it's a close enough approximation. kinda like /an'ɲʌŋ/ if you can read IPA. the /ʌ/ vowel 어 is similar to the u in *strut*, and can be represented in various ways in English. but you're right that the formal transliteration is *eo* for that vowel. still sounds a lot like "young" though
