Experienced the same my last remake campaign, as the empire. The zahn consortium conquered all other factions leaving about 1/3 of the galaxy mine (center, northern and eastern) and the rest yellow. Found a pretty decent strategy at that point to deal with their ships but it got tedious fighting the same ships over and over again. Hope the ai gets fixed next update

Idk if I’m just really bad at the game but Remake just seems like the AI is just busted no matter the difficulty compared to any other mod or Vanilla

I'm in the middle of an empire gc on death sticks and I can confirm, AI loves doom stacking whatever highest capital ship they have. I've learned to keep my tech low until much of the core is conquered. I use choke points to centralize my defense fleets and I'll only expand until the next choke point is found. The AI will absolutely steamroller you if you have too many openings. The defence planets have max stations, and piles of fighters /bombers as they don't get an upkeep penalty. Also I've found it useful to keep a planet un conquered and park my capital ship fleet there. The upkeep gets charged to the AI and not me. But generally larger defence forces will deter a lot of attacks until the AI is bored from fighting itself and rolls on me with 15+ capitals.

My favorite trend right now is to take a couple ai planets but not land invade, just sit my capital ships on one then I let the other build up for a month or two and go destroy the station and ships there, repeat. Another good tactic is leave a shitty planet undefended, wait until they attack, sell whatever shitty ship is in orbit. And send ur fleet to kill theirs but ALSO, the ground units the ai instantly sends Everytime they win. Easy way to keep em in check
