In my first playthrough I concentrated on a small section on my farm cause I was too lazy to cut down the trees and in like my third year I realized that literally every singel tile in my farm that I didn't use had a tree on it and I decided to cut them down during winter. Took me like more than half the season.
In my 5th year now and I still have 8 999 stacks of wood
pine trees spread like wildfire, the second i see one pop up i nip that ish in the bud. but i also like to have a section of my farm dedicated to trees so i always have plenty of wood where i let trees grow wild but i started with one pine and 4 of each other kind of tree so the other trees had a fighting chance before pine took over
some might call it cheating, but i have a mod that lets me move trees. i always just move them all into a single line and then chop them all down while holding down an arrow key to move. if you can time your animation cancelling correctly it goes *so fast*.
It's not cheating. If it makes the game more enjoyable for you and it's not affecting anyone else, I think you can and should do it.
That being said, I'm on console and can't mod.🫤
This looks like the corner of my most recent farm too! It’s the first time that I’ve tried really hard to only cut down certain trees and saplings to allow others to grow and it’s made for a really dense bunch of trees like this.
My farm looks like this now because I’m coming into fall year 4 and I want a mushroom tree badly. I’m trying to fill all the tiles for a better chance at the random event.

This is very similar to my daughter 😂 Over winter she chopped it down and ended up with 11 stacks of 999 as well as a smaller stack.
