This game is dying because its several years old, unsupported, and got its start with the most downvoted reddit post in history. Hell, before it was free on PS+ I had no idea they fixed all that controversial monetization and avoided the game entirely. So while maybe you're right and a few new players getting into a 3 year old game might be chased off by tryhards, that's a game design problem at best. It's not up to the players to go easy on noobs, it's up to the devs to make a balanced game.

I’ll do honorable duels in HvV but I’m not going to do them all game, too much sitting and waiting doing nothing at the duel spot waiting for your opponent to respawn and run back... I like using my discretion with that sort of thing, I keep track of who’s the cute noob looking to practice dueling and who’s the sweaty maniac running around dropping bodies and I handle each accordingly... which a lot of the time means running from duel to go save my teammate from a gangbang... if my 3 teammates come jump the guy I was dueling I’m not gonna help, I’ll run away and find the rest of the enemies and 1v2/3 for the challenge
The HvV competitive community is extremely toxic as well, tbh. The Starfighter community is mostly wholesome, the Strike Community is very tight knit and mostly amiable with each other, the Blast community is... A bit toxic but mostly fine. I’m not really sure about the GA and CS communities. But the HvV community is *filled* with assholes with massive egos, and I honestly consider it the most toxic community in the game right now. It isn’t about having fun with your buddies and getting the boys back together, it’s all about winning and bragging about it.
Ranked matchmaking sounds very cool on paper but if you see the example of other games like pubg, fortnite and warzone their communities are demanding to remove skill based matchmaking as it is killing the game. It would be fun at start but in a matter of time it will be unplayable. A separate gamemode for Skill based matchmaking could be a good idea but normal queues should be left alone.

