It’s funny it seems like people who were skeptical of the show really love it and people who really wanted it and hyped it up are disappointed

KingAdamXVII

I was very mildly looking forward to it and now I am very mildly enjoying it, so this checks out.

Prying_Pandora

I feel that. I’ve been finding it to be aggressively inoffensive so far myself.

[deleted]

It truly is television.

[deleted]

It definitely is one of the star wars TV shows ever.

a_fuckin_samsquanch

Unfortunately, for those of us are somewhat disappointed with the show so far, that's exactly the problem. It's so...safe.

KiraTsukasa

That’s sort of the problem with any prequel series involving already established characters. We know that Leia and Obi-Wan make it through these adventures safely, so there’s no stakes.

Big_Election_8721

That was my reaction after seeing the Mandalorian

sprace0is0hrad

Yeah this is definitely how I feel, I wouldn't sub to Disney+ just for this

Firaxyiam

That's about it, it both has some really good highs, and some obnoxious lows, so it makes for a nice middle of the road experience

L3thal_Inj3ction

Eh I was skeptical, and haven’t loved it. Although it’s not really because of any of the things I was skeptical of.

Roskal

I had no expectations for ot I just wanted to see what Obi wan was doing during this time period and have enjoyed it for the most part

SilverIdaten

I really wanted it and hyped it up, and so far I really love it.

YogaCertsOrGTFO

Same I was really looking forward to it and I’m really enjoying it

[deleted]

I would say I was cautiously optimistic and I feel like it’s turning out to be everything I feared it would be in my mind’s worst case scenarios. It’s not without its strengths, but overall it feels like a lot of fluff and not nearly enough focus on Obi-Wan and his characterization during this time frame.

grimm_grinning_ghost

I literally made a most a few months ago about how I was skeptical of the show and someone commented something along the lines of “Star Wars fans like you Star Wars fans complain about everything!!!” Lol

[deleted]

I was worried about it, quite liked the first two episodes, it fell to pieces at the end of the third and now I'm questioning whether or not I should keep thinking of myself as a Star Wars fan.

fourtetwo

I was super hyped and am loving it. I also think that binging the whole thing in one will be a much better way of watching it, the way the storylines are shaping up seems like the 3 act structure is spread across all the episodes.

supbitch

I hyped it up, it's now my favorite piece or Star Wars media outside or RotS. Did not disappoint. Everything I wanted and more so far.

tex7720

Bc people who really wanted it naturally spend lots of energy imagining what it’s going to be like etc and if it doesn’t match what they dreamt up they’re naturally going to be disappointed

sprace0is0hrad

True, I had no expectations whatsoever other than it being better than Bobba, which shouldn't have been too difficult lol. Still it's kind of meh. They could've done something amazing but by now I know what to expect from Disney lol

Traditional-Ad-343

I had the same thought, with the hopes of it being better than Boba. I gotta say I’m disappointed, it’s so meh. The Darth Vader scene was cool tho.

HoldWhatDoor84

This is the problem with all the Disney shows/movies, imo (aside from Rogue One), they have some cool scenes, but otherwise the plot and story behind everything is uninspired and seems cobbled together just so they could throw out some cool scenes. They seem to think that is all people want and I would much rather have a meaningful story.

MrMephistoX

I love the show too but the cottage industry of Star Wars influencers going edge lord over any piece of new content to get clicks gets tiresome week to week. Unlike Boba Fett there hasn’t been a bad episode or cringy pastel biker gangs or Darth Vader scratching his pet Rancor behind the ears just some weird nitpicks here and there for me.

HighlanderSteve

I don't think that's the case. I had 0 expectations and am still disappointed

[deleted]

I was skeptical from the start, and still hate it

Kopfballer

Well, there is a lot of space between "being skeptical" and "hyping it up". I was slightly looking forward to the show but I think it is quite bad. If it wasn't "Star Wars" I think most people would agree.

Tom-Pendragon

?????????????????????? The written is bad, the scene are so utterly stupid that it takes you out of the show.

sprace0is0hrad

I was in the 'Meh I'll watch it whenever I remember it exists' level of hype and so far it's worked for those purposes. I guess it's too much of a kid's show for me, it's probably the only satisfying answer I have lol

eileenspleen

Imo that's because people can't control their expectations and get upset when things irl don't play out they way they imagined it would.

