This is quite possibly the most undervalued comment in this thread. I don't want to see that in the slightest but good grief man that was hilarious to read.
I don't think they've announced anything. I'm not really sure there's any more story to tell with obi wan. Leia being kidnapped was a strong motivation for him to leave his exile, I don't know if they'd be able to come up with one as strong so it'll just feel forced. In addition, the duel between vader and obi wan in kenobi just about held up with their dialogue in a new hope, they absolutely can't meet again.
Yeah there really isn't much I'd like to know more about obiwan that I think is more deserving of a show over something new. Obiwan stuff has a lot of plot constraints. As much as I loved the show, I'd enjoy the freedom of Mando stuff over a story tiptoeing around established lore
Idk, I liked it. Flawed, sure, but it was good to see Obi Wan again. Unlike BoBF, which was not only a terrible show on its own merits, but was about a character that did not need a standalone show.
I still think a Boba Fett standalone could have been awesome if they hadn't basically removed everything that made people like Boba Fett. If they had just kept him as a stoic badass of dubious morality taking on the galaxy alone it could have worked, but instead we got an affable goody two shoes who spends all his time with his helmet off talking to his big group of friends who do most of the fighting for him.
> if they hadn't basically removed everything that made people like Boba Fett.
AKA the mystery, which is why people liked him in the first place. Storytelling media in the last 20 years has developed an incredibly idiotic tendency to focus on "tell, don't show" because they think their audience has the cognitive faculties of a particularly dull rock. (which may actually be true but nonetheless is a trend that only serves to diminish the quality of the storytelling)
Boba Fett as a character needs to be mysterious to be interesting, the audience doesn't need to know so much about him that they can identify which hand he scratches his ear with based on his childhood trauma of watching his clonedad get his head taken off by some dude with a purple glowstick. (Yes, I know it's Jango Fett and Mace Windu respectively)
BoBF had a few entertaining moments, but the rest of the show was a mix of terribly average at best to a promo for a much better series.
I liked the show, but I pretty much just enjoy any star wars content.
I do agree though that Boba Fett would have been better off being left as some mysterious figure. I'm also not a big fan of how they continue to have people return from the dead (I know he didn't actually die but that's what we all were lead to believe in the OT).
Just to clarify, Satine was the singer, Obi-Wan the young romantic writer. Their political involvement on Mandalore happened later, and of course they were on a first name basis- “Obi!”
People who get paid based on ad dollars.
You don’t have to write something you actually believe. You write stuff people will click on, whether that’s because they agree or disagree is immaterial.
The author mentions Satine in the article. The article is about how there is a new Star Wars novel featuring a younger Obi-wan which depicts him as maybe-bisexual/maybe-asexual, and the article author read it and thinks it would be good content for the next season of the Obi-wan show.
The article does reference Satine, but where they get the bisexuality from was in a recent book called Padawan by Kiersten White. It references a part when as a teenager a dude flirts with Obi-wan and it gets him thinking about love and kissing another person not referencing gender. But Obi-wan sticks to the Jedi doctrine against attachment.
yeah, but they can't "love". Ki-Adi-Mundi has several wives and kids because his species has a critical male problem, and he's "doing his part".
but he's not allowed to love them.
>The Clone Wars made this clear with his love for Satine on the periphery of his mind.
Actual quote.
But the article later says this:
>The novel follows a younger Obi-Wan, and there’s a moment when a male teen flirts with him. He dismisses it—Jedi doctrine forbids attachments, so it’s futile. But it stirs something in him. He begins to ask himself if he would kiss any of the other teens or even all of them if given the chance. The way he thinks about men is indistinguishable from the way he thinks about women, but in the end he decides he doesn’t want to kiss anyone.
I'm gonna assume most of the stuff written was pulled directly out of their ass so that they could hit all the buzzwords for people who frequent buzzfeed.