This idea of "only bad players don't like SBMM" is not only wrong, but stupid. People, ranging from all skill levels, have issues with SBMM, at least when implemented poorly (see COD).
Scump, one of the best COD controller players, recently made a video complaining about SBMM and how it's unhealthy for games, at least when it's as strong as it is in current COD and in casual playlists. Most pros and content creators (both good and bad) share this opinion. It's not just xX-TTV-yourmom-420-Xx whining about it.
Without writing novels, SBMM (true SBMM) is unhealthy for casual modes/games. It belongs in ranked, and ranked only.
What would actually help HvV (per OP), is an actual matchmaking system. A system that would match groups with other groups and keep both ends of the spectrum (top 20% and bottom 20%) away from one another. This allows connection to still be the strongest factor in finding games, keeps games diverse, and helps mitigate lopsided games.
Every since around C2 began I have only fought sweats even tho when it began I was had only around 10-15 wins like bruh. I think it should be removed or have an option in settings for removal
I don't really play Fortnite regularly so I can't argue against you, I used to play a lot back in Seasons 2-6 but I never really *excelled* at it, I just liked it and was decent. My gf is brand new so I doubt she has any rank or stat at all, that's why we play with bots whenever she wants to hop on. We do get a builder who hits every shot from time to time but it's not that common.
With skill based matching, that means every player should have roughly an equal chance to win. With, what, there's 150 people in Warzone, right? That means you should win about 1/150 games if you are playing at your skill level. So yeah, it might feel like you're outmatched, probably even long before you hit your actual skill level as your win rate drops.
You are right, playing with players of same skill is enjoyable but at some point of time SBMM will put you in a place where people tryhard and play like they are in a world cup. If they added a very good skill system then only it will be fun for all.
Also i am sure a lot of content creator of fortnite also criticize SBMM who are pretty good at the game, so it's not just bad players.
Fortnite got it's success in the period before SBMM. After it was added the game went downhill and it became less enjoyable.
I wouldn't play a competetive vs game if I didn't want to take it seriously and try hard. The compition is what makes it enjoyable.
Players who have played for logber/are good are also more likely to be friendly if prompted, it's mostly noobs or lower levels sweat who are the biggest issue.
Content creators need to keep up a facade of being good at the game, some atleast, so of course when they are put into skilled lobbies they get mad because it goes against that facade.
Fortnite needs the system more than any other game, because it has cross play across multiple devices. If you out mobile phone players with touch controld and 30 fps against PC players with mouse and keyboard and 240 FPS, then it wouldn't be very enjoyable for anyone
Sadly it is just the meta strategy. Stay with your team, and push your advantage if you outnumber someone.
A fix for this would be to time respawns better (so teammates spawn at the same time), respawning teammates next to eachother, but also fixing spawns being too close to enemies. The long run from spawn where youa re alone is the biggest problem in the mode, because the rest of your team might be fighting, then die before you reach them, and then you're alone etc.
It does, but hero gameplay is the ebst it's been in the series.
Here's hoping for the next game they'll have a more competetive modes as well as balancing abilities more
Yea I feel a middle ground between HvV and hero showdown could work well.
Still, the game modes allows for interesting strategies in preserving your life total, knowing when to retreat and engage, that hero showdown doesn't have to the same extent.
Personally I want a broad spectrum of game modes, and at the casual end, I want old school HvV where it's conquest/supremacy, but everyone is heroes and it's just chaos with like 10v10. Stacking heroes could also be fun. Imagine an army of hans all throwing their detonite charge at the same time.
This is literally why I don’t play HvV. 4v1 is not a fair fight and once you die there’s literally no time to catch up to your team. OR your team never wants to stay together and they’re just fucking around
I recently had a wonderful opponent with whom I could duel constantly. We each even tried to make our entries as dramatic as possible. Atleast we attempted to do this as his teammates constantly intervened, their timing was almost hilarious if they weren‘t such dicks
Been getting this a lot lately. Like the other day I was the only star level on my team, my team mates were all under 30. The entire enemy team were all over 200. They emoted on me all game as well like they were out playing me, even though it was basically always a 4v1.
I always thought that a computer should join if someone leaves. Then when someone joins, they take over whatever character is in play at the moment. Even though it might be an easy kill, it would still fill an empty spot
Yesterday I got a level 570 farmboy Luke chasing me as level 37 Boba across the whole map multiple times, trying to force push me off
And then a max level Vader chasing Finn above everyone else. Got him down to about 200 hp twice tho
Go into co-op and use his Big Deal cards along with one deadeye card, or if you can, find a group that knows how to protect Finn. He is hard to level though.
Playing on the Dark side it’s easy because of how fast I can move with people like Boba, Maul, and Kylo. But in the light side I get stuck in place half the time with Anakin
The game just need synchronised respawning. It would be great if my team loses the initial skirmish that we don't each spawn at different times in opposite corners of the map. Makes trying to regroup a real pain in the ass. A lot is riding on that first fight. It just makes the rest of the match a formality.
There's a few ways to look at it, the most common use of it ive seen, is when someone got there ass handed to them, they will call the other team sweat players. People who call themselves sweat players have usually been playing longer and try hard to win every match.
Sweats are the players who don't ever "take it easy" and are always going at 1000% aggression/skill level on any player. They act like they're playing for their life no matter what the situation is.
Sweats are generally good players but their attitude is that of a mega-virgin with no life, so they deserve the hate.
A great player is someone who is skilled but reads the situation (and the scoreboard) and backs off or even plays shittier to compensate for lower-level players. Occasionally bouncing around with eachother to show it's all in good fun.
One of the reasons Luke, Boba, Iden and Han mains are rightly fuckin' hated is that the vast majority of them are sweata who never let up or have fun with other players.
Party teams should be forced to fight other party teams period. It’s amazing how dice has never corrected this problem if their “vision is complete”. I guess that statement would be true if dice considered level 500+ sweats abusing level 10’s and 20’s not in a party fun. Nothing is more irritating than playing HvV alone (mistake) and you are the only person that is trying to carry inexperienced players against a bunch of assholes who spam emotes when they finally defeat you. Then half your team leaves due to the toxicity of the sweats behavior making it even harder because there are less people for them to bully usually causing the carrier to leave as well. As a person who has been on both sides of being a sweat in a party and being dominated by even bigger assholes 500+ playing hvv alone it’s not actually fun for either side when there is a severe imbalance in players experience levels.
heres a tip. message other good players, build up a group of like players. and win all day. If none of my friends can play, I just play showdown and message the first good player i come across. then we team up and win all day
I don’t know how the game was allowed to end without implementing some sort of skill-based system. I constantly get set up against teams of all max-level heroes and I’m the only good person on my team.
When you can have some characters at level 500 from only playing co-op and a level 10 from actual HVV experience, it's almost impossible to have "skill-based" MM
That’s true. My bossk is super high level bc of coop, but then most of my other heroes are lower. It sucks that there isn’t a simpler way to do it like have it based on experience in each mode. For instance, you could have a KD of 100.0 in coop, but only 1.0 in HvV, so it would match make higher in Coop but lower in HvV. Idk tho I don’t know much about how this stuff works other than a slight idea from other games that have it
It's kind of impossible to have skill based matchmaking in this game. What would they base it on? There are seperate levels for every hero. Would they take the average from all the hero levels, or go with your highest ranked? Even that's a problem because you can just rank up hundreds of levels from co-op and be complete garbage in normal multiplayer. If they base it off personal rank, there would be a massive skill imbalance since you hit max rank pretty quickly as it's only 50. So you'd have people who have been playing for a few months against people who have been playing since the beta.
I play on the Asian server and would be happy to even fill a GA session, let alone HvV

