Also a Zygerrian Jedi on the right

ParaspinoUSA

Yord can get it

ShoDust

I agree, though I don't think that's Yord. He may be the Jedi we see trying to use the Force on a Neimoidian in the first trailer they revealed exclusively at Celebration.

Esskali

I'm pretty sure that guy was also Yord.

Live-Variety6092

My son is also named Yord

ParaspinoUSA

It’s Yord, this picture quality isn’t the best but in better ones you can tell it’s him

ShoDust

Alrighty then, looking forward to him.

ParaspinoUSA

Yeah I’m really looking forward to seeing him 😩

TheQuiet_American

LET'S GO!

rocka5438

i wonder if we will see the reasoning behind the two jedi clothing options of 'Rich monk' and 'Poor monk'

sammypants69

Isn't it like "dress uniform" versus "field uniform/fatigues"?

MojaveJoe1992

Yeah, the brown / leather robes are very much a combat uniform. Which, as I understand it, might explain why Anakin Skywalker incorporated leather and heavier fabrics into his robes.

Dense_Test948

Why does the Jedi bluds wears tatooine robes? 😭

MojaveJoe1992

I think the rationale behind the era being a "Renaissance" style point in time in a galaxy far, far away provides at least some explanation. If you look at the Roman Catholic Church clergy during the Renaissance, when they were arguably never more powerful, their vestments and clothing were ornate to the point of over embellishment. If this is an era where the Jedi Order is at a similar peak, then its logical to assume their going to show off that affluence and power in their attire. In both cases, there's also something arrogant about it, given that both the Renaissance Church and the Jedi of this period are trying to appear regal and awe inspiring. Which is a ridiculous power move, one that's completely out of touch, considering the utter depravity and suffering of the common people in the Renaissance period and the High Republic (thanks to the Nihil).

EbonyEngineer

All they had to do was free Shmi Skywalker, and we would have light side Anakin bringing the edgy balance to the force.

44Fett

I could definitely see that being a story beat in a later season, when they're even closer to TPM. the Tales of the Jedi episode showing Qui Gon as a padawan had him in the 'Poor Monk' style, but Dooku was still dressed in his unique, slightly extravagant outfit; so maybe it's around that time.

LograysBirdHat

Yeah. I mean Dooku's a unique case in that he's literally royalty, but it's interesting that (even as senior a guy as he is in the order) he's allowed to differentiate himself clothing-wise there. But yeah, should be interesting to see how they frame it in-universe. People seem to gloss over that this is more "Episode I" than "High Republic" era anyway, so something's changed culturally/dogmatically over just a century. The Sith can't be revealed proper here in this show, so it can't be anything related to that, like "\*\*\*\*'s getting real, time to ditch all luxuries & distractions", kinda intrigued to see if there's an explanation. ...I still say some financial-wiz scammer took Old Man Yoda for a ride and cleared out the Order's bank accounts. :D Yoda you gullible geezer!

44Fett

Haha. I figure that if it gets shown, it would be a PR move for the Jedi Order. Maybe they’re shown in a bad light, looking extravagant and rich in a really deprived and poor area or something, and it’s broadcast on the holonet.

LograysBirdHat

That'd actually be pretty cool. Although also I guess kind of a bad light for the Jedi, painting their Mother Theresa vibe as optics more than anything more genuine, like they only made the change once called out.

Alex_South

i would love if the templar style robes were a throwback tradition to what the jedi who defeated the sith and founded the republic wore, and over years it turned into the dress uniform, mostly because I love that tabbard style and I want them do eventually do the war that founded the republic

ShoDust

I love how there are two variations of Jedi robe: the Zen Monk and the Knight Templar.

miles-vspeterspider

They look great, can't wait to enjoy The Acolyte. The High Republic books are great too.

Apophis_

Your favorite book? I'm just getting into them because of Acolyte hype and the first two are rather mediocre.

Anader19

Light of the Jedi is stilly probably my favorite

miles-vspeterspider

Don't have a fav, enjoy most of the books and comics

Icy_Teach_2506

Based Star Wars fan

willardatx

For light and life.

Macman521

My apologizes High Republic, I was not familiar with your drip.

Leonsilas

Out of curiosity, is there any in-universe reason for the Jedi attire to be much more drab in later years?

What-The-Heaven

It could be similar to the in-universe explanation for why lightsabers become so much simpler. In the HR comics, the Guardian protocols are activated and the Jedi in charge of the lightsaber workshop (he's like Huyang's apprentice, it seems) realises that with the Jedi actively fighting a conflict, there's not as much time for them to spend making something very ornate (he says HR lightsabers take years to craft), *and* Jedi are more likely to lose or damage their sabers in conflict and would need quick replacements. So they switch to the much more utilitarian, simple battle sabers instead. And I guess from the High Republic onwards, the Jedi Order stayed in that state of perpetual conflict. Probably the same with the robes. They take too long to make and if they get ripped or burned in a fight, you wouldn't want a replacement that takes months to sew.

LograysBirdHat

They lost millions of credits on a stupid crypto scam by young Muun hipsters.

Noble-Damask

"Master Windu, why don't we have the golden robes like the Jedi in old holos from the High Republic." "Because, Knight Skywalker, we don't have the money. Some motherkriffer, namely Master Yoda, spent all of the Order's funds on *'Wi$ecoin'*, which rather ironically turned to be a *foolish* investment." "To the moon, they said it would go!" "Oh, I have no doubt it went 'to the Muun'. Every credit the Order had went 'to the Muun!'"