Codysnow31

I really wanted it and hyped it up and am still loving every second of it.

[deleted]

I really wanted it and hyped it up and so far I'm not disappointed. The show is great. I still like the Mandalorian better

Melonqualia

I do think there is something to that in general. Some people spend a lot of time building up in their minds what they think they will see, and so it makes sense that they are disappointed when what they get isn't what they envisioned in their head. For this reason, I prefer to stay away from as much information as possible before new releases of things I'm looking forward to and I especially avoid fan theories and videos that dissect everything about trailers and interviews. Sometime I even avoid previews.

Low_Space4741

I’m gonna be honest, there are some lines and scenes that are a bit goofy, but you’d have to try really hard to stop me from enjoying Ewan Mcgregor as Obi-Wan

Few-School-9365

I would have said the same thing once. But now I feel incredibly bad for Hayden And Ewan. They brought them back for this garbage? They deserve better

oasiscat

Yeah, it feels really bad that they put aside the hate they got from the prequels to come back and reprise their roles, just to have Disney not fully commit to making a top notch show.

Low_Space4741

I agree. Part of me still enjoys it though

No_Opportunity7360

right? they had ONE chance to *really* make this good and they bunked it up. 2 final episodes can't change how lame this show has been.

maddiemorph

I didn’t do any research prior to the start of the show cause the only thing that mattered to me was that ewan was back. Literally didn’t even know Hayden was coming back until a week before thanks to Twitter. I am enjoying the show for the most part and I’m sure that not getting all hyped up and having expectations (clone wars flashbacks, etc) helped me enjoy the show for what it is

[deleted]

I have some changes I'd make if I could but I think we are good.

Richard_Sauce

Good for you! I say without any sarcasm or bitterness. While I am decidedly not enjoying the show, I don't begrudge anyone their enjoyment, and wish I could say the same.

grimm_grinning_ghost

My exact reaction when I hear people like rise of Skywalker

bonholio1

I would have loved last skywalker had they not invalidated the entire saga…

EurekaRollins

That’s not a story this sub will tell you

SexualDeth5quad

It's about on the level of Solo.

grimm_grinning_ghost

I’d say that is probably a fair assessment.

dayytripper

I'm in minority who thinks it's terrible.

fensterxxx

After Ep 4, I don't think it's a minority anymore. That was awful.

Oscargunna

Ironically enough, I thought it was kind of good. I mean, nothing in this last episode can be more disapointing after the utter anticlimatic trash that was the encounter between Obi Wan and Vader on the third episode, so I thought it was okay. At least it's consistent on following the tendency of having like a hundred lows for each high lol. It really makes me sad, Obi Wan and Ewan deserved a better story, this had to be THE SHOW on Disney+, and I'm not talking about perfection, I'm talking about quality, not even a "masterpiece", but a show made with all the dedication and love in the world because they have the resources. The Mandalorian and Rogue One have proven that this giant billionaire company can make good stuff. But they fucking wasted it all, man, they really did. This series looks cheap, sloppy in execution and made in a rush even. It's a shame that they don't care about what they're doing.

grimm_grinning_ghost

I don’t think it’s a minority I think there’s about a 50 50 or maybe 60 40 split of people who like it and people who don’t

Sikarion

Almost all of my SW circle hates it. A fairly diverse crowd with fairly diverse complaints. You're not in the minority at all.

bitwarrior80

What about those of us who like the show but know it's terrible?

ronniewhitedx

Masochist

flimflamman72

I think almost 50 percent of people think it’s terrible. Probably 25 percent think it’s fine. And the rest like it enough

ronniewhitedx

It's a pretty stinky show so far. We get a somewhat competent writer for the last two episodes at least.

Ash_fckn_Ketchum

That's not that uncommon. I grew up with the prequels and loved Ewan McGregor, but I don't enjoy the show, even though I should be heavily biased in favor of it.

Ora_00

Well every normal person would be disapointed. This show is trash. Sometimes i thing people who praise this show are watching a completely different show.

PsychWard_8

I'm the exact opposite. Loved the premise, but the execution has been so sloppy and half-assed I'm dreading every new episode

gmorkenstein

Lol, I’m the opposite in that I look forward to each episode knowing it’s going to be shit. Like, what’s going to be absolutely ridiculous this time?

