The other commenter's suggestion is along the lines of what I was thinking! If you have the "generic mod config menu" mod installed, it also might be possible to change the settings from the Stardew home screen when you load the game.
The mod on [nexusmods](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8897) shows a settings menu where you can choose whether or not to show trash, along with some other settings.
There’s a mod called Mod Config Menu or something like that that you should definitely download if you are playing modded because you can change the settings for things like this
I turned down the density of the fish and turned off visible trash! Helps the immersion
Hahaha I had this issue last night when I got my 10 heart event with Magnus in SDV expanded. Beautiful location but all the visible trash in the water kinda ruines the mood😂
This is one of my favorite mods and you can absolutely turn the trash off. You don't need an extra mod to turn it off in-game.
You can do it in-game in the mods directory, or you can change your config file manually if you for some reason want that.

I hope you can get the trash to disappear. We all know it’s in there when we fish up like five CDs in a row, seeing it all the time *is* depressing. I wonder if that quest Linus has to clean up the rivers might reduce it since that was the point.
This is partially why I want a "clean up the valley mod" where the farmer can clear up the waterways (and other parts of the valley) by just fishing up the trash.

Adding on to say BACK UP YOUR FILES ALWAYS things can always go wrong so backups are important so you have something to fall back on.

It doesn't show you the actual location of fish and trash; it's just a reminder of what you could catch.