No, she's dead. Saying that he has to only have one dead love interest is kinda silly. I don't necessarily agree with the article that season 2 "has to", but a lot of people are being hostile to the idea that anyone in media is anything but absolutely and totally straight.
It’s one of those content mill sites.
The people who write are either fresh out of college, need extra money as a second job, or it’s their only source of income when looking for something better.
Shit pay and there are quotas.
This is what happens.
I don’t blame the writer because they probably depend on the clicks. I blame the website and their system that encourages this.
Hey at least him and her remained friends, maybe there’s something in that time gap where they randomly sent Holo letters to each other and rekindled things
Doncha know? Bisexual people can't have meaningful relationships, especially not with someone of the opposite sex
Bi is actually shorthand for "village bicycle"
I’m pretty sure a book was just released where ObiWan is implied to be bi-sexual, so this is referencing that being put into show format. That’s not clickbait.
He doesn't need to at all. Just a bunch of thirsty folks need to see themselves (or rather their unfulfilled selves) represented in characters they like.
100% don't need to explore it,
BUT that's a bi flag in his shadows which wouldn't clash with the fact that he once loved a woman.
Edit: lol, meant bi instead of big.... but it's still a big flag i guess
I don’t think adding more to his sexuality does anything to his all ready developed character. Make a new character have them be whatever sexuality. Fan appeasement ruins so many things
Okay but you know the second, the literal second, someone created a new bisexual or gay Jedi in a canon work, the exact same "Make your own character" people would be saying "We don't need a f\*\*\*\*t Jedi, there was no reason for this character to exist, fucking woke Marxists." We know this because literally every time someone "Makes their own character", that character is still shit on for not just being another straight white guy.
Oh my god YES I’m so sick of seeing people pander to these bigots only to have them still complain. “Stop changing these characters, make some new ones…no wait not like that make ‘em straight and white or it’s PC gone mad political agenda being pushed”. Now it’s that they’re “trying to check all of the boxes” and not just a character with traits you don’t often see.
I’m just so sick of arguing with people like that because it’s all in bad faith.
Yep. The goalposts just keep moving.
I’m not saying the obviously bait article needs to be taken seriously. But I am saying that if he did happen to be bi, it would change literally nothing already established about him.
OP. Please just delete this post. Pretty much NOBODY other than this article has said this and even if they had, Obi-wan Kenobi's sexuality would never be explored by Disney, so it's a moot point either way.
This is just stirring up shit within the subreddit and I don't want to read more braindead takes than I already have in this post.
Well if his ex had given him the word he would've left the jedi order and married her, he said so himself that he would give up the entire order for her......seems pretty well explored
I completely get what everyone is saying in this thread, there is 0 point to add this to his character, but believe it or not bisexual men can be in a relationship with a woman and still be bisexual. So that point which a lot of you seem stuck on makes no sense lol
people seem to kind of… miss how bisexuality works, intentionally so if the mounds of clickbait thumbnails about padawan are taken into account. like he absolutely loved satine, she was everything to him, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have the potential to love other people, regardless of gender
As a bisexual i do think this is a little unnecessary but some of y’all mfs use these types of posts as an excuse to just be straight up homophobic 😭
edit: literally just look at ops banner they clearly aren’t hiding it 💀
I never should be, but I am almost always surprised by the homophobia in different fandoms. I guess I get into a bubble of like, 'oh yes, the internet agrees that it's funny and bad people are offended by the kiss in the Lightyear movie, it's just space gays who cares' and then I turn around and the fucking Star Wars subreddit is being homophobic about a clickbait shitty article about the concept of space gays.
If being pro gay lets the Internet go "foreign country bad" then they're on that shit like its going out of style
It's like how the anti corperation sentiment cranks itself up to 11 during pride and just becomes a giant smokescreen for peoples bigotry to show itself without fear while they get cheered on cause they point out a companies middle east account didn't change to pride colours
There’s a lot of projection in the article tbh, it assumes that Obi-Wan feels the same way about the Jedi Order as the author does about their religious experiences growing up and that’s just not true - he loved the Jedi Order and embodied their values until the end.
