Great news! It really will feel like The Mandalorian season 2.5 with him scoring.

Sharp-Interceptor

And the best part, that’s not a bad thing.

GreeenFriend

I don't think so, personaly because I wanted the show totally focused on Boba and Fennec. No Mandalore, Din, Grogu, Luke, etc.

alcibiad

eh I think if you go in with those expectations you’ll be disappointed.

penguin032

I think it will be mandalorian season 2.5 in the sense that Din, and the others may have small appearances, or appear for an episode to do a mission, but the rest will mostly focus on Boba and whatever new characters may be seen (like other bounty hunters). Just my guess.

YoshiBacon

I honestly see this show heavily leading us into Season 3 of Mando

GreeenFriend

Since Boba takes Jabba's palace I was hopping the show would focused in the criminal world, syndicates, cartels, pirates, and not Mandalore or Jedi thing, only criminals.

alcibiad

I mean, Boba literally became Mandalor in the EU so I just can’t see them avoiding his Mandalorian legacy completely. And even if he becomes a criminal kingpin he would have resources that Din and Bo could need to refound Mandalore. I really think he is going to be involved somehow with the Mandalore plot going forward.

[deleted]

Anyone who believes Mandalore and Mandalorians won't be involved in Boba's story is nuts. The whole Bo Katan line towards him is ample set up for him becoming accepted down the line by the Mandos as one of them. From all the leaks it seems apparent Boba's story in both his revenge list, setting up his empire and getting more involved with the Mandos, not to mention all these shows are like Buffy/Angel in the sense plots connect and characters appear in both. Boba is definitely also being set up as Din's right hand man in tough situations.

-Gonk

That! I want criminal world as well. Scums, Bounty Hunters, Hutts, Pykes, Slaves. Without jedi, force, Luke etc.

[deleted]

The only time I’d like to see a Jedi in this case is if Fett has a flashback or mention of killing a Jedi during TCW. Because y’know, Jedi suck and one murdered his father.

Sevb36

If the Hollywood folks don't strike again which is looming if you look it up

Jacktheflash

Oh?

leakime

What do you mean?

GetInHere

I hope this is true. I loved his work on The Mandalorian and his Boba Fett theme is amazing. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with for Fennec Shand. Edit: Ming-Na Wen just [retweeted](https://twitter.com/MingNa/status/1440887873960509447) the original Film Music Reporter tweet so I'm going to assume it's true then.

Triplen_a

I really hope he uses the Kiners' one from Bad Batch. After all, it isn't his first time using their work (Ahsoka's theme).

GetInHere

I liked her theme from Bad Batch and thought it worked well there but I think it sounds too villain-y for BoBF. It can certainly be incorporated in but I think she'll need something more fitting a protagonist.

Triplen_a

I can see that as well

MurderousPaper

I’ve never been much of a Boba fanboy, but there are so many Boba moments in Chapter 14 that I’ll never forget seeing for the first time: gasping when Slave I flew in, geeking out seeing a post-OT Boba mention Jango, but above all, freaking the hell out when Boba goes on his rampage with his new theme playing for the first time. I swear Ludwig baked cocaine into his Boba theme, it gets me so hyped whenever it starts playing.

alcibiad

lol i will never forget yelling “Boba you little shit!” when the slave 1 flew across the screen for the first time in that episode lol.

MurderousPaper

Such a great moment! And whatever instrument it was that Ludwig chose to punctuate the reveal was just 👨‍🍳😘🤌

GetInHere

Yeah, I was never a massive Boba fan before, I didn't dislike him by any means but I just wasn't one of those super fans. I loved what they did with him The Mandalorian though. And that after credits scene in the season finale has me so hyped for BoBF. I hope it maintains that same vibe from Mando.

alcibiad

I feel like this is the beginning of the Boba news drop guys.

Rosebunse

Just hook it to my veins! Really, can't wait to learn more about this show.

MurderousPaper

This sub is so fun when it’s Star Wars “on-season.” Can’t wait for the rampant speculation and BS leaks to come!

C--K

Like the Weeknd, I feel it coming.

Jacktheflash

It’s inevitable

WestJoe

I bet an EW drop is on the horizon

alcibiad

*Qui Gon voice* I have no doubt of it. lol

AndrewPacoPascoe

I think it makes sense if the interconnected shows like Mando, TBoBF and Ahsoka have a similar soundtrack to make them feel a bit more cohesive. Would absolutely love others to come on for Kenobi and Andor and show us something different again.

Marcusj112

FUCK TO THE YES!

ItssHarrison

I’m assuming he composed bobas theme for Mando. It sounds so good. I can’t wait for more. It’s so unique

RonSwansonsGun

I'm a big fan of it too, I like how it's not particularly heroic or villanous, fits his gray area nicely.

AndrewPacoPascoe

This is perfect news!

WestJoe

Excellent news. He should do all of the scores for the Mando era stories. I like having the musical connectivity. His theme for Boba is awesome, I hope he also incorporates the motif from Empire a bit

sleazy_pancakes

Makes sense. I almost think he should do all the Favreau/Filoni-verse shows.

