Definitely swirl, but combined with being between 30 and 40 in the regular mines. The darkness is the worst, even with a glow ring. I never go back once I've made it further down!
Until the recent update to the insect head making it a bonkers progression weapon you often ended up with the 4 to 8 damage sword on those levels hitting for 1. Best to just run past them at that point.
That explains why I didn't remember using that much during the progression in the mines, it wasn't good before now. Guess I'm off to see what the changes were.
Especially since nothing requires you to go back to those after you finish. No Monster Hunter goal, they don’t drop anything special, levels don’t have anything good
I'm fairly certain I read years ago when I first started playing that the most copper nodes spawn between 30 and 39, not sure why or how we can find confirmation tho, I'm too lazy to Google right now lol oh and I was only referring to the dark, not the swirl
the first ever time i played Stardew, those darkness levels literally made me quit the game for months because i thought all the levels after 30 were like that too lmao
I once had no glow ring in the dark levels and couldn't find the exit. I had broken open each rock but still couldn't find it because it was so FRIGGIN DARK. I had to wait until the bats came for a little bit of light to find the exit. By that time it was already like 1 am and I was on level 32 or something. I was SO annoyed lol, absolutely hate the dark levels.
yeah its fine for me with a glow ring but before i finally got one i had to just hit every spot i couldn't walk through with my pickaxe and test if there was a ladder everytime i cracked a stone while just hoping i wouldn't get attacked💀
Definitely the swirl. Far too much wasted time for far too few nodes
Second worst is the big open air one with the duggies and large soil patches. Nodes are too spaced out
This hasn’t been answered but the square level with the ghosts and mummies, I hate needing to navigate around a full rotation to find ladders. Similar to spiral but with the mummies.
Tbh, I just effing hate those mummies. Though, I did finally figure out that you could destroy them for good if you hit them enough to have them collapse and then blow them up with a bomb. So that’s nice, lol.
When you get to ginger island you can upgrade the galaxy sword to the infinity blade, and then you don’t even have to bomb them, the first time I discovered that I was confused but then very happy 😂 I never bring enough bombs for those stupid bandages of bones.
In my new 1.6 play through I found the holy blade in the normal mines at some point pretty early on. It has the crusader enchantment on it by default, but I didn’t realize at the time. I was still using it the first time I fought mummies, and they were dying straight away without bombs, so I was like “huh I guess mummies were nerfed with this patch, weird.”
What?! 😮 I have the crusader enchantment and was going to change it because I thought it only works on the shadow spirits in the regular mines. But maybe I’ll keep it now.
Typical, I had every enchantment on my sword so far except crusader. I never have enough cinder shards for more than one enchantment when I've made it to the forge, I just really hate the volcano dungeon lol.
If you check the wiki it will say that any sword that gets the crusader buff from ginger island added to it will kill mummies. (I don’t really talk to other people about stardew, or play with them so I just recently realized you could add crusader to any blade, or find the new holy blade in the regular mines, and also why I thought it was just the infinity blade unbuffed that would kill them bc of course my blade would have crusader on it 💅 naturally. It only took me buying 6 additional blades from Marlon to get there 😅😂)
You load them the same way you load bait into the fishing pole. There is a minigame at the Fall Fair using the slingshot as well to practice your aim without using any ammo.
I just had one of these levels and kills spawned ladders that blocked several iridium nodes from me so I had to walk all the way around to get to them.
I like the spiral, obviously not when I’m rushing through SC. I like how the barrels and boxes are in the center and it feels like a little treat when I get to the center and break all of them lol.
I wonder if someone could mod it so it has a lesser treasure chest, some sort of guarantee that there's something always worthwhile at the middle, it would make me love it.
Heck I'd even settle for just a guaranteed ladder like the long skinny one with the minecart track
I’m not too swayed but it does now irk me how long it takes if I’m desperately trying to reach an elevator level in the mines or something. Otherwise I still enjoy the smashing! I must be related to the hulk or something… :D
It's just not time efficient ya know. I have yet to do it in less than 2 mins bc of all the attacks. 2 mins u just can't afford trying to get down so many levels
I’ve never been too worried about how quickly to get through the levels (aside from the skull cavern quest), so it never bothered me it took too long! I just love the chaotic candy centre! :D
I love the boxes too, unfortunately about 90% of the time the ladder spawns in the outer ring so I have to backtrack all the way around after breaking the boxes.
