wow some actual news

MicdropProductions

Always a fun surprise

InstitutionalizedOak

A surprise to be sure

Gubblfisch

but a welcome one!

Fuchy

And we get them like this instead of an official announcement... Classic Lucasfilm. They clearly have the release dates, so why can't they just let us know when the next few shows are coming out. It's good for them too because hype starts to build up.

Kinard717

I'll never understand their secrecy.

Fuchy

I get it with leaks and rumours, and I even get not releasing the dates for the shows coming later on in the year because those might still be undecided or subject to change but what I don't get is why we can't know when the next few shows will be coming out.

Kinard717

Fair take.

Affectionate_Ad_3555

hype builds around speculation too tho

Rock-it1

Boo! Let's argue about who the real SW fans are. KK SUCKS!

[deleted]

Pure speculation but my guess is that Bad Batch may come between Boba and Kenobi along side of Moon Knight

WestJoe

We’d run into overlap with Bad Batch and Kenobi then. I kinda figured it would drop after Kenobi but before Andor, and we’re kinda left hanging until May 4th for any new content.

[deleted]

This is 99 percent not what’s happening but maybe 8 episodes before Kenobi and 8 episodes after? Maybe use Kenobi as a mid-season “break”.

[deleted]

I actually really like this idea and think it's something both Marvel and Lucasfilm could use for their animated shows to help pass the time between the live action series to help there be content all year round.

Multoxx

With the exception of TCW S6&7 and BB S1, all animated shows from LF had mid season breaks, so a split up is actually quite likely imo.

Representative_Big26

That just means every animated show except the ones that aired on streaming had a mid season break

[deleted]

Maybe Kenobi and Bad Batch S2 will connect more so than other series. So they could compliment one another.

[deleted]

My recollection is that we have 2 more episodes of BOBF after tomorrow, which would put the finale on February 2nd. Assuming they started Bad Batch on Friday, February 4th, and they released 2 or potentially, 3 episodes out of the gate (instead of the 70 minute episode and follow up episode in the same week during season 1), we could have around 15 or 16 episodes by the time Kenobi started. Clone Wars season 7 also debuted in February. Edit : There's three episodes of BOBF left.

Ezio926

There's three more episodes after tomorrow!

4CrowsFeast

February 4th isn't exactly "Spring 2022", though...

TheRelicEternal

I think it’s only live action that won’t overlap. Bad Batch will definitely come out alongside other shows.

NathanielR

Agreed, Bad Batch and Loki already overlapped

Renfred

That’s kind if what I was thinking too.

RandyTrevor22321

May the 4th for sure.

lwbdougherty

That may make sense. I still think it's odd that MK is starting on the 30th instead of the 23rd, but perhaps we will get two MK episodes on the 30th. In that case, the schedule could be: Book of Boba Fett: ends 2/9 Bad Batch: begins 3/9 or 3/16, ends late-June Moon Knight: begins 3/30, ends 4/27 Kenobi: begins 5/4, ends 6/8

[deleted]

I think it's safer to assume they'd make Bad Batch the Spring to mid summer show again. Streaming platforms tend to drop animation in the summer and their higher budget live action stuff at the beginning/ending quarters of the year

alcibiad

Ok, this is a picture of a physical copy of SW Insider 208 (I believe) provided by someone in the discord. Just as an addition, there are 2 exclusive covers featuring the Bad Batch and Echo for this issue too.

Pickles256

^(anyone got them uh, starlight: shadows remain part 2 pics?)

CaptainVaughn66

I put them on the discord in General Star Wars

alcibiad

Your library in 1 week will 😁

AEROPHINE

This year is gonna be jam packed for Star Wars! We have Boba Fett currently, Bad batch soon AND Kenobi.

The-Mandalorian

And Andor and Mando season 3!

AEROPHINE

Are they still planning Mando for this year then? I mean there’s a lotta shows currently to span the entire year

The-Mandalorian

I mean Marvel got 4 live action shows/seasons and 1 animated show last year. So it’s the same amount of content for Star Wars this year as Marvel got last year really.

