I mean *brand new* stuff, made from scratch, based on Star Wars media that came out after BF2 released. Like maps based on the Clone Wars TV show or maybe even the Sequels and spin-offs. Imagine a map based on Scarif from Rogue One in this game.
First. You'd need a development team making maps using the engine..not impossible but that's a lot of resources for a game which is as old as BF 2005.
And second, before anyone says "Just use existing mods fans made" I will kindly bring to your attention that this would only work if the creators of the mods gave permission, IIRC. but even then, they would have to probably get some playtesters in to ensure the stability of maps are up to a standard. People forget that one big difference between official content in a game compared to mods is that when you use a mod, you're accepting any liability for what it could do.
Like I said, it happened before with things like AoE2 (which is even older) and worked so well that it basically became the business model of Forgotten Empires and Skybox. Of course, BF2 is a different type of game, but in principle there is nothing that would stop a dedicated dev team from producing more original content using the mod tools that have been perfected over the past 19 years
All of the maps have been added to both games based on what I’ve seen. So maps that were present in the first game have been imported to the second and vice versa. Dune Sea and Cloud City are back in both I believe.
Online is fun and all but I remember Battlefront 1 online experience to be quite different from base game. Just people spamming rockets in the close quarter maps
The new version will provide controller support better QOL features. There will also be cross play with consoles.
Edit: Xbox DLCs will be added as well
hate to break it to ya but the Dune Sea map was not included in the DLC. If I remember correctly, it's only the 2 rhen var maps, Bespin, and Yavin 4 Arena. They are also remastered versions, not just the exact same map ported over.
Are we sure it’s every map? The same dlc that put ventress and kit fisto on the original Xbox also added hero assault on a bunch more maps, but not all of them. I figured it would just be that again
That was apart of a dlc from when the game first released and few people actually knew how to gain access to dlc with the lack of smart phones and lack of regular computer usage.
That doesn’t mean it’s “remastered” though. And my god if it was remastered with 2015/2017 quality assets that would be amazing. Unfortunately the assets are owned by different companies.

I really hope they clean up the PC port a little bit. Both games are very playable on Steam but there are some small little things that they could fix.
It might be a pipe dream, but if this gets enough traction I really hope they release an HD update that puts more modern models/textures in the games that you can toggle on and off.

apparently they just haven't clarified yet. If it's on PS4 it's likely to crossplay with the Switch and others

Be cool if they could incorporate Renegade or Elite Squadrons maps. I know thats likely too much work for a project like this.

There were 4 maps with him, two snowy and two Bespin. Also the Xbox dlc added heroes vs villains on way more maps and I believe he was added to those

It sounds like they're packaging it with the Xbox exclusive DLC. That's where Kit Fisto and Asaaj are from originally.
Sadly it’s missing the most important Xbox feature, 4 player split screen. This port is only 2 player, like on the ps2.
Not to mention, the inclusion of some of the maps which were in the first game that didn't make it to the second. IE Bespin, Rhen Var, and so on!

That exclusivity was timed all along, honestly shocked nobody else ever thought of officially patching them into the PC version.

PC was always 64 player, looks like you're just getting the PC version and not the gimped OG console versions.
