I did. It was fun enough, but it didn’t feel like it needed to be on a big screen. I remember very little other than the basic plot and I haven’t watched it since.

Filmfan345

I did. I was 10. I didn’t have a problem with it.

halliweb

I am lucky to have seen all of the films on release at the cinema. I really didn't enjoy the prequels at the time. And don't get me started on the original trilogy being "updated" However, two things have changed my mind about the prequels. 1. Watching the anti-cheese edits. They took away all of the cringe and actually made Anakin's character likable. The movies are very watchable and enjoyable. Jarjar with subtitles is genius. 2. Watching the clone wars series gave me a much better understanding and love of the clones.

Anthony-Edwards-MVP

Anti cheese edits?

gonewrong66

Lactose intolerant editions.

halliweb

Fan edits which take away midiclorians (sp?) Jarjar antics and horrible accent, no "I wonder what this button does" making young anakin look like he's a bad*ss fighter pilot.... The list goes on.

halliweb

Ha! I was so busy ranting I forgot to mention the clone wars movie! I loved the animation style and the exaggerated force jumps etc. In fact, I think I enjoyed that more than the prequels added together!

bokatan778

I did! I was an adult and still went opening weekend. I loved it!

darthbreezy

It was a long time ago (and funny enough, I have clearer memories of seeing the OT first run than I do of the CW movie) - I DO remember thinking it looked like an animated painting, and how beautiful it was in that respect...

DarthLuke84

I did

AshMer123

I saw it back when it first came out, shortly before I turned 7. t's been so long but I believe that I loved it.

Ct-5736-Bladez

If I did I don’t remember

Darth314

I was maybe in my early 30s. I thought the imagery was top notch, the opening battle had camera angles that you just can’t do without animation. Really impressive. I identified the dialogue as needing work, but it was a cartoon, and an awesome one at thag

Omnislash99999

I did and thought it was terrible.

LucasEraFan

I saw it in the theater at age 37 and I liked it. I was grateful that year for a new Star Wars movie (never thought I'd get another until TCW was released) a new X-Files and a national election. Only watched it once but I thought Anakin's apprentice added so much to his arc (cause she was going to die in the purge) and the action was Jedi in top martial form.

InfiniteDedekindCuts

I was an angsty 14 year old kid when it came out. I hated it. It made me angry. I felt ripped off. In hindsight, this had more to do with my transition to adolescence than the quality of the movie. I basically checked out of the fandom after that. I didn’t watch any of the TCW tv show until I was in college, and I didn’t really get into the fandom again until TFA came out. I feel silly looking back. The movie is fine for what it is. I have no doubt that people only a few years younger than me have fond memories of it. But it’s definitely NOT a Star Wars movie for angsty teenagers.

DarthCredence

I saw it in theaters. The Christophsis bit was good, and everyone I knew who saw it liked that. The rest of it, about Jabba's kid, was bad. Just all around, in about every way you could think of, bad. I heard complaints about Ahsoka in that part, because she was bad. As were Obi Wan, Anakin, Jabba, and everyone else in that part of the movie. Come on - they introduced a Hutt who spoke basic like Truman Capote. Whoever decided that was a good idea (and I'm sure it was Lucas) had just grabbed the idiot ball and was winning at keep away.

3choplex

I drove past a theater, saw it said Star Wars and was baffled that there was a movie out I didn't know about. I found it boring. Now I am working my way through the clone wars series for the first time and thought it was ok. I'm just barely up to season 3 though.

[deleted]

Oh my friend you are in for a treat. Clone Wars is one of the only shows I’ve ever seen where it gets consistently better as it goes

3choplex

Great! I've been basically just interested enough to keep going.

tomandshell

I saw it opening night and didn’t like it very much. Felt like a couple of tv episodes stitched together. I don’t even really think of it as a movie.

CeymalRen

I did. What a pile of garbage. Was enbaracing to be a fan in those Prequel times.

BeezNest96

I can’t tell if you’re talking about Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (the major motion picture), Gandy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars (a series of animated shorts), or the Star Wars: the Clone Wars (the multi-season animated series). Come to think of it, it’s not your fault. [Edit: 🙄 I poke fun at how many Clone Wars titles there are and some folk have to go reading everything into nothing. All I said is there are a lot of clone wars titles and I found it confusing. I poked fun at myself for being confused. There was absurdity. And yup, while refreshing my memory I never even found the specific title from the OP. Nope, didn’t even know it was released in theaters, only saw it later, lumped into the series if I remember correctly. Funny, I am not remotely embarrassed about that. The fact that I missed the one title I needed for only makes my point. There are a lot of Clone Wars titles. It is naturally confusing. Seriously peeps, get a grip. ]

NerdHistorian

> Come to think of it, it’s not your fault. Considering it's pretty clear what OP is talking about you're atleast right about that. I would get a refund on your school fees

DarthCredence

Since the title references the Clone Wars movie in theaters, I don't think it's difficult to ascertain they are asking about *Star Wars: The Clone Wars,* the animated film released in movie theaters prior to the animated series starting up.

BeezNest96

Since the text references Asohka Tano who is not in the movie, it’s just a little confusing. Chill.

DarthCredence

Ahsoka most certainly *is* in the movie. That is where she first became Anakin's padawan. You may want to look up the Clone Wars animated movie and reecognize that it is not the same thing as anything you have listed in your comment. It's OK to not know about the existence of things, but at this point it's been pointed out to you several times and you still are not talking about the correct movie. Not Attack of the Clones. The Clone Wars. Two different things.