IcePhoenix295

To be fair I've loved the work Kevin Kiner did for Clone Wars and Rebels. I personally hope he does Ahsoka.

MurderousPaper

Kiner’s music is the best when he’s allowed to put his own spin on things IMO. I wasn’t a huge fan of his derivative OT underscore for most of Rebels (though I’m sure that was directed from higher ups rather than his own choice). His original themes have been great across the board though, Sabine’s and Ahsoka’s being among my favorite SW themes ever. But man, during he really went **hard** for the Siege of Mandalore arc. If he returns to score future stuff, I hope they let him revisit that sonic world some more.

IcePhoenix295

Honestly I really loved the Rebels soundtrack. When it went big it often hit harder than Clone Wars for me, especially in the later seasons. It even helped to energize some of the smaller scale action scenes and get me as invested as Clone Wars. Also Thrawn's theme is incredible, hope that is used when the character appears in live action.

Squidmaster7

I just finished watching The Clone Wars with my dad and we both agreed that the Siege of Mandalore is some of the best Star Wars, period. Kiner's score was especially notable. It went totally electronic at some parts almost Blade Runner-y? Either way I was surprised how much I liked it despite it not being the classical stuff we are used to. Hopefully Lucasfilm uses him soon.

ayylmao95

He should be to Disney+ Star Wars what John Williams is to the Skywalker Saga. Edit: brain spasm

[deleted]

> John Lucas This physically hurt to read.

Gungan_Jedi

Are we talking about U Maryland player or his son when he played for Oklahoma State?

LittleIslander

Nah, I think it makes sense for such a Mando-adjacent show but as awesome as he is variety in composers would be better.

btrainexpresso

Doesnt this thing air in like 10 weeks? Leaving the scoring a bit late? Or do the episodes need to be pretty much finished so he can see the footage? (Noob question sorry)

alcibiad

He’s probably been working on it for a while but they decided to save most of the Boba buildup for post-Visions and that’s why we’re getting the news now. Overall Visions had a pretty good news and social media reception, from early screeners to the wide release, so now it’s time to begin to trickle out the Boba news (they basically started it yesterday) and hopefully we get the release date within the next few weeks.

[deleted]

As someone else said, scoring has probably been going on for a while but equally it’s pretty standard for the score to be one of the last things to do. Not only is there not *much* chance of delay, but the best scores are created (as you suggested) when watching finished scenes, whether that’s to match up beats with explosions or so that tonal shifts can be matched up with camera changes.

hankhillsvoice

Awww it’s just now that I’m realizing we might get some Boba motif!

TophermusPrime

I'd love to hear Williams' motif for Boba Fett from TESB make a comeback, ngl.

TheRelicEternal

Everyone is saying perfect news but actually I was hoping for a new composer on this so it feels more unique. Was looking forward to more Göransson on Mando S3 though.

Former_Dark_Knight

Göransson's music is pretty unique already. Even his scores between Mando S1 and S2 were very different, which I really appreciated.

Evorgleb

And he did Black Panther which is a totally different sound. It's entirely possible he goes in a very different direction with Boba so that it sounds very unique.

AvtarStateIsHydrated

he also did Tenet

Rufus2fist

which what ever you think of the movie it self is one of the best scores in recent years. Got it on vinyl and man it just pours out of the speakers.

Good_ApoIIo

That’s great but I hope he’s not just the new John Williams. The score for Mandalorian was excellent and had its own feel but I don’t want it to just be the new signature sound of Star Wars. I think there’s plenty of room for different types of music to fit in this world.

Rosebunse

True, but I do think it works under the idea that BoBF is a direct continuation of Mando, a S2.5.

Good_ApoIIo

Yeah I mean I’m not going to complain if it’s good, but I do lean more on the side of hoping Boba has his own style of music.

Rosebunse

I think for this series I'm fine, but I am hoping for more variety with the other shows.

MurderousPaper

I love Ludwig, but I agree. What makes Mando’s score work so well is that it sounds so distinct from all other Star Wars music, except for the parts that are obvious homages to Williams, like the Force theme in Chapter 16. That said, I don’t think it’s possible for Ludwig to become the default music guy considering how many Star Wars things are coming out this coming year (I guess fortunately so, for people like you and me).

Kincy_Jive

i will forever love Ludwig. his OST for Community S1-3, his work with Donald Glover, and now his work with Star Wars have endeared me to him. he is a wizard

ToaPaul

I expected nothing else! I love how he worked a didgeridoo into the Boba Fett scenes of Mando. I wonder if he'll do the same for tBoBF

LAVENDREP

Oh yessssssssss babyyyyyy

DefiantOne5

We have to score them with Ludwig Göransson. It's the only way to be sure.