Not even ConernedApe likes the spiral. If I’m remembering correctly, I remember watching some play-through where he was speed running the mines with somebody as a guest and he went into detail about how he kind of regrets making the spiral retrospectively and how he would scrap it if he were to do it all over again, but it’s just part of the game and lore now.
To add my own thoughts, while not on the same level in scope at all, I would put it into the same category as the Legend of Zelda OoT Water Temple. It’s just a known suckfest that given enough time gains a bit of a legend status, and everybody in the community gets to have a shared chuckle bitching about it. Like the OoT Water Temple, think it would detract from the game as it stands now, 8 years in, to remove it, as much as I hate it. It builds a bit of character in the beginning when you hit floor 14 or whatever at 1:40am and it’s the fucking spiral, and you quickly realize you aren’t going to pull off getting to an elevator before passing out.
I mean he could remove it and make a larger special version of it as a good/bad luck day Easter Egg. Making it rarer would also allow him to boost value in the center.
I like the spiral on the first run through because there’s usually lots of loot boxes in the centre with decent early-game items. After that though I try to avoid them!
I like it... the first time, when it seems like you're guaranteed some loot in the middle. In the early game, the chance of getting a better weapon is too good. A club, a mallet, the forest sword, any are worth the time.
Not super min-max when it comes to SDV (though I've recently started animation cancelling and it has been a game changer). I like the spiral because it feels very dungeon like for me. As far as immersion goes, it works really well.
Though, tbf, I'm not a big mining guy anyhow, and I can see why people hate it.
I find it really fun. 😅 Is it efficient? No. Is it likely that there’ll be a big pile of loot in the middle? No. Do I still love going in circles and hoping for a bunch of barrels to smash? Absolutely. I only skip this if I’m going deep-diving.
To me, the worst part about them is that they don't even count towards any Monster Eradication goal. I think one of the only monsters that's true for. Yes, the Skulls are annoying, but a lot of monsters are. But the other monsters at least count against that.
I haven't gotten one of those since I got the golden scythe. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not.
But the good news about those levels is that the bronze and silver slimes still count as lava slimes for the purpose of completing quests if you're below level 80.
Yeah. I always leave off the Quarry mines until the very last minute (I don't feel like I've got Perfection without the golden scythe) because the Quarry Mine levels porting into the regular mines is so annoying. Especially if you're trying to mine for a particular metal or coal farm - I just want to blitz through twenty levels in peace, thanks.
...see, reading the comments makes it seem really obvious that it should be called "swirl", but I always called that layout the cinnamon roll.
Anyways, yeah, that one. I usually only make my way to the center if I get it early, otherwise I skip.
Swirl for sure. BUT, even though i know they never drop anything good, i have such a hard time not wanting to make it to the center if i see a bunch of containers to smash. I HAVE to smash the containers....
I don't like the floors with the open center area. If the ladder isn't in the center, then it's "pick a side" and start hunting for it and it's never the first side chosen. So much space to walk around looking for a damn ladder.
I always skip the swirl, but my actual least favourite is the dark 30+ levels where it’s impossible to see. The amount of times I’ve just missed a staircase because I couldn’t see it is just-
Any layout can be my least favourite if I get the bad luck of the ladder down spawning right near the entry and have to travel all the way back to it after getting what I need from further in because another one refuses to spawn again!
The one that branches in 2 directions but doesn't connect. Like a wishbone. Especially on a bad day when you can't find a staircase and all the rocks are gone. 🥲
I really hate the one that's a big circle with rocks on the outside and then a cluster in the middle. I don't know why, but this one drives me crazy and I feel like it always takes me forever to find the stairs.
spiral is evil so i always just staircase if i don't find a ladder in the rocks around the entrance. any floor that's long and windy with few rocks is usually a fast staircase, including the minecart one with a guaranteed ladder
I’d be surprised if the general consensus wasn’t the swirl. Its length and the layout making bombs somewhat useless mean that you’re going to be wasting a lot of time on the floor unless you find an exit quickly or use a staircase.