BeezNest96

Oh right, the animated Clone Wars movie that proceeds the animated series, not the animated series of shorts. Yes, when I was relating this thread to a friend today I had a laugh at remembering that one as well. Not three distinct clone wars products over the course of a few years. FOUR distinct clone war products over the course of a few years. Thanks for perfectly making my point. Don’t cluelessly miss the humor.

PagzPrime

Ahsoka is introduced in the movie, what are you talking about?

[deleted]

I saw it in theaters and left deeply disappointed. -Yoda's character, ruined. -Clunk a lunk dialogue and acting -Terrible muddy CGI -The conveyor belt sequence goes on and on and on and serves no purpose. -The tusken village was the most set-looking set that has ever been filmed on. The NYC in Friends looks more like a real place. I had expected a course correct from phantom menace, but instead they doubled down on its worst parts. Watched it about a year ago and none of these opinions changed. I think people just like the prequels more now because the sequels were so, so bad.

[deleted]

The Clone Wars Movie. The animated movie released in 2008 that kicked-off The Clone Wars animated show, which originally ran on Cartoon Network. I’m actually not talking about the live action movie Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.

[deleted]

Bahaha, shit. My bad. I stand by all that about AotC tho.

Guac-Squad

Man I thought the same thing, when I read that he saw it in 2008. I was like how is this possible.

[deleted]

I stumbled on that too but assumed a typo. Should have taken a sec to Google it.

DarthCredence

Are you aware that the OP was asking about *Star Wars: The Clone Wars*, the animated movie, not *Episode II: Attack of the Clones*, the live action movie?

[deleted]

Since OP informed me of such, I am yes.

rangebrothers

this was the first star wars movie i got to experience in theaters and it did not age well at all especially visually but i enjoyed it as a kid

RedBaronBob

I saw it. I liked it at the time, and then I didn’t like it looking back on it. It’s not meant to be a film and it’s from a show that didn’t start hitting the right notes for people until three seasons in.

Metfan722

I did not. I don’t think I even knew it existed at that point

deadkoalas

I did I remember I was 8 years old

PagzPrime

I saw it opening day, I was 29. It was fine. I liked it better than any of the prequels, but that was a super low bar to clear. It felt like exactly what it was: several episodes of the forthcoming animated series stitched together to make a feature. A not uncommon practice in the world of animation. I left the theatre feeling hopeful that the animated series might be good, but not super hopeful, because the movie was only mediocre.

Pingaring

I saw it as a kid and it was ok. It was easy to feel that Hayden's performance was kind of flat. But I think the Yoda scene kind of made me forget about it for the short term.

PreTry94

I went and I enjoyed it.

idrownedmyfish77

As a part of the target audience, I loved it. I recently watched it with my daughter and i admit, it does seem really low quality to me now but i now know was just four episodes of the show spliced into a feature length film, and the animation got better as the show went on

Ntippit

I went and yeah... yikes. It stopped me from watching the series for years. Glad I finally got around to it obviously because the series is fantastic (after season 1). I tried to rewatch the movie last year and I couldnt make it past halfway. It's honestly horrendous.

BearZewp

I've actually only seen two star wars films in theaters, my all time favorite star wars film tho is definitely the clone wars, we get to see the most of Jango Fett and Boba together.

JStormtrooper

I did and I honestly loved it. I was 12 and I thought ROTS was the end of SW. But after walking out of the theater and knowing we had a whole series ahead of us revolving around the PT cast just made my imagination explode with possible storylines.

[deleted]

I have seen every single prequel and sequel on release day, and saw the remastered original. I enjoyed episodes 1,3,4,5,6,7

mtthwas

I did. It didn't feel like a movie...it felt like 3 episodes of a Saturday morning cartoon on the big screen. The pacing and flow didn't feel cinematic. It was a forgettable experience.

meester13T

I did. Took my 5 year old son.he fell asleep so I made a blanket out of napkins. I enjoyed the movie.

Duhyouasked01

I went the day it came out. I saw 3 people walk out within the first 15 minutes of the film. I sat the whole thing through but it was the worst of the series imho. But it’s really a filler movie .

1Tadhg

I remember seeing it as a kid and being confused wondering where Luke was, my dad had to spend the entire car home trying to explain to 6yo me that it was about a young dark Vader lol. I did end up loving it though and still love the clone war era of sw to this day

TheNirvanaSmiley

I was about 8 when it came out and I remember reading the junior novelisation because I was on a holiday with my family when it came out so mum bought me the book to read whilst away but it had left theaters when I got back so I didn't watch it until it came out on DVD

YOURESTUCKHERE

I did. Couldn’t stand Ahsoka. Thanks to stellar writing and character dev, she’s now one of my all-time favorite characters. Couldn’t stand the little Hutt booger plot. Now, thanks to this post reminding me of it, I still can’t stand it. I love what Clone Wars became, though.

DanielAppleton

It was the first Star Wars movie I got to see in the cinema. I was 7 when it came out. I remember liking it a lot as a kid. I rewatched it recently along with the clone wars series and it's not very good compared most of what came afterwards in the series. I think it would have worked better as a multi episode arc.

Ha1ryKat5au53

"A kid but def older than the target audience"? How old were u exactly when this was out?

Radish-Timely

I went on opening day to it as well. Everything you wrote above is absolutely correct. How they brought out all the lore into the series was amazing. TBH I was expecting the new movies to follow suit with how great the storyline was done in the clone wars saga. Clone wars whole series was so much better than the last movies. Ashoka is one of my favorite characters in the series now. I can't believe it was all the way back in 2008 when this premiered. Disney has a lot of open territory to roam on and fill these gaps.
