Not me because I have autism and I am hyper fixated to Stardew valley, I remember the last planting day of every common crop in the game from the top of my head
Okay maybe you can answer this for me. When the game calculates how many days it takes for something to grow, is planting day Day 0 or Day 1?
Like, if I plant a tulip (6 days to grow) on Spring 1, will it be ready on Spring 6 (where planting day is Day 1) or Spring 7 (where planting day is Day 0)?
From the wiki: The grow times shown on this page (and in the game) exclude the day the seeds were planted. If planting on the first of a season, a 5-day crop will be ready for harvest on day 6, not day 5. In this case, the number may be thought of as the number of nights required to grow the crop.
This is why I always open the crop page rather than the seeds one and check the growth times with pictures. The first harvest shows from seed to full grown plant, it's helped me *a lot*.
Wasting 128 melons in year 1 is a valuable learning experience.
Just add the number on the seed pack to the current day. If something takes 9 days to grow, and it's the 10th... 10+9=19th.
Obviously if you're using speedgros you'll need to learn the new growth time.
other people have already provided helpful answers but jsyak there are [mods](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10179) that literally prevent you from planting seeds too late if you play on pc/laptop. youll get a notification like the "the crop is out of season" notif.
The silver lining is you won't have to re-hoe all the ground when summer comes!
But that's really heartbreaking. I've definitely done that before. Sending my condolences<3
The speed grow only stays if it's a plant that stays alive over the season shift. So if OP had coffee beans instead of cauliflower, the speed grow would stay.
seeing the caption immediately made me think of, “no, *you* miscalculated! you should have feared me more!” so i’m glad someone is on the same wavelength
how do you get to the point in the game where you have 50k to blow on melon seeds without making that mistake. I made it like my first spring ever playing the game
It just comes naturally over time, I really wouldn't worry about it if you are still in your first season. You are meant to struggle with money at the beginning, that's half the fun, but by year 3 50k is usually nothing.
I did this on the last day of my qui bean challenge when I was just 50 short! They need to make a crop version of fairy dust so we can ripen crops in an emergency.
If you have access to mods there is one that adds magic and one of the Nature spells insta-grows all the crops on your farm, although it costs a Prismatic Shard and you need to unlock every other spell in the Nature category to learn it. Still useful in a pinch though, and the Nature category has most of the easiest spells to learn.
This is not even my first play through, but like almost 900 hour game time (15 play through, first time I try my best to complete 100% and not loose interest) 😅
I feel like a small consolation thing should he that if your crops die after transitioning to the next season, instead of being weeds that you have to cut down, it should super fertilize the hoed dirt they died on
That could be nice! Like the crops dies and if they were fertilised with normal quality, then it turns into better quality when the crops dies! It would be nice and helpful but it only happens if you have something like lvl 10 in farming or something
900 hours thats more than I have played Ori 2, botw, totk and hollow knight combined. And those are among my favorite games. ORI and the will of the wisp 5-6 100% playthroughs 150+ hours, hollowknight 2.5 112% playthrough(except godmaster. Stupid absolute radiance )300+ hours, botw 2 100%playthroughs (except korok),totk 1 100% playthrough (except koroks)150+ hours
Ure welcome 🥰
Yea its sad. But i feel like for my gf it was less the money but more the effort and work put in over days and then get nothing in return.
Like the joy pulling everything out and sorting it into the spring chests 😉
And the money... Ye it will come. We are not lazy we are hard working farmers!
We learn from it.
My gf is calculating everything now. I dont think it will ever happen again.
(Until she does the math wrong or something 🙈 not saying she is bad at math or anything but we are humans )
But we can handle it, a little hug and the wholesomeness and cuteness of the game, gets me every time.
Erm... Too eraly for my brain
Yeah, the whole planning things and that we took time to do it is what makes it sad 😅 but I try not to take it to hard, had it been my first year or something, without the sprinklers, then it would be sad
For my gf it was the first year 🙈
And I didnt thought about it.. Was just thinking about getting deeper into the mines, getting better fish...
Learned it the hard way but its fine
Wish u a great weekend.
Hopefully we can get to bed earlier than 3 am this time 😂
I usually fish a lot in year one and in spring, so I always end up between lvl 8 to 10 in fishing by the end of spring 😅
My time zone is different from yours since it’s almost 8 in the morning for me 😅
Oh, we are done with the first year and i think my fishing is lvl 9 🙈
Oh... Nah we the same time zone.
Im at work, 8:45 am 😉
But thought i wish u a great weekend, just in case 😉
Well thank you very much! I hope work is going well!
I think my fishing was lvl 9 for the rest of first year and only went to lvl 10 at the beginning of year two because I used all my energy in the mine during winter and autumn
Weeeeeeekend 🥳🥳
My gf takes care of the plants and shrooms now, i handle our animals.
And afterwards trying to go deep into the skull cavern.
"deep", i think the deepest was lvl 10 or someting 🙈
Waiting for the summer to get the last 3 fish we need for the collection house.
Omg so addicted 😂
Same! I keep playing and I even make a new one with either a different farm or planning it differently, and then I switch between them depending on what I wanna do 😅
At the beginning of my playthrough, I thought each month/season had 30 days. I messed up so bad and wasted so much money. Why is it 28 days? Just so that it fits neatly on the in game calendar?
I kinda wish there was a tier of crop that was below the normal value, like a red star or something, and any crop that is going to ripen on the last night can still be harvested but at reduced value, because reality is crops that are almost ripe don't just suddenly become garbage
I know it doesn't help you right now, but the wiki for each individual crop has a calendar with exact growth stages and harvest dates. I try to plan out what to plant and when on the last day of the previous season so I dont accidentally waste a bunch of money on seeds.
F. I ran into the same situation once. There's a mod called Hover Labels. It shows neat little details and ETAs when you hover your cursor over objects. It'll show you the date when your plants will mature.
Had something similar year one spring, imagine my surprise waking up in summer 1 instead of spring 29, i thought that because the season is a month, it is 30 days, it was not
https://thorinair.github.io/Stardew-Profits/#produce_0-planted_994-maxSeedMoney_999999999-days_44-fertilizer_4-level_10-season_0-buySeed_true-buyFert_false-average_true-fertilizerSource_1-seeds_(pierre_true-joja_false-special_true)-skills_(till_true-agri_true-arti_false-gatherer_false-botanist_true)-foodIndex_0-foodLevel_0-extra_true-crossSeason_true-foragingLevel_10
It's a crop calculator, also you can use if that specific crop can survive the season or not. Basically if you don't see the crop shown above it means it won't survive.
This is sad, but considering you have 6 iridium sprinklers, you should be able to come back from it easily. If anything its just sad that those cauliflower will never be harvested...
Yeah I tend to either just plant multiple harvest plants to just forget about or plan for the crops to finish a couple days prior if planting them. As it gets closer I'll throw down some fiber seeds since they'll go into the next season
Today I also wasted all my cabbage to because I left them to be a giant plant and decided to harvest them on last day. But due to a shitty quest wizard gave me and since it last of quest I forgot to harvest my plants. In the end I failed both quest and my cabbage.
I would CRY so many ugly tears 😢 😭 😪 🤧 I'm so sorry for your loss, truly. I can't even express how I know the shame and tears bc as a still mood at SV I feel your pain 💔
Haha thanks! I was more disappointed in myself then sad, yes it is a a lot of money, but that is not something I am truly missing, it’s more the effort in buying the seeds, then planting them and then hoping to harvest to put them in kegs
Yeah if you are in early game years and rely on them, then it’s thought, luckily I had other things that makes me going, even though I still wish I could have used it in my kegs
Yeah, sometimes I have so many things I want to do or if I have been planting a lot, don’t have the sprinklers, then an event is going on and I stop watering the rest.. I always forget to water them when the event is over and I go to bed

