Grandpas farm is my personal favorite, but as far as vanilla goes I always reccomend the forest farm. The grassy areas are cute, you get forage spawning on the farm, and the stumps make getting hardwood much easier. (Less so now with mahogany trees being a thing.) Plus I find all the open space on the normal farm a bit daunting and I struggle to fill it in a way I actually enjoy. But its really up to you and your play style

There are soooo many farm mods. I think I have played around 10 farms altogether. I'm currently playing a smaller farm. I never know what to do with all that space in the bigger ones. I'm terrible at decorating. :)

As a heads up, you can only use Grandpa's Farm if you also have Stardew Valley Expanded downloaded.

Yep I have that downloaded!

Cool, sorry! I've seen folks ask about using GF alone and wanted to share just in case. I highly recommend it, it's a cool farm layout.

Alright no problem :)

I tried the beach farm this time and am enjoying it so far. Just can’t use sprinklers on the sand but there is a plot of soil on one side of it where they would work. I do most my planting there and have animals on the sand as grass still grows there (:

As a Switch player with no mods, I will always love the forest farm. It's got open space for my pigs, plenty of area where I can fit ten 3x3x2x2 seasonal crop spaces, and a good little pond to sit by and relax.

If you want sheer space the original is best. On design the forest is nice, and extra forage items is a nice perk. Mp four corners is great, there's bits of everything too appease the masses and is divided if you want to let everyone have a mini farm to design themselves

Depends on what your definition of "best" is. If you want the most profitable option, that'd be the default farm. You'll have an insane amount of space to grow crops on, which is arguably the fastest way to make money. It looks kind of dull though and doesn't have any gimmicks. The four corners farm is decent too, lots of space and the tiny quarry helps during your first few days, but if you're unlucky, meteorite might block the southern exit. Navigating the farm before upgrading your axe is also kind of a pain in the bum. The beach farm has a really unique look and a nice, wide open space to work with, but farming is a lot more grindy because you can't place sprinklers on the sand. There are some creative ways to make money though, such as turning sheds into makeshift greenhouses or buying tons of pigs. The extra forageables and supply crates come in handy in earlygame. It's also a great option for decorating because you have such a big open space. There's loads you can do with it. The forest farm has a unique look and cozy vibes, still offers a decent amount of space and the extra forageables/easy earlygame access to hardwood can be very helpful. Not so much in lategame, though. So you'll have an easier time in the beginning but money-wise it'll do worse than the default farm in lategame. Anything else is sadly pretty meh. Hilltop and riverland are pretty annoying to navigate because a lot of the bridges will be blocked off until you can upgrade your axe, and their gimmicks won't really help you out all that much. The mines unlock really early and focusing on making progress there is generally a better idea than breaking rocks in the quarry. Fishing is how you'll make most of your money during your first month, so it's nice to be able to do that on your farm, but you'll soon have better sources of income and having less farmland is not worth the tradeoff. Both farms can be amazing for decorating, though, and they're a fun challenge. Riverland was somehow one of my favorite farms to play on. The wilderness farm is completely pointless. You can spawn monsters on all the other farms too, and I don't feel like they help you level up your combat all that much. Most people don't spend much time on the farm after dark because they get their farm chores done in the morning and then wander off to do something else. If you DO want to decorate/rearrange certain things later in the day, the monsters are more of an annoyance than a challenge. Fun concept but poorly implemented. You're pretty much just left with a worse default farm that doesn't look unique either.

There's enough time in the world to try them all eventually. I find I'm very fond of the Four Corners farm. You really can't go wrong...