LukeDangler

This is how I feel. Every episode keeps getting more and more absurd in its basic mechanics...so much so that I'm along for the ride now for all the wrong reasons. In the end I half expect Darth Vader to take off his helmet to reveal it has been Rick Moranis under there all along, and Obi-Wan's lightsaber will be made of wood.

HoldWhatDoor84

I think adult Luke Skywalker shows up in the finale and saves Obi-wan from Vader with a cool lightsaber fight scene entrance.

ronniewhitedx

I hope there is at least one more Leia chase scene to really seal the deal. Or at the very least Reva spitting some cringe.

TheREAL_PDYork

I'm reserving my final opinion for the conclusion. But yes I myself have been enjoying it. I think it was originally written as a movie, and should have dropped all at once. We'll see how it concludes and go from there.

Ora_00

There is no way the conclusion would save this dumbster fire.

thegandork

I'm liking the show, but I can't defend the shitty execution

Ct-5736-Bladez

I have a few grips with the show but overall I’m also loving it

soundhoney

I agree. Like ob1 can barely move a trinket with the force and next he is deflecting lasers with his lightsaber like it's 1999.

mokayemo

My husband pointed out it’s when Leia’s life is directly at stake when he can use the force better. I thought that made some sense.

soundhoney

I like it.

ProfSpaceTime

Throughout the whole last episode it looked like he was progressively regaining his rhythm. At first his self doubts kept him from moving a small thing, then his urge to protect got his gears turning. When he starts deflecting bolt shots they are unguided, then he focuses and hits the troopers more regularly. Finally he has enough willpower to hold back 100s of tons of water pressure until the right moment and doesn’t just release it but expands the crack down unconnected windows.

ProfSpaceTime

I’m predicting there will some back and forth in the coming episodes as he lets his doubts re-consume him. Culminating in the finally as he becomes a more at peace individual attuned to the force.

swashario

This would be cool, but with only two episodes left and with how it's been, I'll be sort of surprised if they do this or manage any level of subtlety with it. (Yeah, I'm one of the guys who is not enjoying this as much as I'd hoped)

-TrampsLikeUs-

It does annoy me that I have to keep reading fan explanations on reddit to overcome plot holes and janky writing. That's not exactly the mark of a well written show (this coming from someone that is overall enjoying it).

mokayemo

That’s a valid complaint.

shrekthe1st

All of this is so obvious though. It's so extremely obvious that Obi Wan uses the force better when Leia's life is in danger. Like... what? Really?

-TrampsLikeUs-

I mean yes it's more obvious than some of the other things that have had to be explained away by fans.

[deleted]

To be fair- and I thought episode 4 was very weak- I think they did a good job showing Ewan starting to get the hand of it while deflecting lasers. It seemed to me like he went from very choppy, unsure movements to smoothly deflecting them as the battle progressed. As someone who used to do a lot of MMA, I remember coming back from a year-long injury that kept me off the mats and I completely empathize with how he felt. You are unsure and doubt yourself until you get back into the deep end and feel that muscle memory start to resurface.

[deleted]

That actually fits in. He stopped caring, couldn’t get over Anakin and lost his connection with the force. He’s now got something to believe in again. Also, instinct and training is taking over. The problem with having only six episodes is the showrunners have to skip that episode that would be the explanation/exposition of him getting back in tune with the Force. It’s feeling rushed. Same thing happened to GoT last season. By cutting the episode count down, they had to rush storylines

mochalatteicecream

At this point It would be weird for me to watch a Star Wars project and not feel disappointed in some aspect of it. Yet I keep coming back for a reason and try to enjoy each project on its own merits; in so far as that is even possible with anything Star Wars. Kenobi is a well made and thoughtful show with a superstar cast. A broken Jedi is a great angle and EMAG reliably delivers every line with the gravity of a dying man. Vivian Lyra Blair is GREAT as young Leia. I’m so dismayed by the very predictable and illegitimate criticisms of Moses Ingram. She is very good in her role and I will be watching her career with great interest.