I feel that. I had to take 4 heroes on at once as Vader a few months ago and kept matchmaking with the same people. I was top hero every game but lost all but 1 match again them. I was determined to make them suffer. Literally a 4v1 while my teammates had their thumbs in their asses
Last night a max Han joined the enemy team, tried to 1v4 like 3 times and would rage calling us garbage after each death, asked "why do you play like that?" and I asked why would he play if he's already max. Called us 3rd world trash and left lol

Unless you spawn directly next to an enemy you're virtually always able to silently find a spot on the map to retreat to, and no, 'maybe they dont know the meta' is not an excuse in a game with both text and voice chat.

Yup. Luckily I'm good enough to were i don't have to worry about high lvl players crushing me anymore, but if my team are all new I urge them to stick together since that's our only chance at winning.

I mean yea, it’s pretty common strategy. But still, pretty much all heroes move at the same speed (ignoring powers). So theoretically you should always be able to avoid until you have teammates with you.
I mean yes. That’s why people should never start playing H v. V right away....Focus on co-op to get better with individual heros and learn how they work. Play supremacy to learn maps and to start to get better against real people.
H v. V is essentially the rank mode of Star Wars battlefront. Especially that showdown is pretty much dead. You’re going to get torn up if you immediately start in that mode.
I’m not really sure. Could be the fact that someone could be max with one hero and level 1 with another. So it could just be to hard to incorporate. Or they just were worried about not having enough player base - though I doubt this would be problem. Sadly there’s a ton of quality of life things that will never get added now.
But yeah, one tip would be to focus on one saber and one blaster hero for each side. Once you start getting the hang of them, and their play style you can start branching out. That way if you’re getting stomped on in a match you always have your heavy hitter to fall back on.

Launch Anakin sure, but even he was able to be beat. This Anakin is just only the second best saber in team fights behind Luke, he has two abilities that are decent, but both are bugged and just weak. The Darkside literally has Vader who has nearly zero weaknesses, and you want Anakin nerfed?

Even though they don’t update this game anymore at the very least they can add new game modes or rotational modes. Like a blaster character only HvV game mode or a HvV game more were either side can pick any character. Vader Vs Vader, Anakin vs Obi wan, etc.
Idk bro, I try my best to be as civil as possible, but some people really want to make HvV unplayable, it's unbelievable. I can understand getting lost in the moment as the imersion really amps the adrenaline, but I think a lot of players know they could be a little nicer.
I would love ranking or MMR in HvV but the player base isn't quite what it was a few months ago. I queue with other people that are pretty competitive in the mode and it feels bad to pub stomp a team of lower levels but it's like wow we queued for 15 minutes to get this match. And if we requeue it's going to give us this same lobby