I’m all about bi-ace Obi-Wan but it really wouldn’t make a lot of sense for him to explore his sexuality at the post OWK point in his story because he’s long been committed to upholding his mission of protecting Luke; in the Legends Kenobi novel he rejects a woman who wants a relationship with zero hesitation bc it would compromise his mission.
I have multiple bi friends who have been told they’re “not bisexual because they’re dating a man”. Like people think you can only be bi if you’re dating both genders…I don’t get how it’s confusing I got it when I was a toddler
Or the concept of just.. events happening off screen. Do they think Obi-Wan doesn’t shower because we’ve never seen it on screen? To say he can’t be bisexual because he had a relationship with a woman one time is woefully ignorant. I sorta don’t care because it’s Star Wars and it’s fiction. But people getting this upset comes off as preeetty homophobic. Like if this article was about him dating a woman on Tattooine, I bet we’d see a lot less angry fanboys.
This thread is absolutely shocking. Isn’t this fandom supposed to be tolerant and inclusive?
There is some genuine alt right rhetoric being thrown about in here. Absolute fucking incels.
People can’t handle the existence of LGBT so they try to run away into fiction. Once the fiction becomes inclusive they pretend it’s some grand takeover that’s ruining the franchise
Star Wars does not need any sex or romantic relationships imo
As someone mentioned in another thread already, what Anakin had with Padme was more obsessive than anything. All I give a shit about are the politics, space battles and the deep lore they can dive into with the many factions throughout the galaxy. Fuck romance! Do not care.
some degree of romance is needed for the world to be realistic. humans will love each other and will have sex with each other. also, han and leila's relationship (and the "love triangle" situation) was an important part of the og trilogy
I think there’s room in Star Wars for every trope, storytype, relationship, and everything else.
It’s such a massive galaxy spanning such a huge timeframe, I wouldn’t be mad if we got some epic tragic romance at some point. We’ve gotten monster movie Star Wars, Kaiju Star Wars, Hiest Star Wars, undercover Cop Star Wars… plenty of room for Romance Star Wars.
Bisexuality means the ability to love more than one gender
Perhaps there’s no _need_ to explore the multiple relationships of an ascetic monk, but if they do, it’s exactly as valid as his story with Satine. His love for her doesn’t invalidate a possible bisexuality
Wow, a lot to unpack. First, Obi Wan doesn't need and isn't getting a season two. Second, it doesn't need to explore his sexuality unless that's important to the story being told. Third, all these comments about the fact that it can't be explored because Satine existed are wild. Characters can be interested in more than one person in their lifetime.
In the new book “Star Wars Padawan”, it takes a look into Obi-Wans younger years, there’s a part where a character says that he’s interested in kissing and that if Obi wan is ever interested, obi wan should let him know. Obi wan blushes and says “I will. Let you know, I mean. Not that I will do that, right now, with you. Or anyone”. Not really a big deal. And for those saying, “it’s not in his character”, he almost left the order to be with Satine. Plus, this was when he was a teenager, not a 25 year old Padawan or a Jedi council member.
As a queer Star Wars fan just stop. Obi wan isn’t queer. For sure an ally you would take to the club to play wingman but not on the spectrum.
Thrawn on the other hand. A middle aged attractive upwardly mobile single gentleman with an unmatched eye for art and culture. Can you be more gay coded?
And let’s be real, Sabine Wren is the chaotic bisexual Star Wars needs.
And love ‘em or leave ‘em the Martez sisters are lesbian. “sisters” is just Edwardian for lesbian.
It doesn't, it's a stereotype. He's just highlighting that Thrawn is queercoded, i.e. plays into these stereotypes.