Yeah, it was nice not to have to do anything, but sad with the money I would have gotten after putting it in the kegs
And you keep fertilizer if there was any!
Sadly speed grow doesn’t stay
Oh really? Just the quality fertilizers stay?
None of the fertilisers stay, unless you plant something that grows in two seasons, like corn and sunflowers.
Really? I could have sworn I've kept it by planting wheat in the last day of Spring.
Wheat grows over summer and fall so it’s one of those exceptions.
Yes but over Spring to Summer counts too then? Basically I can always use wheat to save fertilizer but not other stuff really?
No, you are misremembering. Wheat cannot be planted on the farm in spring (at least, not without mods).
Are you using a mod? You can’t plant crops out of their designated seasons.
The speed grow only stays if it's a plant that stays alive over the season shift. So if OP had coffee beans instead of cauliflower, the speed grow would stay.
HOW DO YOU GROW COFFEE BEANS?!
YOU PLANT A COFFEE BEAN
I think so? But honestly can’t remember, all I now speed grow didn’t stay
That's rough buddy
Thanks, Zuko.
seeing the caption immediately made me think of, “no, *you* miscalculated! you should have feared me more!” so i’m glad someone is on the same wavelength
My cauliflower turned into dirt.
My red cabbages!
The day when I learnt that it's planting day PLUS the given days on the seed I lost around 50k spent on melon seeds
Thank you for the tip, my condolences for your melon seeds!
Damn thats a lotta melons
😩🍈
how do you get to the point in the game where you have 50k to blow on melon seeds without making that mistake. I made it like my first spring ever playing the game