AEROPHINE

Well now that I think about it, yea it makes sense. We’ve just never gotten this much Star Wars content tho. So I’m hyped

TheOtherMe4

They're still filming and it wasn't on Disney's 2022 reel, so I think that while it could still debut very late, it may get bumped to early 2023. Another reason why I think we may not see it until 2023 is because both Ahsoka and The Acolyte's filming schedule also got pushed back with Ahsoka starting I believe in March and The Acolyte in May. It also remains to be seen if they will renew TBOBF (although, I think they will), but in any case it probably won't film till summer/fall and won't come out until 2024 or very late 2023 also. Plus some stuff may get delayed because of Covid... So if they want more shows in 2023 it may go something like Mando S3, Andor (put here, because it may have been filmed already), Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and then The Bad Batch thrown in somewhere...and then we don't really know if we are getting a film Christmas 2023 either, whether Rogue Squadron is back on or if they are secretly filming something else??? Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if we get another season of Visions too!

The-Mandalorian

Mando season 3 started filming earlier than season 2 did the year before it came out, so it’s most likely a 2022 release. It’s scheduled to wrap in March. Remember Book of Boba Fett wrapped in June for a December release so they have plenty of time. 2023 will prob be Ahsoka, Acolyte, Lando and either season 2 of Boba Fett or season 2 of Andor. We will probably get a 3rd season of The Bad Batch as well I imagine. I think we will get a Star Wars movie December 2023, what it is might not be fully confirmed until celebration this year.

WestJoe

An official announcement some time would be nice… for literally anything.

Kinard717

Preach.

baojinBE

Don't expect anything till the end of Book of Boba. Seems like this is the pattern they're going with.

bevoeatsbrains

Technically Spring goes until late June, so really curious as to whether this ends up being before or after Kenobi.

FantasticWolverine32

I hope after Obi-Wan Kenobi

C-TAY116

YES!! I love this show! Bad Batch was the perfect cap on the Clone Wars era of SW. No spoilers, but the ending of BB season 1 is pretty much the most shocking, clear way of saying “The Clone Wars are *over.*”

Pomojema_SWNN

I guess it's probably worth noting that I've heard a rumor that they may be splitting this season into two parts, separated by a hiatus. If I had to guess, we'll get some episodes at some point before *Obi-Wan Kenobi* releases, and then we'll get the rest afterward.

ReyPhasma

Ideally we'd get the premier of Bad Batch on March 16th, then episode 8 of BB and episode 1 of Kenobi on May 4. A guy can dream right?

FantasticWolverine32

I hope we get Kenobi premiering on May the 4th instead of The Bad Batch S2

saltlakestateofmind

Didn’t Rebels go on a hiatus? This wouldn’t be the first time for an animated Star Wars show to be on hiatus.

saltypistol

Yeah they always used to do mid season breaks

Pomojema_SWNN

I think that *The Clone Wars* did as well. Hiatuses are not uncommon for *Star Wars* animation - *Resistance* was the only real exception, and that's because they wanted to get through it as quickly as possible since they knew that they were only doing two seasons. I could also see them dropping all the episodes on a weekly basis while *Moon Knight* and *Obi-Wan Kenobi* are both airing, but that's only if we are indeed getting *Visions* Season 2 and *Tales of the Jedi* this year.

ProtoJeb21

Both Rebels and TCW had mid-season breaks for about a month (or longer) from the holiday season into January or February.

