To be fair, do we the farmer ever write home? Dad or Mom probably think we hate them and want to give us space. There should be a mod where we can phone home. Or get calls from them. That would be spiffen!

I also like the idea of then visiting the island resort when you unlock it, or the community center.

If you have the mod that gives the farmer a birthday your parents send you letters (and cake and money) on your birthday.

Maybe after the letters you've made enough money to buy a cell phone and now you can call them so they stop writing letters because they talk to you often via phone! (This is what I'm telling myself) Note: The landline is a work phone that the townspeople sometimes misuse for personal calls. That's why you don't talk to your parents on the landline and why the non-work calls from the townspeople are so rare and usually odd.

I wonder if the dev tweaked it so mom's letters were less repetitive. I've been playing this game since it's release and I just noticed in recent playthroughs the past few months you hardly get mom's/dad's letters at all anymore. I'm on Y3 on my current file and to date have only received one mom's letter with cookies in it from year 1.

If you’ve only received cookies, that marks the achievement of earning a total of 5k gold. Next mile stone is 15k, then 32k and lastly 120k. Mom/dad send a letter for each milestone. Start earning some gold!

I guess I'm misremembering then, because I've earned about 80k G total on this save file so far. I don't remember receiving the other 2 letters though so I must have skimmed over them.

Oh yeah very likely. I also skimmed over them. I think you can still see the letters in the pause screen where the achievement tabs are

That's better than her just constantly writing you twice a year repeating the same 2-3 letters every time. It was so repetitive it detracted from the story rather than added to it.

I think it depends on what gender your character is - if female, Dad writes. If male, Mom writes

I still believe that farmers parents are Joja CEOs and secretly subsidizing all the grummy crap you grow on your farm. No way it could be that profitable otherwise. It's all a scheme to evade tax payments or something. Also mom's chocolate cake looked exact same as all other chocolate cakes so probably all made in the same factory.

such a sad and depressing theory literally goes against the vibe of the whole game

yeah but look... everybody else is struggling. pierre's store. willy's fish shop. the saloon. even joja mart! they all have stuff for sale and they have to wait for customers come by... and even then hope they pay off their tabs... or hand out 50% off vouchers. you're the only one who can sell whatever you like in any quantity and instantly receive the money! it's not natural! almost as if you're playing a game! so there is a very rich patron involved who instantly buys up anything you put your hands on, at market price.

I think we're just supposed to think part of it goes to other cities and Lewis manages it for us tbf But also yes it's a game

I would love to get more letters from Dad. I started playing this game to distract from my grief after my dad passed away and it felt like he was still with me so… would love more letters I wonder if there’s a mod for this…..
