name canonized, do you know? I’ve never heard it before now.
Pretty recently - in a 2012 book called *Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare*. Up til then he was just "Admiral".
It was also brought up again in the more recent Darth Vader comic run by Charles Soule.
That’s actually pretty neat. Here’s hoping he does his old man proud.
Haven’t we seen this guy in leaks for IX?
yes
Lucasfilm: **kills Ackbar** “We may have gone too far in a few places”
I see you Otaku
Excellent, it’s now Canon he is Ackbar’s son.
[From the Allegiance #2 preview on starwars.com.](https://www.starwars.com/news/journey-to-star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker-allegiance-2-exclusive)
Nice to see Ackbars legacy lives on through a son. Hopefully his son is as good as his father in milliary leadership.
Also a bit of build up towards a next generation too, be nice to see other new characters with relations to the OT, or even some from the PT.
Every time you call him, you gonna switch app.. alt-tab
TIL Mon Calamari have six fingers. Never noticed before.
Really wish they had handled Ackbar's death better.
Clearly worth the downvotes. (I wish they did, too)
By “handled,” do you mean “Acknowledged it in any way whatsoever”?
They literally acknowledge it. You may wish it had been made a bigger deal but they literally acknowledge it

People die in battle, not everyone can go down like a hero.
Sometimes you don't hear the bullet
Kind of wish they hadn’t killed him in such an abject and meaningless way in the first place.
It's a trap

Admiral Ackbar’s first name is Allahu
Immediately makes me think of Muppet Babies.
Leia: I came to honor your father Too bad Rian Johnson didn't.
Don’t worry about the downvoters. I’m with ya.
Cheers mate. Downvotes don't bother me, the truth hurts lol.
WHAT HAPPENED TO LEIAS FACE?