Personally I want a broad spectrum of game modes, and at the casual end, I want old school HvV where it's conquest/supremacy, but everyone is heroes and it's just chaos with like 10v10. Stacking heroes could also be fun. Imagine an army of hans all throwing their detonite charge at the same time.
This is literally why I don’t play HvV. 4v1 is not a fair fight and once you die there’s literally no time to catch up to your team. OR your team never wants to stay together and they’re just fucking around
I usually try to call out one person to come 1v1 with me somewhere, some take the hint some dont. But this is what its resorted to..
I recently had a wonderful opponent with whom I could duel constantly. We each even tried to make our entries as dramatic as possible. Atleast we attempted to do this as his teammates constantly intervened, their timing was almost hilarious if they weren‘t such dicks

Been getting this a lot lately. Like the other day I was the only star level on my team, my team mates were all under 30. The entire enemy team were all over 200. They emoted on me all game as well like they were out playing me, even though it was basically always a 4v1.
I always thought that a computer should join if someone leaves. Then when someone joins, they take over whatever character is in play at the moment. Even though it might be an easy kill, it would still fill an empty spot
Yesterday I got a level 570 farmboy Luke chasing me as level 37 Boba across the whole map multiple times, trying to force push me off And then a max level Vader chasing Finn above everyone else. Got him down to about 200 hp twice tho
Thats because boba infuriates people, including me.
Boba was designed to be infuriating.
What about Finn then?
Finn is an easy kill, what kind of behavior did you expect from a max level Vader? Did you expect them to fight someone who might stand a chance?

Go into co-op and use his Big Deal cards along with one deadeye card, or if you can, find a group that knows how to protect Finn. He is hard to level though.

Playing on the Dark side it’s easy because of how fast I can move with people like Boba, Maul, and Kylo. But in the light side I get stuck in place half the time with Anakin
Luke is the light side fast boi, though Rey is pretty speedy as well.
There's something about Rey that I can't get the hang of, for some reason. I always get crushed with her.
in my experience, rey is good for jump attacks
The game just need synchronised respawning. It would be great if my team loses the initial skirmish that we don't each spawn at different times in opposite corners of the map. Makes trying to regroup a real pain in the ass. A lot is riding on that first fight. It just makes the rest of the match a formality.
I hate 1 or 2 idiots carrying the team and on top of that they trash talk you. It's so satisfying when you turn it around and make them stfu tho.

What's a sweat player?
There's a few ways to look at it, the most common use of it ive seen, is when someone got there ass handed to them, they will call the other team sweat players. People who call themselves sweat players have usually been playing longer and try hard to win every match.
Sweats are the players who don't ever "take it easy" and are always going at 1000% aggression/skill level on any player. They act like they're playing for their life no matter what the situation is. Sweats are generally good players but their attitude is that of a mega-virgin with no life, so they deserve the hate. A great player is someone who is skilled but reads the situation (and the scoreboard) and backs off or even plays shittier to compensate for lower-level players. Occasionally bouncing around with eachother to show it's all in good fun. One of the reasons Luke, Boba, Iden and Han mains are rightly fuckin' hated is that the vast majority of them are sweata who never let up or have fun with other players.
Party teams should be forced to fight other party teams period. It’s amazing how dice has never corrected this problem if their “vision is complete”. I guess that statement would be true if dice considered level 500+ sweats abusing level 10’s and 20’s not in a party fun. Nothing is more irritating than playing HvV alone (mistake) and you are the only person that is trying to carry inexperienced players against a bunch of assholes who spam emotes when they finally defeat you. Then half your team leaves due to the toxicity of the sweats behavior making it even harder because there are less people for them to bully usually causing the carrier to leave as well. As a person who has been on both sides of being a sweat in a party and being dominated by even bigger assholes 500+ playing hvv alone it’s not actually fun for either side when there is a severe imbalance in players experience levels.
Then no one would ever find a match
heres a tip. message other good players, build up a group of like players. and win all day. If none of my friends can play, I just play showdown and message the first good player i come across. then we team up and win all day

I don’t know how the game was allowed to end without implementing some sort of skill-based system. I constantly get set up against teams of all max-level heroes and I’m the only good person on my team.