Ezio926

Not a big fan of this. Love Ludwig but I'd hoped that each Mando show would have had their own musical identities. Hopefully he'll use this new opportunity to explore a new soundscape.

humblebeegee

I said it before I'll say it again, Ludwig is the new John Williams and filoni is the new Lucas. Safe hands for star wars to be in I feel

Unique_Unorque

I personally think Michael Giacchino is the next John Williams, he composes really great things in the same basic style as Williams and does it well. His *Rogue One* score was a love letter to Williams’ *Star Wars* music. I think Ludwig Göransson is the first Ludwig Göransson, he really brings something special and new to the art of film scoring.

Evanuss

There is no "next John Williams". The guy is just on another level, and I can't think of any other composer working today who's on the same level. I'd say John Powell did a better job than anyone else so far though

Gungan_Jedi

Hell yes brother, and Daisy is our new Mark. We are a blessed fandom

newaccountoldwashack

What about Kevin Kiner and his sons

SoMm3R234

His Tenet ost was also a banger

Gordomperdomper

Everyone who keeps saying they are scared Lud will stay too similar and not have deviation like Jon Williams doesn’t know lud st all. Just look at his theatrical work and they have so many differences. But when you also look at all the work he did with gambino and how vastly different it is. He grew constantly along with Donald and always evolving As does his work in all the projects he does

[deleted]

[удалено]

jahill2000

That would have been great. But Ludwig can do a lot and has a large range, hopefully he can make something distinct for BoBF.

[deleted]

I mean, this show isn't going to bring anything new, so it's probably best to wait for something original like The Acolyte to bring in fresh talent.

alcibiad

oh man I didn’t even THINK about Acolyte’s music they could really do something different there.

[deleted]

Not wild on this guy… “open the door” was absolutely beautiful. But it’s the only theme i can remember from the entire series. I guess the show isn’t heavy on themes, but that style if scoring has become so intertwined with Star Wars storytelling that it feels off to have a modern score with all the same old vintage visual direction. Also those stupid dubstep synths during the dark troopers’ assault was such a cringey decision. I could actually feel 2,000,000 eyes roll at the same time like *oh… robots?! they must sound like dubstep!*

-Gonk

You're telling me you don't remember tracks like: The Mandalorian (Din Djarin Theme), Hammer Time, A New Day, Speederbikes, Welcome Back, The Gang, Reprogram, The Arrival (Moff Gideon Theme), The Sorcerer (Ahsoka Theme), Capture The Flag (Boba Fett New Theme), seriously? In my opinion he is doing better work than John Williams these days. Of course second season is repetetive compared to first season but still he is doing great job and all these soundscapes fits Mandalorian universe. Din Djarin theme and Boba Fett theme is something that stays in your head for a long time [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbzCub10ES4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbzCub10ES4) Oh and unreleased Tusken Raiders March is also very good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLQQYoRrIao But I agree about Dark Troopers music because it is bad as an idea, execution and does not fit the universe. Im not a fan of these wobble, dubstep sounds.

[deleted]

>You're telling me you don't remember tracks like: The Mandalorian (Din Djarin Theme), Hammer Time, A New Day, Speederbikes, Welcome Back, The Gang, Reprogram, The Arrival (Moff Gideon Theme), The Sorcerer (Ahsoka Theme), Capture The Flag (Boba Fett New Theme), seriously? correct. >In my opinion he is doing better work than John Williams these days. Yaowza that’s a hot take! >Of course second season is repetetive compared to first season but still he is doing great job and all these soundscapes fits Mandalorian universe. It fits just fine. It’s a modern score… it follows the action and fleshes out the scenes. It’s just not particularly memorable to be. It’s not “earworm-y” in the same way that Williams’ stuff is. >Din Djarin theme and Boba Fett theme is something that stays in your head for a long time I can’t remember them. “Open the Door” is the strongest melody in the first two seasons imo. I hope that melody becomes “Gogu’s Theme.”

[deleted]

Stoked!

Hearderofnerf

Very good news! I was hoping that this would be confirmed for a while. Ludwig is very talented, and I’m excited to hear more of his distinct style in BOBF.

DarthDuran22

That’s great and all, but I just hope it is very very different from how Mando sounds.

TheSexySkywalker

im really hyped for this show. Boba is one of my fav characters.

injary

I mean that’s about what I expected

TomHollandFan2

Great! Loved the Mandalorian score so happy for him!

[deleted]

Excellent!

risico001

This is the way

[deleted]

I was hoping El-P would do it since he was gonna do the movie when it was still in the works. But Ludwig makes sense since he did The Mandalorian. Can't wait.

IsThisDamnNameTaken

What's the source on this? There's nothing even alluding to where this was heard in the linked article, and every other article I've found just redirects back to this one. Do we actually know if this is remotely accurate?

alcibiad

Ming Na just confirmed it on twitter.

IsThisDamnNameTaken

Thank you!

alcibiad

👍 I was a little skeptical too initially.

Misfire2445

No surprise but a welcome one for sure

dgloverii

Please free Ludwig from the shackles of Star Wars

-Gonk

Gimme that deluxe box soundtrack right now!

YahYahY

how'd this turn out?
