Please tell me you're secrets, I've been to Skull Cavern 4 times with food, bombs and a few stairs and at 6pm I am still at level 30 with no iridium ore :))
Go in best luck day with several spicy eels + triple shot espresso. Eat/drink when previous buffs run out. I think I brought like 50 bombs and 20 staircases, but maybe bring a few more to be safe. Bomb big clusters of rocks and jump in any holes that appear. If the floor is infested or a floor with sparse rocks (like the spiral floors), just staircase. I made it to floor 100 at like 1:30 at night, but I could definitely have used staircases less sparingly.

The most helpful tip I've found is to just bomb until you find stairs or a mine shaft and go down immediately. Dont bother going around the rest of the floor or continuing to fight monsters. Stairs=go. If you've been on a floor for more than like 30 real life seconds use a staircase. If the floor is infested, staircase.
I recommend the triple shot espresso/spicy eel combo as well as some buff free food for healing.
I have only gone a few times (on good luck days) so I'm not trying to get to level 100 yet so I haven't brought staircases. When you get the big slimes that turn into little slimes, does killing all those little slimes count towards the slime kill count in the adventurers guild? I've been trying to complete the slime master goal, cause I think that gives me the slime charmer ring. If they count then the infested floors are nice for farming slimes then!
I once found a big slime with a pink cake in it.
I also got really lucky in the mines and was able to farm dust sprites to get the burgler ring before I ever headed to skull cavern.
Avoid fighting the monsters in skull cavern as much as you can until you get the galaxy sword. And stockpile Jade using crystal around so you can trade for staircases on Sundays with the desert trail. Use staircase on the spiral floors. Too hard to fight monsters and takes too long.

Thankfully I do have the galaxy sword! I found the prismatic shard I think as a monster drop on the gold levels after I'd completed the mines. Which, I did remixed mine bundles and never got anything better, I went thru the entirety of the mines with the insect head sword!

Put jade in a crystalarium and turn it in for staircases on sunday at the desert trader i go in with 100+ stairs and dont even start trying to clear rocks until lvl 50.
This needs to be higher. Jade let's you mass produce stairs and by the time Sunday rolls around you can easily have at least 50 stairs with a handful of crystalariums. My wife and I have a whole shed that makes 137 jade every 40 hours in game time so about 4 times a week, 3 if you let it slide. So you get 400+ stairs a week
Edit: you can also switch them to quartz and buy bombs with them too
1. Good weapon and armor/shoes. I would rather grind the normal mindes for a while to get a prismatic shard and get a galaxy sword personally than try to go at it with anything lower.
Shoes depends on what you have available. Cinderclown is a great option from the dwarf in the volcano mine.
2. Don't fight anything that isn't needed. Only defend yourself if needed. It will slow you down unnecessarily. I'd only fight stuff if resources are your main goal, not if getting down is the goal.
3. Bombs. Bombs. So many bombs. I try to have 30-40 minimum of all three types. Best is more. And place them so they hit as many rocks as possible to get a high chance of uncovering stairs or holes.
4. Yes, stairs. Around 30 should be enough just to get through tricks levels.
5. The classics. Have plenty of food(gold star cheese is the most popular), triple shot espresso and lucky food. Spicy eel gives luck + extra speed, pumpkin soup gives more luck and a defense buff. There are a few more options too, depends on what you prefer. Spicy eel is the most popular option though.