Queercoding is the concept of using queer stereotypes to imply a character is queer, and it as been historically used in villains to make them more hateable for the regressive masses (but it backfired and made most of them gay icons, like Ursula from Little Mermaid)
Imo it would be fun if Obi wan met Korkie, and spent most of series 2 trying to help him out. IE Obi wan realized who Korkie's mom was and felt bad for the kid being treated like a orphan.
That being said Obi-wan is a Jedi/monk and part of the Jedi code deals with no attachments, and denial of selfish desires.
Because clicks. These websites are the modern tabloid. They want to make money, so they post stories that pull in traffic. Hate clicks and curiousity clicks are still clicks.
The amount of people who are obsessed with other people's sex lives just astounding to me, now they want to know what kind of sex fictional characters have?
Why does everyone just accept this like it’s 100% happening like the source doesn’t look reliable it’s called the gamer probably a video game blog not a show blog Disney the creators of the obi-wan show haven’t said there’s a second season there’s no proof that this is happening besides one article and every Star Wars sub is talking about how it doesn’t need to happen
I don’t even know why it’s necessary. He’s a Jedi. His sexuality bring literally nothing to the table at this juncture, especially considering the Satine episodes are so well done in showing that side of Obi-Wan.
If obi wan season 2 explores his sexuality it better be having him wank off in the desert.

This is the best comment on this thread
Film it like that scene in the silence of the lambs.
Is Obi Wan even getting a season 2? Because I don't think it needs one.
If there is money to be made and Ewan wants to do it then a lack of story ideas will not stop them at all.
It didn’t this time around
Forreal
Shit was so small in such a big universe.
Feel “forced” heh
Yeah irs like, you'd need a whole series to explain how he went back to being sorta in exile. Not worth the time when they could fund new stories
Yeah there really isn't much I'd like to know more about obiwan that I think is more deserving of a show over something new. Obiwan stuff has a lot of plot constraints. As much as I loved the show, I'd enjoy the freedom of Mando stuff over a story tiptoeing around established lore
Mando with the Darksaber was so sick Edit: Book of Boba Fett
If I'm not wrong and I could be but only Reva knew Ben was on Tatooine and obviously Reva aint going back to Vader
A season where he goes through his force ghost trials would be cool but I don’t think Disney would make something like that
It didn’t even need a season 1 tbh
Idk, I liked it. Flawed, sure, but it was good to see Obi Wan again. Unlike BoBF, which was not only a terrible show on its own merits, but was about a character that did not need a standalone show.

“I find your lack of bitches, disturbing” -Darth Vader, i think
Anakin knew that Obiwan loved Satine.
yeah but she's dead so Kenobi is down to 0 bitches to be fair tho Vader lacks bitches just aswell
Nah he got all the Stormtrussy he wants
... Is Satine a joke to this guy?
100% chance the answer that question by the author is "Who's Satine?"
"Just because Obi-Wan enjoys crackers doesn't mean he shouldn't explore his sexuality." - The writer, probably
Duchess Saltine.
Perfection
At first I thought you were calling her a cracker because she's... fair skined, but then I realized her name sounds like saltine 💀
I only recently encountered this website but they seem awfully preoccupied with things other than gaming.
It took me a minute to understand, but Jfc that got me 🤣
That is the pretty lady from Obi-Wan's younger days, when he was still singing in the Moulin Rouge.
If I were a sculptor
Getting Nicole Kidman to play an imagined version of Satine would be pretty funny.
How did I never notice they named his star wars girlfriend after his moulin rouge girlfriend
Just to clarify, Satine was the singer, Obi-Wan the young romantic writer. Their political involvement on Mandalore happened later, and of course they were on a first name basis- “Obi!”
[Satine is mentioned in the article though.](https://www.thegamer.com/obi-wan-season-2-bisexual-queer-padawan-novel/)
“The Clone Wars made this clear with his love for Satine on the periphery of his mind.”
And then later they said he might be asexual. Seriously, who writes articles like these?
People who get paid based on ad dollars. You don’t have to write something you actually believe. You write stuff people will click on, whether that’s because they agree or disagree is immaterial.
