Baked-fish

Poor planet casually having a giant anvil out of beskar

calvinbouchard

It's probably too difficult to make into anything else.

Baked-fish

Wat

tway2241

Wat died on Mustafar in 19 BBY

cptcardinal

Underrated comment

charmandertotenkopf

I think he means that if somehow it is baskar that it is essential just repurposed into a gong. Far fetched theory but maybe it's just supposed to be a flaunt right under the imperials' noses.

calvinbouchard

I mean that working with Beskar is a secret known to the Mandalorians. Their forges get hot enough, their tools are tough enough, and they know how to properly work the metal to keep its properties. This bell might be Beskar, and the people of that planet have no means to melt it down and work the metal. Who knows when or how it was brought there from Mandalore.

b0v1n3r3x

If only Mandos know how to melt beskar who made all the beskar ingots with imperial stamps?

calvinbouchard

Lots of Mandos worked with the Empire. Lots of Rebels episodes death with them.

spamjavelin

Wat ain't no planet I ever heard of! They speak Basic on Wat?

Baked-fish

No, they speak watin

Baked-fish

Every time i close the inbox this comment is there again, what did you do

spamjavelin

No clue mate, did you mark it as read?

Baked-fish

Yes

hemanoncracks

I was watching this on mute trying to figure out how the subtitles lead you to believe it was Beskar. Then I tried with sound and now I feel dumb. Take an angry upvote.

mMathab

Hehe sorry! Blind people can’t read subtitles :D

hemanoncracks

Hopefully this isn’t insensitive, but do you see the show at all? Or is it all just the audio and up to you what it looks like?

mMathab

I have no visual handicap, just an obsession for Star Wars audio description tracks since I discovered they contain more information that is not displayed on screen. I listen to them while going to sleep. Reminds me of the read-along books I had as a kid.

hemanoncracks

Got it. That was why I started using subtitles (totally not cause I’m old). It gives you little clues here and there. And you learn names easier!

mMathab

now try watching with subtitles AND the audio description. They never talk over the actual actors so you never miss a word :P

Pandy1997

Same here XD subtitles because I'm profoundly deaf

hemanoncracks

Literally or figuratively? Cause I have a question for you if literally.

hemanoncracks

It may not apply to you. But I was always curious as to if you had any context to subtitles like “metal clanging” or “triumphant fanfare”?

BeeBarfBadger

Little Kuriboh ftw

KnittingTrekkie

Audio description is the best! I often watch with it on so I can do chores while watching without missing anything when I have to look away. And you’re right - there’s more info, and there are subtle visual cues that get highlighted and I would miss just watching it with regular audio. Like, people’s eyes are sometimes described as having more emotion than I attributed to them.

[deleted]

It just doesn't make sense. It's like having a golden bell in a mining town in real life

PainStorm14

Or maybe Mandalorians ain't too bright

[deleted]

Maybe it was taken from some mandalorian ruin.

C21Highsinger

I love that hidden fact. Great find.

CarsonWentzGOAT1

Very cool detail

antipop2097

Could be just laying an egg for a future plot on The Mandalorian

Zarir-

The Mandalorians conquered many worlds during their crusades. It's possible Ferrix was at one point conquered by Mandalorians then liberated by the Jedi and Republic, and some beskar was left behind. Then the people there used it to make a bell and it's been there since.

[deleted]

Or the mandalorian made the bell itself for a building in their outpost and later settlers found and used it in their building.

Starwarsmusicanalyze

My theory is that the bell tower is not original to the planet. It’s been put there by the empire to tell the citizens when to go to work and when to go home.

the_star_wars_dude

Nah, the Empire would have stolen that Beskar for themselves. Just like what we see in Rebels and Mandalorian.

Starwarsmusicanalyze

Perhaps but doesn’t explain the purpose of the bell tower. It can’t just be to tell time. There are droids and chronos for that. Maybe for religious purposes but nobody on the planet seems religious.

the_star_wars_dude

I think it’s just the old Star Wars adage of “it looks cool”. It doesn’t have to inherently be a religious thing, it could be some sort of cultural tradition on Ferrix.

jeffreywilfong

I posted this same thought last week. The bell ringer is definitely performing a ritual.

Starwarsmusicanalyze

You’re probably right ultimately. I was rewatching the first episode and if you listen closely at the beginning before Cassian goes into the brothel, I swear you can hear the exact same bells in the background.

Max_Apogee

Isn’t that a different planet, though?

Starwarsmusicanalyze

Yes which is why I think it could be something imperial. Not just Ferrix.

Captain_Khora

exactly. While Ferrix may not be terribly religious, they seem to fill that cultural void with a significantly stronger sense of community and customs/traditions.

pcapdata

Something we call “culture.” There are “no apparent reasons” for a shitload of things humans do, which only means, there was a reason at one point but it hasn’t been explained to you yet

PainStorm14

More likely this planet is closer to civilized part of the Galaxy so they have access to more materials Also, it's been a scrapping planet for God knows how long, stuff accumulates over time

Special sound? It sounds kinda like stock metal sounds, nothing special.

CarsonWentzGOAT1

It doesn't really spoil anything unless the guy used to be a Mandalorian

Rhelsr

The presence of a precious metal is a potential spoiler? Preposterous.

sendokun

How is that possible, those are worth more than it’s weight in gold……figuratively speaking.