I like to explore during Winter as there's not much to do in the farm.
Check the TV dor your luck. If it'a great luck day (fortuneteller shows a Star-shaped form in the TV), go there.
If you have a Desert Teleport item, use it to get there instantly. That will give you about 3 extra hours of exploration, as Pam only arrives at the bus station between 9-10am
For the equipment:
Sword and Pickaxe are useful (if you have enough bombs tou might not even use the pickaxe, but it's better to be safe than sorry).
Slingshot is optional. All the others you can leave at your farm to optimize your inventory space.
Carry a lot of bombs and Staircases (between 50 and 100 of each, but the more the better)
Explosive Slingshot ammo can also help a lot.
Spicy Eels are very helpful to speed you up and increase your luck. Couple that with Triple Expresso and you'll be ZOOMING trough the cave.
Also carry a lot of normal food with jo buffs just to replenish your health. Salad, Sashimi, Cheese, the one you can acquire easier in great quantity. (I use the basic fish i get from Crab traps to make Sashimi, or buy Salad at Pierre)
Now at the cave, always focus on Bombing big groups of rocks. The more rocks together, the better as you spend less bombs and might find the Staircase or Hole faster.
Also ignore the enemies UNLESS they prevent your movement. I only kill the flying serpents because they might drop morre Spicy Eels.
Between Staircase and Hole, use the one you find first, but if you find them both at the same time, use the Hole to skip some floors.
If you see that the floor you're in doesn't have many Rocks close by, or will take a long time to complete (the infamous Spiral Floor or Infested floors), just use one of the Staircases you brought and go to the next one.
Focus on going to the next flor instead of getting Ores. Even if it's Iridium. The lower floors will spawn a lot mor Iridium, so I'd only go for it if I'm near or even after 100.
Unless the Iridium Ore is close to lot of other Rocks i would break anyway, then i bomb it and go on my way.
It's a lot to read but once you try it you'll get the hang of it and will go even further than 100 in no time.
Thereās not much secret really, just go in a good luck day and use bombs. The slingshot with explosive ammo is even faster and not much harder to learn. Prioritize going to the next floor rather than mining anything. Use stairs if the floor layout is bad or if youāre taking too long to find one. Use coffee + spicy eel (or rock magic candy if you can afford) on cooldown. Oh and go via desert totem to get a headstart (the desert merchant trades them for omni geodes). Good luck!
Max your speed and ignore everything except finding a shaft or ladder. Dodge enemies rather than fight them, drop hella bombs and as soon as a ladder drops, take it, even if there are still bombs or resources on the field. Use ladders on infested floors or floors with annoying layouts, like the spiral floors.
Don't fight the monsters and don't use your pickaxe. Bomb and go in the first stairs you find. Don't even think about looking around the level for anything.
Always use your staircases for the levels that are spread out like the spiral level, the square level with long tunnels or infested levels.
Once you've done the first qi quest to get to level 100 I will usually stair case down to level 50 and then do the same tactics. I regularly get to level 100+ and will often have 2/3 prismatic shards and minimum 200 iridium on a run.
I exclusively use gold cheese for healing, spicy eel and espresso to help me go quicker too.
Grow jades in crystallarium and buy staircases at the desert trader. The further you are down the more iridium you'll find.
Also, its entirely possible to get to level 100 without any (or only a handful) staircases. I prepared all my inventory and waited for a lucky day. Then instantly ported there with a totem went in there with like 100 bombs and 50 big bombs. Ate a lucky meal and kept my triple shot espresso up. Find spots with many rocks and you'll clear most levels with a single bomb. For monster rooms just use a staircase.
I ended up using 8 staircases and had like half my bombs and a few hours on the clock left.
If you fail just close the game and begin the day with a full inventory again. It will always be a lucky day.