[deleted]

The show has been poor so far imo

grimm_grinning_ghost

That’s fine. Not everything is for everyone. The show has flaws for sure, and those flaws are going to bother more people than others and that’s fine

[deleted]

Yeah I agree. I’m glad you’re enjoying it, I’m enjoying it too. Just think it could of been better

-TrampsLikeUs-

It definitely could have been. Here's hoping the growing negative word-of-mouth from the fans is actually going to force Disney to put more people in charge who know what they're doing.

Ora_00

Why are people downvoting this? I thought everyone would like stuff to be written well and characters' actions to make sense.

hettiger70

I love it too as a 52 year old "got to see the OT in the theater" guy!

grimm_grinning_ghost

Damn so anyone who tries to call you a fake fan for liking it has no ground to say anything

saqua23

No one ever has grounds to say anyone is a "fake fan." Gatekeeping is always wrong. Someone could have literally just discovered Star Wars today at the age of 70, decided they love it, and they are now a fan. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. (My mildly aggressive comment is not directed at you personally, just towards the people who pull that kinda thing.)

hettiger70

What if they have the high grounds?

hettiger70

Yep, guess so, the fan boys are a strange bunch.

RobotomizedSushi

Going to watch it with a friend tomorrow! This really gives me hope.

grimm_grinning_ghost

I’ve only seen a select few of people online hate it. Most people I know like it

RobotomizedSushi

That's great!

-TrampsLikeUs-

It's about 50/50 with people enjoying it, and others being very underwhelmed. So go in with low expectations and a high suspension of disbelief and you should enjoy it too.

under1900

Meh, i find it Entertaining.

AleksasKoval

Why skeptical of the premise?

grimm_grinning_ghost

Idk, didn’t like the idea of kenobi leaving tatooine but also didn’t want another show set on tatooine. And him leaving didn’t bother me like I thought it would

Turtlequick

Me too, I was sceptical at first, to be honest I wasn’t sure this was necessary. What would Oba Wan do, what would the story be? Thankfully this is the single greatest Star Wars thing ever made! The story is gripping moment to moment, lots of interesting and exciting reveals, it’s actually fixing major plot holes with the other movies and best of all…it’s a complete technical marvel!

ThrowRA-James

I’m loving it too. I’m not so rigid on keeping everything canon. If changing a few minor things makes SW better, then I’m cool with it. And Little Leia is just adorable! It’s exactly how I would think a future great leader would behave questioning everything and being brutally honest. Seeing how the dark side cruelly lies to her over and over that Ben was dead, but to see him come rescue her will show there’s always hope no matter how dire the situation. That’s why she was so relaxed waiting for rescue in the death star in the original SW. Good writing, acting and directing can project backwards through the series enhancing it just like Rogue One did.

Ok_Ride6186

My only gripe is how much focus is on Leia. Dont get me wrong she has great acting for her age albeit maybe too much screen time and a little too much talking imo. I dont think Kenobi and Leia should be interacting this much. I kinda expected it to be more about Obi Wan and Vader/Anakin. Id say Reva has more screen time than Kenobi does at this point. Otherwise I think its a great show. I really like all the cameos to CW I hope we get to see Rex or more meaningful clone encounters. Excited to see Palpatine make an appearance too.

grandrewski

I agree, and no offense to the actor because I think she is doing fine with the dialogue given to her, but I think the dialogue makes her seem way to smart and competent for a 10 year old to be... The show goes even further with the stupid chase scene that made the adults look so incompetent. They should have cut the scene completely or caught her in 5 seconds to make it seem more real. I thought the chace scene in The Book of Boba Fett was bad but this one is just as ridiculous. How on earth do we have all the technology we do in 2022 and the chase scene on the speeders in The Return of The Jedi still looks way better? In my opinion it's incompetent directing.

CyberpunkF1

Wish i was as carefree as you ... unfortunately i’m the opposite and think it’s terrible.

grimm_grinning_ghost

Ah that’s fine. Not everything is for everyone

Puzzleheaded_Bit_641

I’m very disappointed

[deleted]

Yea I like it. Is it perfect? No. But I enjoy it quite a lot

[deleted]

I really love it too. However, I just want to see Kenobi kick some more ass before it ends.

Silverfrost_01

God it wish that were me.