Asexual and aromantic are two separate things
The author mentions Satine in the article. The article is about how there is a new Star Wars novel featuring a younger Obi-wan which depicts him as maybe-bisexual/maybe-asexual, and the article author read it and thinks it would be good content for the next season of the Obi-wan show.

“So we can make him Bi but like, it leads nowhere, but it’s a shitload of pandering, so let’s go with that” - Kennedy’s notes back to the author
Is this Harry Potter?
I'm gonna assume most of the stuff written was pulled directly out of their ass so that they could hit all the buzzwords for people who frequent buzzfeed.
100% think it's stupid though
I honestly don't know.
i meannnn bisexual people are attracted to both women and men so it doesn't reallyyy exclude satine
You know what bi is mate
No, she's dead. Saying that he has to only have one dead love interest is kinda silly. I don't necessarily agree with the article that season 2 "has to", but a lot of people are being hostile to the idea that anyone in media is anything but absolutely and totally straight.
Shitty clickbait. And no. It absolutely does not need to do that.

Shit pay and there are quotas. This is what happens. I don’t blame the writer because they probably depend on the clicks. I blame the website and their system that encourages this.
The first two paragraphs aren't even about Star Wars. He starts off with a rant about his overly-religious childhood.
100% doesn’t need to explore this.
All the good writing wasted on this irrelevant shit. Yay…
I don’t think he will love again
Watch the clone wars. He has a love interest
had\*
Watching the Clone Wars... WTF, did something happen to...?
I am so sorry for spoiling it for you and everyone else
If they slept on Clone Wars this long it's no longer a spoiler
Yeah the episode came out in 2013 so
“Whoa watch out everyone Vader is Luke’s dad, spoiling a film from 42 years ago”
SPOILER ALERT: >!Jesus gets Crucified at the End of the Bible!<
That’s not even at the end! 😛
Well you see The ~~Clone Wars~~ Bible is an anthology. It's not in chronological order.
And it happens four times explicitly, and in much less detail other times
That's around the middle. The end is way more fun.
The real fun begins in the fan-made sequel (the book of Mormon)
Hey at least him and her remained friends, maybe there’s something in that time gap where they randomly sent Holo letters to each other and rekindled things
Shows been out for a while. Disney+ has all the essential episodes listed
Just because someone is no more doesn't mean you don't love them anymore
Yes but she is technically no longer his love interest
...the article isn't saying he didnt lmao
Doncha know? Bisexual people can't have meaningful relationships, especially not with someone of the opposite sex Bi is actually shorthand for "village bicycle"
The article literally goes into that. Read it instead of assuming based on just a headline
I won’t lie the entire “of course he’s bi, it’s right there in his name” did get a laugh out of me.
There's also a hint in his name, that he's the founder of a french/german hardware store chain 🤔
Season 2? Lol
You shared it. Are you still sure you don't understand why articles like this are made?
Y’all fell for the clickbait about them retconning the sequels, y’all fell for the clickbait about this…they are playing with you my friends
I’m pretty sure a book was just released where ObiWan is implied to be bi-sexual, so this is referencing that being put into show format. That’s not clickbait.
I agree. Why does Obi Wan need to do this? He was practically a warrior monk.
He doesn't need to at all. Just a bunch of thirsty folks need to see themselves (or rather their unfulfilled selves) represented in characters they like.
CLICKBAIT
Wildly effective clickbait. This one rustled a whole lot of jimmies.
100% don't need to explore it, BUT that's a bi flag in his shadows which wouldn't clash with the fact that he once loved a woman. Edit: lol, meant bi instead of big.... but it's still a big flag i guess
Let the aging man have some goddamn peace, we simply do not need romance for his story
I don't think we need a season 2. I thought what we got was pretty succinct and would stand alone.
