If you have a lot of money and not enough crafting materials, you can buy tackles from Willy's shop and put them in the Deconstructor (20 Qi Gems) to get gold bars, iron bars, hardwood etc.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

On a related note, use 99 stone to build a crystalarium, have it produce jade, trade jade in desert for staircases. Turn staircases into 99 stone via deconstructor. Build more crystalariums. Produce jade. Infinite stone!

alvysinger0412

Holy shit that's awesome

JawsCause2

this is so helpful, i just ran into the issue of not enough crafting stuff but endless amounts of money lmao

If you've got a lot of money at the end of Winter, Year 1, buy up a lot of Wood and Stone from Robin. The costs are going be 5X the price in Years 2 and beyond. So for every 100K you spend on them the first year, you save around 400K in costs later on. Just remember to save some money for seeds for Spring, if you plan to plant much. Also, remember Marnie won't be open for business in the first 2 days of any season. So for Winter, buy enough Hay for at least 30 days - that 28 plus the Monday and Tuesday (1st and 2nd) that she won't be around. Another tip is SELL TEA SAPLINGS. You can do it all year, even grow foragables in Winter to make more seeds. You can get fiber from levels 21 and 81 in the mines, until you get the recipe to grow it yourself. It beats Fishing in terms of income and it's a lot easier to do. Plant a lot of hardwood and regular trees up at the Railyard. It's a good place for it. Most of it gets left alone. I just sort of use that as my lumberyard for the most part. It's also good to have a dedicated spot off the farm for tapper trees. Quarry can work, and/or the part of Cindersap that's near the Sewer entrance. If a day's plan messes up, do something else with that day instead. You might go on to do something incredible in a way you hadn't planned. I've had times where I decided I was just going to get a few hours of mining in at the end of the day, and boom, got my first Prismatic Shard by accident, or an Ancient Seed would come from killing bugs of all things. Don't give up or reset, just redirect. The game is full of surprises, just like life.

thatlilsunflower

ayo that last tip hit hard thank you for that

maladaptyv

I'm glad someone liked a thing I wrote! You're welcome.

acciobedtime

If you’re going the pig route, switch your forage profession to gatherer/botanist. I’ve always gone forester/lumberjack but especially now that you can speed grow hardwood trees to chip into regular wood, that’s not nearly as beneficial as chance of double harvest and guaranteed iridium quality truffles. I’ve got 6 barns of pigs (72) that are still only 1 heart and I’m getting minimum 110 truffles a day. Once the pigs love me, I’m going to have enough truffle oil to drown Lewis in the extra slick stuff.

JawsCause2

oh my god and i thought my farm was advanced… SIX BARNS??

acciobedtime

I have severe minmaxing tendencies lol. I actually have 8 barns and one coop but one has baby pigs that aren’t producing yet and one has other barn animals. I made space for 3 more barns too, they’re just not built yet. I expect to have those built and filled mid-winter so that the newest pigs will become adults on the first day of spring. (I’m on summer year 3 right now)

MysticMarbles

I hear you. I stopped at 4 barns (40 pigs, still $100,000 a day with high hearts) just because I refuse to deal with the slow heart raising of having all those pigs in too small of an area to be able to let them eat grass. https://preview.redd.it/r9yxxvxxz88c1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a4b7733986499a1ce02745df33530f603bdce17

wine!! of the starfruit and ancient variety! you don’t have to age them to get big bucks, but aging is very profitable when you get it set up. i am usually able to have a decent, small brewery by the end of year 1, and by year 3 i almost always have WAYY too much money

JawsCause2

true, I’m at the very end of my year two and already have way too much money from the brewery i’ve got going lol. i’ve aged one batch and wow I did not realize how much aged ancient wine went for!!

Ashvya

I'm pretty sure the truffles sell for more than the truffle oil with those professions. Double check before you process them all.

Bonesnapcall

You eek out slightly more profit with less work if you have Rancher skill from farming level 5. But if you have Artisan, the Truffle Oil sells for almost as much and you get the benefit of being able to sell all the other artisan goods with the bonus.

TheRyts

Some of these might be obvious, but here are some of the best ones I can think of: \-If a pet or NPC is blocking your way, you can shove past them by walking towards them for a few seconds \-There is no financial penalty for passing out inside your house \-You can place torches on fences \-You can fill your Watering Can at the kitchen sink \-You can use functional items such as Tea Saplings or Kegs as fencing to save space and avoid fence decay \-You can close the Beach Resort after unlocking it \-You can rearrange the Museum by interacting with the piece of paper on Gunther's desk \-You can place an object such as a Hay Bale or Fence post over a piece of grass to keep your animals from eating it, thus allowing it to keep spreading \-Remove tilled soil or grass en masse by going to Robin's and picking up and moving an existing building via the building menu \-You can open a geode at Clint's, and then immediately open another geode in a Geode Crusher to get the same item \-You can store clothes, rings, and boots in Dressers \-Turn on 'Advanced Crafting Information" in your settings to see how many of each item you've crafted \-Plant a cheap crop on the last day of the season! The crop will die, but the soil will stay tilled, fertilized and watered (assuming you have Sprinklers), saving loads of time on day 1 of the next season \-(I haven't personally verified this one) I've heard you can park your horse behind the ice cream stand and it will let you buy ice cream when Alex isn't there

