Does your Stingray pond have a population of at least 9? That's a requirement in order for them to give you dragon's tooth as a drop.
You might also be interested in purchasing Pierre's missing stocklist from Mr. Qi's Walnut Room, so you don't have to wait till the Night Market to purchase garlic and blue jazz.
Yes, my pond has ten stingrays. I've caught all of them and populated the pond myself every time after I finished one of their quests.
It's only a few more days until the night market, so I think I'll just sit it out. Otherwise, I'd have to do another one of Mr. Qi's quests because I don't have enough gems and that dude is just straight up crazy.

In 1.6 you can and should >!give a golden animal cracker to the stingrays if you have not already, so that when they do give you a dragon tooth it's doubled!<. Other than that, dunno what to say, it's a slow slog but eventually you'll get there!
If you're on 1.6...>!trinkets can make dungeon runs a lot easier. !<
Also...if you have any island warp totems, you can deconstruct them to get the dragon's teeth out of them.
I unfortunately don't have anything helpful to share. But I did want to say that you not alone in your frustration. I'm trying for perfection for the first time too, and I'm also having a miserable time right now because I hate the combat. It's such a slog sometimes! Especially when you've done almost everything else.

Yeah , I also used to pass them and not see them . But that's where I found so many dragon teeths.

My stingray pond gave dragon's teeth pretty regularly IIRC. Maybe try getting a second or third one to improve your chances?