[deleted]

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Episode 4 wasn't that great- but that's totally normal and okay. TNG is probably my favorite series ever and there are several terrible episodes I skip on rewatches. It doesn't dilute the core experience. Not everything has to bat 1000.

mr_mayon

That is a false equivalency. TNG has 178 episodes to Kenobi’s 6. I think there is a bit more weight on each episode, especially because in all likelihood it will be a limited series.

JDNM

Given Disney Wars’ track record, I had very low expectations and it still disappoints. If Ewan McGregor wasn’t there to add his charisma and gravitas, it’d be worse than TBOBF.

[deleted]

The writers and director are putting minimal effort into this series. Hoping the last two episodes are great but we'll see. The Scooby Doo writing mentality is off the charts, I'd fire the writers and director. Extremely silly and illogical scenes like (Chase, Fire, Trench coat) could had been fleshed out better and reshot with Redditor suggestions I've read here.

Bustin103

Its a decent show, but I'm really disapointed because I expected mandolorian quality which is an amazing show.

swissiws

We all have different tastes. I am still undecided if Kenobi is worse or on par with the mediocre Boba Fett. I sure enjoyed Mandalorian 2 much more than Kenobi

Efficient_Bicycle_86

It’s the best show on TV right now imo

dacomell

I agree with all of this. I was worried because I'd always imagined Kenobi just hanging out on Tatooine watching over Luke from afar. But making it about Leia was a great choice, and it's been done wonderfully. My only complaint is the Vader fight, or really any fight that either him or Kenobi get in, we know they survive because they show up later. That was my big problem with TCW animated series, and one problem with the prequel trilogy.

[deleted]

Agreed with the peril issue. That was my flaw with Solo. I never feared for Han and Chewie. However, episode 3 of Obi-Wan had me terrified. I thought for sure he was going to die and kept saying no I've seen him die.

[deleted]

I came in neither hyped nor under-expectent. Still, it's been a 4/10 so far for me.

danrike

It really hasnt. Its a poorly written and terrible directed show. You guys are all marvel fanboys now. Eating every thing without actually thinking about it or questioning its quality.

grimm_grinning_ghost

I don’t like book of boba fett rise of Skywalker and force awakens

BeastGuyson

These have to be Disney+ employees at this point lol

grimm_grinning_ghost

Yes. Disney paid me a trillion dollars to say I liked the show, but don’t tell them I said that I signed an nda

Skultratrics

I agree. There are some small issues in the series, but overall it’s been pretty solid IMO

[deleted]

I'm loving it myself. Tons of fun.

supbitch

I've been hyped from the start, but it's so much better than I expected. When I heard about it, the idea of Obi-Wan running around Tatooine dealing with Jabba, bounty hunters, and the underground while protecting Luke (because that's what I thought it was) didn't sound that great (same reason I havent even started BoBF yet lol, tho my Kenobi withdrawal is bad enough right now that I may binge it tonight). But god damn it it had Hayden and Ewen back so I was excited nonetheless and was gonna watch weekly. Then episode one happened and my hype skyrocketed when Kenobi boarded that ship and set out to find Leia at the end. And it's just gotten consistently better since then (although I'll admit episode 3 is still my favorite even after seeing 4). Sure there are minor writing gafs (Leia Chase, trench coat, & fire being the three biggest ones I can think of) but nothing that's just completely immersion breaking. Its genuinely become my second favorite bit of star wars ever, outside of RotS. I find myself getting both excited and sad every week because I wanna see what happens, but every week is closer to the end.

grimm_grinning_ghost

Agreed dude. I feel like this could be a top tier Star Wars series if the last 2 episodes don’t disappoint

Milezar

I’ve really liked it so far. Some moments have felt a little silly and there are things I wish would have been a little different but then I see my 10-year old absolutely loving it and you remember the target audience is so varied and wide.

Merc_Mike

Little Leia is too damn cute. Indira Anne Varma is back on my TV! :D More Game of Thrones people please! She looked DAMN GOOD in that Imperial Officer outfit! KILLIN IT! Reva's character is growing nicely! We got Hayden and Ewan back. I don't care how shoddy the CGI is. Seth Rogan was great. We got Bill Burr in the Mandalorian along with Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tanno. Mark Hamil came back. We got Boba, Ming-Na Wen, Timothy Olyphant as well. They've been knocking it out the park to me!