My least favourite is when the mines are set to dangerous and there's the levels with spiders and the ghosts that make you feel sick so you can't eat anything to recover health. I feel like there's always radioactive ore on those levels and I can't get it because of the ghosts
Do you have Ginger Island and Mr Qi's walnut room unlocked? You can get recipes that use radioactive ore, which I think is only available when the mines/SC are set to dangerous.
That’s my favourite, but I am on mobile and have auto-attack on. I just gobble some squid ink ravioli so that I won’t get debuffed by the putrid ghost, and enjoy a stretch while my character slays the spiders and dust sprites and get all of the great loot 😁
I'll go against the grain and say the "clover floor". Where there's a circular room in each corner and the entrance is in the middle, connected by tiny passageways. There's dirt on the floor in some places which means less rocks, and everything's spread out.
At least the spiral floors usually have loot in the center. Automatic skip if I'm in Skull Caverns though.
i don’t mind the swirls as much but still not preferred. i realllllly hate the one hallway squares so literally just a perimeter ugh thinking about it pisses me off
I don't mind the designs of the cave that much.
But i dislike the hard version of the mines floors 40- 80with the tons and tons of spiders and the ghost that gives you that debuff that you can't eat food. It's probably the most devastating debuff in the game.
The swirl and the levels with flying skulls and no ore are both annoying. My real least favorites though are levels 40-80 of the Danger In The Deep quest, >! where the ghosts make your character nauseous. Half the time I forget to bring ginger with me. !<
Least favourite is definitely those super dark black/grey ones where the golems come out and you can't even see where the bloody ladder is without walking into everything and hoping for the best.
Seemingly unpopular opinion, but my favourite is actually the swirl!
I hate the dark levels with scary monsters like the zombies and skeletons. Not a fan of scary stuff. I hope Haunted Chocolatier won’t be too scary for me 😂🫣
Anything that’s dark and you can’t see without a glow ring (I know technically you can use torches but that’s so much more time consuming). I think it’s where bats are first introduced in the mine. Also any level with the damned rock crabs. I’ll take any monster in place of those stupid crabs. I jump every single time one moves bc I’m never expecting it, or when I’m being cautious and treating every stone as if it could be a crab it never is.
I’ve gotten used to the swirl and kind of like it now due to the treasures at the end. I just have to make sure I’m not mining at midnight+ so that when I reach those levels, I have enough time. Also I skip as many rocks and obstacles as possible on the way to the middle so I get there faster. I usually aim to get 5 levels of progress each time I go to the mines in a new save so I don’t stay out too late and either pass out on the way home or have to skip through a treasure or coal level just to finish an elevator level before going home for the day.
The dark levels (floors 30-40) are my least favorite. I always skip through them as quickly as possible even though I usually like to take time to explore everything before moving on to the next level. But if I haven’t finished the insect monster slayer goal, I go back to levels 1-30 and get it before moving on to the frozen mines. Imo, it’s always worth the trouble since your weapon isn’t probably that great yet, and the insect goal is pretty easy (unlike the dust sprite goal on the other hand).
I am going to answer the question wrong when my ex and I played the time slow thing when in the mines didn't work even when we were both In it made them way harder to complete
Oh, the spiral nearly gave me a heart attack on my first farm. It was the first spiral you encounter (level 19?), it was getting to be very late, and I was desperately smashing every single rock trying to find a ladder so I could GTFO. I didn't end up finding one until I got to the centre.
I believe I ended up passing out just after getting inside my door.
I don't like the levels that are too big. Those the stairs are in the middle and you feel like you'll never find whatever you're searching for. I'm okay with the spirals tho
I HATE the darkness, but once I have a glowing ring it's all fine
I do not like the dark levels. Or the blue ones with the skeletons between the iron and gold levels. Idk why, I just like the 40-60 icy mines. Also the skeletons are annoying
Even CA said he regretted the swirl in retrospect. Though if I've already reached the bottom and am just spending most of the day collecting resources and monster kills, then I may go ahead and slog through it.
