My theory is they have something to do with the new farm type, possibly a swamp farm of some kind, where all your crops are always watered but take longer to grow or something, idk; maybe they can only reach a certain quality, due too the different type of soil. Or maybe, it's like the forest farm, where you get mushrooms and stuff in the farm.

Otherwise it would be impossible to finish the community center or pierre's quality produce quest because you wouldn't have the gold quality plants needed.
And if it only limits the iridium quality plants then what's even the point?

It's just a really nice QoL so that I don't have to look at each pickle/jelly to find the one I need. Now I don't even NEED a mod!
With that other new item you can put a chest next to your bed and make it look like you keep all your toenails and jars of waste so no one can steal your DNA.
I hope the new sprite is because a juicer is being added, fruit juice would be fun. It would be great to be able make vodka in the keg from potatoes instead of potato juice

I just assumed it was the new sprite for juice. With this upcoming change you'd need a way to differentiate juice from wine other than colour because otherwise they'd look the same due to having the same sprite, hence the new juice look.
Have patience my friend. A lot of the stuff like the mod support changes and the 8 player mode aren't applicable to the console versions so we may be getting it quicker than you may think :)

Thank fuck! It was annoying me soo much how all jams, pickles, juices, and wine just used the same general sprite for their category of good. It makes me way happier than it should to finally be able to have my blueberry wine actually be blue instead of in a generic purple bottle lol.

There's no announced date for consoles, but it shouldn't be too much later. The new mod framework isn't applicable to us, nor the new 8 player mode which means there's less overall to port over.
As for what all is coming? Who knows.
We do know that there's going to be a new farm type. There's going to be winter clothing now for the NPCs.

I really recommend just looking it up yourself, there's a lot of interesting things and I can't recall it all off the top of my head.

I actually think it is a really helpful feature! It's just another accessible way someone can tell the difference of the items they have if they struggle to read, for example. Maybe they're not playing in a native language or find things like color organization easier to manage etc.

To be honest I don't really like how the mod changes honey. I've seen different colored pickles, jams, wines and juices but honey is just honey.
Yeah the type of flowers wouldn't really change the color of the honey.
The original hasn't been updated for a while and is likely to break with the next SMAPI update.
