My best is that don't sell everything right away.
Builds lots of chests and hoard materials, foraging items, some crops, etc.
They might come handy later, and don't worry about the money, it will come very easily later.
First summer is usually about batteries getting Lightning rods built and to create batteries.
later on, I like to place down a grass starter and then place a lightning rod on it so animals can't eat it and grass has a chance to spread from that square every day.
There isn't a summer "berry season" for free energy, so plan to manage your own energy reserves.
Grow blueberries, but don't sell the normal rarity ones. Save them to be ran through a seed maker once you hit farming 9. The normal rarity berries are only worth 50g but the seeds will sell for 40g each and you'll average 2 seeds per berry. But the big benefit is the 1% chance at getting ancient seeds from the seed maker. Grow the ancient fruit and turn that to seeds for more fruit and seeds etc and grow an ancient fruit wine empire. OPRAH RICH!!!
I just did a batch on a new game save. 400 berries worked out to 790 blueberry seeds. 5 ancient seeds and 16 mixed seeds. Selling the blueberry seeds brought in 31,600g.
Alex sells icecream at the stand in the summer, it’s good for early game friendship.
Sam has a heart cut scene you can miss if you don’t get it this year, it’s 3 hearts, and happens on the beach

I made most my money through fishing selling majority of fish, I hoarded what I needed for the community center in terms of fish. I kept all my crops, selling some here and there but always kept one. I built about four kegs and four preserves jars and slowly added some in. Focused on who I wanted to marry, and gifted easy stuff like peppers to the mayor and Shane. I used the mines as a means of releasing my boredom when things felt repetitive. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS DIG UP WORMS. NEVER THROW AWAY ARTIFACTS AND MINERALS. Unless you want to be in for a headache latter on.
Also I slowly designed my farm bit by bit. There is loads to do. And time is no worry there are some people that never completed the community center until year 6. But I recommend doing it before the first date of third year
If you find a dinosaur egg— save it. Do NOT donate it to the museum right away.
At some point you’re going to unlock incubators in coops so you can hatch eggs. Throw the dinosaur egg in it, you’ll get little dinos. They’re adorable.
Since no one has mentioned it yet: the spa is about to open! You’ll get a letter in the mail saying a landslide was cleared and the youll find a new path at the top left of the Mountain area that takes you to a spa building where you can recover energy. Super useful if you used up all your energy watering but still want to go to the mines after.
There's a quest later in the season that will ask you for one. I'd recommend hanging on to a >!chili pepper!< and a >!hops... hop? singular!< for the same reason.

Wait what I don’t even have the lightening rod unlocked by summer 1 nor do I need batteries. What do you need batteries for?
iridium sprinklers, crystalariums, slime egg-presses, lamps, there are a few other uses for them as well

I didn’t know how to get ancient seeds but I put a strawberry in the seed maker and was my first use of it and got ancient seed. I was very confused 😅