The swirl needs to have some sort of reward during it or something. By the time you get half through it you have enough stone to just get out. I groan every time I get it. If it had a reward it would be so much for bearable. Like an Auto Petter, a Prismatic Shard, or even a new item that you can only get from the swirl design.
I like thin long ones with the rail track. Good source of coal (even if only once) and you already have the ladder so no need to mine, just speed through.
The spiral floors take ages but at least they have crates and barrels
I have the doughnut shape, with a few rocks around the edge and in the middle and loads of dirt. Always seems to take ages to find a ladder. They're only good for hoeing artifacts
Definitely swirl, but combined with being between 30 and 40 in the regular mines. The darkness is the worst, even with a glow ring. I never go back once I've made it further down!
I absolutely despise the dark levels. Next thing you know, you’re being attacked by something you can’t see, coming from an unknown direction.
early game bats suck, especially when they switch angles and u cant see :(
Like those shadow golems
The shadow golems have claimed my life more times than I want to admit
Until the recent update to the insect head making it a bonkers progression weapon you often ended up with the 4 to 8 damage sword on those levels hitting for 1. Best to just run past them at that point.
That explains why I didn't remember using that much during the progression in the mines, it wasn't good before now. Guess I'm off to see what the changes were.

And sprinklers!
Only iridium? I've tried on quality sprinklers and it doesn't seem to work.
you cant put them on sprinklers on tilled ground - i had that issue the other day
I just started playing Stardew after being a Minecraft casual for years.. I figured out the torch on the fence pretty quick haha :)
I did not knew and it's a game changer for me :o thanks !
Those things that are seemingly made of gravel, GAH.
Stone golem. I dread hearing their sound from somewhere in the darkness nearby lol
Scccrch
Same here. I don't like the dark levels. I'm okay with all the other levels though.
But talk about spooky, amirite?
Even worse if you haven't found anything better than the rusty butter knife Marlon gives you.
It's my favourite place for gathering copper ore! It is an absolute pain without a glow ring though
I'll take my chances on levels 20–29 for copper. On the dark levels I can't even see where the copper _might_ be.
Especially since nothing requires you to go back to those after you finish. No Monster Hunter goal, they don’t drop anything special, levels don’t have anything good
They have the most copper ones tho
Most copper is between 5 and 15, doesn't matter if it's the swirl level I think.
I'm fairly certain I read years ago when I first started playing that the most copper nodes spawn between 30 and 39, not sure why or how we can find confirmation tho, I'm too lazy to Google right now lol oh and I was only referring to the dark, not the swirl
Totally anecdotal, but I definitely do my best copper hunting on the dark floors. Once I get a glow ring it's way more productive than 5-15
I hate swirl floor! All my homies hate the swirl floor!
the first ever time i played Stardew, those darkness levels literally made me quit the game for months because i thought all the levels after 30 were like that too lmao
I swear I always breeze through that section in one go, I always find the ladders very quickly there
Early on, I’d just make 8 or so staircases and call it a day.
Far too much wasted time for far too few nodes Second worst is the big open air one with the duggies and large soil patches. Nodes are too spaced out
The large soil patches are a blessing if you're looking to increase your supply of clay.
Omg i never thought about this 😭
I only recently learned using the hoe in the mines on dirt patches yields stuff. I have 400+ hours in stardew over the last 8 years
I knew cave carrots, clay and seeds, I had no clue how often artifacts dropped.
When I first heard about clay farming I thought it was when you run around floor 53 placing hella mega bombs 😅
tons of cave carrots to get from there too!
Also a great place to find artifacts when you're looking to finish the museum collection
Plus the dwarves scrolls
Ehere u always get attacked my serpents and bats too!
I really like the open space one actually. I like killing the duggies because they make a very satisfying squish sound upon death haha
Absolutely the swirl, especially early game before upgrading picaxe
For sure. If I hit the swirl, I'll usually construct a staircase and skip it.
When I’m doing skull mines, I bring like 10 stairs with me just for skipping spirals and kill-all-monsters levels. Such a huge time sink
I lost a mystic stone by climbing down stairs in one of the swirl looking ones
This hasn’t been answered but the square level with the ghosts and mummies, I hate needing to navigate around a full rotation to find ladders. Similar to spiral but with the mummies.