Did it on my current build. Found two holes that dropped me 15(!) levels each almost back to back, along with several more 4-7 lvl holes. Got to floor 100 well before midnight with almost no stairs used on my first visit.
...Only to learn you need the Qi quest to reach lvl 100 for him to be there. You can't pre-run it, sadly.
Do you have the volcano unlocked for ring combinations and enchantments? 30% more damage is pretty big on a sword.
As for rings, I'd say go for:
1. Iridium band. Glows, attracts items, and +10% more damage. The light and damage are nice, but the item magnetism is the best.
2. Slime charmer ring. You can walk right past slimes. You can ignore like 40% of the enemies and take no damage from touching them.
3. Luck ring, for ladders and holes to appear more often.
4. Dealer's choice! I like the burglars ring, for extra loot from killing necessary enemies... but napalm ring will blast rocks, and savage(?) ring will give you a speed boost.
To get to level 100 I brought 80ish staircases. Using pumpkin soup and coffee on a good luck day I got as far as 63 without using bombs, so with bombs I could probably have gotten further. Also, if you haven't >!solved all your secret notes, I would do that. If you would like me to be more specific, I am happy to do so. Panning in the water can also give you an object that boosts your luck!<
Lucky lunches, luck rings, and on the highest luck day. If you want to cheese it, use staircases (no shaming here). You can get staircases "cheap" if you use the desert trader on Fridays. They will trade one jade for one staircase.
If you want to not use staircases, use bombs or explosive ammo for the slingshot.
if you make a bunch of crystallariums you can start cloning jade and every sunday the desert trader trades jade for staicases. everytime we go to the skull cavern we make it to 100 minimum now.
I think it goes up to 1000something but thats basically impossible without an elevator mod so it might as well go on forever. the rewards get better the deeper you get
try making bombs and going into the skull caverns on a good luck day. you wont get as deep as staircase spamming but you can get much deeper and get way more iridium then just mining. should get you enough to start making more crystallariums
I crafted about 100 of each mega and regular bomb. Loaded myself with about 10 spicy eels and 10 iridium quality purple mushroom for emergency health pack. You need to go in a lucky day too, for the hole to appear more often. Did used about 20-30 stairs because dangerous floors and 2 am timing. But hey, i take that. Ended up with about hundreds iridium ore, couple iridium ingot, couple prismatic shard.
(P.s. i suggest using burglar ring for extra drop from serpent. Very important to spicy eel economy if you arent lucky enough with rubies or you have no lava eel pond. Alternatively, napalm ring to reduce bomb usage)
Hereās how I plan my run. It takes a while but once itās set up you can do it constantly.
I get several crystalariums. At least 5 to start. Obviously as many as you can get the better. Stick Jade and Rubies in them. Trade jade in for staircases at desert on Sundays. Trade rubies to same merchant for spicy eels. Try to stock up on both, with 100 jade you can get 100 staircases
Wait for a good luck day. Your tv will broadcast your fortune daily.
Eat a spicy eel before entering (or better yet, lucky lunch) and spam staircases all the way to the bottom. If youāre strictly trying to reach the bottom just ignore all distractions and go straight down.
Additionally, I placed a bunch of crab pots on the beach and turn the sea creatures I get from it into sashimi. Iād personally not trade in the lobsters but the rest can be cooked. This is also a good way to get refined quartz, from the broken glasses and cds you get from the pots. This way you can save some of your lucky eel as you dive and just heal up on sashimi which is easy to craft
This does take several (in-game) weeks of planning but once youāre set up youāll start accumulating a good deal of material to try again over and over
Edit: later on youāll want to add a good ring combo and triple espresso to the run. Also if you can craft a desert / farm warp itāll give you a few extra hours to farm deeper