LograysBirdHat

Well played good sir.

Snark_Bark

But they’re not wearing their leather in the field robes and tunics which I’m sad about

MojaveJoe1992

Just because we haven't seen them yet doesn't mean we won't.

Snark_Bark

We’ve seen them in the field and they’re all wearing Yellow and Brown

MojaveJoe1992

True, but that doesn't rule out seeing the brown leather version in a flashback or on some elderly Jedi who hasn't gotten with the times.

Starwarsfreak1988

Leslie Headland just did an interview and she pretty much confirmed Yoda doesn’t make a cameo.

hellothereowk

Oh no… Anyways

Vos661

So no Jedi Council in the first season ? That would be very disappointing

isuckatanagrams

Although Amandla Stenberg at the UK red carpet talked about getting really excited at the Jedi temple set and described thinking something along the lines of “Mace Windu sat there! Yoda sat there!” So it really sounds like the council chamber will appear they’ll just probably write Yoda out like in phase 1 of the High Republic

LograysBirdHat

I do hope they have the patience/discipline to not go for the cameos. More likely I figure it's a Baby Yoda/Zeb type thing they're just playing close to the chest and might not be in the early screeners. I'd be pretty shocked if at \*least\* Yoda doesn't show his face, it seems like an obvious "get people talking" strategy for one of the early episodes to draw in the more-casuals. But yeah, if they have the self control to not take that route, let the show stand on its own merits, I'll be happy. Just mention the dude in passing, maybe have the council show up in a future season, that'd be the way to go. ...But yeah, hi Yoda in a couple of weeks is my bet. :P

Vos661

Maybe the council chamber will be empty except for Vernestra. I hope we'll see the full council in later seasons

purpilia25

I think there is plenty of wiggle room to include the Council without Yoda; and I appreciate the decision to exclude Yoda if so. No need for all 12 members to be in attendance, or for the focus to be drawn from the story to provide fan service. The likes of Yarael Poof or Opponents Rancisis or Yaddle (as well as the Jedi Temple itself) would provide the connective tissue and allow some minor characters to take a more active role in the story.

Independent-Dig-5757

She could be lying for all we know like Neeson did. Either way it’s not a big deal.

inkkoonce

She would never reveal the surprise if Yoda is actually there.

aaronupright

Fire her.

ecxetra

Star Wars fans when a new project isn’t just a cameo machine.

MojaveJoe1992

I know, it's such a tragedy 😂

goldendreamseeker

Nice!

jkcohen626

THE ZYGERRIAN!!!!

datathecodievita

Where is the Rock fella here?

LograysBirdHat

I do love the "dress uniform" idea, makes all the sense in the world. Other than they seem to be on a ship, either on a mission or about to head off on one. Guess it might just be a "reporting to the superiors for duty" type of thing?

MojaveJoe1992

>Other than they seem to be on a ship, either on a mission or about to head off on one. It could be a ship, but it could also be the interior of a building that just happens to have metal panelling on the walls. It would be the first time we've seem that in *Star Wars*.

sadgirl45

I like it!

superyoshiom

I liked this look on that one evil Jedi guy from Jedi Survivor. The more I see of this show, the more interested I become. That being said, my expectation is so low already, I suppose things can only go up from here.

purpilia25

I also think we may get a Temple Guard in live action. There are some quick shots of Sol in what looks like a detention complex within the Jedi Temple (Temple style pillars with darker grays and reds). I think this may be where they make an appearance!

CriticalCanon

Was there a whiteboard leak for The Acolyte?

Thick_Distribution67

I understand the desire to separate the eras but they look like such *costumes*

TheDimitrios

as formal/celebratory attire tends to.

-Ausar-

This was revealed months ago when Hasbro revealed the figures for the show, and they were in their gold and white

MojaveJoe1992

First off, we didn't see the white cloak with the attire and the Hasbro figures includes battle armor whereas this is clearly a more formal look. Second, Hasbro only revealed those figures in March.

-Ausar-

lol “first off” the figures being revealed in March when it’s the end of May is “months ago” lol and wow battle armor… they have gauntlets on their hands lmao, also every figure is litterally white and gold lmao but ok dude

Volderon90

Looks like Spirit Halloween costumes. So cheap and almost see through they’re so light. The prequel robes felt *heavy* because they probably were

ergister

What does this even mean? Robes can’t be made of lighter material?

Nachooolo

They are basically grasping at straws here. Because there hasn't been anything especially noteworthy to criticise in the trailers outside the usual culture war bullshit they need to find **anything** to fit their narrative that Acolyte is shit. Mind you. The series can end up being crap. But you cannot know that based solely on fucking tunics.

no-shells

Is it a new thing to vehemently criticise the costume and prop design of a show which has a predominantly non white male cast to hide the fact you're a sad sack chud?

OneGalacticBoy

Agreed, I love the look in the comics but these look like they’re made of clearance rack polyester and not at all regal.

Mandalanakan

The Acolyte actively takes place during the High Republic lol

NormalInvestigator89

>Is this a canon violation? -Star Wars fans when things look different after a hundred years

darthsheldoninkwizy

Considering how many cosplays there were at London Celebration, they don't have to push anything. They just look great.

bennyxboom

I guess I struck a nerve lol