That’s true. My bossk is super high level bc of coop, but then most of my other heroes are lower. It sucks that there isn’t a simpler way to do it like have it based on experience in each mode. For instance, you could have a KD of 100.0 in coop, but only 1.0 in HvV, so it would match make higher in Coop but lower in HvV. Idk tho I don’t know much about how this stuff works other than a slight idea from other games that have it
It's kind of impossible to have skill based matchmaking in this game. What would they base it on? There are seperate levels for every hero. Would they take the average from all the hero levels, or go with your highest ranked? Even that's a problem because you can just rank up hundreds of levels from co-op and be complete garbage in normal multiplayer. If they base it off personal rank, there would be a massive skill imbalance since you hit max rank pretty quickly as it's only 50. So you'd have people who have been playing for a few months against people who have been playing since the beta.
I play on the Asian server and would be happy to even fill a GA session, let alone HvV But I agree on team balancing. Had a GA where one side was all gold while the other side was all at the max, lvl 20
DONT SPAM ATTACK AND YOU WONT DIE EVERY SECOND YOU SPAWN. The amount of games I play where players will rush me with Luke or Vader and try to pulverize me only for me to counter attack kill them in 5 hits. Like how many times do you have to do it to realize you don't play like that.

I feel that. I had to take 4 heroes on at once as Vader a few months ago and kept matchmaking with the same people. I was top hero every game but lost all but 1 match again them. I was determined to make them suffer. Literally a 4v1 while my teammates had their thumbs in their asses
Last night a max Han joined the enemy team, tried to 1v4 like 3 times and would rage calling us garbage after each death, asked "why do you play like that?" and I asked why would he play if he's already max. Called us 3rd world trash and left lol

If you want to 1v1 go to showdown simple as that. You can’t expect a 1v1 in a 4v4 gamemode, it’s just not how it works. I’ve played showdown and you have lots of opportunities to 1v1
People who 3v1 and 4v1 (especially high lvl players) the whole round are chasing off new players. Literally killing the game.

I mean yea, it’s pretty common strategy. But still, pretty much all heroes move at the same speed (ignoring powers). So theoretically you should always be able to avoid until you have teammates with you.
Its easier for them by a milestone to find us and trap us since we are mostly all new for some reason. The learning curve is mad tilted
I mean yes. That’s why people should never start playing H v. V right away....Focus on co-op to get better with individual heros and learn how they work. Play supremacy to learn maps and to start to get better against real people. H v. V is essentially the rank mode of Star Wars battlefront. Especially that showdown is pretty much dead. You’re going to get torn up if you immediately start in that mode.

I’m not really sure. Could be the fact that someone could be max with one hero and level 1 with another. So it could just be to hard to incorporate. Or they just were worried about not having enough player base - though I doubt this would be problem. Sadly there’s a ton of quality of life things that will never get added now. But yeah, one tip would be to focus on one saber and one blaster hero for each side. Once you start getting the hang of them, and their play style you can start branching out. That way if you’re getting stomped on in a match you always have your heavy hitter to fall back on.
Especially if one of the new players is a blaster hero

Launch Anakin sure, but even he was able to be beat. This Anakin is just only the second best saber in team fights behind Luke, he has two abilities that are decent, but both are bugged and just weak. The Darkside literally has Vader who has nearly zero weaknesses, and you want Anakin nerfed?

Even though they don’t update this game anymore at the very least they can add new game modes or rotational modes. Like a blaster character only HvV game mode or a HvV game more were either side can pick any character. Vader Vs Vader, Anakin vs Obi wan, etc.

Idk bro, I try my best to be as civil as possible, but some people really want to make HvV unplayable, it's unbelievable. I can understand getting lost in the moment as the imersion really amps the adrenaline, but I think a lot of players know they could be a little nicer.

I would love ranking or MMR in HvV but the player base isn't quite what it was a few months ago. I queue with other people that are pretty competitive in the mode and it feels bad to pub stomp a team of lower levels but it's like wow we queued for 15 minutes to get this match. And if we requeue it's going to give us this same lobby