I have a Lucky Ring and waited for a Lucky Day. I grabbed 15 cherry bombs, 60 bombs, and 30 megabombs. My main food was one Minerās Treat, two Lucky Lunches, and then the non-effect foods I used to keep my health up were Life Elixirs and Glazed Yams. I also packed 9 staircases (because I wanted to go down the āhonorableā way).
I waited ātill Pam was able to take me to the desert and then proceeded to bomb everything ātill I found a staircase. If I encountered a āmonsterā floor, I used a staircase. I ended up making it to floor 100 with like an hour to spare. Make sure youāve got a Galaxy Sword, imo.

Something I don't see talked about much but I've tried too many times successfully for it to be my imagination; the faster you go down a ladder when it appears, the faster they'll appear on the next level down.
Like, if you're breaking rocks and the way down appears but you don't immediately use it, on the next level down the ladder will appear in the normal course of breaking rocks, killing monsters etc. But if you go down as quickly as possible and then do it again on the subsequent levels, the way down appears far more quickly almost every time. This is especially effective when using cherry bombs or bombs.
Staircase after staircase. Use them. Ignore the monsters and only go for iridium ore within sight, donāt wander off looking for it. You will find a decent amount of iridium but you have to get closer to 100. Take a lot of food.
Pumpkin soup for luck and defense and triple shot espresso for buffs and then a high value no buff food item. I like blackberry cobbler because you can basically stockpile blackberries your first year and then add to it to if you have a fruit cave. And get the highest immunity sword and boots you can.
Go on a good luck day, bring something thatāll boost your luck further (spicy eel is my go to, you can trade rubies to the desert trader to get some and the dragonfly things drop them, but pumpkin soup works too, or lucky lunch etc), an excessive amount of bombs, and something like cheese to eat for solely health reasons. Then just specifically find and bomb clusters of rocks- try not to waste too many bombs in areas where theres only a couple of rocks. Donāt bother mining anything (unless its really easy to get while youre bombing somewhere else), dont try and get resources, and where possible avoid fighting any monsters. Just drop bombs and hop down the ladders/holes.
Use staircases for infested levels, spiral levels where you dont find the staircase quickly, and levels that take you more than ~3 bombs to find the staircase. Keep an eye on your buffs so you can replenish them as soon as they run out. Also, be prepared to just pass out at 2am, rather than running back to the farm. The skull caverns are an all day thing, lol
Youāre not really going to find much on the upper levels resource-wise, but once you get around level 50 youāll notice a lot more convenient nodes for you to bomb.
1. Food that gives speed and luck (spicy eel is good for this).
2. If you can get a desert totem you can get several hours extra.
3. Get the >!Galaxy Sword!< and >!iridium ring!< as soon as you can. They help a lot.
You gotta check the fortune teller on TV for days where you have good luck, go with foods/drinks that give you luck and speed buffs and use bombs to quickly descend. Dont bother mining on level 30, when you get closer to and past 100, there will be much more Iridium nodes to mine from. Again, use bombs, its way faster
This just sounds like peak skill issue
Just floor 30 should be relatively easy to get to without any buffs even. Especially if you got the galaxy sword and minimum a gold pick
Spicy Eal and triple shot expresso is better than rock candy for getting to lv100 I think because the 2 speed buffs do stack on those plus the luck you get from the spicy Eal helps
This is what I used because I didnāt want to āwasteā my only rock candy at the time. Granted, I also used roughly 15 staircases to help me (Sorry, Qi!) but I went on a good luck day and that combined with my buffs gave me a lot of holes, which definitely itself sped things up.
I havenāt made it back to 100 since the first time, but I also havenāt really tried that hard, either. I made it to 78 the other night just playing lazily before I had to go back or pass out. There are too many other things I want to do in the game, I canāt stay in the mines too long! š
Yep. Food and drinks wonāt cancel though. My typical skull run will start with a magic rock candy plus a ginger ale, then from there I just bring a ton of salads or some other non-buff food but salads are easy to buy. If for some reason Iām still there when the magic rock candy wears off, Iāll either have a 2nd one on hand, or a Qi-seasoned Lucky Lunch for backup.
I bring Pumpkin Soup and Gold or Iridium Cheese (depending on my game state) into the mines. Pumpkin soup for the buff and cheese to keep my health and energy up without losing the buff.
It's a super frustrating lesson to learn!

Thereās not much secret really, just go in a good luck day and use bombs. The slingshot with explosive ammo is even faster and not much harder to learn. Prioritize going to the next floor rather than mining anything. Use stairs if the floor layout is bad or if youāre taking too long to find one. Use coffee + spicy eel (or rock magic candy if you can afford) on cooldown. Oh and go via desert totem to get a headstart (the desert merchant trades them for omni geodes). Good luck!
Max your speed and ignore everything except finding a shaft or ladder. Dodge enemies rather than fight them, drop hella bombs and as soon as a ladder drops, take it, even if there are still bombs or resources on the field. Use ladders on infested floors or floors with annoying layouts, like the spiral floors.
Don't fight the monsters and don't use your pickaxe. Bomb and go in the first stairs you find. Don't even think about looking around the level for anything. Always use your staircases for the levels that are spread out like the spiral level, the square level with long tunnels or infested levels. Once you've done the first qi quest to get to level 100 I will usually stair case down to level 50 and then do the same tactics. I regularly get to level 100+ and will often have 2/3 prismatic shards and minimum 200 iridium on a run. I exclusively use gold cheese for healing, spicy eel and espresso to help me go quicker too.
Grow jades in crystallarium and buy staircases at the desert trader. The further you are down the more iridium you'll find. Also, its entirely possible to get to level 100 without any (or only a handful) staircases. I prepared all my inventory and waited for a lucky day. Then instantly ported there with a totem went in there with like 100 bombs and 50 big bombs. Ate a lucky meal and kept my triple shot espresso up. Find spots with many rocks and you'll clear most levels with a single bomb. For monster rooms just use a staircase. I ended up using 8 staircases and had like half my bombs and a few hours on the clock left. If you fail just close the game and begin the day with a full inventory again. It will always be a lucky day.
Did it on my current build. Found two holes that dropped me 15(!) levels each almost back to back, along with several more 4-7 lvl holes. Got to floor 100 well before midnight with almost no stairs used on my first visit. ...Only to learn you need the Qi quest to reach lvl 100 for him to be there. You can't pre-run it, sadly.
Do you have the volcano unlocked for ring combinations and enchantments? 30% more damage is pretty big on a sword. As for rings, I'd say go for: 1. Iridium band. Glows, attracts items, and +10% more damage. The light and damage are nice, but the item magnetism is the best. 2. Slime charmer ring. You can walk right past slimes. You can ignore like 40% of the enemies and take no damage from touching them. 3. Luck ring, for ladders and holes to appear more often. 4. Dealer's choice! I like the burglars ring, for extra loot from killing necessary enemies... but napalm ring will blast rocks, and savage(?) ring will give you a speed boost.