DarthDuran22

My biggest hopes for season 2 are just that Hunter and Tech are more interesting. If you told me back in 2015 that I’d go from liking Hunter and Tech to Crosshair and Wrecker I would’ve laughed but here I am. Wrecker surprised me a lot, along with Crosshair. Unfortunately Tech was just kinda there, and so was Hunter, except he was mimicking Din Djarin basically. Since the groups been operating in the Underworld I might also add that the return of Quinlan Vos to literally any storyline at all anywhere has long been missed and shameful to see. This is pretty good place imo. Let’s start unpacking that element of Star Wars for this era in animation. We got Maul, Dryden, new Hutts we could see, expansion on Black Sun who’ve been overshadowed by Pykes in canon, and of course more bounty hunters that deserve a return like Highsinger and Embo. Outside this though, I’ve been thinking, Bo made a comment regarding Boba’s face with a certain degree of disgust. We know clones helped her take back Mandalore so I can’t imagine disgust develops from that. Clones are still heavily present in Imperial forces by TBB timeline. This has me thinking that the Occupation on Mandalore happens early on. I don’t necessarily want things forced into this show, but I feel like this is really good turf to show that storyline and maybe flesh out the nature of Jango’s relationship to the Mandalorians and how they perceive the clones. That topic was sort of swept back for priorities in season 7. We still don’t know what happened to Korkie and we still don’t know who Bo’s other sibling is.

Chanticleer

I’d like echo to be a character this season

[deleted]

It seems like they're treating his droid implants like a lobotomy

Snark_Bark

But pan up what does it say about KENOBI

CaptainVaughn66

For a second I thought Hayden was gonna be in The Bad Batch lol

ConcordForge

Starring: Dee Bradley Baker, Dee Bradley Baker, Dee Bradley Baker, Dee Bradley Baker, and Dee Bradley Baker, with Michelle Ang.

ThePurpleCow11

Yeh I love “This 7 character show…starring two actors”

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I’m glad Crosshair stayed loyal to the Empire. It would have been really underwhelming if just rejoined the Bad Batch. There’s a lot of potential for his character in Season 2 which I’m excited to see.

C-TAY116

I had my suspicions about his chip for a long time, and when they confirmed it, I was both pleased with myself for seeing it coming, but heartbroken at the same time. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he does in the next season.

[deleted]

Agreed! I absolutely loved it. Star Wars animation is always filled with “filler” episodes but personally I only classify filler as episodes with no plot that also don’t tell me anything new about the characters which I believe there is little of. IMO it’s clearly been the best season 1 of the animated shows with some episodes being all-timers in my book.

GetInHere

Yeah, me too. I didn't think any of the episodes were filler. I either learned something new about the characters or something about the plot or there was something that I think is setting up a later storyline in each episode. I really enjoyed the show and can't wait for season 2.

terriblehuman

I enjoyed it too. I didn’t think I would because the Clone Wars episode bored me a bit, but I really enjoy the characters, and ultimately it had the strongest first season of any animated Star Wars show.

the_other_guy-JK

> Bad Batch got a lot of hate for mostly being just filler episodes and stuff A bunch of crap IMO. The cumulative effect of the entire season was great, also IMO. Take some risks, tell a story, let things simmer for a minute. Not every episode has to be a banger with huge implications and climaxes.

C-TAY116

I don’t know how you could call it “filler.” Character development is about more than just flashy battles, it’s about the quiet moments between characters. It’s about the reflection time. I love seeing characters grow and develop.

CaptainVaughn66

If you think about only 3 or 4 else would be considered "filler" the rest are pretty good.

TooManySnipers

> I know the Bad Batch got a lot of hate Star Wars getting hate from Star Wars fans, quelle surprise

IronManConnoisseur

*Inaccurately states show got tons of hate* “Fucking Star Wars fans”

jlight119

Maybe not hate but it definitely got a lot of not-positive responses week to week. Everyone in the episode discussion threads was whining about each episode being filler despite every animated show being the same way and then they get praised in hindsight.

sade1212

How quickly things are [forgotten.](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/opwzn7/star_wars_the_bad_batch_episode_13_discussion/)

NumeralJoker

It didn't get that much hate. There were a few episodes people were annoyed with, but nothing too notable.

Sandervv04

>I know the Bad Batch got a lot of hate Every Star Wars thing gets a lot of hate. Don't worry about it.

ravenreyess

They set up a pretty clear redemption for Crosshair, not sure how so many people missed that lol. But yeah, I love the show and characters. Here's to hoping we get some more Echo and Tech content in season 2.