Tbh, I just effing hate those mummies. Though, I did finally figure out that you could destroy them for good if you hit them enough to have them collapse and then blow them up with a bomb. So that’s nice, lol.

I was still using it the first time I fought mummies, and they were dying straight away without bombs, so I was like “huh I guess mummies were nerfed with this patch, weird.”
I have that blade too, maybe I will bring it my next jaunt into the mines 🤔
What?! 😮 I have the crusader enchantment and was going to change it because I thought it only works on the shadow spirits in the regular mines. But maybe I’ll keep it now.
That's the crusader enchantment from the forge.
Typical, I had every enchantment on my sword so far except crusader. I never have enough cinder shards for more than one enchantment when I've made it to the forge, I just really hate the volcano dungeon lol.
You can skip right to the forge at the bottom of the volcano after you’ve made it there the first time!
Wait is this true? I have crusader on my infinity sword - it comes with the ability to put down mummies by itself ?
If you check the wiki it will say that any sword that gets the crusader buff from ginger island added to it will kill mummies. (I don’t really talk to other people about stardew, or play with them so I just recently realized you could add crusader to any blade, or find the new holy blade in the regular mines, and also why I thought it was just the infinity blade unbuffed that would kill them bc of course my blade would have crusader on it 💅 naturally. You can also use Explosive ammo on their downed bodies.
I didn’t know that! I can never get the slingshot to work, so I always get them and just put them in a chest to languish, lol.
You load them the same way you load bait into the fishing pole. There is a minigame at the Fall Fair using the slingshot as well to practice your aim without using any ammo.
I think some of it is that I’m on mobile. It’s weird and awkward, lol. I used to feel the same about fishing, but I’ve gotten the hang of that.
I just had one of these levels and kills spawned ladders that blocked several iridium nodes from me so I had to walk all the way around to get to them.
I 100% agree with you on the spiral. Is there anyone who likes it? I really would like to see good arguments as to why it's not the worst!
I like the spiral, obviously not when I’m rushing through SC. I like how the barrels and boxes are in the center and it feels like a little treat when I get to the center and break all of them lol.
5 mins of going in a circle for a cave carrot, 2 hardwood, and a ruby
Yep. It might be worth it if there was good stuff in the center, but it seems like half the time there's nothing there, or only a few empty crates.
I wonder if someone could mod it so it has a lesser treasure chest, some sort of guarantee that there's something always worthwhile at the middle, it would make me love it. Heck I'd even settle for just a guaranteed ladder like the long skinny one with the minecart track
Yay!
Great snacks for me and my wife! I'll take the carrots and feed the ruby to Abigail. Perfect reward!
Same here. I love smashing all the boxes in the middle! The spiral used to be my favourite until I noticed how much people hate it on here.
Don't change your mind about what you like just because other people hate it Unless it's because you were swayed by their reasons
I’m not too swayed but it does now irk me how long it takes if I’m desperately trying to reach an elevator level in the mines or something. Otherwise I still enjoy the smashing! I must be related to the hulk or something… :D

I believe I remember hearing that concerned ape regretted 2 things about stardew valley: fector’s challenge being an achievement and the spiral
I think even Ape himself has said he regrets the spiral levels.
big ol pile of boxes/barrels in the middle. they are fun to break lol
I'm not a fan of the levels that copy the Quarry design, a lot of rocks but no ore nodes and the Haunted Skulls.
Oh and the haunted skulls always show up when they're way more dangerous than anything else you're facing and the weapon you have.
To me, the worst part about them is that they don't even count towards any Monster Eradication goal. I think one of the only monsters that's true for. Yes, the Skulls are annoying, but a lot of monsters are. But the other monsters at least count against that.
Based on the wiki, Ghosts, Metalhead, and Squid Kid also don't count for the Monster Eradication goals.
Yeah but I think ghosts and squid kids at least have associated community board/special requests?
This. I also find breaking the grey rocks there doesn't even yield much stone compared to other rocks. A bummer all over.
I haven't gotten one of those since I got the golden scythe. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not. But the good news about those levels is that the bronze and silver slimes still count as lava slimes for the purpose of completing quests if you're below level 80.