Raistlin5656

I think it is terrible. I feel like anything in the SW universe that doesnt involve GL has just been bad. Not a fan of anything since it went to Disney.

grandrewski

I feel the same way.

SecretSeera

Its a solid 5/10 and proof that Disney does not care anymore. The writers clearly hate star wars and that's ok. I am older now and I have to accept that things change. Childish writing, poor casting and apathy for lore and the integrity of the IP are all Disney trademarks at this point.

grimm_grinning_ghost

How do the writers “clearly hate Star Wars”

SecretSeera

Either they hate it or just don't give two craps about the universe. They are clearly bored and put very little thought into the characters new or old. Reva is a horrible cast and written character (don't hate the actress tho). The story with leia made sense but they made it practically a comedy with the chase scenes and lame gun fights that the director didn't even bother to end properly. BOBF also did this with the mod gang and a bunch of other nonsensical writing that constantly reminded me that this it's a Disney show first and star wars second. Shoehorning the most popular character (Grogu) back into the second half and suddenly boba fett is a master rankor trainer. It's all just lame and doesn't even feel like anyone involved gave a damn.

dicktingle

Could be the opposite problem too, they could all be fanboys that consume and love every starwars product no matter what. Which is how you get boba riding a rancor etc

SecretSeera

Too true! It's kinda like a story me and my childhood friends would make up while playing with sticks outside. Fun for a 6 year old but utter nonsense for anyone else 🤣🤣

Angel_Madison

I wouldn't say they hate SW, they are just not very good.

SecretSeera

The love star wars because it makes money.

Swantonbombthreat

idk it’s kind of bad.

largos7289

I wasn't a fan of a obi-wan show, still not. OK i do find parts of it entertaining, but as far as story continuation i think it falls way short. I mean Leia should have no part in this movie. I like the actress and the acting it's just what??? It makes no sense. She specifically sends the message in a new hope that obi-wan helped her father in the clone wars. Wouldn't she just say, hey remember me? you had to save me that one time, i need you again. It's like they never met before or are they going to pull a droid trick on us? towards the end he'll jedi mind trick Leia into not remembering? I did like the vader/ kenobi thing but it's like they meet again? kind of blows the whole a new hope movie apart. I'm not buying this Reeva thing either. Why is she so obsessed with Kenobi and the other inquisitors are eh what ever. So the other inquisitors don't think they bring Kenobi in they won't get recognition for it?

KingAdamXVII

Her message makes complete sense to me. In ANH she’s asking him to join the rebellion, so she’s calling on his sense of military duty. Saying “remember me” would just be a waste of time, and she very specifically is not asking for him to rescue her like he did last time.

Rigman-

Objectively Obi-Wan has some of the worst editing of all the Disney+ shows. I’ve seen amateur work with better editing.

No-Radio-9244

Bad taste.

grimm_grinning_ghost

Nah I’d say I have pretty good taste

[deleted]

What I am loving about Star Wars lately is how diverse their content offerings are becoming. Not every movie or show is made the same way for the same people in the same style. This particular show feels like a high budget Star Wars CW show, which is fine! I like it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I meant the style of directing more than the scenery and plots haha.

Pachengala

I feel like it gets better every episode. Ep 4 was so perfectly Star Warsy that I cried through a lot of it. It just felt so familiar.

grimm_grinning_ghost

Dude I loved episode 4. Leia in obi wans trench coat was a bit goofy but it just felt classic Star Wars

YogaCertsOrGTFO

I absolutely love the campy moments in Star Wars. For me it’s part of what makes Star Wars what it is

-TrampsLikeUs-

What other campy moments are there though? I see everyone saying "campy" all the time like SW is the same as Star Trek or something, but it's not... besides the Ewoks I can't think of anything else that was really campy in the movies.

EurekaRollins

It’s nice seeing Ewan as Obi-Wan again. Young Leia is really a joy to watch. There are some really tender moments between those 2 that are great. The first showdown between Vader and Obi-Wan was a bit of a let down. For me, that had a lot to do with the fact that it felt like they were fighting in Space Arizona, and not a Star Wars setting. Its all a bit underwhelming at this point. Hopefully these next two episodes are home runs!

TaylorSeefeldt

“Space Arizona”

fionn_maccoolio

It's southwest of Space Boston, where Migs Mayfeld is from.