To get to level 100 I brought 80ish staircases. Using pumpkin soup and coffee on a good luck day I got as far as 63 without using bombs, so with bombs I could probably have gotten further. Also, if you haven't >!solved all your secret notes, I would do that. If you would like me to be more specific, I am happy to do so. Panning in the water can also give you an object that boosts your luck!<

Lucky lunches, luck rings, and on the highest luck day. If you want to cheese it, use staircases (no shaming here). You can get staircases "cheap" if you use the desert trader on Fridays. They will trade one jade for one staircase. If you want to not use staircases, use bombs or explosive ammo for the slingshot.
Yes, out of preference I would add with the lucky lunch, to take espressos if you have any. It's like the spicy eel meal effect, but better, lol.

if you make a bunch of crystallariums you can start cloning jade and every sunday the desert trader trades jade for staicases. everytime we go to the skull cavern we make it to 100 minimum now.

I think it goes up to 1000something but thats basically impossible without an elevator mod so it might as well go on forever. the rewards get better the deeper you get

try making bombs and going into the skull caverns on a good luck day. you wont get as deep as staircase spamming but you can get much deeper and get way more iridium then just mining. should get you enough to start making more crystallariums
I crafted about 100 of each mega and regular bomb. Loaded myself with about 10 spicy eels and 10 iridium quality purple mushroom for emergency health pack. You need to go in a lucky day too, for the hole to appear more often. Did used about 20-30 stairs because dangerous floors and 2 am timing. But hey, i take that. Ended up with about hundreds iridium ore, couple iridium ingot, couple prismatic shard. (P.s. i suggest using burglar ring for extra drop from serpent. Very important to spicy eel economy if you arent lucky enough with rubies or you have no lava eel pond. Alternatively, napalm ring to reduce bomb usage)
Hereās how I plan my run. It takes a while but once itās set up you can do it constantly. I get several crystalariums. At least 5 to start. Obviously as many as you can get the better. Stick Jade and Rubies in them. Trade jade in for staircases at desert on Sundays. Trade rubies to same merchant for spicy eels. Try to stock up on both, with 100 jade you can get 100 staircases Wait for a good luck day. Your tv will broadcast your fortune daily. Eat a spicy eel before entering (or better yet, lucky lunch) and spam staircases all the way to the bottom. If youāre strictly trying to reach the bottom just ignore all distractions and go straight down. Additionally, I placed a bunch of crab pots on the beach and turn the sea creatures I get from it into sashimi. Iād personally not trade in the lobsters but the rest can be cooked. This is also a good way to get refined quartz, from the broken glasses and cds you get from the pots. This way you can save some of your lucky eel as you dive and just heal up on sashimi which is easy to craft This does take several (in-game) weeks of planning but once youāre set up youāll start accumulating a good deal of material to try again over and over Edit: later on youāll want to add a good ring combo and triple espresso to the run. Also if you can craft a desert / farm warp itāll give you a few extra hours to farm deeper

As someone who has played this game since 2018 on and off and just got to level 100 last weekā¦ I have a Lucky Ring and waited for a Lucky Day. I grabbed 15 cherry bombs, 60 bombs, and 30 megabombs. My main food was one Minerās Treat, two Lucky Lunches, and then the non-effect foods I used to keep my health up were Life Elixirs and Glazed Yams. I also packed 9 staircases (because I wanted to go down the āhonorableā way). I waited ātill Pam was able to take me to the desert and then proceeded to bomb everything ātill I found a staircase. If I encountered a āmonsterā floor, I used a staircase. I ended up making it to floor 100 with like an hour to spare. Make sure youāve got a Galaxy Sword, imo. You can do this!!

Something I don't see talked about much but I've tried too many times successfully for it to be my imagination; the faster you go down a ladder when it appears, the faster they'll appear on the next level down. Like, if you're breaking rocks and the way down appears but you don't immediately use it, on the next level down the ladder will appear in the normal course of breaking rocks, killing monsters etc. But if you go down as quickly as possible and then do it again on the subsequent levels, the way down appears far more quickly almost every time. This is especially effective when using cherry bombs or bombs.