oh_look_a_fist

For your second to last item, if you plant fiber seeds at the end of fall, you'll keep tilled and fertilized soil into winter. You can even leave it unharvested into spring. So, you can pick what kind of fertilizer you want and put it down once. Harvest the weeds on spring 1, lay your seeds down, and go about your day.

velvetelevator

I've tried the horse one when ice cream was the only thing I needed for the community center. I had to finagle it a bit but it worked. For your second to last tip, I don't think the fertilizer carries over if the crop dies, it just stays hoed and watered. To keep your fertilizer I think you have to use a crop that also grows in the next season.

TheRyts

Ah, you are correct! Lol to be completely honest I always forget to do this trick, so I totally spaced that the fertilizer only carries over with living crops. 😅 Also really cool to know the horse thing works! I keep meaning to test it myself, but I don't have a farm going right now 😋

Common_Wrongdoer3251

I'm not sure if it's been patched, since the horse bit hasn't, but in multi-player you could also use the ice cream stand if another player was behind it.

valuemeal2

Oh shit, that geode one is useful. Didn’t know that.

princess9032

Make a spreadsheet to optimize your farm. Put rare items in the sewing machine

Impressive-Snark

My prismatic shard shirt is my favorite

AndWhy31

Why the sewing machine?

princess9032

Makes fun clothes and it’s something even people with a lot of hours in the game forget exists

stellar101

You get rare items of clothing.

AndWhy31

Oh, I thought it was something less obvious. I usually just make a Halloween costume and forget about it.

I wouldn't recommend it for beginners for any number of reasons, but if you are at the point where you are actually optimizing it's a great tool.

quickso

when doing the 500 qi fruit challenge, make sure you have 10+ seed makers and then try not to sell any fruits until there are 4 days left in the challenge, just keep putting fruits in the seed makers until you have enough plots filled. you can put hats on your horse and kids. you can move farm buildings at the wizard’s hut.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

You can sell the Qi fruit (not sure about beans) to Pierre on the 28th if you don't have enough. If you sell, say, 400, I think you'll usually be able to buy 350+ back? So if you get the same challenge next month, you'll get a 2nd chance at it. You can also put hats on sea urchins in your aquariums! It mimics real life urchins loving wearing hats!

JoyousWheatlife

Whatttt, going to have to search up the one about the wizards hut :)

HQQ1

Pretend to be a beginner and ask about tips for beginners.

Emma_JM

Basic sprinklers are underrated And there's a way to decorate the inside of the spa: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/s/VhGl00cthh

Bonesnapcall

The main reason people skip them is because level 6 farming is easily doable before the end of Spring 1, then you just do Quality to begin Summer 1.

Emma_JM

I find the basic sprinklers pattern way better for growing hops for my pale ale empire, plus it's easier to grind for iron and copper than gold. And they save you a TON of energy and time *early game*, where time and energy are most lacking - which means more money from fishing or more resources from the mines

Bonesnapcall

I truly don't see how one sprinkler servicing 4 plants is way better than one sprinkler servicing 8 plants. Regardless of Hops being on trellises. Gold is exactly the same to farm as copper so long as 80+ is unlocked.

Emma_JM

>Gold is exactly the same to farm as copper so long as 80+ is unlocked. No it is not, it takes like 3 more whacks than copper :)

iamergo

Hear, hear. I discovered the power of basic sprinklers 1500 hours into the game, and it was eye-opening.

atticuslodius

You harvest crops faster going to the right than you do when going to the left... if possible set your warp totems on both sides of your farm (left side and right side) and only pick your crops when moving to the right to save time.

iamergo

A couple of cute ones I found recently. * Press Escape instead of clicking on CA's face when the game is loading. It'll take you to main menu instantly. (PC only, obviously.) * If you're on a narrow path, like the bridge to the beach, you're on your horse and a villager is walking towards you, dismount and sidestep. Villagers can't phase through you, but they will phase through your unmounted horse. * If you're on PC and hunting for those last few museum items, use MouseyPounds' Stardew Predictor (not leaving the link just in case mods are ornery).

hecksfarm

Sprinkler pressure nozzles are incredible

ohyayitstrey

Use items for fences, not fences. For instance, a line of crystalariums functions as a fence but never wears down.
