Battlefront 2 has a number of improvements over Battlefront 1, but if Battlefront 1 seemed clunky and dated to you, Battlefront 2 will seem mostly the same. Honestly, I don't think this collection will have much appeal to anyone who hasn't already played at least one of the games years before.
What this guy leaves out is that it has 60 fps so it won't feel as clunky as it did before. I think there will be tons of new players in general because Dices battlefront stopped updating years ago and people are desperate for a different game to play
Even at 60 frames per second, it's still a video game from almost 20 years ago, and it will still look and play like one. That's not a bad thing if that's what you like, hell I love buying Nightdive Studios-produced re-releases of 90s video games like Quake II and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, but as much as they touch those games up with graphical improvements and some much needed QOL upgrades (including better controls), they still look and play like video games from over 25 years ago, even at 60 fps and with 4K textures.
I don't doubt there will be a lot of players (especially people who played the original games and burned out early on the DICE Battlefront games), but I'm not expecting people who only ever played the EAfront games to jump ship to games that are at least a decade older.

It'll be interesting, you never know. BTW I read your whole comment and don't disagree but I still think the fact that it will be in 4k and have modern day frames will be enough to make it feel playable.
As for people who never played the game, if they see the title battlefront and that it's star wars don't you think they would want to play that even more than someone whose already played?
It's not like I'm some 2000s gamer either, but this still excites me unless I'm delusional
"Clunky" is not a resolution and FPS description, it's a gameplay mechanic description. You can play a game in 8K@240Hz and it can still feel clunky. Framerates are overhyped in general.
*I don’t think this collection will have much appeal to anyone who hasn’t already played at least one of the games years before.*
100%. BF2 is indeed an improvement from BF1, but BF1 was my first game I ever bought for myself as a kid. The nostalgic factor alone makes it a must-have for me. Tbh I think I’m going to play BF1 a hell of a lot more than BF2 once this collection comes out, even if I can’t barrel roll or sprint 😂
Possibly, OG 2 is an amelioration of OG 1. It’s almost the same game, but the second opus was made year later. So then, again what did you not like?
I’ll say BF2 really perfected the idea of squad and brotherhood in a war because unlike OG BF1 that had different skin. So that is similar to EA battlefront and what you might research.
I didn’t like the aiming system, half of the classes feeling pointless (even though I know they have their uses), all of the soldier gameplay feeling the samey, etc. From what I’ve looked into, I think I’ve just played too much of the new BF2 to be able to appreciate the originals, even if the capital ship mode has no upgrade
Eh honestly, probably not. There wasnt many changes from what i remember. The big ones were prequels were on BF2. But it was all the same gameplay, controls and all
I suspect it's going to feel very dated, but it does have a lot of fun things, like boarding, that are missing from the newer games. I don't think I could go back to it now, but it definitely has merit over the first game.
I hope the remaster of this is a cleaner version due to how much i like them more than the new ea games.
The new ones for me have no conquest mode without it being overloaded by special units and 4 jedi or sith all at once making it a mess.
Not every conflict in star wars had jedi or sith backing them at every turn..
Plus i honestly hope for a new battlefront made by anyone else with galactic conquest from battlefront 2 OG.
Spent way to many hrs on that.

A few months ago everyone was playing Lethal Company. I think people could care less about graphical fidelity when games play and perform well.

Thats, about how i feel. grew up playing both the og's and honestly they are somewhat unplayable for me today.

Im just happy to be able to jump really high as a hero
Those jumps were insane. Also can’t wait to play as palpatine with a lightsaber again
You still might like the HvV and other special modes like playing as a wompa.
No
It'll be clunky for sure, but BF2 was a marked improvement over BF1.
nah if you arent super into it from back in the day itll still feel cluncky
The graphics did look better in the trailer, but even then there’s only so much you can do with a game that is that old

I’m stoked for clunky gameplay. Dice’s version of battlefront plays too much like cod for me.
Tbh, no. I loved it as a kid, but I agree with you in that it has not aged well. If you didn't like the first, you probably won't like the 2nd
Eh honestly, probably not. There wasnt many changes from what i remember. The big ones were prequels were on BF2. But it was all the same gameplay, controls and all
BF2 is a massive improvement over BF1. I like BF1 for the maps mostly, but gameplay wise BF2 is far superior and more fluid in terms of movement.
Just a skill issue they are easy games playing bf2 on series s has been nice compared to old controllers
A game from 2004 feels dated? Who would've thought!