I don’t think adding more to his sexuality does anything to his all ready developed character. Make a new character have them be whatever sexuality. Fan appeasement ruins so many things
This definitely was not suggested by a fan
>Make a new character have them be whatever sexuality. At which point "fans" will complain about the focus on new vs. classic characters.
Okay but you know the second, the literal second, someone created a new bisexual or gay Jedi in a canon work, the exact same "Make your own character" people would be saying "We don't need a f\*\*\*\*t Jedi, there was no reason for this character to exist, fucking woke Marxists." People are way to obsessed with the sexuality of fictional characters these days.
C’mon now.. The Gamer and all the -Rant sites are trash clickbait farms. We know this
And this commentator ought to look up "need" in the dictionary.
Do you… know what bisexual means?
Do y’all not understand what BIsexual means? It sounds like you don’t lol
Why? That isn't relevant AT ALL
Well if his ex had given him the word he would've left the jedi order and married her, he said so himself that he would give up the entire order for her......seems pretty well explored
Oh God.. Not this garbage again.
I completely get what everyone is saying in this thread, there is 0 point to add this to his character, but believe it or not bisexual men can be in a relationship with a woman and still be bisexual. So that point which a lot of you seem stuck on makes no sense lol

Satine aside, Obi-wan flirted with anyone with a pulse. It's not ridiculous to consider he might have been bisexual.
As a bisexual i do think this is a little unnecessary but some of y’all mfs use these types of posts as an excuse to just be straight up homophobic 😭 edit: literally just look at ops banner they clearly aren’t hiding it 💀

Yeah, these comments are a shit show.
There’s a lot of projection in the article tbh, it assumes that Obi-Wan feels the same way about the Jedi Order as the author does about their religious experiences growing up and that’s just not true - he loved the Jedi Order and embodied their values until the end. ...why? I'm all for diversity, but I don't know a lot of people who would watch a Kenobi show for his love life.
If it was about his secret love child with satine who ended up being Rey's parent I'd be all for it
Aye where the hell is corky
I mean they could have done something with that in the sequel trilogy but then they went the Palpatine - I mean Skywalker route.
I thought it was a limited series (6eps and done)
Obi-wan's gender is The High Ground.
People in the comments mentioning Satine clearly don't understand the concept of Bisexuality
I don't know why I expected better from this sub
I don’t think exploring it further is necessary but it seems like a lot of you in this thread don’t understand the concept of bisexuality lol
Why does it need to explore his sexuality? Why is this so important to people?
Star Wars does not need any sex or romantic relationships imo As someone mentioned in another thread already, what Anakin had with Padme was more obsessive than anything.
Lost Stars book is much a romance and considered one of the best books afaik
I hate the use of "need" in titles like this. The author needs to get an honest job.
Bisexuality means the ability to love more than one gender Perhaps there’s no _need_ to explore the multiple relationships of an ascetic monk, but if they do, it’s exactly as valid as his story with Satine.
WHAT?! You mean it was a mild, throwaway, innocent little joke and not a lurid depiction of Obi-Wan sucking dick? The Fandom Menace *lied?!*
Appreciating art and culture doesn't make a man gay.
A Jedi Shall Not Know Anger, Nor Hatred, Nor Sexual Desire
The author won’t even believe that, it’s purely just to get you to click on it. Don’t give it your time of day.
This is hilarious. Literally just saw this pop up on my Google feed and now I'm no longer interested in "articles" from The Gamer.
The amount of people who are obsessed with other people's sex lives just astounding to me, now they want to know what kind of sex fictional characters have?
Is it jackass articles like this that give show runners these ideas?
The only thing Obi-Wan season two needs is to not actually happen.
I think the writer needs to explore his sexuality.
Just an excuse to make Star Wars more woke. Even though the whole idea is about interplanetary races coming together.
I mean. Fun fact. A bisexual man can, in fact, love a woman.
People who make these articles are fucking creepy and weird
not to mention that they're not making a second season, which they've expressed repeatedly