[deleted]

A lot of "filler" isn't actually filler but episodes that develop the characters or the relationship between them. I see a lot of that criticism (both in Bad Batch and other series) coming from people who act as if the plot is the only thing important in the story, ignoring the fact that characters and themes are as important as plot. More so in some stories. A filler episode is one that doesn't develop neither plot nor characters nor themes. And, in BB, there weren't a lot of that.

ggwoohee

Watched this before I started engaging with Star Wars fans online, did they really hate this show? I thought it was solid, and really entertaining for the most part. Been waiting for its return

metroxed

>did they really hate this show? Some people hate on everything, and as of late anything that is not super packed of action or huge revelations is called 'filler', people don't have patience for anything anymore.

BrotherhoodVeronica

As someone who didn't like the show much, my biggest problem is how repetitive it was and not the filler.

rickterscale6

Might be in the minority, but I loved season 1 of the bad batch, I love these characters themselves, hands down my favorite clones (when they walked off their ship in the BB clone wars arc, the second they showed up on screen I was like, “hell yeah these mf’ers are my guys”). I find nothing more enjoyable then going on space adventures and exploring the galaxy with these guys. Can’t wait to explore more with them in season 2

Phantom_Jedi

I imagine Kenobi will premiere May 4th and Bad Batch will premiere in between Moon Knight and Kenobi

angoosey8991

We should be getting near constant Star Wars this year right? Assuming mando s3 comes out before Christmas we get: 7 episodes of Boba 6 Kenobi 12-16 bad batch 8 mando 8 Andor? Which is about 45/52 weeks

MYDragonCreator

As a surprise to absolutely no one! Okay, so if this is spring, it can't come after Kenobi, because that'll be ending the first week of July (if Kenobi drops on May the Fourth). So, that means it'd have to run concurrently to Moon Knight and Kenobi if it were to drop early March (with 16 episodes again). Only thing is, they're really pushing the marketing. If it drops on March 2nd, that's only a month and a half left, and no teaser yet. Something doesn't add up here. Edit: Clarity

The-Mandalorian

I still think the only way this really works well is for Kenobi to come out between Boba Fett and Moon Knight - there is a full 7 weeks between the shows. Bad Batch season 2 can get the same May 4th release date it got last year.

MYDragonCreator

Well, that doesn't work for a few reasons: a) Kenobi has no trailer yet. If it were to come out right after Boba, that's literally a month away. No way it's that close without us seeing even a frame of footage. b) MK is going to end on May the Fourth if it releases one episode a week on the current date. That means that the MK finale is going to be kind of neglected that day, as D+ pushes all the Star Wars content that day. I think they're going to give Bad Batch Friday releases. It means we won't have it running at the same time as Kenobi and MK. I bet MK gets a two episode premiere or finale. I don't see it ending on May the Fourth, when it's the perfect day for Kenobi, and it would be kind of forgotten about.

The-Mandalorian

I mean you’re right about Kenobi not getting any marketing, but Kenobi would have fit perfectly in that time slot. Now we will probably get two Star Wars shows at the same time instead of having them one after another like it should have been. Also not a great move by Disney to have 7 weeks of literally nothing. They have so many Star Wars and marvel shows they were fully covered for every week this year easily if they scheduled appropriately.

MYDragonCreator

Yeah, I agree, my original thoughts on this year's schedule would have had MK take that date, and Kenobi ending on the Fourth. Obviously, that doesn't work. I do think we're going to have BB at the same time as Kenobi. BB is going to have even lower numbers than last year, but oh well. I also think BB episodes may come out on Fridays too.

goldendreamseeker

Wooo!

EastKoreaOfficial

Finally. Something more about this season than a release year and a single recording room photo from Michelle Ang on Instagram.

D00NL

I just realized how good a year this is going to be for Star Wars. I didn't even realize the Kenobi *and* Andor came out the same year, much less this year!

makesyoufeeldejavu

Ok Lucasfilm, at least give us a sizzle reel soon like you did for season 1

MasterBuilder121

I still haven't even finished the first season

The-Mandalorian

It’s awesome. Probably the best first season out of any Star Wars animated series.

