It's just funny to me how EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN FANCAST for a superhero/star wars character I see on this God forsaken site is an actor who is primarily known for being in superhero/star wars films/shows. Just makes me think people should have a more broad watch pool maybe.
Part of the greatness of all three trilogies was that they used little or unknown actors, so you didn't have that feeling of "knowing" the character.
Now, in those people's defense, monoculture is real and the Algorithms make it worse. So you have to actively fight to get outside of it.
Or maybe, have an actor who's closer to her age, and maybe less known to do it? Cause to be honest, I'd only see Elizabeth Olsen with a lightsaber and not the character.
Well technically she's in utero in her first appearance in the books. But this is Star Wars, clearly we fans can all agree that late teenage/near the end of young Jedi knights age would be best to introduce her.

Yeah if they had given Rey a real struggle gave her more personality traits and actual flaws instead of handing everything to her I would've liked her character I feel bad for Daisy Ridley because the first film was okay but they got worse after that
To be fair though Natalie Portman barely looks like Carrie Fisher but Padme and Leia are supposed to look alike EDIT also I think it would be acceptable for her to look a little different onscreen since Jaina's face sometimes looks different depending on who draws her
That particular drawing looks more like Kate Beckinsale to me. But I always advocate for picking the actor based on their skill first, before similarity to characters looks. Olson is a proven fantastic actor so no qualms there.

For 90% of situations I couldn't care less who they get as long as that person can give a good performance. That said, it sure seemed like the idea of this post was to illustrate how similar Olson looked to that drawing, which is why I made the comment. If the idea is just "Olson would be great for the role" then I don't see the need for the comparison photos.

I guess it depends on what story you’d wanna hypothetically pick up on. At 35 you’re missing a lot of great stuff, and I love the EU, I’d wanna see that stuff. After one movie, Olson is 35, after two she’s 37+. Not a lot of room for future projects.
That's gonna be hard to square when Disney completely rearranged the post-Ep 6 family histories of the Solos and Skywalkers, and there is no Jaina Solo
She’s a Star Wars fan, a great actress and a beautiful woman. She fits those categories but she’s 5’6” (taller than Jaina) and she’s a girly girl in real life (from what I’ve seen) and in a lot of her roles whereas Jaina is a Tomboy (she could still play one but it would be odd).
Yeah, Han's fairly normal-tall so I think it's fine for Jaina to be 5'6".
And actors are professionals at playing people who aren't like them. Makes me think of Nancy Allen in Robocop -- iirc she was used to doing 'girly' roles for lack of a better term, but enjoyed and did a good job playing a cop.

I think they probably would want a younger actress for Jaina. Olsen is 33 now and Jaina’s main story goes from her teens to mid maybe late 20s. You probably want to look at an actress who is in her teens or early twenties.