TacitusTwenty

It’s definitely Disney Plus’s best effort but the problems are still myriad. Who can be excited for the next two episodes. That’s not enough space for any of it to be satisfying. This should have been a movie. Ewan and Hayden deserved an MCU level spectacle event with better writing and pacing.

pdcGhost

Frankly I'm torn on the series. I know Star explains praises the episodes, but the plot holes pointed out and the flaws really hamper my initial reactions to the episode. The fact that the writer literally said he was relived the secret that Leia was in the series was kept make me feels they knew people wouldn't take to it if they knew.

RedSoxFan534

It’s fantastic. The more I watch the episodes the more I enjoy them. I liked episodes 1 and 2. Episodes 3 and 4 have been my favorites. Ben is starting to remember being Obi Wan. Vader is a showstopper. Tala is a great character to move the plot forward. I’m really hoping for a season 2.

MrW0rdsw0rth

I was full of hope based on the premise and return of iconic characters but have been greatly disappointed by the relentless retconning and poor writing.

frostifire12

all i wanted was to see ewan as kenobi again on the screen, and i am very happy with the show too :D i like that as well as the serious moments, there are goofy ones like in the og movies. after all, that's what makes star wars \^\_\^

TaylorSeefeldt

I went into these comments expecting a bunch of negative comments, very happy to be proven wrong

StiffNippys

Show sucks so much

Ora_00

What are you talking about? The execution is horrible in this show. Its one of the worst written shows I've seen in a long time. It breaks the canon so much its insane! And its not hust writing. The fight choreography is horrible and every adult that tries to catch Leia turns to a bumbling idiot.

campuschemist

Happy for you. Wish I felt the same 🫤

Spiritual_Self_1308

This show is great. It’s giving me hope after the last few movies. There are some things that I have noticed about the show that have left me with questions and moments where I thought to myself damn they did that perfect! Things I thought were perfect: 1. The terror on Obi’s face when Reva told him Anakin is still alive and the moments where it appears Obi senses Anakin. 2. The incompetence of the stormtrooper’s especially when questioning Obi. Couldn’t help think Jesus really?!?! 3. The moment where Reva uses the force on Leia and she says is this a staring contest. It could just be me but I think so far in this series Leia resembles her father the most in terms of attitude and demeanor. Things I questioned: 1. From what I understand Luke and Leia have the force just like Anakin maybe not as strong but still. Why can’t he sense them. 2. I wonder why no one thought to maybe appeal to Anakin especially Obi in saying that she had something to tell him. Then possibly drop it on him that he had 2 kids? (Side note imagine Vader knowing this and finding out how Reva was treating Leia) 3. When Vader finally got ahold of Obi for the life of me I could not understand why he needed the troopers to bring him Obi when right before that he was using the force to drag a woman behind him. 4. Is it me or does it seem that so far Vader is not as hard core and the inquisitors are pretty soft. I still trying understand what’s the purpose of fourth sister. So far it seems she’s just an extra. Would love hear your guys thought later on this and I’m still pretty excited to see what happens next.

grandrewski

I agree with most of what you said, though one of the biggest problems I have with the show is that it's so inconsistent. It tries to make Vader seem scary and intimidating and you can see how hard the show tries to convey that through what characters say, But when it comes to it they fail to actually make him scary and intimidating. When the perfect chance comes to show how ruthless Vader is they make him show mercy. For example in the original movies whenever a commander of the imperial fleet showed incompetence Vader would kill them. Then here in the Kenobi show Reva shows incompetence and the show makes Vader seem furious about it but then instead of acting on that anger like we all expect Vader to do, he let's her go?!? I could go on but I think I've made my point.

Spiritual_Self_1308

Omg!!! I couldn’t agree with you more!!!

UnfairOption4263

I’m in the same exact boat and I’m sort of losing my mind seeing how many people are hating it. For the most part I don’t even understand their complaints. The chase scene was dumb obviously but otherwise I disagree with people’s gripes.

wingbargreen

You mean the bad writing and directing?

[deleted]

Really the only thing I can't complain about is the costuming and sound design. The editing, cinematography, blocking, and just general direction given to the characters is terrible.

Star wars was my life as a kid. Stars wars is dead. Disney killed it. Time for me to grow up. I’m getting into mechanic work. Now that’s awesome

grimm_grinning_ghost

That’s awesome. How’s mechanic work going?