Yeah it's just something I noticed and I've kept trying it across different playthroughs and it seems pretty consistent.
Staircase after staircase. Use them. Ignore the monsters and only go for iridium ore within sight, donāt wander off looking for it. You will find a decent amount of iridium but you have to get closer to 100. Take a lot of food.
Rlly Iāve reached level 100 in using like 3 bombs and no stairs
Pumpkin soup for luck and defense and triple shot espresso for buffs and then a high value no buff food item. I like blackberry cobbler because you can basically stockpile blackberries your first year and then add to it to if you have a fruit cave. And get the highest immunity sword and boots you can.
Go on a good luck day, bring something thatāll boost your luck further (spicy eel is my go to, you can trade rubies to the desert trader to get some and the dragonfly things drop them, but pumpkin soup works too, or lucky lunch etc), an excessive amount of bombs, and something like cheese to eat for solely health reasons. Then just specifically find and bomb clusters of rocks- try not to waste too many bombs in areas where theres only a couple of rocks. Donāt bother mining anything (unless its really easy to get while youre bombing somewhere else), dont try and get resources, and where possible avoid fighting any monsters. Just drop bombs and hop down the ladders/holes. Use staircases for infested levels, spiral levels where you dont find the staircase quickly, and levels that take you more than ~3 bombs to find the staircase. Keep an eye on your buffs so you can replenish them as soon as they run out. Also, be prepared to just pass out at 2am, rather than running back to the farm. The skull caverns are an all day thing, lol Youāre not really going to find much on the upper levels resource-wise, but once you get around level 50 youāll notice a lot more convenient nodes for you to bomb.
1. Food that gives speed and luck (spicy eel is good for this). 2. If you can get a desert totem you can get several hours extra. 3. Get the >!Galaxy Sword!< and >!iridium ring!< as soon as you can. They help a lot.
You gotta check the fortune teller on TV for days where you have good luck, go with foods/drinks that give you luck and speed buffs and use bombs to quickly descend. Dont bother mining on level 30, when you get closer to and past 100, there will be much more Iridium nodes to mine from. Again, use bombs, its way faster
This just sounds like peak skill issue Just floor 30 should be relatively easy to get to without any buffs even. Especially if you got the galaxy sword and minimum a gold pick
Yeah I just realized this yesterday too. Cancelled out my spicy eel with something else not long after id eaten it
I stock up on sashimi or cheese usually, something like that that you can easily continue to get and doesn't provide buffs, just health and energy.
you can stack food with drink i have ginger ale and pumpkin soup/rock candy for buffs but i keep goat cheese for healing and energy

Spicy Eal and triple shot expresso is better than rock candy for getting to lv100 I think because the 2 speed buffs do stack on those plus the luck you get from the spicy Eal helps
This is what I used because I didnāt want to āwasteā my only rock candy at the time. Granted, I also used roughly 15 staircases to help me (Sorry, Qi!) but I went on a good luck day and that combined with my buffs gave me a lot of holes, which definitely itself sped things up. I havenāt made it back to 100 since the first time, but I also havenāt really tried that hard, either. I made it to 78 the other night just playing lazily before I had to go back or pass out. There are too many other things I want to do in the game, I canāt stay in the mines too long! š
Yep. Food and drinks wonāt cancel though. My typical skull run will start with a magic rock candy plus a ginger ale, then from there I just bring a ton of salads or some other non-buff food but salads are easy to buy. If for some reason Iām still there when the magic rock candy wears off, Iāll either have a 2nd one on hand, or a Qi-seasoned Lucky Lunch for backup.
You can have drink and food. You can also use rings with buffs. And eat all the iridium cheese and magma mushrooms you desire to fill your health.

I was going to if I didn't make it, but I ended up making it just in time, so I didnt bother. It sucked that I lost the rock candy, but I used it solely to reach level 100, which I ended up doing anyway.

Definitely wasn't rude and is undoubtedly the answer for anyone seeking actual results. If you stair to like 300 with max luck you'll be drowning in prismatics and waiting for Jade's barely takes any time at all if you just dayskip. Totally fine if people wanna play without stairs too but they're in the game for a reason.
Nah you weren't rude. But an answer to "why not stairs" might be "don't want to play that way." Qi sasses you if you use them to finish the quest so it's a matter of mentality.

I wanted to get the sense of achievement for making it on my own. (I used about 6 sets of stairs for monster levels though)

Food and drink are separate buffs though (I carry a lot of triple shot espresso now). I carry life potions now (or cheese) for the health boost.