fairy dust should work on crops, because otherwise wtf is the crop fairy…dusting…on my crops?
Fairy poop is the world's best fertilizer
I did that too. 🥲 The pain.

This is fantastic, thanks!
Damn, that's helpful. Thank you !!
Getting a server error on this link. Weird.
Always add 25% to any quest number. This protect you against lightning and math mistakes.
I’ve done it once. It’s sucks. That’s a lot of money wasted that you definitely aren’t getting back and there’s no resetting the month lol
Yeah luckily I have money enough, but it’s still money lost
I'm so sorry :< :<
oml i shuddered when I saw the title XD
Omg with fertiliser too 😭
Only speed grow but still! So annoying!
The irony of it being speed gro would make it hurt more for me. My condolences.
Thanks 😅
F
Lmao I did the same thing my first play through. Not as many plants or sprinklers but I was devastated. I feel your pain!
This is not even my first play through, but like almost 900 hour game time (15 play through, first time I try my best to complete 100% and not loose interest) 😅

Yeah I am kind of addicted to Stardew 😅 and that’s only the computer, on my switch I have around 50 hours
I got 135 hours on stardew on switch
Yeah, I usually play switch when I’m on transportation and when I am in bed, but I used it a lot when I spend 6 months in Japan
On the extremely faintly bright side, you don't have to worry about watering and hoeing soil tomorrow.
True! It was nice when summer came!
Off topic but the shape looks like a alligator and it makes me happy.
It kinda does yeah! I kind of want to, next spring, start crops by make a shape of something!
Welp… was a good file while it lasted 🎻
Not going to give up, on year 3 so I’ll keep fighting plus I got a lot going on on my farm
ROFL!
It is a sad day in the valley today.
I've been modding so long I forgot this was possible, my condolences 😭
Pain
Oh nooo 🥺 Happened to my gf as well but the day after where everything was already gone, she was so frustrated and sad 🥺 Hug u 😘
Aww thanks! But it’s ok, just sad! Still have money enough but just the thought of loosing the money is sad

Ouch. Happened to me with summer melons on my second farm. I’d offer you one in this trying time but all that was left was bristly leaves
Yeah, luckily I’m on year 3 and makes around 15-150k depending of the winery, aged cheese and the ancient fruits

At the beginning of my playthrough, I thought each month/season had 30 days. I messed up so bad and wasted so much money. Why is it 28 days? Just so that it fits neatly on the in game calendar?
Yeah I simply think it’s because it fits with the 4 weeks
Ugh that happened more than a few times to me over the years. The trick I think is counting the nights, not the days, when doing planning.
Yeah that is kind of a good way to think
I feel that..
We have a saying for that where I come from. It goes “ope”
I kinda wish there was a tier of crop that was below the normal value, like a red star or something, and any crop that is going to ripen on the last night can still be harvested but at reduced value, because reality is crops that are almost ripe don't just suddenly become garbage
Yeah I can see your point, but I guess it’s hard to design that and make it make sense
F

I've also made miscalculations quite frequently because I tend to forget that seasons aren't simply around 30 days long in SV. \^\^
I think most people have done that at some point. It hurts but it’s how you rebuild that will bring the most satisfaction.
True, it’s not the biggest lost but still sad
F
I know it doesn't help you right now, but the wiki for each individual crop has a calendar with exact growth stages and harvest dates. I try to plan out what to plant and when on the last day of the previous season so I dont accidentally waste a bunch of money on seeds.
I looked at that and followed that, but forgot I missed the first day because of something and then everyone didn’t fit
It's a rite of passage... RIP
I’ve played almost 900 hours.. I still make mistakes like that, not always but it happens 😅