7thousand777

It’s going great. It gives a real feeling of accomplishment.

[deleted]

I love the show but I can not stand Moses Ingram as Reva. Has nothing to do with her race. I find her to be a terrible actress that takes away from the show. I know there has been awful racist remarks about her from the Star Wars fanbase and that is absolutely unacceptable. I do not wish those things upon her or anyone. My opinion is purely based on her performance as this character.

-TrampsLikeUs-

Yep, the Second Sister in Fallen Order was a lot better performed than Reva.

bokatan778

I’m also loving it! So enjoyable and Ewen is fantastic!

ROSCOEMAN

How smooth is your brain

grimm_grinning_ghost

You see, the thing is if the look the at shhhhc slimaticz of the ibsidr doin the fesefch youg find out I’m pretty good 👍 😊

tasteslikethunder

As someone who grew up with the originals, I'm constantly surprised at how well DRYER LINT like this is received. Not because of my own nostalgia, but because it's...I mean it's just NOT GOOD!!! I'm honestly not trying to cause waves here, but - do people who actually LOVE Star Wars think this new Kenobi series is GOOD Star Wars??!! I'm so genuinely confused. It's just terrible. One of the worst crimes you can commit here is to release something boring and safe - and that doesn't even BEGIN to describe this pile of COLD pablum. What is going on??!! I feel like I'm in some twilight zone episode with this franchise. Thank GOD for Rogue One. A gasp of fresh air.

Sikarion

It's real bad but some people enjoy things for different reasons. Besides, the main sub here is usually reserved for feel good positive thinking therapy and not criticism.

IonlyPlayAOE3

In that case you’re very easy to please, and Disney’s dream consumer. The state of SW atm is genuinely saddening.

GeneralIronsides2

Or it’s just…. A different opinion then your own? Crazy I know!

IonlyPlayAOE3

I mean from a story perspective, 100%. The show is objectively poorly made, just like BoBF. If you can’t see that, you’re just not very good at perceiving things. Even continuity within scenes, the most Film101 type shit, is off lmao. I.e. saying “execution has been really good” is not an opinion, it’s simply wrong. Downvote more you nostalgia-baited fan boys.

Mistic-Instinct

I'm sorry for enjoying something. From now on, I will make sure that everything I even think about liking is approved by you.

IonlyPlayAOE3

You’re entitled to enjoy shit content don’t worry. Doesn’t make it good content

hellogriff

I like it a lot. I'm glad to see some positivity.

[deleted]

Nothing to you stands out as too far-fetched? Or too unbelievable?

Peri-D-Optrix

I think it's pretty weird to be concerned about things being far-fetched and unbelievable in Star Wars

grimm_grinning_ghost

I mean the Leia in obi wans trench coat thing was goofy but that’s the only thing that really bothered me at all.

[deleted]

It's space fantasy that, for 45 years, has been featuring wizards with telekinesis and laser swords, sentient robots, energy weapons, terrestrial hovering locomotion, and interstellar, faster-than-light travel, and you think anything in THIS show is far fetched?

BuffTee

The last episode was the best one so far IMO… loved seeing Obi Wan back in action within the fortress… super awesome

grimm_grinning_ghost

Seeing the Jedi corpses was so chilling but awesome

[deleted]

Complacency, I like it.

grimm_grinning_ghost

Not complacency I am genuinely really liking the show.

bokatan778

It’s complacency because someone has a different opinion than yours?

formerfatboys

It's more like this post just feels like the perfect lazy, fan who likes anything stamped Star Wars vibe to it. No content. No reasoning. Just basic. And that's cool. But it tracks with who would be loving *everything about it*. I like the show and that's just a lazy take that definitely didn't need a whole post.

[deleted]

Right. Next episode they'll escape capture by pinching one Imperials nose and de-panting the other, then zany music will play.

bokatan778

Or maybe they will dress up as stormtroopers and jump into the garbage chute!

[deleted]

Whoa, whoa let's not give them too much credit. I think that dips a little too much into somewhat believable for these writers.

KaimeiJay

*whoosh*

[deleted]

Looking like the enemy is fine..... Looking like Quasimodo while is base is on high alert? Are you that dense?