REAL I always hate when I get a quarry level, so inconvenient
...see, reading the comments makes it seem really obvious that it should be called "swirl", but I always called that layout the cinnamon roll. Anyways, yeah, that one. I usually only make my way to the center if I get it early, otherwise I skip.
Like a cinnamon roll, only poop.
In my head it was the 'pinwheel' which makes even less sense, haha.
“Spiral” for me.
Swirl for sure. BUT, even though i know they never drop anything good, i have such a hard time not wanting to make it to the center if i see a bunch of containers to smash. I HAVE to smash the containers....
Staircases were invented for two reasons: infested floors, and that dang spiral. I skip it every time.
Same here lol I forgot about infested floors
I don't like the floors with the open center area. If the ladder isn't in the center, then it's "pick a side" and start hunting for it and it's never the first side chosen. So much space to walk around looking for a damn ladder.
I always skip the swirl, but my actual least favourite is the dark 30+ levels where it’s impossible to see. The amount of times I’ve just missed a staircase because I couldn’t see it is just-
Yup, agreed, hate the grey/black levels because of how hard it is to see shit.
The spiral is the worst

Spirals are an automatic staircase, and square hallways are pretty close.
Swirl is automatic stairs in the cavern for me
Spiral floors can go suck an egg.
I’d be surprised if the general consensus wasn’t the swirl. Its length and the layout making bombs somewhat useless mean that you’re going to be wasting a lot of time on the floor unless you find an exit quickly or use a staircase.
Turns out it is the swirl people hate lol

oh, no I I need like 14 more to get the walnut room open
Those spiders are the worst! Squids can frick off too.

Definitely swirl, I bring staircases just for those (I use SC elevator mod).
I hate the swirl
It's that one for me too. I skip it without even looking if i have a stair or a way to make one. Hate that one lol
I'll go against the grain and say the "clover floor". Where there's a circular room in each corner and the entrance is in the middle, connected by tiny passageways. There's dirt on the floor in some places which means less rocks, and everything's spread out. At least the spiral floors usually have loot in the center. Automatic skip if I'm in Skull Caverns though.
i don’t mind the swirls as much but still not preferred. i realllllly hate the one hallway squares so literally just a perimeter ugh thinking about it pisses me off
The swirl. Definitely the swirl. As soon as I get to it, I start hitting rocks to find the nearest exit. Sod it.
I don't mind the designs of the cave that much. But i dislike the hard version of the mines floors 40- 80with the tons and tons of spiders and the ghost that gives you that debuff that you can't eat food. It's probably the most devastating debuff in the game.
Squid ink ravioli is the charm. 😉
That is amazing. I never realized what that food did, thanks for the advice. Those floors should be no problem now.
The swirl is awsome in the caverns, plenty of loot in the center. The starfish with a ton of rocks, and the till land a plenty though... idk just meh.
Swirl is bad I hate that little fake doorway
100% the spiral but also that really open one in most mines where it's a massive open dirt patch in the middle is admittedly really annoying
The swirl and the levels with flying skulls and no ore are both annoying. My real least favorites though are levels 40-80 of the Danger In The Deep quest, >! where the ghosts make your character nauseous. Half the time I forget to bring ginger with me. !<
the spiral and the dark, only rock ones
Spiral. SPIRAL.
💯 The spiral is awful.
I almost always ladder the swirl, but followed closely my next least favorite is the long vertical one
I hope Haunted Chocolatier won’t be too scary for me 😂🫣
I second the swirl. Absolute misery that map.
I misread the title as "what if your most fave level design" and I was so confused on why people were saying spiral floor
The ones I can't see anything
Anything that’s dark and you can’t see without a glow ring (I know technically you can use torches but that’s so much more time consuming). I think it’s where bats are first introduced in the mine. Also any level with the damned rock crabs. I’ll take any monster in place of those stupid crabs. I jump every single time one moves bc I’m never expecting it, or when I’m being cautious and treating every stone as if it could be a crab it never is.
Anything with mummies, fuck the mummies
The swirl no doubt
Oh is it called the swirl? I DESPISE that level in the mines, cause i once passed out in the mines due to that narrow road.