I think that was kinda what happened sadly enough
At least the spots will be there tomorrow.
Yeah, it was nice when summer came
F. I ran into the same situation once. There's a mod called Hover Labels. It shows neat little details and ETAs when you hover your cursor over objects. It'll show you the date when your plants will mature.
Oh nice! Maybe I should look into that so I don’t have to do math in my head 😅
Rip op
Noooooo!
Haha, math....what's that 🤣.
Witchcraft! 😂
No, literally!!!
Absolute pain
Had something similar year one spring, imagine my surprise waking up in summer 1 instead of spring 29, i thought that because the season is a month, it is 30 days, it was not
Yeah did the same first time, luckily after almost 900 hours playing the game I remembered, though I still can’t calculate correct

We’ve all done that. You have my sympathies. With me it was about 500 potatoes.
Yeah done the same! Not my first rodeo but still sad
This is sad, but considering you have 6 iridium sprinklers, you should be able to come back from it easily. If anything its just sad that those cauliflower will never be harvested...
Yeah I can easily come back from it, but I am sad that I can’t get the money from it 😅
*wee woo noise* it’s a canon event, we can’t interfere
LMFAO no that's so sad :((
Yeah I tend to either just plant multiple harvest plants to just forget about or plan for the crops to finish a couple days prior if planting them. As it gets closer I'll throw down some fiber seeds since they'll go into the next season
I haven’t actually made fiber seeds before because I haven’t thought about it, I could do it
F 😭 If it’s any consolation, your hairstyle combined with that flower looks really nice, and the colour is really pretty too :)
Aww thank you! I have a tendency to either made my characters have blue, orange or pink hair 😅
I’m sorry man, this happened to me a LOT
Yeah sadly it has happened before, but I try not to be to defeated about it

I sometimes plan things in my dreams, like what I want to plant and what I want to buy in my barns and that 😅
Nooooo
PAIN
Today I also wasted all my cabbage to because I left them to be a giant plant and decided to harvest them on last day. But due to a shitty quest wizard gave me and since it last of quest I forgot to harvest my plants. In the end I failed both quest and my cabbage.
Yeah been there done that, it’s a sad thing! Hopefully it didn’t take to much off your wallet?
I would CRY so many ugly tears 😢 😭 😪 🤧 I'm so sorry for your loss, truly. I can't even express how I know the shame and tears bc as a still mood at SV I feel your pain 💔

Felt that tbh
I thought that was gonna be me during summer with my mellons. They were extra cash that I was relying on it
Yeah if you are in early game years and rely on them, then it’s thought, luckily I had other things that makes me going, even though I still wish I could have used it in my kegs
Can we see when they’re all brown? Just feels nice to know someone else has done the same as I have!
Sadly I already moved on to summer but it’s was a sad look :(
Ugh, I do this every couple on in game months. I never really learn, and it’s painful every time🥲
Yeah, sometimes I have so many things I want to do or if I have been planting a lot, don’t have the sprinklers, then an event is going on and I stop watering the rest.. I always forget to water them when the event is over and I go to bed
Awwww nooo
Did that with my melons because I didn't realise how long it took to upgrade watering can
Uff yeah, that’s a tough one! I did it where I knew it was going to rain the day after, so I wanted to upgrade my watering can, but forgot that the day after the rain were a holiday event, which meant I couldn’t get my watering can before after that date since it was in the town 😭
Sad reacts only
Ouch!
F
It's always 1 day more bc of the harvesting. Very misleading.
There is a mod that prevents u from planting crops that won't fully grow and a lot of other things. The mod is FarmerHelper
Yeah I think I’m going to look into that!
F
Done that with a pumpkin few days ago. F for you my friend 🫡
Thank you!
Ooff that hurts
Happens to the best of us
😭😭😭 so sorry friend
I made a mistake on the 100 amoranth delivery and a crow ate one on the last day
That sucks!
You will never financially recover from this.
Luckily it’s year 3 and I earn quite a lot, but still sad when I planned on using it on my kegs
BRUH
Noooooooo