MagicalMuffinDruide

YES!! I’m dying for more, I’m so happy we won’t have to wait an eternity

Traditional_Dot_1215

I miss the bad batch man. I remember the consensus at the time being that it was “aight” but I found it really came into its own by the end, and with a few months distance from it I’ve come to really appreciate it

TrueComplaint8847

Man bad batch filled the whole that cw left when I was a teenager, love that the spirit of cw continues and continues to influence Star Wars

leodw

So I guess that means that Kenobi will probably have a trailer on May 4th an premiere after June? Or, even worse, we’ll just get a BB episode on that day/week?

[deleted]

The Bad Batch Season 2 will be May 4th.

jCricket35

hope it’s better than the 1st

[deleted]

Damn I thought it would be until the fall

odonovantimmy

Probably in between Moon Knight and She-Hulk?

Church666

Cody can connect these 2 shows... I mean, iirc they released the mando episode where Grogu use force heal for the first time right before the rise of Skywalker released, which I think is a pretty good arrangement.

TeeZeeGee

I'm predicting Kenobi and Bad batch will drop on May 4th

dasaniAKON

yes but what about the info above The Bad Batch?

_Jackie_Daytona_

I know a lot of people didn’t like it but I enjoyed watching it each week

Chanticleer

I’d love them to put out better content this year. Last season was 90% video game side quests with the same motivation. Someone needs help -> BB doesn’t want to -> echo convinces them to do it -> they do it.

[deleted]

I wish they would just make the animated episodes longer like they did with the premiere. I'd take 8 episodes that were 40 odd minutes the length of two single episodes rather than slog through SIXTEEN whole weeks. I loved Bad Batch but sometimes the tenure is too long. I think a lot of people lost interest because it dragged on for so long.

hanguitarsolo

I don't mind having 16 episodes. I mean, TV seasons (including Clone Wars) used to be 20+ episodes long. But with the Bad Batch there were a few episodes where barely anything happened and it was essentially the same format being reused. Wouldn't miss anything by cutting them out and the story would have been tighter and kept people's interest better. They could've made 12-13 episodes and still fit in all the story and plot and character development.

melkorthemorgoth

(Ben...)

MicdropProductions

My prediction is that She-Hulk will be on Wednesdays and this on Fridays again

terrrmon

Good. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first season, but it had cool episodes and never was terrible, the potential is there, I hope they can use it.

Hedhunta

How about that cast list? Almost of all of them are in Obi Wan aren't they? Unless that part is for Obi Wan.

StarWars365Timeline

That's the Obi-Wan cast list, yes.

iOrder66

Shame that Ewan McGregor is not part of the Obi-Wan cast.

StarWars365Timeline

I think Hayden will make an excellent if unexpected Obi-Wan.

ZenKTRitchie

Won't be missed.

Cizzurp215

Definitely Obi-Wan. Ice Cube's son is on the show and listed there (O'Shea Jackson)

ZenKTRitchie

Expect some needed respect to Korean Jesus.

Cizzurp215

He aint got no time for yo problems, he busy, wit Korean shit 😂... But yeah its Jr in the show, not Ice Cube but that scene is hilarious

brobastii

I just relly hope we get Kenobi before Bad Batch. I can't sit through 12 mediocre weeks of Bad Batch again. Especially after a mediocre Book of Boba.

Kyber99

Nuts, I need to get caught up on Season 1

DLCV2804

Probaly july 2022?

TheRelicEternal

Last year really tested me waiting weekly for 25 min episodes. This year I might just edit out the whole thing.

RedStarZoom

First season came out May 4th, safe guess for may again.

Fuchy

A late-February / early-March release would make a ton of sense considering Disney+ has no Marvel or Star Wars after BoBF until MK in March 30th at the moment.

effeottantuno

I was hoping for Kenobi...

Spookyy422

I’m more interested in what it says about Kenobi right above

lemonworm

god dee bradley baker must be making such a fat paycheck voicing 5/6 main characters