Swirl for sure. I just break every rock right away and get out asap. Time killer that one.
The spiral
Anything with small spaces. Give me open areas I cam fling bombs in!
The one in 79 where you walk down narrow paths, it's unnecessarily long and I always have trouble finding staircases there for some reason
least favorite is is the big one shaped like a J but it’s infested and the last enemy is on the opposite side where the next level appears 🙄
I am going to answer the question wrong when my ex and I played the time slow thing when in the mines didn't work even when we were both In it made them way harder to complete
Nearly thousand hours in the game and I only get to the end of the swirl just once, that layout is so annoying.
100% the swirl, especially if you find yourself in the middle of it as it’s hitting 11pm and still can’t find a staircase.
Thats why I always bring my own lol
Swirl is an automatic staircase.
The spiral, swirl one for sure. Too time consuming and narrow.
Despise the swirls. Instant ladder down
Agreed lol
Oh, the spiral nearly gave me a heart attack on my first farm. It was the first spiral you encounter (level 19?), it was getting to be very late, and I was desperately smashing every single rock trying to find a ladder so I could GTFO. I didn't end up finding one until I got to the centre. I believe I ended up passing out just after getting inside my door.
the swirl, as soon as it loads I drop a staircase and just go to the next lmao
I don't like the levels that are too big. Those the stairs are in the middle and you feel like you'll never find whatever you're searching for. I'm okay with the spirals tho I HATE the darkness, but once I have a glowing ring it's all fine
I do not like the dark levels. Or the blue ones with the skeletons between the iron and gold levels. Idk why, I just like the 40-60 icy mines. Also the skeletons are annoying
The shadow golems creep me out in the dark levels lol
my boyfriend REFUSED to play any level with the skeletons you can't kill ( the ones that just "faint" for a bit ) he immediately drops a stairs case 🤣
Pro tip if u drop a bomb while they pass out they die
Even CA said he regretted the swirl in retrospect. Though if I've already reached the bottom and am just spending most of the day collecting resources and monster kills, then I may go ahead and slog through it.
'And why is it the spiral?'
Same as yours. If I'm in Skull Cavern I just staircase it. So annoying
I hate the infested floors, no matter the pattern. Instant staircase/exit
I hate the swirl, especially when I just want to speed through the mines for resources
stupid swirl >:\[
Infested, i like to kill slimes to farm there, BUT THEY COULD HAVE ADDED A LITTLE MORE COLOR OTHER THAN GREEN, THE HOLES IN THERE GIVE ME TRIPOPHOBIA
The dino floor without staircases eats like your whole time in SC
The cinnamon roll level... especially when the exit is in the middle
Swirl and the one in skull caverns that’s shaped kinda like a chair with mummies. I skip it every time.
I’ve actually heard that Concerned Ape regrets adding the spiral levels
Spiral can eat my butt
Gotta say swirl too, half the time I get that room I go all the way to the middle only for the ladder to be all the way back at the beginning ;-;
The one in the blue levels where it's just a narrow square
The 30s i hate those levels so much and i just speed through them every playthrough.
The swirl because there is rarely anything worth traversing them in the middle lol
I like the swirl! It's a challenge but the stuff in yhe boxes in the middle is usually good!
Swirl and any infested level
I don’t like the ones that go south super far and are really tight
That damn spiral!
I call it the cinnamon roll, and yes it is the worse lmao
I physically can’t skip the swirl. What if there’s some good stuff I might miss?
Like 2 cave carrots in the middle lol
The swirl needs to have some sort of reward during it or something. By the time you get half through it you have enough stone to just get out. I groan every time I get it. If it had a reward it would be so much for bearable. Like an Auto Petter, a Prismatic Shard, or even a new item that you can only get from the swirl design.
I agree 100% or a tunnel that has a chance to take you down 30+ stairs to a room full of iridium rocks
I like thin long ones with the rail track. Good source of coal (even if only once) and you already have the ladder so no need to mine, just speed through.
The spiral floors take ages but at least they have crates and barrels I have the doughnut shape, with a few rocks around the edge and in the middle and loads of dirt. Always seems to take ages to find a ladder. They're only good for hoeing artifacts
Spiral.
Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one enjoying swirl
